Kaiju Fighters Ch. 22
Mosura is looking over the resumes in her office. The resumes are of the two men sitting across her desk.
"So, Dr. Geiszler—"
"Please, only mother calls me Doctor," the man with thick glasses tells her. "Just call me Newt."
"Very well, Newt. What makes you think that you would be perfect to be a medical official for our team?"
He smiles, "Well, I do have six doctorates, one of which is in biology."
"And you want to do this?"
"Well, yeah. Why wouldn't I?" he says if it was so obvious. "The chance of a lifetime to not only treat, but to study a form of human kaiju hybrid. To find out all the similarities and differences. That just sounds awesome."
"Forgive my friend here," the other guy wearing a sweater began speaking, "He is a bit irrational with the emotional maturity of a child."
"Shut up, Hermann!"
"Dr. Gottlieb," Mosura turns to the man in the sweater. "What about you?"
"To be honest, ma'am, similar to what Newt said. This is quite opportunity," he admits. "However, my degrees are in engineering and applied sciences. I'm sure my profession would be helpful when required. But I am here to assist my colleague."
"Well, I guess there is only one thing to do," Mosura tells them as she stands.
Newt asks, "And what would that be?"
The divine moth sets a small stack of papers in front of them. "For you to sign these papers and find a place for your stuff."
"Yes!" Newt pumps his fist before jumping out of his seat. "So, when do we meet Gojira?"
"I'm sorry. But Gojira is on an assignment in America. He may not be back for a while."
"Aw, man!" he falls back into the chair. "I was hoping to start on my research."
Hermann rolls his eyes, "Don't worry, Newt. I'm sure you would have plenty of chances to play mad scientist."
"Hey, Mosura," a voice calls out before the office door opens to reveal Anguirus. "Oh, sorry didn't know you had company."
"Hey! I know you," Newt immediately jumps back out of his seat and ran towards the spiked kaiju. "You're Anguirus. Perhaps the second coolest kaiju there is, next to Gojira anyway."
Anguirus raises a brow at the excited human, "Uh, thanks…I guess," he looks towards Mosura. "Who's this guy?"
"This is Newt," the guardian of peace informs him. "He'll be our medical doctor."
Newt examines the spikes on Ang's shoulders, "You know, I would love to get a closer look at these spikes and your entire skeletal system in fact."
"What?" the kaiju grew more confused.
"Don't bother, Newt." Hermann picks up his cane and walks over to them. "You only just got the job and I doubt they have the necessary equipment to do such tests."
"Actually, I had ordered a variety of medical equipment and supplies that I thought we would need," Mosura tells them. "Here's the directions to the medical wing," she quickly writes on a piece of paper and hands it to Herman. "Everything is set up already."
"Well in that case I don't see why we can't," he looks down at the paper and heads out the door.
"Come on, Anguirus! The doctor will see you now," Newt tells the spiked kaiju as the doctor shoves him out of the office.
.oOo.
"This is awesome!" Newt shouts after getting the results an hour later.
Hermann is sitting in a chair looking over the papers in his hands, "I must admit, this is somewhat fascinating."
"I've been here for a while now," Anguirus glares at the doctors. "Just tell me already!"
"Well, you don't have to be rude," Hermann scolds him. "According to these results, not only your spikes, but your entire bone structure is made out of something similar to ivory except far stronger almost stronger than stone."
"Huh?"
"He means that sticks and stones may break our bones, but it would take trees and buildings to do the same to you," Newt is getting excited. "Not only that. There seems to be a special muscle tissue concentrated around your spikes. The only reason they disappear into your skeleton when you sleep is because you don't know how to control it yet and the only time your whole body is relaxed is while you're sleeping. Dude, you rock!"
"You mean that I can actually control this?"
"In theory, yes." Hermann hums. "A good place to start is with a memory. One from which you were most happy."
"Happy, huh?" Anguirus closes his eyes, and his mind went back to a time long before in another world. In this memory there is an enormous creature, ankylosaur-like roaming through the mountains. There is no sign of any humans as far as he can see. Just other smaller dinosaurs.
Newt shouts, "It worked!" bringing the kaiju out of his daydream.
Anguirus opens his eyes to see that the human was telling the truth. "Well, what do you know? I might actually give you a hug," when he said that the spikes poke back out of his skin.
Newt gave a nervous smile, "Um… maybe later."
"Anguirus!" Mosura walks in through the door. "How's your appointment going?"
"It's doing alright, ma'am." Hermann informs her as he put on his glasses and starts writing in a journal.
"That's good," she says before looking directly at the spiked kaiju. "Anguirus, there has been another kaiju detected. I want you to meet up with Rodan and Manda there in a couple of days."
"Sure thing, Mosura," he told her. "Where will I be going?"
"A city in America called Las Vegas."
"Vegas!" Newt shouts. "Well, pal, you know what they say?" the doctor was about to pat the kaiju's back but stopped, remembering the spikes.
"What do they say?"
"You're kidding right?"
"Stop pestering him, Newt," Hermann finished writing in his journal and takes his glasses off. "It's just an old human saying. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."
"I still don't get it." the spiked one starts scratching his head.
"Perhaps you will understand after your little assignment," Hermann gets out of the chair. "Now if I may be excused? I need to go and gather my things from storage. You should as well, Newt," and walked out of the room.
"Thanks again, Doctor," Anguirus said before giving Newt a pat on the back so hard that the doctor fell face first onto the floor. And Ang left without noticing the doctor.
"So awesome!" Newt says as he manages to stand back up with a smile on his face.
