Kaiju Fighters Ch. 27

After arriving at the airport in New York City, the kaiju king and the agent start looking for someone.

Kimiko asks, "Who are we looking for again, Goji?"

"I'm not sure," Gojira shrugs. "Perhaps someone familiar from back home."

"Any ideas?"

"No clue," he tells her. At that moment, he spots something that made his eyes go so wide that one can see them beyond his shades. "Oh, no! Not him anyone but him," he growls.

"What?" Kimiko reaches for her gun. "Don't tell me it's Ghidorah or one of those other guys."

"I would have preferred them any day over that guy," Gojira points towards a man wearing an opened sweater jacket that said I heart N Y. He also wears a dark blue hat with N Y on it as well. And a pair of sunglasses so that his face is mostly hidden.

Kimiko then reads a sign that he is holding. "Godzilla?" she asks letting go of her gun back in its holster. They start walking towards the stranger.

"Yeah," Gojira lets out a growl of irritation. "It's what the Americans called me."

The stranger grins, "How's it going, cousin?" as he chews a piece of gum.

That shocked Kimiko, "Cousin?"

The kaiju king walks up to Zilla, "How many times do I have to tell you, Jira? I am not your cousin!" Gojira is noticeably taller than him and has more bulk as well.

"It's Zilla, actually," the mutant iguana corrects.

Gojira leans in, "And my name is Gojira, not Godzilla."

"Um, excuse me, Goji," Kimiko steps in between them. "Hi! I am Agent Kimiko," she pulls out her badge.

"Name's Zilla," he holds out his hand.

She accepts the offered hand, "Nice to meet you."

"If you'll excuse us." Gojira gives a low growl. "We are supposed to meet up with someone," he starts leading Kimiko away.

"I know, I'm the one who called," Zilla tells him. That news stopped Gojira in his tracks and his growl deepened.

"She set me up," veins started popping up on Gojira's head at the realization.

"Goji?" Kimiko worriedly as steps away.

"She knows exactly how much you annoy me," he steps up to his so-called cousin, clenching his fists ready to hit something. "You show up out of nowhere. You pretend to be me, and, and now we're leaving." He turns to walk off before being stopped by Kimiko.

"We can't leave."

Hearing this Gojira once again is stopped in his tracks. "Why not?" he turns to face her as a brow twitches.

"Our flight back home doesn't leave for two days. Our tickets are non-transferable, and we don't have enough on us to buy new ones. Nor can we just exchange them, " they stand there in silence until Zilla spoke.

"You finished?"

Gojira grumbles, "I think so."

"Good. I'll show you to your ride," Zilla leads them outside to where a cab sits in the parking lot. He opens the trunk and offers to take their bags. Kimiko freely hands her bag to him while Gojira shoves his into him. After they got into the back of the car Gojira takes notice who was getting in the driver's seat.

"Oh, please tell me you're not driving?"

"I could," Zilla grins as he turns the ignition. "But I'd be lying," and then they were off.

After driving for a few minutes Kimiko can feel the growing tension that Gojira has towards the driver. She starts to break the silence in hopes that Goji would ease up. "So, Jira, what can you tell me about yourself?"

"What do you want to know?" He starts blowing a bubble.

"Well, a good thing to know what you used to be."

The bubble pops before answering. "I was a mutant iguana that kinda looked like what you humans call a t-rex."

Kimiko tries her best to put that picture in her mind. "I'm sorry, but I can never imagine how you guys used to look like."

"That's alright," Zilla looks through the rearview mirror. "None of our humans get it either," he chuckles. "One of them even tried drawing a picture."

"Your humans?" Gojira was curious.

"Yeah. I met them not long after me and Komodithrax got here. They even helped us with our new lives," he points at the taxi information that shows his picture and name.

Gojira raises a brow, "You chose Tatopoulos?"

"You chose Gojo." Zilla smirks. "Mothra told me," the iguana hears him growling in the back.

"Wait is Mothra…?" Kimiko tries asking but Gojira answers before she finished.

"Mosura's American name."

Then a fourth voice is heard. "Zilla? Are you there, Z? Come in," Looking in the direction of the voice they find two-way radio in the vehicle with them.

Zilla answers, "I'm here, Komi."

"Good. So, what are you wearing?" Komi asks.

"The same thing I was wearing before I left," Zilla raises a brow at the question. "Why you ask?"

"Don't know. Slick said it was something that couples do."

"I don't mean to interrupt," Kimiko buts in. "But maybe you should get more information before you start doing that kind of stuff."

"Who's that?"

"That would be Agent Kimiko," Zilla answers. "She arrived with Gojira."

"Oh, you've pick up your cousin already?"

Gojira growls at the voice, "I'm not his cousin!"

"He said you'd say that" there was a giggle from the radio and beside Gojira. "Hey, have you already told them about the whole getting married thing?"

"You just did," Zilla tells her.

"You're getting married!" Kimiko exclaims.

"Don't sound so surprised," the voice says. "I'm Komi by the way."

"Is that why Mosura said that Goji had to come?"

After that Gojira stopped listening to the conversation. He decides to look out the window. As they turned the corner he could have sworn he saw a man with smoke coming off him with glowing orange eyes.

.oOo.

A tall man leaves the street he was told to guard until he sees the target. His appearance is that of rocky black skin with crevices at his joints. He is wearing black kakis and a large overcoat and that is all, no shoes, and no shirt. The man's eyes are glowing orange he leaves a trail of smoke wherever he goes.

Turning down an ally. He soon finds himself in an abandoned parking lot where two more people are waiting for him.

One of them slightly shorter than the tall man, wearing a light green jacket, denim jeans, and green sneakers. His eyes are all black and he has shoulder length green dreadlocks.

The other man appears shorter than all of them. He is, however, hunched over. His skin is greyish blue. Yellowing eyes and completely bald. When he opens his mouth one would see two sets of razor-sharp teeth. The most notable thing about this guy is that his right arm is much larger than his left and instead of five fingers it has three large claws. And there is a hole in his left shoulder.

"It's about time you returned, Obsidius." The hunchback grunts. "Crustaceous was starting to annoy me."

"C'mon, man," green one says. "I'm just hungry."

Obsidius stares at them for a moment. He then raises a hand towards the ground. The hand glows red before a blast of heat flows from it. When the heat stops, a small portion of the asphalt that made-up parking lot melts.

"Thanks, dude," Crustaceous reaches down to scoop up some of the asphalt to eat.

"Did you find the kaiju that was detected with in the city?" the hunchback asks.

"I found more than that, Orga." Obsidius walks up to him. "He is here."

Orga grew wide eyed and then grins. "That's perfect," starts chuckling.

.oOo.

"Welcome to our lair," Zilla pulls the car up to a building.

"It looks… nice." Kimiko hesitates when she sees the old run-down building.

"You're not the first human to tell me that," Zilla lowers his shades revealing orange eyes. "I'm starting to think your species don't know the definition."

Kimiko gives him a sheepish smile and chuckles a bit.

.oOo.

Komi holds up a white sleeveless dress while standing in front of a mirror, "What's the point in the white clothes again?

"It's just traditional." Gizmo answers her sitting on the bed.

"Why?" Komi puts the dress down next to Gizmo.

She sits there for a moment trying to think of an answer. "I don't know," she shrugs as the tech girl picks up the dress. "I'm much more curious about where Slick got such an expensive looking dress."

"He told me not to ask."

Gizmo rolls her eyes while setting the dress back down, "Of course, he did."

"We're here!" Zilla's voice can be heard from the other side of the door. "Komi, are you in here?" he begins to open the door, but stops when Gizmo shouts.

"Don't open the door!"

"What, why?"

"It's tradition. The bride and groom don't see each other before the wedding."

"Well, I say tradition stinks."

Komi huffs "You're telling me. How long do we have to wait again?"

Gizmo answers, "Tomorrow."

Komi sighed and fell back on the bed.

There is a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Gizmo asks.

"Kimiko. May I come in?"

"Sure," Gizmo opens the door. "Just as long as Yankee isn't with you."

"I don't know who that is, but it's just me," Kimiko walks in. "Hello. You must be Gizmo," she bows towards the woman with a purple streak in her hair. When she raises up from the bow Kimiko looks at the woman on the bed. "And you must be the bride," the agent bows again. "I am Agent Kimiko Miyagi from Japan. I would like to congratulate you for the wedding."

"Fine. Whatever," Komi says as she lays.

"Aren't you excited?"

"Not really," Komi sits up. "I just don't see the point to this thing. The only thing I'm sure of is that Slick and Gizmo said that it's what humans usually do."

"But Komi," Gizmo whines. "A wedding is a vow between two people who agrees to spend the rest of their lives together."

"I understand that part," the kaiju tells her. "The thing is that whenever a kaiju of our kind choses a mate it's usually for life. So, there's no reason for it," she shrugs her shoulders. "Z, mostly agreed to it as an excuse to get his cousin here."

.oOo.

"So, you're the great Godzilla of Japan," Slick says he takes out a couple drinks out of the fridge. "Nice to meet cha," he tosses one to Zilla, who is sitting on the couch. One is also tossed to Gojira, who sits at the kitchen table. But instead of catching it he just moves his head to let it pass and fall to the floor.

Since entering the apartment, the only thing Gojira has done is glare at Zilla.

"Glad to see that you're not all sunshine and rainbow,." Slick says sarcastically as he takes a sip of the beverage.

"Don't take it personally, Slick," Zilla tells him as he throws his gum away before taking a drink. "He's been giving me that look since we met."

Gojira slams his fist on the table hard enough to break it, "That's because you impersonated me!"

"First of all, that technically wasn't me," Zilla corrects him. "And second, the humans thought it was you. So, don't blame me for that."

A few moments passed as the duo started a staring contest.

"Whatcha doin?" Slick asks feeling uncomfortable.

Gojira tells him, "Thinking about Sydney," as an image of Zilla crashing into the opera house flashes before his mind.

Hearing that, Zilla shudders. "I can still hear that music."
