Part 3
Bash opened the car door when they were at their destination. Cricket beamed.
"Freedom, finally!" He cried. He unbuckled himself and was about to make a break for it when Bash grabbed him. Cricket screamed as Bash shut the door.
"Did you think that we would let you go that easily, kid?" He questioned. "Did you think that we were that stupid? Well, you thought wrong!"
"We just brought you to our hideout." Bella explained. Their hideout was a square black building. Cricket looked at it. This is where they lived? He struggled as he was being carried away.
Once in the building, he was thrown into a closet. He was going to run out when Bash shoved him back with his foot.
"No, no, no!" He cried.
"You'll stay there you little pest until we decide what to do with you!" Bella stated. She turned on the lightswitch. "And here, we'll turn on the lights for you. We're not that heartless!"
"Have fun…or I guess, don't!" They both laughed as Bash closed the door. Cricket then kicked the door with all of his might, but it didn't work and he ended up hurting his leg instead. He hopped in pain.
Dang it! He thought to himself. I somehow thought that they'll be dumb and keep the door unlocked. Guess not! He knocked into the back wall and saw something fall to the floor. He looked at it. Was it? It was! The ultra rare Galaxu card, Starmadillo! He picked it up.
"What are you doing here, Starbo?" He asked. "Wait, does this mean that these bad people are Galaxu fans too? Never mind that, Starbo! These are bad people and you don't belong with them! You belong with someone else, someone who is good and not bad." He then thought of someone. "Remy! He was super jealous and had Vasquez duel my grandma Galaxu style because he wanted you all to himself, but now he can! You can go to him instead of these mean people, how do you like that? He'll never let you rot in a danky, little closet like this." He then frowned after he put the card in his overalls pocket. That is, if I can get out and reunite with them and my family!
Vasquez finally could use the phone to place a call. But now was the hard part. Who should he call? He could only make one call a day in jail, so he had to make it count. He could call Remy's parents and tell them. But will they believe him and more importantly will they even pick up? He'll have a better chance at calling Remy. He'll know he'll pick up and listen to him, but he didn't want to worry him and make him more upset than he already is. Oh, he was in a pickle alright.
In the end, he decided to call Russell. He might regret it as soon as Russell saw that it was the jail who was calling, or an unknown number. He might hang up and the call would have been a waste. Still, Vasqeaz had to try. He really hoped he made the right call. He dialed Russell's number.
Russell and his wife were outside searching for Cricket with Bill, Nancy and Gloria when his phone rang. He took it out and looked at it.
"Who is it?" Reshida wanted to know.
"I don't know." Russell told his wife. "It's an unknown number. I'm just going to ignore it and let it ring.".
"Good idea." His wife agreed. "We don't want it to be another scam." Russell smiled.
"Good call, pun not intended." He agreed and they resumed searching as he put his phone away back in his pocket and just let it ring.
Come on, come on! Vasquez thought to himself. Pick up already!
"I'm sorry." The phone answered. "The number that you dialed is currently unavail…." Vasquez sighed and grew angry. He shouted a word that he'd never say to Remy, and he slammed the phone back into its cradle. He knew he should have called Remy instead. He blew his chance today, so he'll have to call him tomorrow. With that, he marched back to his jail cell.
"How?" Remy asked Tilly back at the Green's.
"Vasquez most likely got locked up in a jail in Big City or nearby." Tilly told him. All we have to do is look up the addresses online and look to see if he's there."
"Tilly; you're a genius!"
"Do you know Vasquez's first name? Come to think of it, is Vasquez a first or last name?" Remy was about to speak. "Never mind. He might be the only Vasquez there. Remy, I'm going to need your tablet."
"Okay. I forgot it originally, but likely my parents remembered it and brought it over for me. It's in the basement."
"Then let's go to the basement!" So the kids did just that.
Once in the basement, Tilly turned on the lights. Remy was about to grab his tablet from one of the boxes when Tilly spoke up.
"Uh, Remy?" She spoke. "What's this?"
"What's what?" He wanted to know. He then saw the scroll in Tilly's hand.
"This."
"Oh, that's a scroll my parents got when they were at the National History Museum many years ago. I used to sleep with it every night when I was a baby." Tilly was confused about this.
"You used to have it in bed with you? Why?" Remy shrugged.
"I don't know. I was a weird baby I guess. Vasquez said I refused to part with it."
"Okay? Do you know what it's about?" Remy shrugged again.
"I unfortunately don't know that either. But enough of that. Let's just focus on the task at hand here."
"Right." She put the scroll aside. Remy grabbed his tablet and offered it to Tilly, but she looked at him and shook her head.
"You better use it." Tilly told him. "I fell down a literal rabbit hole online the last time I used your tablet and I don't want to fall for that again." Remy wasn't sure what that was about, but chose to ignore it.
"Okay?" Tilly told Remy what to search for and he did as instructed.
After a while, they found Vasquez's name and mugshot.
"Okay, so Vasquez is in Medium City's Police Station." Tilly stated. "And it seems to be quite a drive."
"I don't care how far it is." Remy said. "I just want to see him."
"And see him you shall. Come, we'll ask Gramma to drive."
"Uh, can your gramma even drive or own a car for that matter? You know what? I don't care. As long as we get there." He put his tablet away. Tilly grabbed the scroll again. Remy was puzzled.
"Uh, Tilly? What are you doing with the scroll?" He wanted to know. Tilly looked at him.
"I was thinking that while we are visiting Vasquez, we show him this. Maybe he'll tell us what it's for." Remy smiled.
"Wow, Tilly, again, you are a genius! I never thought about that." Tilly smiled as well.
"I'm so flattered you think that. Now let's go upstairs." And so, the two went back upstairs. Tilly shut off the light.
"You want me to drive where?!" Alice asked as soon as Tilly told her the location of where it was.
"Please, Mrs. Green?" Remy pleaded with her. "I know it's a long drive, but I really want to see Vasquez. Tilly and I won't bother you on the way over. You won't know we're even there."
"We'll be quiet like church mice." Tilly promised as well. "Maybe talking occasionally, but real quiet like so not to disturb you."
"But, my shows…"
"Pleeeaaaassssseeeee?" Remy begged. Alice looked at his puppy dog face, and sighed. "Very well!" The kids cheered. She got out of her chair and turned off the TV with the remote. "The things I do for my granddaughter and my grandson's friend. Let's get it over with. At least, I'll be far away from that villainous snake then." Remy was offended about this.
"Hang on!" A mad Remy spoke, "Snakey is not villainous! That's an awful thing to say and an awful assumption about snakes in general." Alice sighed.
"Oh, boy!" She told herself and turned around. "What are you on about, boy? What did I say to upset you?"
"You know exactly what you said!"
"Uh, no I don't."
"You said that snakes were villainous."
"Well, they are. Have you ever seen them in movies, tv, or read about them in books? Even the most important book has one as a villain. Most of the time, they are bad news and for good reason."
"I know you have ophidiophobia." Alice was puzzled.
"Ophid…what?" She asked.
"Fear of snakes, Gramma." Tilly explained.
"Oh, yeah. That checks out."
"That doesn't mean you should assume that all snakes are bad! True, some snakes might be bad, but some are good too. Every snake is different, just like people. We can't help with what we look like. It's how we were born, and people should respect that!"
"He's right, Gramma." Tilly said to her grandma. "Big City is pretty diverse with people with yellow, brown, blue, purple, green, and pink skins, among others. We do need to respect other people's differences. If we do that instead of spreading all of this hate in this world, my, it can be a better place to be in."
"And that's why when I grow up, I like to break barriers and history by becoming Big City's first black mayor if there wasn't one already. If an old dog and children can become Smalton's mayor, and a ten-year old can work at a coffee place, I can be the mayor of Big City."
"You sure can, Remy. You can do anything that you set your mind to. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
"I'll be an inspiration for future generations of black kids of Big City and the world. I'm thinking of being one when I'm near the ripe old age of 30. I''ll be a dream come true! I can die a happy man…when I'm much, much older that is. I'm thinking of my eighties." Alice sighed.
"I knew this wasn't just about snakes. But I can still hate snakes, right?"
"You can totally do that, Mrs. Green." Remy replied. "Just don't go to the extreme with your hatred, have respect for people and animals and just let them live their lives."
"Yeah, yeah! Enough of this preachy talk! Come on and let's go where your bodyguard is before I change my mind." She looked at Remy. "Oh, and Remy. You might need to inform your parents on what we're doing." She saw that Remy was already dialing on his phone.
"Way ahead of you, Mrs. Green!" He replied.
"I honestly am surprised that you guys even can still have phones."
"Shhh! It's ringing, Ms. Green! You need to be quiet. I might get an answer any moment and I want to hear." Alice sighed. He was on the phone as he and Tilly followed her to the garage.
Russell took out his phone, saw that it was from his son, answered it and placed it to his ear to listen.
"Remy, what's up?" He asked. "Is something wrong?"
"No, nothing's wrong, Dad." Remy answered on the other end. "I'm just calling to tell you that Tilly's grandmother is taking us to jail." Russell was shocked.
"WHAT?!" Russell began to breathe in and out a few times.
"Oops, sorry, that came out wrong. What I meant to say was,, yes, she is taking us to jail, but just to visit Vasquez…and maybe hopefully bust him out." Remy grew worried when his father didn't respond and heard deep breathing instead. "Dad? You ok? Daaaddddd!" Russell calmed down.
"Sorry, son. I was getting my breath back. Are you trying to give your ol' man a heart attack?"
"Sorry, Dad. That wasn't my intention at all."
"Well, you gave me such a fright that you could have."
"Again, sorry." Russell got mad then.
"Remy, now listen. I don't want you to do this, you hear me? I want you to go back to the house and wait for us there, you got that? Do not visit Vasquez in jail! I repeat. Do NOT vis…."
"Sorry, Dad. Have to go. About to get in the car to drive to jail. Love you. Talk to you later."
"Remy, don't…" Remy then hung up. Russell swore as he put his phone away. His wife was concerned.
"Russell?" She questioned. "What is it? You were on your phone for some time, so I know it wasn't an unknown caller." He looked at her.
"That was our son, Rashida."
"Remy? Are you sure it wasn't an impersonator impersonating our son?" Russell narrowed his eyes.
"Rashida! Don't you know how ridiculous you sound?" Rashida sighed.
"Sorry. I guess this scam situation has left me a bit on edge. It could happen though, someone impersonating our son."
"I guess. But I don't think so, not now at least. It was our son and he and Tilly are going to jail with Tilly's grandma." Rashida was shocked.
"What?!"
"Calm down. It's not what you think. They are just going to visit Vasquez." Rashida sighed with relief, putting her hand to her chest.
"Oh, that's good. I thought it was something bad. I almost had a heart attack."
"Remy nearly gave me one too and it is a bad thing, a very bad thing. He is seeing Vasquez." His wife was confused.
"And how is that a bad thing?"
"Yes, Rashida. You know it is. He's a criminal. I don't want our young son anywhere near him. I can't believe you don't feel the same way."
"And Remy also believes that Vasquez is innocent."
"Wait, you don't think that he is, do you?"
"I honestly don't know what to believe, Russell. He could be, he could not be. The point is he is our son and we need to have faith in him. We can't force anyone to do anything that we want them to do, not even our own children, even if we try so hard to do just have to meet us halfway. Know what I'm saying?" Russell sighed. He then smiled.
"When you're right, you're right. I should never doubt my wife." Rashida smiled.
"That's right. You shouldn't have. Remy will be just fine. Now let's go help find Cricket."
"Sounds like a plan." Bill then came up to them.
"What are you two talking about?" He wanted to know. They looked at him.
"Just that your mother is taking your daughter and our son to jail."
"Oh, well that's fi…wait, what?!"
"I'll explain as we look." And so, they all resumed the search.
While Alice was driving, Tilly was looking at the scroll. She and Remy were both in the backseats. Remy noticed Tilly looking at the scroll.
"What is it, Tilly?" He wanted to know. "What does the scroll say?" Tilly looked at him.
"I don't know. It seems to be an evil plan to overthrow the government?"
"Overthrow the government?"
"Yes. Big City's government to be precise. Oh, and the organization is The Order of the Fang."
"The Order of the Fang?" Tilly nodded,
"Why would a wealthy family like yours own this and why would they buy it from The National History Museum? In fact, why would a museum have it at all?" Remy could only shrug.
"That was ten years ago. I don't know what my parents were thinking back then."
"Can I take a look at it?"
"Sure." She gave it to him. "I'm honestly surprised at why you haven't taken a look at it before now after it's been in your family's possession for years."
"I honestly don't know either. I guess it wasn't to my interest, but now it is." Remy then looked at the scoll.
"Huh!" Remy said about the scroll a bit later. This intrigued Tilly.
"What is it, Remy?" She asked. Remy looked at her.
"This is a plan to overthrow the government. But I'm sure this has nothing to do with Vasquez. He's been so nice to me and my parents for years. He can do no wrong." Tilly smiled.
"I'm sure you're right." She then frowned. Remy grew concerned.
"What is it?"
"This must be really hard for you with all of what's been going on. I'm so sorry. You and your family are such kind people. It's so heartbreaking knowing what you are going through. You guys don't deserve it." Remy frowned too.
"It is." He then smiled. "…and thanks. That means a lot."
"Say, if you don't mind me asking, why was Vasquez arrested in the first place?" Remy then frowned again.
"Don't know. Nobody would tell me which is frustrating. It's also frustrating and unfair why he's in there. I have known him for ten years. My bodyguard would never commit any crime and is innocent. I just know it, but nobody will believe me, not even my own parents, which is also frustrating. All adults are the same. They all live by the stupid saying, 'children should be seen and not heard."
"I believe you." Remy smiled once again.
"Thanks, Tilly. I knew you would."
"Of course. You are the only kid with a bodyguard that I know of, except maybe kids of Presidents. Vasquez is a great bodyguard to you, always protecting you from danger…even when there's no danger to be protected from at all." Remy chucked a little at this.
"Yeah, it is annoying and super frustrating that he can be overprotective at times, but he means well. But mostly, he's pretty great and understanding. That's what I like about him. He's an awesome guy who always comes through and has been there for my family and I through thick and thin." He was then determined. "And we are going to be there for him and bust him out of jail! Oh, and sorry about saying the word frustrating a lot. It must be getting frust… ugh, there, I go again! Just stop, Remy!"
"It's okay. And I don't know how we'll accomplish freeing Vasquez from jail, but I like your determination. I heard horror stories of innocent, falsely accused people who spend decades in prison, some maybe dying there, thus never getting out, which is heartbreaking to say the least. Our justice system needs a change. That's why I want to help you out with Vasquez as much as I can."
"Again, thanks. I really appreciate that. And just like Vaquez will get out of that horrible jail cell, we will find your brother and my best friend in the whole wide world, who's also been there for me, also through thick and thin. I just know it because, oh, well, because we just have to."
"Indeed." She then frowned as she took out her phone. She looked at Remy and sighed. It was time to come clean. She sighed. "Remy? I have a confession to make."
"What is it, Tilly?"
"I have Cricket's telephone number and could have called him anytime." Remy was shocked.
"What? Tilly, that's great! You can call him and he can tell us who kidnapped him and where he is! Wait, why didn't you do that before?"
"Here's the thing, I could have, but didn't because he's with the kidnappers. I didn't want the kidnappers to hear it and take away his phone."
"Good point. Well, why didn't you text him?"
"I didn't want his notification to go off, alerting them as well."
"Hmmmm, good point as well." He then thought of something. "Wait, no!" Tilly was confused.
"No? What do you mean by that, Remy?" Remy looked at her.
"Send it."
"What?"
"You heard me. I said to send him your text."
"But, Remy, You heard why I didn't want to in the first place, right? I…"
"It's a risk, a super, huge one I know. And I don't care. You know why?"
"Because he's my brother and your friend? I don't get it. Why would that make a difference?"
"Tilly, risks are scary to take, but sometimes you have to take them. It is what makes life worth living. If you don't take risks, well, you never know what you're missing out on, and you're not, you know, completely living."
"But I…" She sighed, knowing that he was right. "Remy, I'm scared."
"I know you are and so am I. Just text him, Please? Won't you try? For me?" Tilly sighed again, but nodded. She was then determined.
"You're right, Remy! I have to try. For all of us."
After she sent her earlier message, Remy looked over her shoulder.
"And now, we wait. Oh, and when we get back, Mrs. Green's, hopefully with Vasquez, we can help conquer your fear of snakes."
"Not a chance in the devil's underworld." Alice told him from the rearview mirror."
"Okay. Suit yourself. Thanks for not killing Snaky with your sword."
"I didn't have my sword with me then, but I have it now."
Cricket was in the closet when he heard the Missing Persons Alert on his phone. Man, that was loud. He sure hoped the kidnappers didn't realize it and took his phone away. Wait, his phone! He took it out. He turned off the alert. He then saw the notification, clicked on it, and read the message from his sister.
Tilly: I took a pic of the kidnappers' license plate on the back of their car, so don't worry. We will find you!
Cricket texted back.
Tilly saw that Cricket wrote back. She told this to Remy.
"Write to him back." Remy told her.
"What should I text him?" She asked.
"Tell him that I'm here and we are going to see Vasquez in jail and that I can't wait for both of them to come back to the places where they belong."
"Should I tell him about the scroll?"
"Yes." And so Tilly did just that.
Cricket read Tilly's message explaining everything that Remy told her. He wrote back,
Cricket: Remy's with you? Tell him that my kidnappers got the ultra rare Starmadillo card. Tell him that if I ever get unkidnapped, he should have it. These meanies don't deserve it! They just have the card rotting here in the closet. The CLOSET! Oh, that is where they have me captive right now. Oh, and tell him that it's so cool that you guys found a scroll detailing an evil plan!
Remy perked up when Tilly told him this, ignoring Cricket's fascination with the scroll.
"Stamardillo?" He questioned. He grew mad. "Ugh! Cricket and those crooks have it, and not me, a rich kid whose parents give him everything that a kid wants?"
"Uh, Remy." Tilly began.
"Oh, no, I don't have everything because I don't have Starmadillo, the ultimate rarest card of them all!"
"Remy."
"Life's so not fair. Why does the universe hate me? I'm just a pure and innocent kid that did nothing wrong, so why me!?"
"Remy!" Remy realized he was ranting and calmed down. He was embarrassed,
"Sorry, Tilly. I didn't intend to go on that rant right now."
"It's okay. You are under a lot of stress right now."
"I do want Starmadillo, but do I want it from kidnappers? Oh, what the heck! Cricket's right, they don't deserve it. Tilly, tell Cricket that he will get out and I'll take that card." Tilly wrote that to Cricket.
Cricket: Okay, tell Remy that I'll have Starmadillo all ready for him when I'm free and come ho…
The door then suddenly opened. Cricket looked up and gasped. It was Bash! In his hand was a plateful of food. Cricket tried to hide his phone behind his back, but it was too late. Bash took it from him.
"Were you texting?" He wanted to know. "You're kidnapped, little man. You're not supposed to have your phone. Oh, and this is your dinner by the way." Cricket was shocked at this.
"I am allowed dinner?" He wanted to know as he grabbed his meal.
"Of course. It's like what was said earlier. We're not heartless. Now eat up. You need your nutrition." He shut the door. Good thing he didn't notice the card in my pocket. Cricket thought to himself. If he noticed it and took it, that'd be tragic!
The door suddenly opened again. Cricket looked up from his meal. It was once again Bash. He reached into Cricket's pocket and pulled out the card.
"Hey!" Cricket snapped. "What are you doing?! Don't you have manners? You never just reach into a kid's front pocket without permission, you just don't!"
"Is that a Galaxu card?" He wanted to know. He looked at it. "It is. Is it mine? I've been looking all over for it." He grew mad. "I bet Bella hid it from me. She always hated Galaxu and said that it was for 'dumb children.'"
"My family knows that I'm kidnapped," Cricket told Bash. He looked back at Cricket. "They'll come get me. In fact, that was my sister that I was texting. She and my friend are going to visit my rich friend's bodyguard and if they get him out of jail and get me, he'll kick your butt, my friend's bodyguard that is, not my friend." Bash seemed really interested in this.
"Bodyguard you say?" Cricket realized something and covered his mouth.
"Somehow I don't think I should have said that."
"Maybe not, but I appreciate that. Thanks, kid!"
"Give me back Starmadillo! You don't deserve it! To be honest, I wasn't the best caretaker of the card at first, but I was far better than a starfish!"
"You're not making sense, kid."
"I'm making sense to me. By the way, can you give me back my cell phone?"
"Nope and nope!" Bash shut the door.
Shoot! A disappointed Cricket thought. I think I blurted out too much information and worse of all, he took my phone so I can't warn Remy and Tilly! Well, hopefully the things aren't related to each other and me blabbing isn't going to cause Remy, Tilly and Vasquez any trouble. Oh man, but what if they are? And Starmadillo! I'm too disappointed to eat. He put his food aside. His stomach growled. He took back his plate. Curse my stomach! I'm famished! And with that, he resumed eating.
Bash called his boss.
"What is it, Bash?" Viper Fang answered when he picked up from the other line.
"Didn't you say that guy you framed came from a rich family and was a kid's bodyguard?"
"Tiger Fang? Yeah, what about him?"
"Well, I learned some info that might be interesting to you."
"Oh? Go on, I'm listening." And so Bash told him what he learned from Cricket. Viper Fang beamed.
"Oh, yes, that is interesting! Thanks for the info, Bash. You did good. Tell me more information whenever you learn it." He hung up. Bash put his phone away. He shouted to Bella.
"Yo, Bella! You have some explaining to do about my Starmadillo card!"
"Is Cricket still texting?" Remy asked Tilly after a while. Tilly shook her head.
"No." Tilly told him, "He's not." Remy was shocked.
"Really? That was it?" Tilly nodded.
"That was it."
"Huh, strange. I thought there would have been more, but ok."
"I thought so too."
Alice stopped in the parking lot of the Medium City Police Station. She and the kids got out and headed towards the building.
Once inside, Alice talked to the man behind the front desk. The man led them to where Vasquez was, He talked to someone through a walkie talkie, informing them of Vasquez's visitors.
"Stay close to me, kids." Alice told Remy and Tilly as they followed. "They are wackos in here, so who knows what might happen. The people here may be violent and shout certain words, and they don't care if children are present."
"I don't care about that." Remy said. "I'm about to see Vasquez again. I can hardly wait!"
"This is like when Papa brought Cricket and I to visit Mama when she was in prison." Tilly spoke. "So I know how you feel, Remy, well not exactly because no one can ever feel exactly how another feels, but you know what I mean."
"You two must be really thrilled to see your daddy." The man who was leading them spoke to Tilly and Remy.
"Oh, no he's not our dad." Tilly told him,
"He's my bodyguard, and he's innocent." Remy told him as well. "This was a mistake. He doesn't deserve to be here. You and your coworkers should be ashamed of having h…"
"Remy!" Alice warned him.
"Sorry." But he wasn't sorry at all, but he didn't want to argue either. So he just apologized instead.
The man opened the door to the room where Vasquez was in. Alice and the kids all walked in. Vasquez couldn't believe it when he got up from his chair. A uniformed guard was with him.
"Remy?" Vasquez asked. "Is that you?"
"You guys have ten minutes." The man told them all and shut the door.
"Vasquez!" Remy shouted in glee. He ran to his bodyguard. Vasquez picked him up, hugging him back. The two cried happy tears.
"Oh, Remy! I sure have missed you, my Remy mine."
"I missed you too, Vasquez." Remy said. A sob then escaped him. "Everything is going wrong."
"I know, and once again, I am truly sorry. You guys don't deserve this."
"No, you don't know. It got worse." Vasquez was confused and looked at him.
"Everything besides me being arrested and you and your parents losing the mansion?" Remy didn't want to say it. "Remy?" Remy looked at Vasquez.
"Vasquez, Cricket got kidnapped." Vasquez gasped.
"I knew I heard his scream over the phone." This time, Remy was confused. So was Alice and Tilly.
"What do you mean you heard his scream, Vasquez?" Remy wanted to know.
"Do you know who took my brother?" Tilly questioned him as well. Vasquez put Remy down.
"Remy," He began. "I should have told you this long ago."
"Told me what?" Remy asked.
"Long before you were born, and before I was hired by your parents, I belonged to an organization known as…
"The Order of the Fang?" Vasquez was puzzled.
"Yes, how did you know?"
"We read the scroll." Tilly told him. Vasquez looked at her, confused.
"Scroll?" He asked. Tilly gave it to him. "Wow, I haven't seen this in so long." He looked at Remy. "Since you were a baby, Remy."
"I know." Remy stated. "I outgrew sleeping with it, then Pancake came along and I slept with him instead. But never mind about that. We know what the scroll says. You were part of an evil organization and this was your team's evil plan to overthrow the government, wasn't it?" Vasquez sighed sadly.
"Remy, I can't lie to you. But, yes, yes it was." Remy gasped. "I also broke into your family's mansion when you were a baby and my cohort, Viper Fang, told me to kidnap you when you refused to part with the scroll. I was known as Tiger Fang."
"So, let me get this straight, breaking and entering to retrieve a scroll detailing your evil plan to overthrow the government, and kidnapping a pure and innocent baby?! You did commit crimes! I can't believe it." He was then mad at him. "You lied to me!"
"Remy, no, I didn't. When I looked at you, I couldn't bring myself to take you from your home." Remy began to have angry tears stream down his face.
"I wanted so badly to prove your innocence, and I now hear this?!"
"Remy, please hear me out. I'm a different person now. I did my time. That was such a long time ago. You have to believe me! I will never do those things now. I would take it all back if I could." Remy folded his hands across his chest.
"Save it, Vasquez. I don't want to hear it. And to think, I thought that you could do no wrong. I hate you." Everyone was shocked.
"Surely you don't mean that, Remy?
"I do. I hate you!" Vasquez sighed and felt ashamed of himself.
"Maybe, I should have never joined The Order of the Fang."
"No, you really shouldn't have. But, it's too late for that. And to think that I wanted to bust you out of here, but you can now forget it. You deserve to be in here like all criminals should. Let's go Mrs. Green and Tilly. Sorry we wasted an hour's drive for this."
"Are you sure, Remy?" Tilly asked after walking over to him. "I do think we should give Vasquez another chance. Mama did a crime too, you know, and she did her time and I still love her. I think Vasquez deserves that too." Remy looked at her.
"Tilly, please, I don't feel like talking about this. Let's just go."
"But…" Tilly sighed when she saw Remy's face. "Alright." She and Alice followed a mad Remy. The guard led a still ashamed Vasquez back to his cell.
"You kids were planning on busting Vasquez out of there?" Alice questioned. She then shrugged. "Whatever! I'm too old for a break out anyway, so I'm glad you changed your mind about that, because I wasn't going to get involved in your shenanigans. That's for sure."
"Gramma?" Tilly asked her on the way out of the building. "I could use a bathroom."
"I do too." Alice admitted. She looked at Remy. "You want to use it too, Remy?"
"Nah, I'm good." Remy replied.
"Are you sure? It's a long way back."
"I'm sure." Alice just shrugged.
"Okay, suit yourself. Don't blame me if you have to go while we're on the road and you sure as heck are not going in the car. Can you get to the car from here?"
"Yeah, I can."
"Okay. We'll meet you there then." Remy nodded. They left and he walked outside to the car.
Remy stood outside by the car waiting for Tilly and Alice. He couldn't stop thinking of his fight with Vasquez. He still couldn't believe what went down. He never knew of Vasquez's past. For 10 years, he thought that Vasquez was this perfect saint that never did anything wrong. And because of that, he felt like Vasquez had stabbed him in the back, and he hated him for it. No wonder why his dad didn't want him talking to him. His dad was right. He should have listened to him.
"Hello, little boy that ruined my life." Said a voice. Remy looked at Viper Fang.
"Who are you?" He wanted to know. "And how did I ruin your life exactly? I never saw you in my life." Viper Fang chuckled at this.
"You were a baby when we met, so you simply don't remember, but I remember you all so well, bane of my existence."
"What are you talking about? How did I ruin your life as a baby?"
"You and your family stole Tiger Fang from us!" Remy was very confused by this.
"Tiger Fang? You mean Vasquez?" He then gasped as he realized something. "Wait, you're Viper Fang! Vasquez told me about you." Viper Fang smiled.
"He did?" Remy was mad.
"Yes, and he said that he and you broke into my family's mansion when I was a baby to steal a scroll of your evil plan. That means you are bad news."
"Oh, he did?"
"Yes, he did."
"And since Tiger Fang, or Vasquez, worships you so much, I think you will be the perfect bait."
"Bait? What are you talking about?" Viper Fang grabbed Remy's arm. Remy screamed. "What are you doing?! Let me go!" He shrugged to get free, but couldn't. "Ouch! You're hurting me!" He screamed for help. "Help, police, help! I'm about to be kidnapped!" He sighed when no one came. "Oh, come on! This is a police station parking lot! Why aren't there any police out here? And curse my little pre-puberty tweenage voice for being so pathetic." Once again, Viper Fang laughed.
"You're coming with me, kid!" Viper Fang dragged a struggling and still screaming Remy.
"NOOOOOO!" Viper Fang dragged him to his car. He grabbed Remy's phone from his pocket. Remy panicked even more.
"What are you doing with my phone? Give it back! It's not yours!"
"And just in case you were thinking of calling the police from the car." He chucked it across the parking lot. Remy screamed some more.
"NOOOOOO!" Viper Fang then opened the car door and threw Remy in. He shut the door before Remy could get out. Viper Fang went up front as Remy pounded on the doors, shouting as loudly as he could. Viper Fang sat up front.
"Save your pathetic little voice, kid. It'll do you no good and stop pounding on my door. Buckle up. I like you to be alive when you see my boss." Remy stopped pounding to look at him.
"Wait, boss?"
"Yes. Oh, let me help you." He unbuckled his seatbelt and reached back to buckle up Remy's. Remy screamed and struggled with him again. "Stop struggling you little brat!" He made Remy sit down and buckled him up. "There, all buckled up and ready to go." He buckled himself back up and drove off.
Remy sighed. He didn't think that this day could get any worse, but he was wrong. It did. Much worse. Can this day get any worse?!
