Kaiju Fighters Ch. 05

The Next Day

Gojira is just getting up. The time is probably around eight or nine in the morning. He's not sure as he only needed to know where the sun was at before. The Kaiju King looks around his room. It's a decently sized room with one closet and a dresser, and plain walls.

The Kaiju goes over to the dresser to change. As he gets dressed he wished he still had those glasses and coat. Especially the coat. He liked the coat.

After finishing getting dressed, he decides to explore the building. He passes several bathrooms, the kitchen, dining room, mission room, and many more bedrooms.

He finally reaches a room called R&R and decides to see what it is. It's a large room, full of couches, chairs, and tables. Not only coffee tables, but game tables too. And in a corner there is also a small kitchen-like area with cabinets, a refrigerator, an oven, and a microwave.

One of the most notable things in the room is a large TV on the wall. Showing on the TV was Kimiko during the interview the day before.

"No! That's not what I said," she was in the middle of the interview. "What I'm saying is that they are different but some of them are just here to help."

The camera then switches to the reporter, "That concludes our interview," he tells Kimiko. "Beings from another universe, some are here to invade and others here to save us. Well, that is all the time we have left. I'm Hiro Sakurai here to say goodbye Tokyo," the show ends, and the credits start rolling. Gojira does not bother to see what was coming on next.

Anguirus notices that Gojira was standing in the room. "Hey! Look who's finally awake," he is sitting in a chair drinking from a can. From where the ankylosaur is sitting the spikes in his back can be seen poking through the cushions. He also has some notable bandages around his arm and a patch on the side of his face "Welcome to R&R."

Rodan yells from the kitchen area, "Or what we call Rest and Relaxation," the pterosaur reaches into the fridge to retrieve two more cans. He has one bandage going around his head. "Here's some soda," Rodan tosses one of the cans to Gojira for him to catch.

Gojira sees Rodan opening it by pulling on a small tab at the top. Gojira does the same. Much better than sea water, he thinks. After he finishes the beverage, Gojira throws the empty can and it lands in one of two recycling bins on the other side of the room.

Mosura's voices, "that bin is for paper not cans," as she and the Shobijin enter the room.

Gojira bows, "Sorry, Mosura."

"I see you're back to your old self," she says as Gojira rose back up.

"Don't remember changing."

This earns a small smile from the Divine Moth.

Anguirus gets out of his chair to approach Mosura and Gojira, "So, Mosura. You have a mission for us today?"

"No, actually. I came to congratulate you on a job well done from yesterday," Mosura tells them. "I would have told you when you got back. But you all looked so tired. And since your battle was live on almost every TV in Japan. The government has taken that as evidence of the kaiju threat and that we can handle it. They agreed to fund our team as long as we can prove that we are capable of defending them from others like Ghidorah."

Anguirus chuckles and jokingly says, "Well that shouldn't be hard as long Gojira doesn't run off like he did yesterday."

Mosura turns to the Gojirasaur and asks, "Are you going to run off again?" looking into his eyes, worrying about what the answer might be. Everyone turns to Gojira waiting for an answer.

Gojira looks around the room then down, like he was not sure. He sighs, "I guess not. Besides, it's not like I have anywhere else to go," Gojira tells them with barely a hint of a small grin forming on his face.

Mosura let out a breath of relief that the divine moth didn't know she was holding. Anguirus and the Shobijin cheers.

And Rodan yells, "GO, KAIJU FIGHTERS!" and everyone went silent.

The Shobijin stares at him and question in unison, "Kaiju Fighters?"

"Well, yeah," he tries explaining. "I mean we are kaiju, and we fight other kaiju,"

After a few more moments of everyone silently staring at the pterosaur, Mosura spoke back up, "I also came to tell you that after Lora's experience yesterday, Moll decided to keep searching and we managed to contact a couple friends who agreed to help."

Anguirus asks, "Who'd you find?"

Moll is the first to answer, "We found King Caesar meditating in a temple. Something about rediscovering himself."

And Lora chimes in, "And Manda was on a beach not far from Tokyo the entire time and has been catching some rays according to her."

Mosura continues, "We might have found some possible kaiju activities in Osaka, Hawaii, and maybe New York. However, we would need to do more investigation before we can confirm anything. We will see you this evening for lunch." Mosura and the Shobijin bowed before leaving the room.

Once they are gone, Gojira searches the room and finds a sliding door that leads out onto a balcony. Walking outside, for the first time he sees how big the city really is. He feels so small. Yet, at the same time the kaiju feels he was still as big as he used to be.

Then, Gojira takes notice of a familiar scent. "I'm surprised you came after the fight," he turns to see Kimiko.

The human is wearing her uniform and carrying a large bag. "Why wouldn't I?"

He looks away, "Most humans that see me in a rage become terrified of me."

"I-I'll admit you were pretty scary," the officer walks up beside him. "But you did save my life and that means a lot," she smiles at him.

"Thank you," he says before turning back to the view.

"By the way. I felt bad about your coat, and I know you liked it so…" she hands the bag to him.

Gojira opens the bag and sees a black leather long coat, a pair of fingerless gloves, and sunglasses. He wasn't sure what to think about this. Then, he puts it all on.

Looking back at Kimiko, Gojira tells her "I've never gotten a gift before."

The human walks up to him and presses her lips to his cheek. Before Gojira could ask what that was, he hears ringing.

Kimiko reaches into her pocket to take out a cell phone. "Excuse me for a moment," she tells him. "Hello, this is Officer Kimiko… What do you mean I'm no longer an officer?" she starts to walk away. "Promotion… What promotion?" that was the last thing he heard before the human was out of ear shot.

Gojira once again turns back to the view when he is joined by Anguirus and Rodan.

Rodan jumps on the railing and crouches, "You know, I never knew how wonderful the city was before this stuff happened." The pterosaur somehow manages to keep perfect balance.

"It depends on your point of view," Gojira shrugs up. "We were giants. Everything was too small for us."

Anguirus sighs, "I guess this is the end."

Mosura approaches them, "No, my friend," she along with the Shobijin joins them. "This is a new beginning."

.oOo.

Within a strange laboratory full of technology far more advanced than anything on Earth and yet everything was old like no one had been there for an exceedingly long time. The only other thing in the room is a skeleton wearing some sort of black coat next to the computer.

In the middle of the lab, a portal opens letting three figures in.

Gigan, Megalon, and Ghidorah examine the room.

Gigan walks to an old computer and starts typing. Searching for information. "We have arrived at our destination," he tells the others. "According to this data the last time anything was used was over a hundred years ago."

Megalon picks up an old device. "Everything is so old and dusty," and the device falls apart in his hand.

King Ghidorah asks, "What happened to this place?" noticing the old skeleton.

Continuing typing on the computer, the Nebulan Assassin answers, "The data reads that there was a flesh-eating virus coded to Xilien DNA. The virus continued until all Xilien life was annihilated," Gigan says as bringing up the file. "This tells us that the virus itself had a short life span. Without any hosts it died out along with the race," the future monster turns back to the golden dragon. "So, We're safe from any harm."

The Dragon picks up the skeleton, "So, this is the last of the Xiliens," and tosses it to the side. "How does the surface look?"

Gigan turns back to the computer to get readings on the planet itself. "Mostly a barren desert. It does have enough plant life to create oxygen and support life. Some vegetation can be consumable as well as leftover wildlife. But it's not much."

"That's just fine," the King of Terror says before noticing a device much like the one that brought them here but more advanced "How long till you can get this portal working?"

"By the looks of it the portal is functional," Gigan retrieves some readings from his visor. "It just needs a few adjustments."

"Good!" a malicious grin forms on his face. "Then we can start recruiting the others."

Megalon tilts his head. "What others?"

"Why others like us. Trapped in human form," Ghidorah was annoyed at this statement. "Alone we can barely destroy more than a few city blocks. But together we could rule all of Terra. We would be an army. No, a legion. A Legion of Daikaiju!" his laugh booms throughout the abandoned fortress they were unknowingly in.

End

NOTE: This ends the first saga of what I hope to be a long running series. I have lots planned for this one.
