Kaiju Fighters Ch. 10

Baragon sets a mug on the counter, "I'll have another," he calls out ready for beer twenty-eight. Ever since the incident at the mine, the Earth Guardian has been spending most of his time at the same bar he and his fellow workers used to hang out at.

A familiar voice of one of the Shobijin suddenly reaches his ears "You shouldn't drown your sorrows," the blue robed priestess, Lora walks up and takes a seat next to him. A bartender walks up to take her order. "Just a glass of water will be fine," and the bartender sets a small glass in front of her.

Leaning on the counter, the kaiju says, "I didn't think I'd see you anywhere near here?" as another refilled glass is set in front of him. "Mosura sent you?"

The Elias looks around uneasily of her surroundings "She's just worried about you."

"Why would she be?" he finishes his new glass and asks for another. "I got over two hundred workers killed."

"Now that wasn't your fault!"

"Wasn't it? I had been working there for months," he starts on the beer as soon as it is in front of him. "I should have noticed something was wrong sooner."

"You couldn't have. The cologne that Meganula was wearing hid his true scent,"

"Gojira noticed?"

"He did," Lora agrees on that. "But he had first-hand experience with them. Whereas you had never ran into them before."

Baragon slams the mug on the counter, shattering it, and starts shouting and Lora "That still doesn't change the fact that Megaguirus got all my friends killed and—" Just then, Lora smacks the kaiju. It did not really hurt him. But he is surely shocked as he never expected that from the Elias.

Lora has no idea what came over her. The action was a spur of the moment. "And, and that's where you should stop. Megaguirus was the one who killed them not you. You had nothing to do with it."

Baragon sat there in silence before saying, "What do you want me to do?

"How about you stop sulking around and come back home."

"I'll consider it," Baragon stares in her eyes. "On one condition. Otherwise, you don't bother me until closing time."

"Sure." Lora shrugs. "What is it?"

"You drink something that actually has alcohol in it," and he orders another round.

Her eyes widen and splutter out, "I, I can't do that! Moll will kill me if she finds out."

"Exactly!" Baragon looks away. "You would never do anything that would disappoint your big sister."

Lora stares at him for a moment before getting up to leave. She gets to the door before letting out a sigh of frustration and walks back to the seat next to Baragon.

"G-give me something light." she tells the bartender who complies. Looking back at Baragon whose eyes widen in disbelief. "You won't tell Moll, will you?" she pleads.

Baragon could not help but chuckle, "These lips are sealed."

When the bartender came out with a bottle and a short glass with ice in it. He sets the glass down and fills it up with the beverage.

Lora hesitates at first but eventually takes a sip. "Yuck!" she makes a face of disgust. The Elias then let the flavor settle in. "Actually. It's not half as bad as I thought it would be."

Baragon shakes his head before raising his glass. "Cheers!"

Understanding the gesture, Lora raises her glass as. "Cheers!" and with a clink, the two enjoy what is left of their beverages.

End

NOTE: There will be several chapters that I call shorts. They're moments that I feel don't fit in the story arc but often have something to do with it and still wanted to write. You could call them fillers, but they would also have character development.
