Chapter 38 Tale

Ruby, Maui, Chelsea, Shark, and Piranha swam through the temple for a few minutes, until they came across what appeared to be a large stairway that lead up and it appeared to have air. Chelsea turned her mermaid tail into legs, Maui changed into his human form, and Ruby shrunk down and changed back into her humanoid form. The three of them along with Shark and Piranha walked up the stairs being on their guard for any traps or the World Gobbler, but so far there didn't appear to be any danger. They travel up the stairs and came across a large chamber with walls decorated with wall carvings duplicating mermaids and krakens.
"What does it mean?" Asked Shark looking at the carvings.
"I think these carvings are telling some kind of story from ancient times." Said Ruby.
"A story about what exactly?" Asked Piranha.
"I think it might be a story about how the Instrument of Destruction came to be." Said Chelsea.
The little group closely inspected the carvings and Chelsea saw what appeared to be the words written for a spell beneath a picture of a mermaid and alerted the others about it.
"So this is some kind of spell?" Asked Maui.
"Yeah it is. I think it's supposed to show us history in some way. Think I should activate it?" Said Chelsea looking at her friends.
"I say do it. The information could be useful or at the least be interesting since we're the first ones who have entered this temple in who knows how many years." Said Ruby and the others agreed with her.
"Alright here it goes. Ancient seas hear my word show us times of old." Said Chelsea as she read the spell.
At first nothing happened and then the carvings began to glow and peel themselves off the wall much to everyone's surprise. The mermaid carving that had been over the spell changed and took on more life-like qualities until the group found themselves facing a beautiful mermaid, with the fish part of her body having lionfish-like qualities. She had long red ocher hair tied at the end, wearing a matching orange crown, orange top with shells on her chest, a white pearl necklace, and blue spiral shell earrings.
"I am Saleen and this is my story." Said the mermaid as she hovered in the air.
"Is that a ghost?!" Asked Piranha with fear in his eyes.
"I don't to mess with no ghost!" Cried Shark.
"No I don't think that's a ghost. This is a magi recording from Saleen. I think it's going tell us a story." Said Chelsea calming the two down.
"Long ago mermaids and krakens lived in harmony protecting humans as they sailed the sea. I was gifted in song magic and sorcery and I used my powers to see how music affected all manners of life in the world. It was a peaceful time, until one day a group of giant krakens went rogue and tried to overthrow the Kraken Queen of my time and bring chaos to the ocean." Said Saleen.
The group watched as some pictures of giant krakens floated about attacking other krakens, mermaids, and humans.
"It was a horrific time and I used all my knowledge and skills to aid the Kraken Queen and her people, which lead to me discovery and creating music that allowed me to takeover and control krakens, including giant krakens. With this power I was able to help defeat the rogue krakens and end their reign of terror on the sea." Said Saleen.
The pictures of the giant krakens looked subdued as other krakens tied them up.
"However I soon came to realize that though I did create a instrument that could deal with dangerous and rogue krakens it put the rest of the kraken people in great danger. Some wicked minded mermaids and a few humans tried to steal my creation from me to take control of the kraken people for their own purposes, but I stopped them. But I knew it was only a matter of time till someone with a wicked heart and intentions would overpower me and steal the instrument from me putting the world at risk." Said Saleen.
Pictures of mermaids and humans with wicked smiles on their faces floated around the area.
"I sought advice from Te Fiti herself and instructed me to construct a temple to keep the instrument safe. With a aid of a giant kraken friend of mine we constructed a great temple, put a few guardians in place, and I put a powerful protection spell that needed keys to bring it down to enter the temple. All that put my mind to ease. I did leave a few records of my work and the temple put that is all." Said Saleen.
A image of the temple floated in the air as a mermaid and giant kraken swam around it.
"Now that brings me to whoever has entered the temple. I don't know what has brought you here, but I do hope you're good hearted and well intentioned. You may leave the temple or continue on towards the Instrument of Destruction, but I do warn you the last guardian standing in your way and a truly deadly force of nature. If you are strong and gifted in music and magic then you will be victorious if not then you will meet a gruesome end. The choice is yours." Said Saleen.
Saleen and the other floating images returned to the wall and became normal carvings again. Ruby, Chelsea, Maui, Shark, and Piranha exchanged looks with each other.
"So do we keep going or turn back?" Asked Chelsea.
"We made it all this way. I say we keep going. Besides with the five of us working together we can handle this final guardian." Said Maui.
"And we never leave a job unfinished no matter how dangerous it is." Said Shark.
"Yeah." Agreed Piranha.
"Well let's hope my voice and my magic are up to the task." Said Chelsea.
"I believe in you Chelsea. We got this. And if your music and magic doesn't work then will figure something out." Said Ruby.
"Alright let's do this." Said Chelsea.
With that said the group moved on to the final guardian and challenge.
