Elijah Mikaelson hurried back to his wife's hospital room where she was still resting in bed and hooked up to a machine.
"They're not here yet," he informed her with a single nod.
"You don't say?" Selina replied sarcastically, her big blue eyes widening even more if it was possible. "I'm so glad you told me that! I feel so much more informed than I did when you told me the same damn thing three minutes ago!"
"Well, Selina, what else can I say?" He began to pace restlessly back and forth in front of the bed. "The area around the front entrance is lit by the generator so I need to scrutinize every patient who comes through the door from the ambulances. And believe me, there are a lot due to this crazy storm!"
"Right," Selina nodded, biting her bottom lip. "And the really good eyesight you get from being a vampire isn't doing squat for you?" She heaved a dramatic sigh and put her hands on her belly where electrodes attached to it monitored her heart and contractions.
"It does, yes," Elijah ran his fingers through his hair. "It's…it's my baby brother. It's Kol and Amy."
"I know," Selina held out a hand. Normally her fingers were very well-manicured but now they were a mess. "Why do you think I don't have nails on this hand anymore?"
Elijah sucked in his breath. "That looks painful. Laura will have a thing or two to say when you go and see her again." Their eldest daughter was hairstylist and often did Selina's nails too.
"Right," Selina sighed. "But I'm sure that once I explain the situation, she'll understand."
They went silent for a few seconds and then Elijah cleared his throat. "Still nothing with the baby?"
"No," Selina shook her head. "Nothing. No babies coming out of my vagina yet," she replied, her voice rising as she spoke the last two words.
"Was it really necessary for you to explain it that way?" He winced.
She got a wicked twinkle in her eye. "Would you rather I said 'penis' again?"
"I won't even respond to your childish behavior," Elijah snapped, then turned on his heel and made his way to the door, looking out into the hallway as Sean made his way to the room. "Any news?" He asked the doctor.
"They're coming," Sean replied. "Their ambulance just parked out front. Stay inside this room cause we'll need to make our way through with a stretcher." Then he turned and walked away.
"Oh, jeepers!" Selina bit her bottom lip and put a hand on her chest. "What if…what if something terrible has happened?!"
"Don't you think like that, darling," Elijah shook his head as he looked out into the darkness of the corridor since only one or two lights were lit.
"I'm your darling now?" She teased, able to grin a little.
"You have to ask, woman?" He turned and gave her a wink.
Meanwhile, Sean hurried to the entrance as two paramedics came in, pushing Amy on a stretcher as a nervous Kol Mikaelson hovered nearby.
"Well, well, well," Sean grinned, his hands going to his waist. "What do we have here?"
Amy raised her eyes to the doctor, grinning as she showed him the baby boy she held. "Meet our baby boy."
"Well, hello there, my boy," Sean grinned and patted the baby's head gently. "Do you have a name, little one?"
Amy grinned at her husband who gave her a wink before she turned back to Sean. "We've decided to name him Froy,"
Sean took the baby's hand for a moment. "Very happy to meet you, Froy." Then he took on a more businesslike tone as he spoke to Amy and Kol once more. "So…will you tell me what happened?"
Kol closed his eyes and heaved a big sigh. "Well, Amy got stuck in the penthouse elevator just as the power went out, went into labor, and then by some miracle, I got into the cabin just in time to help her deliver our son."
"Did you?" Sean lowered his eyes to hide a smile. "Sounds like you have quite the Indiana Jones on your hands, Amy. It must've been quite the performance."
"Please don't remind me," Amy rolled her eyes. "If only that was all he did."
Sean raised an eyebrow, curious. "I know I might regret asking, but what else did he do?"
"Well," Kol coughed, uncomfortable for the first time in his life. "Froy was stuck and wouldn't come out so I…" He coughed again. "I thought that if I did a c-section and gave Amy my blood to make up for it, then my boy would have a chance to live!"
Sean's jaw hit the floor. "I think I'll forget that I just heard what you said."
"Yeah, that's a good idea for your sake," Amy told him, then looked down and gave her small son a kiss on his forehead.
"Okay, let's go!" Sean cried, ordering Amy to be wheeled down the corridor while he followed, looking at Kol. "She seems all right and so does Froy, so I think you did remarkably well, but…under the circumstances especially, I think it would be best to check Amy's vital signs and see if there's anything that Froy is dealing with as a result of his delivery or anything else."
"Oh, sure," Kol nodded. "You're not going to get any objections from me. They're the two most precious people in my life and I want to make sure they're healthy." He followed Sean, only stopping as Elijah joined them. "Kol!"
"What are you doing here?" Amy asked, worried. "Is there something wrong with Selina or your baby?"
"What happened, brother?" Kol added. "You can tell us."
"Everything is fine, don't worry," Elijah shook his head. "I'm the one who should be worried about you." Then he grinned as he looked at the baby in Amy's arms.
"Don't worry about me," Selina called from her from her room. "I'm fine! I'm in labor but the baby is taking her sweet time."
"What a relief!" Amy yelled back. "I'm glad to hear it." Then she smiled at her son. "Froy, meet your uncle Elijah."
"Glad to meet you, Froy," Elijah grinned and caressed the baby's head gently. "So…" he asked Kol. "Was what you told Sean true? About the delivery?"
"Yes," Kol nodded. "Even I couldn't make something like that up. Amy did in fact get stuck in the elevator as she made her way up to the penthouse, then I got in there and helped deliver our son."
"Yes, you did," Elijah put a hand on his shoulder. "Like a true Mikaelson. I'm very proud of you, brother."
"Sorry to break things up, but I really need to get Amy and the baby into their room for observation," Sean said apologetically as Amy's stretcher made its way down the corridor.
"I'll be fine," Amy told Kol, looking over her shoulder. "You stay with Elijah and Selina! Let me know if anything new happens! I love you!"
"I love you too, Amy," Kol called in return, tears filling his eyes.
Elijah lowered his eyes to hide his grin as he pushed his brother into Selina's room.
"Did you hear?" Kol asked excitedly, smiling at Selina who did not hesitate to smile back. "Did you hear my wife say that she loves me?"
"Does she?" Selina gave Elijah a wink. "Did you hear that Amy loves your brother, honey? Isn't that a giant surprise?"
"Oh, yes," Elijah agreed, nodding teasingly. "It's about damn time! It took so long!"
"Yeah," Kol blushed and lowered his eyes. "It sure did."
Elijah entered Selina's bedroom and sat next to her bed.
"So, Kol is with Amy now?" Selina asked, putting her magazine down.
"Yes," Elijah nodded. "She's settled comfortably in her room, and the baby is in the nursery."
"Thank goodness for that," Selina breathed a sigh of relief.
"You can say that again," Elijah smiled an ran his fingers through her hair and then put them together. "Our new nephew's name is Froy."
"It's a lovely name," Selina smiled. "Unusual but lovely." Then she frowned as he took the handkerchief out of his pocket. "Don't tell me you need to fold the damn thing again."
"No," Elijah shook his head. "I just need to blow my nose. Do I need your permission?"
She wrinkled her nose and made a noise of disgust. "Really? Ever hear of disposable tissues, old man?"
"Really, Selina?" He snapped. "Why are we even together so much if I always get on your nerves? Would you rather have a biker in a leather jacket with chains, tattoos, and long hair? I don't think I would look good like that, but who knows what your kinks are anymore?"
"Well, that would be an interesting experience," she winked. "Something new and different."
"Of course, because I'm a boring old man, so what would you want me for?" He growled.
"Because you're an old man I love very much," Selina smiled and squeezed his hand. "You know that I love you in spite of, or even because of, all your little quirks. Because with a single look in my direction, you make my heart beat faster and faster. Because you're so sexy that sometimes I wonder what you want to do with me to start with."
Elijah chuckled and gave her a wink. "Well, you got injured and needed a bath, so I gave you one. That's when it really started I think."
Selina chuckled. "Oh, yes. Don't you remind me of that. It was one of the most embarrassing experiences of my life!"
"Oh, I think I had it worse," Elijah replied. "You don't know how hard it was to strip you naked when…when you couldn't be mine."
Selina blushed a little. "It's not hard for you now, is it?"
"No, of course not," Elijah shook his head. "The size of our family should tell you that."
Just then, there was a knock on the open door. "Excuse me," Sean told them. "Now that I have a few seconds, I thought I would check on you two. Still hanging in there?"
"What other choice do we have?" Elijah rolled his eyes.
"My husband isn't a patient man," Selina explained. "Usually our babies come quicker than this."
"Look at that," Elijah shook his head. "The woman who fought me over a ball is giving me a lecture about patience."
Sean shook his head and grinned. "You two are something else. Oh, and one more thing: Don't freak out, but I wanted to let you know that another ambulance is on the way. My granddaughter Angelica is in this one."
"What?" Both Elijah and Selina said at the same time, springing up in shock.
"Don't worry," Sean shook his head. "This time, the paramedics told me more. It seems incredible that all of you ladies would give birth on the same day, but it seems like it's in the stars." Sean Grinned. "Angelica gave birth to a healthy baby girl in the middle of a tornado that seems to have just ravaged his and Angelica's hacienda."
"What?" Selina cried.
"Are you sure they're all right?" Elijah asked, his jaw hitting the floor.
"Well, the fire department is there now, and the house will need some TLC. It's still raining buckets outside and the power is still out, but it's nothing that can't be fixed. They should be here in a few minutes."
"So nice to hear that other women are able to give birth faster in worse conditions." Elijah heaved a big sigh.
"Really, Elijah?" Selina spat through clenched teeth. "You think I'm happy in this situation? You think I'm doing this on purpose? I can't even have drugs for the pain cause they're morphine based, and I don't want to be back on the drug train after I worked so hard to get off it in the nineties!"
"Be nice to my grandma, Elijah," Sean chided gently. "The fact that the birth of your daughter is taking a long time is nothing to worry about. Have you thought up a name for her?"
"Yes, Turtle," Elijah said, shaking his head.
"You see," Selina added. "My husband here thinks that my va-" Selina began before Elijah cut her off.
"Don't you say it, Selina Warren Mikaelson," he snapped, pointing at her warningly.
"I see why you might be sensitive about your wife's intimate parts, Elijah," Sean remarked with a chuckle. "And I mention this purely from a medical standpoint, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with my grandmother's vagina." He paused. "But if it makes you feel better, I won't be the one delivering your daughter. I'll leave that to my colleague, Dr. Linda Williamson. She's wonderful. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go tend to Klaus and Angelica."
"You've got to be kidding me," Elijah collapsed in his chair and let out a breath as his wife's laughter echoed in his ears.
Klaus followed the two paramedics that were pushing Angelica's stretcher in the hospital. He was carrying their baby daughter, who'd named Victoria Joy. She was wrapped in a blanket covered with bunnies and sleeping very soundly.
"Is she okay?" Angelica cried. "Tell me that she's all right!" She struggled against the paramedics as they urged her down and to relax. She wanted nothing more than to get a glimpse of her daughter.
"Who?" Klaus gave her a wicked but good-natured grin as they made their way to the reception desk.
"You know damn well who!" Angelica cried. "Our daughter!"
"Oh, her," Klaus nodded and spoke teasingly. "I dropped her in the garbage cause I couldn't be bothered with another child, whether it was ours or not."
"What?" She yelled, sitting up again and going pale.
"Come on, Angel," Klaus reassured her, possibly realizing he might have gone too far. "Take a deep breath! She's right here!" He came up beside her to show the beautiful baby girl. "She's tucked safely in her daddy's arms."
"I hate you!" Angelica cried. "Why do you always do this to me? You know how I am!" She heaved a sigh of relief and finally allowing herself to rest and relax on the stretcher.
"How you are? You mean a neurotic freak on drugs?" He chuckled.
Angelica started to respond, but Sean cut her off. "Don't you think that you've caused my granddaughter enough stress, Mr. Mikaelson? Instead of giving her trouble and leading her into danger, you could keep her safe!"
"If I put her in danger or caused her stress, it certainly wasn't intentional," Klaus explained. "It would be very easy for me to disembowel hundreds of men, ripping out their hearts and guts with my teeth if I wanted, if that's what was needed to protect your granddaughter. But I can only do so much against a tornado! I say that respectfully, Sean!" Klaus spoke through clenched teeth.
"Grandpa, Klaus, the father of my baby girl, was there for me in more ways than one, in one of the most horrific time of my life," Angelica broke in at last to defend her man, chin raised. "Please don't give him any trouble."
"That's the problem with Klaus Mikaelson, Angelica," Sean said, tit for tat. "He's been with a lot of women in this city." He paused, putting his stethoscope on her heart. "Take a deep breath, please."
Angelica nodded and took a deep breath.
"Do you mean I married a lot of women or slept with them?" Klaus asked, grinning.
"Does it make any difference with you?" Sean asked dryly as he put the stethoscope back. "Now, if you don't mind, I'll take my great-granddaughter, please." He took her before Klaus could say a word. "It's time for her and Angelica to come with me for observation."
"Of course," Klaus nodded. "It's why we're here, isn't it?" He paused. "Now, just to clarify a few things…"
"No," Angelica shook her head, mumbling angrily under her breath. "Zip it, Klaus!"
"Yes, I've been with a lot of women in my life, Sean," he confirmed. "A life that is much longer than yours, I may add. But I was lucky enough to find the one, just like you. I won't apologize for my past relationships to you or anyone else. I know that wee-wee and I will make your granddaughter very happy."
"Oh, my gosh!" Angelica buried her head in her hands so no one would see she was blushing bright red.
"Who the hell is wee-wee?" Sean asked, frowning in disgust as he clutched Victoria to his chest.
"That's what I want to know too, Elijah agreed as he approached the group curiously.
"What are you doing here?" Klaus asked his brother, dumbfounded.
"Nothing bad, I hope?" Angelica asked worryingly. "Did something happen to Aunt Selina?"
"Oh, nothing horrible, dear," Elijah reassured her with a shake of his head. "Selina and I are waiting for our own daughter to be born but she's taking her sweet time!"
"Well, that's reassuring," Angelica breathed a sigh of relief. "And please, Elijah, forget what you heard about wee-wee." She was close to getting on her knees and begging. "Please, please, please!"
"Gladly," Elijah assured her. "How are you feeling? I heard you endured something terrible!
"There's a giant tree in our living room but other than that, we're fine," Klaus winked.
"And I guess this is my new niece," Elijah approached Sean, caressing Victoria's head gently.
"Yes," Angelica nodded proudly. "Meet Victoria Joy."
"That's a beautiful name," Elijah commented with a smile.
"Are we done here?" Sean interrupted. "When I said that Angelica and Victoria needed to be taken for observation, I meant it." He then signaled for the stretcher to go down the hallway.
"What did you do to him now?" Elijah asked Klaus tiredly.
"You mean other than delivering a baby while being stuck in a tornado while the woman I love freaked the hell out?" Klaus pointed out, hands on his waist.
"Yes, other than that," Elijah sighed, gesturing for his brother to walk beside him. "Come with me to Selina's room. Oh, and by the way, Kol and Amy had their baby boy. Kol delivered him in an elevator."
"Totally up Kol's alley, wouldn't you say? Klaus asked with a grin.
"You couldn't be more right." Elijah cleared his throat. "What about you and Sean?"
Klaus shrugged. "I know I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, but…not with Angelica. And I won't let anyone tell me how to have a relationship with her. Not her father, not Sean, not anyone!" He entered Selina's bedroom.
"Good for you!" Selina remarked and put her magazine down. "So? How are Angelica and the baby? All right, I hope?"
"Oh, yes," Klaus grinned. "Both in perfect health. The weather was tougher than the delivery."
"Well, I have complete confidence in you against a tornado," Selina remarked with a wink.
"Thank you, dear Selina," Klaus grinned. "It's nice to have another person in my corner.
"I have to say that you've really changed since you met my niece," Selina remarked. "And she has too."
"In a weird way, we work very well together," Klaus replied with a blush.
"Who's this Wee-Wee you mentioned to Sean?" Elijah asked.
"Oh, I can't believe you're asking," Selina rolled her eyes.
Klaus lowered his head, chuckling.
"You know who it is?" Elijah asked, staring at Selina in shock, his jaw dropping.
"I didn't name him!" Klaus cried. "Angelica did it when she was drunk!"
"Would someone please explain to me?" Elijah cried. "What am I missing?"
"I would tell you, but you've forbidden me to talk about it, and you know how much I dislike to upset my lord and master," Selina drawled with a shrug.
Klaus tilted his head, smirking at his brother and pointing toward his crotch.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" his brother blushed, shaking his head as Klaus and Selina had another laugh at his expense.
"Sign papers for Angelica and Victoria so we can get them taken care of," Sean demanded of Klaus, who agreed immediately and took the pen to sign what he was offered.
"Were you thinking that I wouldn't?" Klaus asked as he handed the pen back. "I know you and I have our differences, and you're not the first to disapprove of my relationship with Angelica, but we both want the best for Angelica and Victoria too." He handed the paper back to him.
"So you say," Sean replied, snatching them out of his grasp and handing them to the clerk to be filed away.
Then they both turned simultaneously toward the front doors as a call for help met their ears.
"Someone, anyone…I need help! A woman has just given birth and she and the baby are in my car!"
Klaus and Sean looked at one another and Klaus spoke first. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Yep," Sean nodded, as they hurried to reach Julian Johnson.
"The woman in your car, do you know her name?" Sean asked the tall man?
"Is she who we think she is?" Klaus added.
"Eleanor Mikaelson, I mean…damn it!" Julian swore through clenched teeth and shook his head. "I mean Eleanor Morningstar. She's the woman in my car."
"Well, hello, Julian. I won't even ask how this came about," Klaus told him with a smirk. "But what I feel is best to get out on the table before you go any further is…this is Dr. Sean Mikaelson…Eleanor's father. And Sean, meet Julian Johnson, your daughter's former lover. Am I correct that you're 'former'?"
"Not now, Klaus," Julian warned angrily.
"Where's your car?" Sean asked Julian before gesturing at a nurse to follow him with a wheelchair.
"It's parked just in front of the hospital," Julian replied immediately." I didn't want her to have to go a long way after getting out." He then strode through the sliding doors with the two other men on his heels.
"Where did you find her?" Sean questioned. Then, more suspiciously: "Was she with you?"
"No," Julian shook his head. "I was driving in the storm and stopped when I saw a woman in distress near her car, which seemed to have stalled or run out of gas or something. When I got closer, I realized it was your daughter. Then, one thing led to another, and before you know it, I was helping her give birth to…to her baby girl."
"That sounds like being at the right place at the right time to me!" Klaus teased, trying to lighten the mood.
They reached the mustang and Sean stuck his head through the open passenger door to speak to Ellie. From the urgency in Julian's voice, she probably wasn't in the best shape. "Eleanor! Ellie Bean, are you all right?"
"I'm fine, Daddy, just a little tired. I apologize if the man who came in the hospital screaming about me worried you unnecessarily." Then she gave him a shy smile. "Would you like to meet your new granddaughter?"
Sean immediately looked at the baby girl she was holding. "She's beautiful, but I would feel much better if the two of you were in a wheelchair and on your way inside."
She nodded and he and the nurse helped her out of the car. Then, Julian began pacing, his hand running through his long, thick hair.
"Why do I get the feeling that what happened here was more than just a chance meeting on the side of the road?" Klaus murmured.
"It wasn't anything!" Julian spat. "That woman has turned my life upside down, Klaus!" He pointed toward the empty car and continued to speak angrily.
"Yes and she seems to be good at getting a reaction out of you too! But you're still here and willing to save her, aren't you, Julian?" Klaus pointed out. "That in itself has to mean something!"
"Yeah, sure," Julian rolled his eyes at the dark, menacing sky. "Whatever, Klaus!"
"Okay," Sean said to Ellie as he squatted by the wheelchair. "You two seem to be settled. Are you okay?" He grabbed Ellie's hand.
"Yes," Ellie squeezed back. "Victoria and I are fine, Daddy."
The nurse then began rolling the chair toward the hospital and underneath the overhang to get them out of the rain, although it brought them in contact with Klaus and Julian just in front of the doors.
"You can go now," Ellie hissed at her former lover. "Me and my daughter, we don't want be a burden to you!"
"Oh, now you want me to go!" Julian lashed out. "Now that everyone is here and you know that they couldn't be bothered by your lies!"
"Okay, let's just calm down, shall we? Don't say something you'll regret," Klaus warned, putting a hand on his friend's chest.
"Don't you yell at my daughter!" Sean stabbed a finger in Julian's direction. "I'm grateful that you were there when she needed you, but I refuse to tolerate you raising your voice at a woman who just gave birth!"
"You're grateful?" Julian chuckled. "At least you are, because I'm not! You know why? Because your precious daughter told me the baby was mine! Another one of the many lies she's thrown in my face since the first day I met her! But since you seem to feel that she's the wronged party here, please accept my apologies for lashing out!"
They then stood in silence, with Ellie looking down at her lap instead of meeting anyone's eyes.
"Eleanor?" Her father's voice demanded an answer.
"What?" She swallowed nervously and kissed her daughter's head.
"Is that man the baby's father?" Sean's voice was firm.
"Yes, but it doesn't matter," Ellie shook her head. "He doesn't give a fuck about it!"
"Oh, that's precious!" Julian laughed humorlessly. "I don't give a fuck about it? You think I don't?" He threw his words in her face, pointing at his own chest.
"Okay, once again, let's all just calm down!" Klaus grabbed Julian's arm and held it in a firm grip. "Go inside and we'll continue this conversation in a few minutes."
Julian growled, freed his arm, and strode through the automatic hospital doors.
"I…I'm sorry, Daddy," Ellie apologized as tears filled her eyes.
Sean shook his head. "You're a grown woman, Eleanor, and you can make your own choices. I know it's not my place to judge, especially since both your mother and I were both seeing other people when we found our way back to each other. But the man deserves definite answers. He's not wrong about that. I'll need to run some simple, painless tests on your baby girl and confirm that he is indeed my granddaughter's father."
"Do what you need to do," she replied tonelessly, and then looked up at Klaus. "What are you doing here?"
"Angelica gave birth to our daughter too. You get to be a mom and a grandma in the same day," Klaus announced, smiling.
"What?" Ellie grinned. "I'm so happy for her…and for you! Both of you! But…is she all right? Is the baby?" She tried not to sound worried, but she couldn't help it!
"They are both in perfect health, Ellie Bean, although it's to be expected that the storm has made your daughter a bit frazzled. Now I think it would be best if we all went all the way inside. Don't you think?" Sean asked.
Selina, Elijah, and Kol all raised their heads as Klaus entered the room, staring as he put his hands on his waist.
"Kol," he greeted his youngest brother. "I heard you're the father of a boy. Congratulations!"
"I am," Kol nodded. "And…you had a little girl?"
"Yes," Klaus nodded, his cheeks colored by a light blush. "A beauty like her mother." Then he turned to Selina. "Your daughter still not cooperating by leaving your vagina, Selina?"
"That's right," Selina heaved a big sigh. "Unlike her siblings, this one is taking her sweet time."
"Niklaus!" Elijah scolded his brother. "Do you mind?"
"Don't you mind him," Klaus told Kol. "He's very sensitive when it comes to talking about private body parts."
"No surprise there," Kol nodded with a grin. "He's always been that way." He paused. "That said, in spite of that, I would guess he's the dirtiest in the bed of all us Mikaelsons."
"He is!" Selina interrupted. "I can attest to that!" She then bit her lip to try not to laugh as her husband gave her a stunned look.
"I'm not going to say anything in response to something so crude and disgusting," Elijah scowled at his wife and brother before changing the subject. "So…where have you been? Didn't you leave ages ago to sign some papers for Sean?"
"Yes, that is exactly what I did," Klaus nodded. "But then I ran into a slight problem that needed to be fixed."
"What sort of problem?" Selina asked nervously. "Did someone get hurt?"
"Well…" Klaus headed to the door of the hospital room and stuck his head out. "Julian, would you like to come in and say 'Hello'?"
A tall man with dark hair and a somewhat unruly beard came into the room as he stared at everyone inside. "I…I don't need to. I don't want to bother these people."
"Oh, these aren't people!" Klaus shrugged off his concern. "You know Elijah, right? This is my other brother, Kol, and the lovely lady in the bed is Elijah's wife, Selina."
"Nice to meet you officially, Julian," Selina smiled and waved from the bed.
"Likewise," Julian replied, polite but detached.
"Julian, what are you doing here?" Elijah asked, dumbfounded.
The young man growled and began tapping his foot on the floor.
"You see, Eleanor just gave birth to a baby girl," Klaus explained, being cut off rather savagely.
"That…that woman destroyed my entire life!" Julian raged, pacing back and forth at the foot of Selina's bed as everyone stared, unable to look away. "She lied to me, manipulated me, and was partly responsible for my grandmother's death!" He ticked each one of Ellie's offenses off on his fingers. "And now she has the audacity to claim that the baby I helped deliver when she got stranded on the side of the road is mine!"
Still smiling, Kol lowered his eyes as the other two men also looked away, and Selina just kept grinning without saying a word.
"Why? Why are you all acting like this?" Julian asked as he breathed hard and tried to stay calm, not wanting to make a fool of himself in a room full of people who were by and large strangers to him (with the exception of Klaus, of course.)
"Well, I don't know you very well, Julian, but even if Eleanor has lied to you before for reasons of her own, in this case you might want to listen to her. You wouldn't want to miss out on anything if she's telling you the truth, right?" Selina asked gently.
"I have to say, you shouldn't be surprised if you find out she's telling the truth," Kol added, his arms crossed over his bulging chest.
"And definitely a blessing for that sweet little girl!" Elijah added.
"You're not going to be alone, if that's what you're worried about," Klaus added with a wink. "All for one and one for all."
"No, no," Julian shook his head stubbornly. "It's a lie! She lied to me again and again. Now can't be any different."
"Well, this time, my daughter is telling the truth, my boy," came Sean's voice. "And I have the evidence that should be enough for you."
He came inside, holding a file firmly in his hands. "With my daughter's permission, I did some harmless tests on the child. She's part human, part supernatural. You were human before you were turned by Klaus, were you not?"
"Yes," Julian swallowed. "But it still doesn't prove shit. It could still be Lucifer's. Who the hell knows what angel DNA can look like?"
"No, it couldn't Lucifer's," Sean said firmly. "Thanks to my grandchildren, I'm very aware of what angel DNA (if that's what you want to call it) looks like. Lucifer's makeup is part demon and part angel. We still need to do a blood test to confirm it undeniably, but it seems like no one other than you could be the father."
Julian went pale and swayed on his feet. "Oh, my god. I'm a father."
"Congrats, man!" Kol said.
"Do you want to continue with this?" Sean asked. "Do you want to do the final blood test with your daughter and know for sure?"
"Y-yes," Julian swallowed. "Please."
Then come with me," Sean gestured to him. They both left the room to their thoughts.
"What a relief that Lucifer, that asshole, didn't put another child on the earth," Kol remarked. Then he looked guiltily up at Klaus. "Not that all of his children are bad. I just…I think I like that Julian guy!"
Elijah heaved a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Kol! Thank you for saying what we were all thinking."
"How's Eleanor?" Selina asked Klaus worryingly. "From the sound of things, Julian's not really in the mood to make things easy for her. Not that I blame him, but…"
"She seems to be in good health," Klaus replied. "And the baby is quite an angel." He smiled. "I don't know what will happen next, but anything is better than being with Lucifer by now. Here's hoping she gets rid of him for good…and soon."
"She's a real beauty, Selina," Amy remarked from her wheelchair near Kol as she cuddled baby Froy.
"She is, isn't she?" Selina agreed, clutching her own little girl, Elise Florence Mikaelson, who, at long last, had decided to grace them with her presence.
"Is her daddy proud?" Kol nudged Elijah and gave him a wink.
"Proud and definitely relieved that when she did finally come, it was with very little trouble," Elijah winked back, then bent over to kiss his daughter's forehead gently.
"Shush, everyone," Klaus said, leaving his spot near Angelica, who held Victoria tightly, to go and close the door. "Sean said that we couldn't have this many people in a room at once! He warned us to keep it down or the nurses will have our heads on sticks!"
Selina looked around at all the men. "I don't see how we ladies could be punished, but are you sure she threatened your heads? I think threatening all your wee-wees would be a much more effective deterrent." She laughed.
"Selina!" Elijah scolded his wife.
"Don't tell me you said…in front of other people besides…" Angelica narrowed her eyes and heaved a big sigh, covering baby Victoria's ears.
"Well, I mean…" Klaus came back to the group. "Do you have to make a big fuss about nothing now, Angel? Can't we just enjoy being together and welcoming our new arrivals into the family?"
"Sure," Angelica nodded, lips pursed. "And then, when you least expect it, I'll kill you in your sleep."
"Who's wee-wee?" Ellie asked curiously as she cuddled her baby.
"It's nothing important," Elijah coughed uncomfortably as he rushed to change the subject. "So…what's your beautiful daughter's name, Eleanor?"
"Well, when Julian and I were first…together, I asked him what he would name his daughter when he had one, and he said he would name her Diana after his mother. I'm going to honor that and call her Diana Dove." She took a deep breath and stared down into little Diana's big eyes.
"When you say Dove, do you mean that pretty lake by the woods?" Kol asked.
"Yes," Ellie nodded as tears filled her eyes. "It just…it has lots of happy memories for me."
"Happy memories with Julian?" Selina blurted out cause she was the only one brave enough to be so blunt.
Ellie raised her head, her expression somber. "I don't want to talk about him."
"He…he left the hospital not too long ago," Klaus told her directly. "Were you able to talk to him?"
"What I told him about her paternity is the truth," Ellie took a deep breath and cuddled Diana again. "And my father proved it with a blood test. So, Julian wants his daughter now."
They looked at each other as an uncomfortable silence filled the room.
"Eleanor, you found yourself a good man," Elijah tried to soothe her. "Naturally, he's wound up and angry now, but…I'm sure it will pass. I'm sure he'll be able to find a place in his life for both of you."
"He hates me with a passion and I don't blame him," Ellie conceded, turning her head to sneeze so she wouldn't cry. "I played with fire and I got burned."
"I haven't known him long, but I don't think he hates you," Kol commented honestly as he got closer to Amy. "Sometimes people struggle with expressing how they feel. They can make it seem like they don't care when they really do." He reached out for Amy's hand and squeezed it hard.
"I agree with Kol," Selina added.
Angelica shifted uncomfortably in her wheelchair, wanting to add encouraging words, but not knowing how as she tried to catch a breath.
"Are you mad at me for lying to you about who Diana's father is?" Her mother asked bluntly. No use tiptoeing around it. She was like an open book.
"I…we don't need to do this." Angelica closed her eyes. "I'm not gonna condemn you anymore. I'm too tired. It's uncomfortable to think about but…I'm glad you're safe and that Diana Dove is safe."
"I know you have every reason to…to not to but…will you love her?" Ellie begged as everyone held their breaths.
"Will you love Victoria?" Angelica countered, looking into her mother's eyes. "And…and will you still love…me?"
"Of course!" Ellie cried, her heart breaking. She was no fool. She knew that Angelica might feel she was losing her mother too. "Of course, I'll love Victoria! And I'll love you. With all my heart. Like I always have."
"Even if Victoria is a lot like her father?" Klaus winked.
"Well, that'll just make her even more interesting, won't it?" Ellie teased.
"Then…Then I'll learn to love Diana Dove," Angelica took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "Because she's still my sister and…she deserves to be loved."
"Thank you," Ellie held out a hand to her, which Angelica took and squeezed hard, tears in her eyes,
Klaus and Elijah hurried over to confer with Kol, with Klaus bending down to whisper in his brother's ear.
"What are the chances of these four women all giving birth on the same stormy night?"
"Do you think it's something to do with powerful magic? What could Steve have in mind that would make him start something powerful involving us all?" Elijah added.
Kol looked up at his brother and spoke firmly. "I agree that something could be up. Leave it to me to investigate because I don't believe pure coincidences. All this happened for a reason. And I'm going to find out what it is!"
