Kaiju Fighters Ch. 07
After a couple hours of traveling, the team finally made it to the mines. They park not far from the mountain side in a red car that belonged to Kimiko. The kaiju did not enjoy the ride. Especially Gojira.
"I still don't see why I couldn't drive," he complains.
"Well for one," Kimiko holds up a finger. "You don't have a license. And two. The last time you drove anything, you crashed."
"But I meant to do that."
"That doesn't make me feel any better, Goji."
Baragon takes a deep breath. "There it is," and points towards a cave entrance.
Manda walks up beside him. "This is where you work?"
"Eyup! This here was perhaps the best place to dig," he tells her and then notices that she is carrying a large canteen with a strap over her shoulder. "Hey, sis. What's that for?"
She looks down at her canteen. "Oh, this is so that I always have water to fight with." Looking back at her brother, she sees that he is a bit confused. "You have to see this," the water guardian uncaps the canteen and moves the water out with a wave of her hand and moves it towards Baragon.
"Whoa! Nice trick."
"I know," she puts the water back into the canteen. "So, what else can you tell us about this place?"
"Not much really," he looks around. That is when he notices that it is quiet. Far too quiet than it should be. "This ain't right."
"What do you mean?" Kimiko asks walking up to them.
"There should be workers outside and the machines should be running; but there is nothing," Baragon worries.
Suddenly, someone starts yelling at them "BARAGON!" A short balding man in a grey suit and green shirt walks up to them. "YOU'RE LATE FOR WORK! YOUR SHIFT STARTED OVER AN HOUR AGO!"
Baragon sighs and turns to his boss. "Sorry, Boss. But I had some family and friends visiting and just lost track of time."
"I DON'T CARE IF THE WORLD WAS ENDING. I STILL WANT YOU HERE ON TIME!"
"Yes, Boss, sorry boss," Baragon bows. When he raised back up, he decided to ask his question. "Hey, Boss. Where is everyone?"
"HOW SHOULD I KNOW? THEY ALL JUST DISSAPEARED!"
During this conversation Kimiko notices Gojira and Manda are holding their noses. "What's wrong with you?"
"That smell. It's so over-powering," Manda tells the human "What is it?"
Kimiko takes a moment to sniff the air and understands what's troubling them. "I'd say that guy over did it with his cologne."
"What is that stuff and why would anybody wear it." Gojira asks irritated at the annoying stench.
"Some guys wear it so that no one would know that they smell bad."
"I wouldn't care if this guy smelled like whale poop," he tells her. "Anything is better than this smell," Just then he catches a familiar scent underneath the cologne.
Baragon pleads, "Boss, we have to find them."
"IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUES THE'RE ALL FIRED!" The boss yells.
"You can't do that!"
"OF COURSE I CAN! THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER LOW LIFES OUT THERE TO HIRE!"
At that, Baragon clenches his fists ready to deck this piece of trash. "YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A SELFISH PARASITIC INSECT THAT TAKES ADVANTAGE OF OTHER PEOPLE'S NEEDS, WHO ONLY CARES ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY HE HAS IN HIS POCKES!"
"YOU DARE TO RAISE YOU TONE TO ME!" His boss was enraged by the sudden insults. "GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON WHY IS SHOULN'T FIRE YOU!"
"HOW'S! THIS I QUIT!"Baragon removes his helmet and slams it into the ground hard enough to shatter it. Then he turns his back to his former boss.
Gojira fires an atomic blast from his mouth hitting the former boss.
"GOJIRA!" Kimiko shouts."What are you doing!?"
"I thought Mosura said no harming any humans?" Manda tells him.
"That's no human." Gojira growls. "It's just as you said, Baragon. He's just a parasitic insect."
The others look towards where there should have been a man. Instead, there is an insectoid looking creature with a grayish and green exoskeleton, claws instead of hands, yellowish green eyes, and wings coming out of his back.
"A Meganula!?" Baragon realized.
The Meganula lets out a blood curdling screech and takes off towards the mine entrance. Manda opens her canteen and uses the water to create a whip to whack at the bug man causing it to fall but he gets back up and tries to fly towards the entrance. However, a shot from Kimiko's maser pistol pierces straight through one of its wings and it came falling back down to the ground.
The bug man tries running to the entrance, only for Baragon to come up from the ground in front of it. Baragon grabs the Meganula and starts smashing him into the ground. He continues smashing without realizing it was already dead.
Manda puts a hand on her brother's shoulder, "Baragon," he calms down. "I think he's gone."
"Sorry, it's just that the entire time I've been working for him, and I should have known."
"Don't beat yourself over this," Gojira tells him. "he had that cologne stuff hiding his true scent. Even then the only reason I figured it out was that I have encountered them before and am familiar enough with their scent. You never encountered one and wouldn't have recognized it."
Baragon sighs, "You're right."
Kimiko then asks, "What do we do now?"
"Now," Gojira looks towards the mine entrance. "We head into the hive."
