Kaiju Fighters Ch. 06

It is about six in the morning and Gojira is already up and about. The Kaiju King stands in front of a mirror looking at his grey hair, fiery red and yellow eyes, and his fangs. He is wearing his signature grey t-shirt, black leather long coat with its sleeves rolled up, fingerless gloves.

Gojira walks past his dresser, picking up his sunglasses, putting them on as he heads out of his room.

The Kaiju King was heading towards the training hall to do his morning exercises; it is about the only thing that keeps his mind busy, especially knowing that Ghidorah is somewhere out there planning something. He just wished the equipment were better suited for him. One time he hit a punching bag so hard that it was blown out of the building.

On his way, he passes the pool room and notices someone in there. Out of curiosity he goes to see who it is. When he gets to the side of the pool, a woman with green eyes, blue hair, with four horns coming out of her head, and three gills on both sides of her neck jumps out of the pool and sits on the edge. "Morning, Gojira. How'd you sleep last night?" it is Manda wearing a green one-piece swimsuit. Nearby is a set of blue shorts and jacket folded up. The Water Guardian throws her arms down and somehow the all the water is thrown off, then goes over to put the set of cloths over her suit.

"Morning, and it was a whole lot better than sleeping on a mountain side or in a volcano. How was your sleep?" he asks in return.

"It wasn't so different for me."

"Really, your bed wasn't comfortable?"

"The bed was fine, but I preferred to be moist when I sleep so I just slept in the tub last night."

"If you don't like the beds here, then what do you like about this world?"

"The food, the beach, the aquarium and… Oh! Do you want to see something I can do?" she holds her hand over the water, with a slow fluid movement she raises her hand up, and the water raises along with it until a bubble is floating in the air.

Even though his face did not show it, Gojira watched this in amazement. "How did you learn to do that?"

"To be honest, I'm not entirely sure," she shrugs, "After I arrived here I just found myself able to move the water," after saying this the bubble pops, spooking her a bit. "I'm still learning." She giggles.

Rodan them comes flying in "Hey, Mandy!"

"Ugh!" the former sea serpent instinctively lets out. "What do you want now, Rodan?"

"Oh, I just wanted to know if you will go out with me?" he lands right beside her. Rodan is wearing his usual brown track suit over his yellow shirt with his wings sticking out of the back. The pteranodon licks his hand and rubs them through his brown hair and winks at her.

"I already told you, bird brain. Not even in your dreams."

"Oh, come on! Not even one?"

"Not a chance," Manda swings her arm around moving enough water give him an unwanted bath.

Gojira comments. "I think you're getting the hang of it already," before turning to leave the room.

"Hey, Gojira! Where are you going?"

"To the training hall."

"Okay, see you later. Oh! And say hi to Caesar for me."

.oOo.

The training hall is a rather large room full of all sorts of exercise equipment ranging from weights and trend mills to punching bags and targets. On a matt in the middle of the room is an aging man sitting cross legged with his eyes closed in meditation. The man is wearing brown robes with yellow around the collar and at the end of the sleeves that resembled a martial arts uniform. He has yellowish colored hair and a long beard to match. He resembles more of a lion than a man. There is a green gem in the middle of his forehead. This is the great King Caesar. "Good morning, my young pupil. I can see you have awoken early to train by yourself," he speaks knowing that Gojira is here with him.

Gojira walks in and bows in respect. "Yes, Sensei. But it seems that attempt has failed," he tries his best to not sound annoyed, but Caesar can easily sense it.

"Why don't you come and join me in my meditation?"

"I'm honored but that's not my thing."

"Yes, I know. But sometimes when we are stressed we feel the need to calm down. Most people would try and let their anger out by hitting things," Caesar then opens his ruby colored eyes to look towards a boarded-up hole in the wall. "Sometimes to find the best solution to a stressful problem is that you need a calm mind, young one," then turns his gaze to Gojira.

"Maybe later, Sensei."

"Very well then, but Mosura did want you to know that you should be careful with the equipment and that even though the government did agree to fund this base, it does not mean that we can destroy everything."

"Sorry, Sensei."

The Shisha stands up to stretch. "No need to apologize, at least not to me. It's been a while since we last sparred together. Want to go around with this old dog?" he chuckles.

Gojira looks at him for a moment then nods his he gets into a stance. "You're on!" he grunts and before he knew it, Caesar had already ran up to him and hits him in the chest with only two fingers that knocks him back a bit. The Gojirian was not sure why that hurt. It felt almost like stone, but that is usually normal for him. "How's you do that?"

"It's called pressure points, normally it's hard to use against a kaiju given their abnormal size and the fact that the points are different for each one," Caesar explains. "But since we're not entirely kaiju anymore, I figured I should see if it was possible," he dodges one of Gojira's punches and hits him in a couple other pressure points. "I thought that up while meditating; you really should try it sometime," the Shisha then delivers a round house kick and sent Gojira flying into some weights. He chuckles. "And they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks."

Gojira starts losing his temper with another strike from his old master, causing his glasses to fall off revealing that his eyes have changed from the normal round pupils into snake eyes. As his anger flares up he fails to notice the fact that his hand was starting to glow. When he is back up and turned around, the Kaiju King throws his arm out towards Caesar, and his hand releases a blue wave of energy similar to his atomic breath towards him.

King Caesar is amazed at what his pupil has done but knowing that he needs to act quickly the shisha stands there and lets the green gem absorb all the energy.

Gojira stood there looking down at his hands as his eyes return to normal. No one was more amazed than him.

"I didn't know you could do that," Kimiko tells him.

"Neither did I," he agrees before turning to see her there. She startled him enough that he forgot that he was in the middle of a battle until a beam of raw energy from Caesar's eyes hit him and thus ending the match. As his vision clears the first thing he sees is Kimiko's blue eyes.

"Ohmygosh! I'm so sorry Goji I didn't mean to-"

"Don't apologize, miss." Caesar tells her as he approaches them. "I consider this a lesson to my student that during a fight you should never lose your guard."

Gojira grunts, "Yes, Sensei," as he stood back up.

"Good. Now that move you just made was truly remarkable. Even though your anger can get the best of you it seems that it allowed you to discover some hidden power."

"Thank you, Sensei."

"Now then! Aren't you going to introduce me to your friend here?"

"Yes, Sensei. This is Officer Kimiko of the Tokyo police," Gojira then noticed that the human is not wearing her uniform or her casual clothing. Instead, she is wearing black slacks, a jacket to match, and a white button up shirt. He also noticed that she had grown her hair out a little and pulled it into a short ponytail.

The Shisha bows. "Nice to meet you, Kimiko. I am King Caesar."

"Same here, King Caesar," Kimiko bows "Forgive me I've never been in the presence of royalty."

"The 'King' part is more of a given title, it doesn't really mean anything, Officer."

"Actually, it's Agent Kimiko." She corrects. "After the Kaiju incident at the warehouse. The government thought it would be best to have a human to help oversee this project and send reports in after missions," the former officer pulls out her new badge to show them and surely it said, 'Special Agent Kimiko Miyagi'. "They figured that with my record and the fact that you guys already know me that I am perfect for the job."

Anguirus was then heard shouting. "What's with all the racket?" he's wearing his usual light brown shirt and dark brown leather vest. Seeing his purple eyes, you can tell that he is tired. "I was having a nice dream about the good old days when I was stomping on houses without a care in the world," he chuckles.

Kimiko raises a brow at that. "Should I be worried?"

That is when he notices the human. "Woops! Sorry, I mean when we were in our other world not this one," the former ankylosaur then notices everyone staring at him. He rubs his chin trying to think about why they were staring. "What?"

"Anguirus, where are your spikes?" Gojira finally asks. Looking at him you can see holes in his clothes where they should be.

"Huh? Oh right! They're still here. Watch!" he flexes his muscles and his spikes seemingly shot out of his skin. "Ta-da!"

"Ouch!" Kimiko flinches at the sight of this. "Doesn't that hurt?"

"Nope!"

"What happened to them?" Gojira asks curiously.

"Not sure," Ang scratches his head. "They just disappear whenever I sleep or relaxed?"

Then a soft soothing voice flows through the air. "Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a good night's sleep." It was Mosura's voice over the intercom. "I wish to speak to you in the mission room for our next assignment."

With that, everyone heads for the mission room.

.oOo.

Everyone is now in a large room full of tables and chairs that overlooks a large desk in front of a large screen. When everyone was seated, Mosura and the Shobijin came out to stand next to the desk. "Good Moring everyone," Mosura bows. "Sorry to call everyone this early in the morning."

"That's alright, Ms. Mosura," Caesar tells her. "We were all up anyway."

Anguirus asks, "So, what kind of mission do you have for us today?" who precedes to lean back with his feet on the table.

Rodan stands up, "Yeah, did the twins see another bad guy with their freaky mind trick?"

"No, not exactly," Moll wearing the orange and yellow kimono tells them.

Lora wearing the blue kimono adds, "It's actually a request from an old friend."

They both then speak in unison. "Or in Manda's case, family,"

Everyone's attention is brought to a man who walking through the door. The man is about average size, a bit muscular wearing a red button shirt, old jeans, work boots, gloves, a tool belt, and a hard hat. His eyes are crimson color. He also has unusually large hands and feet, especially for a human. And he is rather dirty.

The man removes the helmet to reveal messy red hair and a single horn. "Sorry about the mess. I can clean it up."

Recognizing him Manda screams "Baragon!"and runs up to give him a hug.

"Hey, Sis," Baragon returns the hug. "It's great to see you again."

They release from the hug and the water kaiju asks, "Where have you been?"

"I've been working at a mining facility not far from here."

Gojira raised a brow, "You're a miner? Seriously?"

"Hey!" he shrugs. "Do what you love and love what you do, and there is nothing I love doing more than digging. It also helps pay the bills."

"I guess that explains the dirt," Rodan jokes. "But that doesn't explain why you're here."

"That is why we're meeting," Mosura then turns to the Elias. "Lora, please get the lights."

Lora walks over to a switch to turn the lights out. Mosura grabs what looks like a small box with buttons and pushes one button. A projector flashes on at the other side of the room. The screen shows a map shows with a circle around a small area. "This area is where Baragon works," she pushes another button and the picture changes showing several images of different people. "Everyone here has disappeared within the mines. A few days after they went missing other miners would find what's left of them."

Kimiko gasps, "That sounds horrible."

Baragon looks down in sadness. "It was, I was the one that found most of them," everyone turns to him as the lights come back on. "They might have been human, but I knew most of them. When I first arrived here they were the only ones who accepted me for what I was. They even showed me the ropes around here," he pauses. "Every one of those workers were good people and the only thing the boss cares about is the job getting done," his fists clenches, holding back his anger.

Caesar speaks up, "I understand, Earth Guardian."

Anguirus who at some point pulled out a drink tells him, "I still don't understand humans, but I do understand friends and loyalty," the spiked kaiju holds the can up to Baragon.

Mosura turns to the Earth Guardian, "Do you have any clues to what's going on?"

Baragon looks up. "Actually, I do." he walks over to the desk to pick up a lunch box. "When I first started working at the mines I heard stories about bug men that live underground. I thought it was just stories they told to pass the time. That is, until I found this." and then opens the box to reveal a large greyish claw.

Gojira finds the claw to be familiar. He gets up, snatches the claw, sniffs it before letting out a low growl.

Kimiko asks, "What is it Goji?"

"Meganula."

Kimiko knew it must be someone from their home. Before she could ask, Mosura answers the unspoken question. "Meganula were a race of large dragonfly."

Rodan starts speaking, "If I know the Meganula and I know plenty about them. Where there are Meganula, there is—"

"Megaguirus." Gojira finishes.

Mosura asks, "I guess you're up for the assignment?"

"I'll go to," Manda volunteered. "I wish to help my brother."

Rodan flies up, "I'm going as well."

"Ugh!" Manda has a look of disgust.

"I'm sorry Rodan," Mosura shakes her head. "but I cannot allow that."

Rodan falls back into his seat. "What!? Why not?" Manda grins at the sight of his disappointment. "My kind was the top predator to them. I can help."

"And that is why you cannot go." Mosura tells. "They would be more alerted to your presence than any of the others. Eventually they will be seen a threat but at least there will be time."

"Can I go?" Baragon walks up to her holding his hat in both of his hands.

She gives him a nod of approval. "They might be used to your scent as a worker and not a threat."

"Thank you," he puts his hat on, ready to return for work.

Kimiko interrupts, "Don't forget about me!" And everyone just stares at her.

Moll starts, "I'm sorry Kimiko, but…"

And Lora finishes, "…we don't think that's a good idea."

Anguirus laughs, "Yeah! I mean, what are you gonna do? Shoot them with that puny gun of yours. The last time you tried that all you did was tick off a dragon."

Kimiko smiles, "Maybe so but…" she opens her jacket to reveal a gun holster and pulls out an advanced looking gun. "This here is the latest in weapon technology. It was created to defend against kaiju. It may not kill them, but it is a guaranteed weapon. It fires off charges of concentrated high-powered electricity and heat. Think of it as a taser on steroids. They call it a—"

"Maser!" every kaiju in the room tells her.

The agent just looks at the kaiju, "I guess you guys had something similar back home?"

Mosura sighs, "They were tanks. But they do appear similar in use and function."

Manda announces, "I don't think she should go with us. How do we even know we can trust this human?"

"I trust her." The group's attention is then brought to Gojira. "I've seen her in action, and I know that even if the odds seem impossible she will stand by you."

Anguirus shout, "Hear, hear!"

The king then turns to the Earth Guardian, "Baragon. it's your territory, lead the way."

After that everyone on the mission leaves the room.

Anguirus stands up. "I'll be out in case anybody needs me."

"Where are you going?" Mosura asks.

"To get a drink."

"Lora, go with him and make sure he stays out of trouble and doesn't bring anything back."

"Yes, ma'am!" the Shobijin leaves to follow him.

Rodan stands in defeat, "If you don't mind I'll be in the R&R." flies out.

NOTE: Here's the start of a story arc I call The Underground. I estimate it'll last three or four chapters.
