Hello Everybody, this is my second chapter for my story 'The Growth to Bravery'. I hope you will enjoy this chapter. Remember that this is my first time doing this story, so there might be some scenes that might not make sense or are confusing. I will fix those in the future. All Characters are owned by SEGA.

Tails woke up to find himself in a dark place. He was the only one there with just a single flickering light bulb on top of him giving him light to see the rest of the room. Tails tried to get up, but was shocked to find himself tied and strapped into a chair. Tails struggled, swinging his body front and back to try to break the chair, but without any success. In his struggle, he didn't see that a part of the dark place lit up. When Tails noticed, he found two figures, a table, and a machine of some sorts. When Tails started to focus, he found that one figure was none other than Dr. Eggman. The other figure on the table, strapped and struggling to get out was Sonic.
Even though Tails was in the same room, he couldn't hear what both Eggman and Sonic were saying to each other, none acknowledging Tails' existence. Tails then heard the machine start up, which made Sonic afraid. Sonic kicked, pulled the straps in his hands with power and even tried to sit up with more force than before, but it was in vain. Eggman laughed as he pressed a button on the machine. The machine shot out a ray straight at Sonic, electrocuting him for 30 seconds until Eggman stopped it.
Tails could only watch as Sonic was tortured by Eggman, the only thing that was audible for him were the cries of help, the screaming whenever he was electrocuted. Tails wanted to scream to Sonic but no sound came from his mouth, he was in pure shock and fear that he was stationary as a statue. Tears started to form in his eye and fell down to his cheeks as he saw Sonic's body go even limper after 5 minutes. The last thing that Tails saw was Sonic's heartbeat flatline in a screen from the machine and Sonic's hands go limp as he saw no sign of struggle, no screaming, no agony, just death.
In a swift motion, Tails got up, hitting his head on the plane's cockpit controllers that were in front of him. Tails groaned, tears in his eyes and shaken up about the dream that he had. His anxiety level was so high that he thought that his heart could literally pop out of his chest at any moment. Tails just sat there trying to calm down his breathing. He was sweating profusely that even his own chair was enveloped in sweat.
(What was that nightmare) Tails thought to himself as he had finally calmed down. He got up from his seat, got the medkit and cleaned and gauzed his head which was bleeding due to him hitting his head prior. It was 5:23 A.M, very early, but Tails didn't think that he would sleep any time soon, so he decided to check the Tornado to see if there was anything broken or wrong that Eggman could have done when he was unconscious. Tails checked everything, even though his body was very sore, nothing was wrong with the Tornado. This only questioned why Eggman didn't think about destroying the Tornado as he had already captured Sonic and knocked him out.
(Maybe he was just in a hurry to get Sonic to his lair) Tails thought.
Tails got to his seat and changed the cushions before starting up the engine of the Tornado. In a few seconds he was back in the air. It would take about 1 hour to reach the others and Tails had to get there as fast as he could to warn the others about what Eggman had done and the danger this poses to them. During his trip, he started to think about everything that had happened. He realized that now with Sonic captured, Eggman's attack will be harder and more difficult than before. They will likely lose more battles than win them. They had always trusted Sonic to be there to help them win these battles that they had forgotten what to do if Sonic weren't there to help. Many of them had fought the badniks by themselves, but they had little experience defeating an entire army of badniks in the speed that Sonic could destroy them.
Tails knew that now he was alone, he didn't have Sonic to help him fight Eggman, he still had his friends, but they weren't the same. Tails is the closest one to have the same time and experience fighting badniks more than the others, but that didn't mean that he was very brave when fighting them. He would sometimes get in trouble and would plead that Sonic would help or save him. He knew that it was just due to him being young, but now he had to mature. He will no longer want to be treated as a little kid. He will learn the hardships of growing up. He will have to teach himself to beat his phobia of thunderstorms. He will train hard because he knew that everyone depended on him and his friends.
When he ended his realization he was already landing on land. He turned the engine off and jumped from the Tornado's cockpit only to meet a painful feeling on both his legs when he landed on the ground. Tails decided to ignore the pain and run off to inform the others what had happened.
When Tails arrived, he was lucky to find everyone in Amy's house, they had been worried after not hearing from Sonic or Tails. Amy and Knuckles were talking about how they were to reach the island without Tails' Tornado and if they should go there or wait for them to respond on the radio. Cream sat on the couch with the radio on the table waiting for either of them to respond. Tails could see that almost every second she got sadder as she waited. Rouge was also there after she heard the news that neither Sonic or Tails had come back. Tails saw Rouge try to comfort Cream. Shadow was also there with team Chaotix eating breakfast that Vanilla cooked while they waited on any updates.
When Tails walked in and he saw everyone's head turn to him, before he could even say "Hello", the whole entire group came up to him, both Amy and Cream hugged him to death as if they were to release him, he would disappear. Knuckles then hugged the three of them. His hug had such an immense strength that Tails wondered how he hadn't fractured his spine after the three of them hugged him. Shadow and the team Chaotix stopped eating and were in shock to find Tails here, but they stayed in their chair because they were still eating breakfast. Vanilla turned and welcomed Tails in, breaking the hugs as she saw that Tails was in pain from all of the bearhugs.
"Tails, where were you? What happened to Sonic? Why didn't you contact us? What caused your injury?" Everyone was asking Tails before he could even answer the first question. Tails decided to tell everyone to stop talking and let him explain what happened.
"Sonic and I were fighting Eggman and his badniks as always. Sonic then spin dashed and started to destroy the machine, but it was an elaborate plan set up by Eggman to capture Sonic. When Sonic entered the third time, he was electrocuted and stuck in a cage. When I tried to help him, I was shot in the chest and was left unconscious. I woke up yesterday and came here just now" Tails was talking while he was being treated for his wounds by Vanilla. After he was done talking, he told everyone that he was tired as he had only been asleep for about 3 hours. Amy let him sleep in her bed while Vanilla would check on him during his sleep if he ever felt pain or needed comfort after Sonic's capture. Tails was happy and headed to the bedroom. Without a millisecond to spare, he fell into the cozy bed. Sleep came to him fast and the last thing he heard was everyone talking about what to do about Eggman's future attacks and how to save Sonic before he let sleep take him over.
