Hello everyone how's it going today?
I hope you all are doing ok during the holiday season.
Now this chapter will be focused on Shades this time around.
Whoever was following Shades has a connection with him and we're going to find out what kind of connection.
also there are going to be some moves from a show based on a card game in the 2000's that will be the clue.
Now with that said on with the chapter.

Chapter 13: a thunderous clash part 1: the unknown foe
Shades was hopping from rooftop to rooftop as he tried to pin down who or what was coming and it was giving off a lot of power.
'good thing I left Adrien's place as I did otherwise we would've been so screwed.' He thought.
He was about near within the vicinity of Notre Dame when he sensed the presence.
He let out a low growl as he gripped his cane tightly.
"Who's there?" he whispered.
Suddenly the winds howled as if something was coming, something with dark intentions in their hearts.
Then a flash of lightning occurred and suddenly something appeared on the opposite side of the rooftop Shades was on.
"What the hell?" he said.
A mysterious shadowy figure appeared, the only thing that Shades can see is a pair of glowing red eyes coming from the cowl.
"Who are you?" Shades asked.
He took a defensive stance in case there was a fight.
The figure said nothing, instead it took out something that Shades recognized.
"No it can't be." He said in shock.
In the figure's hand was a brooch that was in shape of a panther's head and place it on its chest, and suddenly a light purple orb came out of it and there was a small black panther humanoid like creature with six whiskers on the face and glowing green eyes and a tail.
"Shuri is that you?" asked Shades.
"Hi Shades, I'm sorry to see you again under these circumstances." Shuri said sadly.
"Who are you really and why do you have the Miraculous of the Black Panther?" demanded Shades.
The figure said nothing as it grabs the cloak and then threw it off and reveal their identity.
Shade's eyes widen in pure shock of who it was.
His foe was a man around his age wearing the inverse colors of his suit and cape and he had a dark gold visor on, behind it are red eyes and a dark green cape draped around him. He also has bright green hair and a single scar across his left eye but he still use it.
Shades expression shifted into a snarl as he knew who it was.
He let out a growl.
"Hello there Jack."
"So Shades." The one known as Jack said. "So this is where you've been hiding for a while."
"Yeah so what?" Shades scoffed not in the mood to deal with Jack's crap.
"Well I'm here on a mission." Stated Jack.
"Yeah and what's that?" said Shades.
"To bring you in before my boss and yours for your conducts here." Jack said.
"Not going to happen." Growled Shades.
"I have my orders Shades, we can do this the easy way or the hard way." Jack said.
"You want me? Then let's do this the hard way." Declared Shades.
Jack can see he's not backing down and sighed.
"So be it."
Then he got serious.
"Shuri Now Strike!"
Suddenly Shuri was pulled into the Miraculous and the brooch changed into a head of a black panther with glowing green eyes and 5 pointed shards from underneath it like part of a tribal necklace and they were red.
There was a flash of purple and when it was gone there was Jack wearing a version of the Black Panther suit, except it was a bit darker and it had a ragged cape behind him and razor sharp claws, a sword on his back and the mask's irises had a red tint.
"Call me Shadow Panther." Said Jack as he took a fighting stance.
Shades then drew his sword from the cane and placed the sheath on his back and took a fighting stance as well.
"Jack I am warning you, back off and leave." Said Shades.
"I can't I have my orders." Jack replied.
"Jack I really don't want to this, this is your last warning." Warned Shades.
"Either you fight or I'll go kill the ones you've been helping." Jack taunted.
Shades knew he was right and so he took a deep breath.
"So be it." He said.
Then a flash of lightning flashed across the sky showing the 2 warriors ready to battle.
Then they charged towards each other and the fight begins.
They clashed with their weapons and were locked in a stalemate, they growled as they tried to move and get an inch in, but neither budged.
They jumped back and Shadow Panther charged forward for a strike, but Shades saw it coming and dodged it, he then counter with an arm thrust only for his foe to avoid it and moved back.
'Damn Jack has improve a bit, still better not let my guard down.' Shades thought.
Jack then charged in for another attack and Shades back flipped away and then he moved in and deliver a right hook punch in the face sending him flying.
"Got you, little punk."
Jack felt some damage but the Miraculous help absorbed the damage but it still hurt.
"Lucky shot Shades, but try to dodge this." He said.
"Sonic Claws Strike!"
He had his right hand out and charged up energy into the claws and did one swipe and fired blades of energy towards Shades.
"Tch."
Shades started spinning his sword and sheath fast like propellers to block the attack. It worked but the strength of it made him slide back a bit.
Jack growled.
"Nice try Jack but you gotta do better than that." Shades taunted.
"Inferno Gust!
Shades then let out a gust of fire from his mouth and struck a direct hit on Shadow Panther.
Then he moved in and deliver a slash attack across the chest but then the suit started glowing.
"Uh oh." Shades uttered as he jumped back to put some distance.
He knew what that meant so he had to be careful when attacking him.
'Gotta change places, don't want to damage Notre Dame or any places where people can get hurt.' He thought.
Jack brushed off his shoulders and then charged in for another attack.
He brought his staff out and clash with Shades and his sword and they did some fast pace sword play and they were evenly matched.
"Dark Claw Slash!" shouted Jack.
"Shield of the snake!" countered Shades.
Shades' defense was able to stop Jack's attack but the close proximity from the moves and energy build up send them flying across rooftops before they regain their footing and stopped.
"Damn it, Jack is very strong and with the black panther miraculous added to his powers he's really dangerous." He panted.
He saw that the suit was glowing brightly on the arms, legs and shoulders, meaning he was about 55% charged up.
'a few more attacks like that and the suit will be fully charged up and if I'm not careful, I'm screwed.' He thought.
So he decided to change tactics and location.
Jack can feel the suit getting charged with each attack the energy builds up and it won't be long before he can unleashed the full power of it.
"Now my turn Shades. Vine snare!"
Multiple vines came out of Jack's gloves and managed to ensnare Shades and wrapped him up tight.
"Got you!" he smirked.
"Good Jack, but not good enough." Shades said as he used his strength to break free from it.
But that gave Jack the opening he needed, so he got in close.
"Power pulse!" he said.
He fired an energy pulse at Shades which landed a direct hit in the gut and made him coughed up some blood.
"Looks like I got the upper hand fool." Jack taunted with a smirk.
"Maybe but I can do this SMOKE SURGE!" he bellowed.
He let out clouds of smoke from his mouth that covered Jack in a smokescreen and allowed him to escape.
When it cleared up Jack saw that Shades was on another rooftop.
He was panting but he was hanging in there.
"Ok Jack I think this is gone on long enough, so if you want me, come and get me!" he taunted as he headed in a different direction.
"Ok then Shades game on!" he said and went after him.
Shades kept heading away from Paris and used his speed to put some distance between them and he kept going until he arrived at a place called Goussainville in the northern part of France and he landed in one of the abandoned parts of the town where no one had lived there for years.
He then went into a nearby abandoned building and used some of his powers to heal himself enough to keep on fighting and plenty of time to think of what to do next.
"Man Jack has really gotten stronger since the last time we fought and now he's fighting to kill, so even with my own powers, this was going to be very difficult and things will get out of hand. So he leaves me with no other choice." Shades said.
He closed his eyes and made his own suit vanished and was wearing some clothes but he was in the shadows so no one can see him.
He then pulled something out of his pocket, it was bat shaped brooch and it glowed red and a sphere of red came out of it and it spun around and out came a small grey bat creature with pointy ears and red eyes and with small fangs from the mouth.
"Greetings master Shades." Said the bat creature in a Transylvanian accent.
"Hello there Vlad, I know it's been a while since we last talked, but if I brought you out, you know what that means." Shades said.
"It means we got trouble and somehow one of 'his' warriors has come here." Vlad sighed.
"Yes and Jack has Shuri so we have no other choice but to fight Miraculous with Miraculous, so my friend ready to kick some ass?" said Shades with a smirk.
Vlad smirked back.
"OF course Master, it's been a while since I sank my teeth into battle, you know the words."
"Of course let's do it then." Shades said as he stand up.
He placed the brooch on his shirt.
"Vlad Take Flight!"
and soon Shades transformed into a bat themed hero.
A few minutes later, Jack as Shadow panther arrived looking for Shades and was very pissed off.
"Alright Shades! That's enough of playing tag, come on out and face me!" he yelled.
Jack saw his was losing some stored up energy, he had to tap into it to increased his own speed and catch up with him and that annoyed him.
"Ok Jack here I am!" Shades called out from the shadows.
"What the hell?" Jack said shocked.
Coming out of the shadows what Shades but like Jack he was in a miraculous suit as well.
He was in a bat themed suit that looked something right out of the future. (think of Batman Beyond suit) with the brooch on him with a cape attached and a sword on the back.
He drew out the blade and took a battle stance.
"Ok Jack since we're far away from people we don't need to hold back." Said Shades. "So let's end this."
"Fine by me." Replied Jack with a growl.

Ok that ends part 1 of this chapter.
Sorry for splitting it, but I had to because well I was running out of Ideas and also the holidays are coming up, also I got another story to work on as well.
Now next chapter will be out some time in January.
Now during the time I will be busy with family during the holidays and I am taking the week off from writing so I can recharge for a bit.
So as of this moment, this is the last chapter for 2024.
So some of the moves in the chapter are from a series of trading cards that had a animated series back in the early 2000's. Those are the clues.
But I will say this vol1 of this story will be done sometime in March.
Ok that is it for now, as I am off to get some rest and get ready for the holidays.
