CHAPTER 7: HOLDING THE LINES
N A ROOM
Davi and Alice stood tense and silent, the weight of the previous night's events pressing down on them like a storm about to break. The door slammed shut behind them as General Ironwood was standing by his table, his usually composed demeanor shattered by pure, unbridled fury.
He venomously hit the table before speaking. "HOW COULD YOU?" Ironwood's voice thundered through the room, his eyes blazing with anger as he glared at the two teens. His fists clenched, and for a moment, it seemed like he might lose control entirely. "I warned you, I explicitly warned you to stay vigilant, to not lose your guard for a single moment! And yet, this is what happens?!"
Davi and Alice flinched, feeling the full force of his wrath. Ironwood began pacing the room, his steps heavy and deliberate, his mind clearly racing with the consequences of what had transpired.
"The CCT was attacked under your watch!" Ironwood continued, his voice lowering but no less intense, the fury simmering just below the surface. "Do you have any idea what this means? The communication lines across Remnant were compromised because of your failure! You were entrusted with a mission, a critical one, and you let it slip through your fingers."
Alice swallowed hard, trying to keep her voice steady as she spoke. "We're sorry, General. It won't happen again."
Ironwood stopped in his tracks, fixing them with a cold, hard stare. "Sorry won't restore the CCT, and it won't undo the damage caused last night. Do you realize the gravity of this failure? "
Davi looked down at the floor, the shame and guilt weighing heavily on his shoulders. The room was thick with tension, every second stretching out as they waited for Ironwood's next words.
Ironwood took a deep breath, struggling to contain the raging storm within him. "You had one job, one job to ensure the safety of that tower, to keep our communications secure. "
He turned away from them, staring out the window at the city below, his voice softer but no less filled with disappointment. "This was avoidable, and it should have been avoided."
SOUTHEASTERN VALE
Alice and Davi trudged through the dim streets of southeastern Vale, the weight of their earlier encounter with General Ironwood still hanging over them. The confrontation if one could even call it that was more a one-sided storm of Ironwood's rage, but the tension was undeniable. They were out on another mission now, tasked with a new objective, but the sting of Ironwood's words still lingered.
"Y'know, Ironwood might have some serious anger issues," Davi muttered, kicking a stray pebble. "Probably a lot more than we realize."
Alice remained silent, not wanting to dwell on the memory of Ironwood's fury. The thought of it made her stomach twist uncomfortably. Fortunately, the passing sight of Team RWBY with Professor Oobleck provided the perfect distraction. Alice seized the chance to steer the conversation away from the uncomfortable topic.
"Y'know, sometimes I think they're following us," Alice said, nodding toward Team RWBY as they disappeared around a corner. "It's weird how we always seem to end up in the same place at the same time."
Davi raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the idea. "What if we're the ones following them?" he suggested, his tone half-serious, half-joking. But then, as if struck by a sudden realization, he stopped walking, his eyes widening in mock alarm. "Wait… could we truly be followed if we're the ones following? And who's actually being followed us, or them?"
He clutched his head in exaggerated paranoia, his mind spiraling into a loop of conspiratorial thoughts. Alice shot him a sideways glance, eyebrow raised as she tried to suppress a smirk.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're paranoid?" Alice asked, her tone light but laced with amusement. She kept walking, forcing Davi to snap out of his musings and catch up to her.
"Yeah, a few times," Davi responded, his curiosity piqued. "Why?"
"Because you are," Alice replied with a chuckle, shaking her head at his antics. Despite everything, Davi's oddball nature never failed to lighten the mood.
As they continued along their path. The air seemed to thicken, the tension from their earlier conversation slowly fading as they became engrossed in their surroundings. Unbeknownst to them, their steps took on a subtle rhythm, as if guided by some unseen force.
Before they knew it, the ground beneath their feet gave way. In an instant, they were plunging downward, the world around them spinning in a blur. They landed with a hard thud, the breath knocked out of them as they hit the cold, stone floor of an underground cavern.
Alice groaned, sitting up and rubbing her head, trying to get her bearings. "What just happened?"
IN THE CAVERN
Before Alice and Davi could scramble to their feet, they found themselves face-to-face with two White Fang guards. The pair, clad in their signature masks and uniforms, stood between the intruders and the only visible exit. Their sudden presence was both unexpected and intimidating, especially considering the cavern's hidden location.
"Hey, y'all," Davi greeted, trying to sound as casual as possible, though his voice betrayed a hint of nervousness. He knew very well that their uninvited arrival wasn't going to be received with open arms.
The guards exchanged a quick glance, their hands already moving toward their weapons, clearly prepared to deal with the intruders in the most direct way possible. But before they could make a move, one of Alice's clones, shimmering with the faint blue glow of ice dust, materialized behind them.
With a swift and powerful motion, the clone smashed the guards' heads together, the impact sending a resonant crack through the cavern. Both White Fang members collapsed to the ground, unconscious before they even realized what had hit them.
The clone, maintaining its icy composure, bent down and scooped Alice up off the ground. It then turned to Davi, intending to do the same, but as it reached out to help him, it suddenly dissipated into a shower of icy particles, leaving Davi sprawled awkwardly on the floor.
Alice couldn't help but chuckle at the sight, while Davi let out a frustrated groan as he pushed himself up. "Haha, very funny," Davi muttered sarcastically, brushing dirt off his clothes.
"C'mon, cheer up," Alice teased, still amused by the situation. "They don't last forever, y'know."
Davi shot her a mock glare but couldn't stay mad for long. His attention shifted to the two unconscious guards, and an idea sparked in his mind. He bent down and removed one of their masks, holding it up triumphantly.
"What... Are you doing?" Alice asked, a mix of curiosity and skepticism in her voice.
Davi grinned as he put the mask on, muffling his voice. "I'm thinking this is the best way to finish the mission," he said, his voice distorted through the mask. He handed the other mask to Alice, who raised an eyebrow at him but eventually relented, putting it on.
"You've got to be kidding me," Alice said, her voice tinged with sarcasm as she adjusted the mask.
"Yeah, seriously," Davi replied, nodding confidently. "We blend in, no one suspects a thing. It's perfect!"
There was a brief silence as they both stood there in their makeshift disguises, the situation sinking in. Davi, always one to fill awkward silences, decided to keep the banter going. "So…" he began, trying to sound casual. "You know, knocking them out might not have been the best idea. I mean, I had them charmed, totally under control. They were just about to offer us cookies and maybe something to drink, and then bam they're out cold."
Alice sighed, shaking her head. "Sure, Davi. Cookies and drinks. That's exactly where this was headed."
Before Davi could respond with another quip, the sound of something or rather, someone falling through the hole they had come through made them both freeze. They looked up just in time to see a girl with black hair streaked with red tips, unmistakably Ruby Rose, plummet into the cavern with a startled yelp.
"Oh… no…" Alice muttered in shock, recognizing her immediately. Ruby landed with a thud, disoriented but not injured. Before she could even get her bearings, Davi's instincts took over. He panicked, grabbed the hilt of his weapon, and knocked her out cold with a swift blow to the back of her head.
"What are you doing?!" Alice shouted, her eyes wide with disbelief as she rushed over to Ruby's unconscious form. "Why'd you do that?!"
"I got nervous… and… she surprised me!" Davi stammered, already regretting his hasty action. "Look, it was a reflex, okay? LOOK, She just fell out of the sky!"
" Check her pulse, you reflex psycho ", Alice said. " I don't know how tocheck a pulse. ", Davi said " Who do I look like... a doctor.. ", Davi finished very calmly making a disappointed look appear on Alice's face. " Well if you know how to check a pulse do it yourself ", Davi replied. " Well I dont want my fingerprints on your crime.
Alice checked Ruby's pulse anyway, making sure she was still breathing, though her frustration was evident. "What if she's dead, Davi?" she asked, her voice tight with concern and anger.
Davi, always quick with a retort, shrugged nonchalantly. "I'll tell the judge it was unintentional," he said, as if that would somehow make the situation less dire.
Alice shot him a death glare, trying to process the absurdity of the situation. "We were supposed to give her cookies and something to drink," she remarked sarcastically, echoing his earlier comment.
Davi sighed, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Yeah, well… guess that ship's sailed. But hey, at least she didn't scream or anything. That could've been way worse."
ON A BALCONY
Ironwood stood alone on the balcony, gazing out at the city of Vale sprawled beneath him. The city lights twinkled like stars, but there was something hollow in their glow, something that gnawed at the General's insides. The night was still, almost too still, and the weight of his thoughts made it impossible to find any peace. His brow furrowed, and his metal hand tightened around the railing, a faint creaking noise barely audible as the metal strained against his grip.
The sound of footsteps behind him was soft but unmistakable. Glynda approached, her presence always calm, always composed. She stopped beside him, taking in the view of the city. "Having trouble sleeping?" she asked gently, her voice breaking the silence.
Ironwood sighed, his shoulders sagging slightly. "Yeah. The arm's acting up again," he replied, though both of them knew that wasn't the real reason for his unrest.
Glynda reached out, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "You've always been one to keep late nights," she remarked, her tone warm with the familiarity of an old friend.
Ironwood gave a small, humorless chuckle. "You know me too well," he said, the tension in his voice betraying his attempt at lightening the mood. He paused, as if weighing his words carefully, before continuing. "I'm sorry for my reaction today, Glynda."
She didn't flinch, her expression remaining steady. "I don't need a sorry, James. I've known you long enough to expect that kind of response," she replied calmly. There was no bitterness in her voice, just an understanding that only years of close companionship could bring. "That is not why you left is it ? "
Ironwood's gaze remained fixed on the city, his expression hardening. "Quite a view, isn't it?" Glynda said, trying to steer the conversation to something less heavy, even if just for a moment.
"Yeah… too bad Ozpin's doing nothing to keep it," Ironwood retorted, his voice laced with frustration. Glynda's eyes widened in shock at the harshness of his words, but she quickly regained her composure, though her silence spoke volumes.
"We've known him for a long time, Glynda, but lately… it feels like he's doing too little. It's almost as if I don't know him anymore, or worse, as if he's keeping something from us," Ironwood continued, his voice growing more agitated. He gripped the balcony railing so tightly that it creaked under the pressure, the metal in his arm straining visibly.
Glynda's eyes drifted to his hand, the way his fingers dug into the metal. "Your arm's really acting up," she noted softly, a hint of concern in her voice. But she knew it wasn't just the mechanical limb causing his tension.
"There's no staying away from this, Glynda," Ironwood said, his voice firm but tinged with a desperation she rarely heard from him. "The situation is spiraling out of control, and we can't just sit back and trust that everything will be fine."
Glynda looked at him, her eyes searching for a way to reach through the wall of doubt and frustration that had built up around him. "You've got to have more faith in him, James. Ozpin's always had a plan, even when we couldn't see it. We've trusted him before, and he hasn't let us down."
Ironwood turned to face her fully, his expression a mixture of anger, fear, and something she hadn't seen in him for a long time. "Remnant can't hang on the thin thread of trust in one man. Can it? I've seen what happens when we rely on blind faith. I'm not willing to take that risk anymore. Not with so much at stake."
Glynda's eyes softened, a mix of empathy and disappointment swirling within them. "You've always been a man of action, James, but sometimes it about more trust. I can't blame you though. It's just your semblance ".
Ironwood clenched his jaw, his mind a battlefield of conflicting thoughts. He wanted to believe in what Glynda was saying, wanted to hold onto the trust he'd placed in Ozpin for so many years. But the creeping doubt was too strong, the fear of what might come if they weren't prepared gnawing at him.
" Have trust in him ", Glynda said. " You've got to have more faith in him. General ", Glynda said seemingly disappointed that he didn't trust his old friend before walking away with Ironwood looking at her with a mix of unsettling emotions.
Ironwood watched her go, the echo of her words lingering in the air long after she had disappeared into the shadows of the hallway. He turned back to the city, the lights below seeming dimmer now, more distant. His thoughts churned, unsettled by the growing sense of impending doom.
As he stood there alone, a chill wind swept across the balcony, ruffling his coat. Ironwood couldn't shake the feeling that they were on the brink of something monumental, something that could change everything.
IN THE CAVERN
Davi and Alice found themselves in an increasingly awkward situation, staring down at the unconscious body of Ruby Rose, who was sprawled unceremoniously on the cavern floor. The dim light from the cavern's torches flickered across their faces, revealing Davi's expression of mild exasperation and Alice's growing irritation.
"Argh… I really don't know why you're so annoying," Davi groaned, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
Alice shot him a glare. "Annoying? Oh, I'm annoying? I'm not the one who knocked out a Huntress with a weapon that could create a deep cut through the fabric of space-time. Which she is not with for some reason. We're supposed to be stealthy, Davi, not play whack-a-huntress!"
Davi shrugged, unfazed. "Think about it like this: we've got a golden opportunity here. We're in the White Fang's secret cavern, and we can take down their whole operation from the inside. Plus, we've got a perfectly good distraction in the form of this unconscious body… which you're still holding, by the way."
Inside the cavern, they could see White Fang members loading bombs into wagons connected to cars, the entire place bustling with activity. The atmosphere was tense, a stark contrast to Davi's casual demeanor.
"Here's the plan," Davi began, trying to sound serious. "We'll take..."
"I hate that I have to carry this body," Alice interrupted, shifting Ruby's weight slightly as she adjusted her grip.
"What's so wrong with you carrying the body?" Davi asked, trying to hide a smirk.
"Oh, I don't know… maybe the fact that I didn't knock her unconscious in the first place!" Alice snapped back. "This feels like something out of a crime drama, disposing of a body after committing murder. Not exactly what I signed up for."
Davi raised an eyebrow, feigning confusion. "I'm sorry, you said what now…?"
Alice sighed, exasperated. "Just continue with the plan, Davi."
"Right, the plan," Davi echoed, as if he hadn't just completely forgotten about it. "We take this to the boss man. We'll blend in, get close, and figure out what he's up to."
Davi spotted a White Fang member nearby and decided to put the plan into action. He grabbed the unsuspecting Faunus by the shoulder and pulled him close. "Who's the boss around here?" Davi asked, his voice dripping with mock seriousness.
"It's… it's Roman… Roman Torchwick," the White Fang member stammered, visibly terrified, before scampering off as fast as he could.
Davi watched him go, a bemused expression on his face. "I wonder what that guy's so scared of," he said, his tone almost dismissive.
Alice, struggling under the weight of Ruby, glared at him. "Let's just get this over with," she grumbled, her patience wearing thin. But before she could turn around, she realized Davi was no longer beside her.
She looked around frantically, only to spot him bolting down a side tunnel. "I really hate him," Alice muttered under her breath, half tempted to just drop Ruby and leave Davi to fend for himself.
Eventually, after some struggle, Alice managed to drag Ruby's now fully conscious body to where Roman Torchwick was overseeing the operation. Roman, ever the showman, was initially enraged to see Ruby, but quickly composed himself, a sly grin spreading across his face.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Little Red herself," Roman drawled, lowering his Melodic Cudgel and stepping closer to Ruby. "You're so much more likeable without that overgrown scythe of yours, you know that?"
Ruby, still a bit dazed, blinked up at him in confusion.
"Seriously, I haven't seen a weapon that big in all my years," Roman continued, shaking his head in mock disbelief. " Really even Krotas will have a hard time weildin' that stuff". "Great job, Perry," he said, turning to Alice, who was still disguised as a White Fang member.
Alice, caught off guard, awkwardly gave him a thumbs up, which seemed to amuse Roman to no end. He chuckled, a wide grin on his face. "And for the rest of you!" he barked at the other White Fang members. "This is exemplary work!".
He turned back to Ruby, pointing the Melodic Cudgel at her head, his expression darkening. "Back to you, Little Red. How on earth do you carry that thing? No, really, I'm curious what kind of workout regime does one follow to lug around a weapon that big?"
Ruby, still groggy, opened her mouth to respond, but Roman cut her off. "Nah, I'm just kidding. No one really cares how you carry it". Roman then pointed the Melodic Cudgel straight to the girl's head before speaking again. "The real question is how did you find this place?" His tone had shifted from mocking to menacing, his eyes narrowing.
Before Ruby could muster a response, the rest of Team RWBY and Professor Oobleck burst through the wall Alice had been leaning against, the force of the impact knocking her out.
Yang wasted no time, launching herself at Roman and firing a shot from her Ember Celica, the blast hitting him square in the torso and shattering his Aura.
"You okay, Rubes?" Yang asked, offering Ruby her hand as Weiss handed her back Crescent Rose.
"Yeah, just a little bang on the head," Ruby replied, her voice still a little shaky before Ruby handed her Cresent Rose.
As Team RWBY and Oobleck retreated, leaving the scene in chaos, Roman clutched his side, his face contorted with pain and fury. He turned to the same White Fang member Davi had interrogated earlier, who was cowering nearby.
"You," Roman hissed, his voice dripping with venom.
"Me?" the Faunus squeaked, visibly trembling.
" Yes, you MORON. We're leaving. NOW," Roman commanded, his tone brooking no argument.
"But... The bombs..." the White Fang member started to protest, only to be silenced by a withering glare from Roman.
"No buts. Just send the word out," Roman ordered, his patience clearly at its limit.
As the White Fang member scurried off to carry out the command, Roman muttered under his breath, "Such animals."
But when he glanced back and saw the now unconscious Alice still disguised as Perry. Roman's expression softened into one of twisted affection. "You will be avenged, Perry ". But he couldn't help but notice his body looked more feminine than usual.
IN A CAFE
Davi burst through the doors of the cafe, panting heavily as he finally escaped the chaos he'd left behind. He collapsed into a chair near the entrance, leaning back with a sigh of relief.
"Oh! It surely ain't easy to run," Davi wheezed, rubbing his aching calves. "Feels like I've run a thousand miles."
"Sounds like someone's not built for cardio," a voice piped up next to him. Davi glanced over, noticing a male figure with bright green hair that stood out even under the shadow of his Grimm mask. The man was casually sipping on a cup of coffee.
"Not a runner, are you?" the man asked, not waiting for an answer. "If you'd like some advice, don't run from your problems. They have a habit of catching up."
" No... I'm not ", Davi said gasping profusely. " Are you ?", He asked again. " I know a good runner though ". " What if I told you. IT IS ME ", The person said menacingly. " What...?", Davi asked getting Imperial ready for a duel. " Whoa...Whow...", The person said fearfully. " There no need for such brute force. It's just me your favourite green haired pal. Eden ", Eden said revealing himself.
Davi, still catching his breath, blinked at the stranger, squinting at him. "Wait a minute... Eden?!"
Eden leaned back with a smug grin, peeling off the Grimm mask to reveal his familiar face. "Who else, genius? You didn't recognize your favorite green-haired pal?"
Davi narrowed his eyes, unamused. "You know, I was this close to taking you out with Imperial. Maybe warn a guy next time?"
Eden chuckled, but the amusement quickly faded as he looked around. "Where's Alice? You didn't ditch her, did you?"
Davi rubbed the back of his neck, feeling a bit sheepish. "Okay, so, funny story..."
"Funny?" Eden's expression turned from curiosity to concern. "What happened?"
Davi waved a hand dismissively. "Nothing major, just, uh, maybe a little mix-up with some White Fang goons, a few unconscious bodies, and, uh, Alice. But she's fine! She can handle herself. Probably better than I could."
Eden stared at him, unimpressed. "You just ditched her with the White Fang, didn't you?"
Davi smiled awkwardly. "Well, yeah, but in my defense, I needed a break. And she's more than capable. Besides, whatever a boy can do, a girl can do better, right?"
Eden raised an eyebrow, not buying it for a second. "Nobody says that, Davi."
"Sure they do! Somewhere. Probably. Anyway, enough about Alice, she's got this. So, tell me about the trains. You said something about robot parts?"
Eden sighed, clearly worried but decided to humor Davi. "Yeah, the trains are loaded with robot parts, weapons, and—"
"Great! Just another White Fang warehouse, then," Davi interrupted, trying to steer the conversation away from his recent blunder.
Eden gave him a flat look, knowing where this was going. "...and bombs, Davi. The trains are loaded with bombs."
Davi's eyes widened. "Wait, bombs? As in, explodey things? As in, things that go boom?"
"Exactly," Eden said, leaning back casually. "It's kinda like a taco filling, but instead of deliciousness, it's destruction. The White Fang's planning to flood Vale with Grimm. Quite a daunting task, but it's possible."
Davi nearly choked on his own spit. "You're kidding, right? This is one of your jokes, right?"
Eden looked him dead in the eye. "Do I look like I'm kidding? I helped load 'em up myself."
Davi's jaw dropped. "So you're saying...you helped load bombs...to destroy Vale?"
Eden shrugged nonchalantly. "Yeah, something like that."
"WHY?!" Davi nearly shouted, drawing the attention of the other patrons.
Eden gave him a sideways glance. "Relax, I wasn't planning on letting it happen. Just needed to see what they were up to. You know, undercover work.". " Plus there's no better way to learn how something can be stopped than raw experience ", Eden said.
"Sure, undercover work. That doesn't sound suspicious at all," Davi muttered, rubbing his temples.
Suddenly, the ground began to rumble slightly, and both of them looked out the window. The cargo trains began to move, slowly at first, but gradually picking up speed.
"Are they supposed to move so soon?" Davi asked, his voice tinged with panic.
Eden stood up, stretching his arms. "Looks like we've got an early departure, boys. Time to split up, disarm the bombs, and try not to, you know, die."
Davi got up, looking more alarmed than ever. "And you're just saying this so casually?!"
Eden grinned. "What can I say? Keeps life interesting."
As they headed for the door, Davi paused. "Just to be clear, when you say 'try not to die,' you mean that in a 'we totally got this' kind of way, right?"
Eden chuckled, patting Davi on the back as they walked out. "Sure, buddy. Whatever helps you sleep at night."
Davi groaned. "You know, sometimes I wonder why I hang out with you."
"Because I'm your favorite green-haired pal," Eden said with a wink before sprinting off toward the moving trains.
"Yeah, right. This is definitely going to be one hell of a story for Alice," Davi muttered to himself, chasing after him.
IN THE CAVERN
The cavern was dimly lit, casting ominous shadows along the jagged walls as Davi cautiously navigated through the labyrinthine tunnels. The atmosphere was tense, thick with the anticipation of danger. His thoughts drifted back to Eden, who had gone off on his own, leaving Davi with the ominous task of covering more ground alone.
FLASHBACK
Davi and Eden stood huddled together in a darkened corner of the cavern, crouched over a makeshift table covered in diagrams, tools, and disarmed explosives. Eden was speaking rapidly, pointing out key details on a bomb's casing, while Davi stared at him with a vacant expression, clearly overwhelmed.
"Alright, so you cut the red wire first, then the blue one, no wait, it's the green one, after you've rotated the casing 90 degrees counterclockwise," Eden explained, his voice a mix of focus and urgency.
Davi nodded absently, trying to follow the barrage of instructions. "Uh-huh, yeah… got it. Totally… absolutely."
Eden paused, looking at Davi skeptically. "Davi, you didn't hear a single word I just said, did you?"
Davi blinked, a sheepish grin spreading across his face. "Not a single word, man."
Eden sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You've got to be kidding me. This is important, Davi! We're talking about disarming bombs, not playing a round of guess which wire blows us all to bits.'"
Davi chuckled nervously. "Come on, Eden, help a brother out! You know I'm not exactly the 'bomb disarming' type."
Eden gave him a flat look. "Yeah, I've noticed. But we don't have time for a crash course in bomb disposal 101. You're just going to have to wing it."
Davi groaned, slumping his shoulders. "Great. I'll just try not to get us all blown up, then."
Eden clapped him on the back with a grin. "Don't worry, Davi. You've got this. You're a very smart person… sometimes."
Davi rolled his eyes, grumbling under his breath. "If I'm so smart, why are you leaving me alone with the bombs?"
"To cover more ground, brother," Eden replied in the same tone Davi had used, before dashing off into the darkness.
Davi watched him go, muttering to himself, "I really get Alice now…"
END OF FLASHBACK
The memory faded as Davi refocused on the present. The sound of clattering metal and hurried footsteps echoed off the walls, mingling with the muffled voices of White Fang members preparing for their final assault. Davi's heart pounded in his chest as he moved forward, gripping his sword, Imperial, tightly. One wrong move could spell disaster, not just for him, but for his entire team. And the thought of facing an enraged Ironwood again was enough to make him break out in a cold sweat.
As he rounded a corner, Davi stumbled upon a scene that made his blood run cold. There, lying unconscious on the cold stone floor, was Yang Xiao Long, her blonde hair fanned out around her like a halo. The person he had once danced with, now at the mercy of her attacker. Standing over her, with a twisted smile on her face, was Neopolitan, ready to unalive her.
Davi's mind raced. He had to do something, anything, to stop Neo from hurting Yang. But before he could react, another presence made itself known. A tall figure clad in black and red stepped out of a swirling red portal. Her eyes, hidden behind a menacing Grimm mask, scanned the scene before locking onto Davi. He didn't know who she was, but her intimidating presence sent a shiver down his spine. This was no ordinary combatant.
For a moment, the three of them stood in tense silence, each sizing up the others. Davi could feel the tension in the air, like the calm before a storm. Then, without warning, Neo lunged at him, her parasol Hush striking out with deadly precision. Davi barely had time to raise Imperial in defense, the force of the impact sending him stumbling back. He quickly regained his footing, but Neo was relentless, her strikes coming faster and faster, each one more difficult to parry than the last.
Neo moved like a shadow, her petite frame allowing her to slip in and out of Davi's defenses with ease. She grinned wickedly, enjoying the challenge of facing someone new. Davi, on the other hand, was struggling to keep up. Neo's movements were almost too fast to follow, and every time he thought he had her, she would disappear, only to reappear on his other side with a fresh attack.
Just as Davi thought he was about to be overwhelmed, Raven intervened. With a swift, fluid motion, she drew her katana, Omen, its distinctive red blade gleaming in the dim light. She deflected Neo's attack with ease, forcing the smaller girl to retreat a few steps. Davi blinked in surprise; he hadn't expected anyone to help him, let alone this mysterious warrior. But there was no time to dwell on it. Raven's intervention had only escalated the situation.
Now, the three were locked in a chaotic three-way battle, each trying to outmaneuver the others. Neo, with her speed and agility, was a difficult target, darting around with a grace that made it hard to land a hit. She twirled her parasol with deadly precision, using it as both a shield and a weapon, blocking attacks and launching counters with lightning speed. Davi found himself constantly on the defensive, barely managing to block Neo's strikes while trying to keep an eye on Raven.
Raven, on the other hand, was a master swordswoman, her strikes precise and powerful. Every movement she made was calculated, designed to keep both Neo and Davi off balance. She wielded *Omen* with expert skill, her blade flashing through the air as she deflected attacks and countered with deadly force. Davi could feel the weight of her experience in every blow, and he quickly realized that he was out of his depth.
But he couldn't afford to back down now. Davi gritted his teeth and pressed on, looking for any opening he could exploit. He focused on Neo first, trying to anticipate her movements and catch her off guard. Neo, however, was too quick, and every time Davi thought he had her, she would slip away, leaving him open to Raven's attacks.
As the battle raged on, Davi could feel his stamina waning. Neo's relentless assault was wearing him down, and Raven's sudden, powerful strikes were pushing him to his limits. His muscles burned with exhaustion, and his breath came in ragged gasps. But he couldn't stop, not when so much was at stake.
Just when Davi thought he couldn't hold out any longer, he managed to land a glancing blow on Neo, the edge of Imperial slicing through her sleeve. Neo hissed in pain, her eyes narrowing in anger. But before she could retaliate, the cavern shook with a loud explosion, sending debris and dust flying through the air. The shockwave knocked all three combatants off balance, momentarily halting their fight.
In the chaos, Raven seized the opportunity to make her move. With a swift, precise strike, she disarmed Neo, sending the parasol clattering to the ground. Neo glared at Raven, her fists clenched in anger, but she knew better than to challenge the older woman without her weapon.
Before Davi could capitalize on the situation, Raven turned her attention to him. Their blades clashed in a flurry of strikes, each trying to overpower the other. Davi could feel the intensity of Raven's attacks, each blow carrying the weight of years of combat experience. He was barely holding on, his arms trembling with the effort of blocking her strikes.
In a desperate attempt to gain the upper hand, Davi used his footwork to shift to Raven's side, kicking her torso and grazing her. The impact caused Raven to stagger, giving Davi a brief moment of respite. But she quickly recovered, her eyes narrowing in determination. She wasn't going to let him get away with that so easily.
They clashed again, their swords ringing out with each strike. Davi could feel the pressure mounting, the weight of Raven's skill and experience pressing down on him. He knew he couldn't keep this up much longer; he needed to find a way to end this.
Finally, with a desperate surge of energy, Davi managed to break Raven's guard, landing a solid hit on her side. Raven staggered back, clutching her wound, but her eyes never left Davi's. She was wounded, but far from defeated. Her gaze was cold, calculating, as if she was already planning her next move.
Before the fight could continue, however, Neo suddenly recovered and launched a surprise attack on Raven. The two women clashed, their blades sparking as they exchanged blows. Davi, realizing that this was his chance, quickly moved in between the two. He kicked Neo in the face, sending her reeling back, and then clashed Imperial with Raven's Omen, using the momentum to trip her with a swift kick to the legs.
As the fight reached its climax, the cavern shook again, this time more violently. The ceiling cracked, and large chunks of rock began to fall,
sending debris and dust swirling through the air. The unstable environment only added to the chaos of the battle. Davi could feel the ground beneath his feet shifting, and the rumbling echoed like the growl of some giant beast waking from its slumber.
With one last, desperate look at his opponents, Davi knew he had to make a split-second decision. The cavern was coming down, and staying here would mean certain death not just for him, but possibly for Yang as well. He had to neutralize the threats before him quickly.
Neo, recovering from the last hit, narrowed her eyes at Davi. She was clearly infuriated, but that only made her more dangerous. She darted forward again, this time with a ferocity that surprised Davi. She aimed a swift strike at his midsection, but Davi managed to sidestep just in time, bringing Imperial down in a sweeping arc. Neo, anticipating the move, flipped backward, narrowly avoiding the blade, but Davi used the momentum to deliver a powerful kick to her head. The force of the blow sent her crashing into the cavern wall with a sickening thud, rendering her unconscious.
Raven, witnessing Neo's fall, wasted no time in renewing her assault. She lunged at Davi with a speed that made his heart race, her red katana slicing through the air with deadly intent. Davi barely managed to block the attack, their blades clashing with a resounding clang. The force of Raven's strike pushed him back several steps, and he knew that if this continued, he wouldn't last much longer.
The two circled each other warily, the tension between them palpable. Davi could see the determination in Raven's eyes, even behind the mask, and he knew she was sizing him up, looking for any weakness to exploit. He couldn't afford to let her get the upper hand again.
In a bold move, Davi suddenly charged at Raven, feinting a high strike before pivoting and aiming low. Raven reacted with lightning speed, deflecting his blade and countering with a powerful horizontal slash aimed at his torso. Davi twisted his body just in time, the blade grazing his side but not drawing blood. He retaliated by delivering a swift kick to her midsection, forcing her to stumble backward.
For a brief moment, they locked eyes. Davi could see the fire in Raven's gaze, the silent promise that this battle was far from over. But before either of them could make another move, the cavern shook violently once more, a large section of the ceiling collapsing mere feet away from them. The ground beneath them cracked and shifted, throwing both combatants off balance.
As Yang was regaining her consciousness, Raven, ever the opportunist, saw her chance. With a swift motion, she opened another red portal behind her and retreated into it, disappearing just as a massive chunk of rock fell where she had stood moments before. Davi, still off balance, could only watch as she escaped, a mixture of frustration and relief washing over him.
As the dust began to settle, Davi looked over at Neo, who remained unconscious against the wall, and then to Yang, who had begun to stir on the cavern floor. Her groggy movements indicated she was regaining consciousness, and Davi knew it was only a matter of time before she would see him. He couldn't risk being recognized, not now.
Davi quickly sheathed Imperial and took one last glance at Yang before turning and sprinting away. The sound of his footsteps echoed through the cavern as he disappeared into the shadows, leaving Yang to regain her senses alone. As he fled, he couldn't help but feel a nagging sense of unfinished business.
As Yang finally came to, her vision blurred and head pounding, she looked around the cavern in confusion. She saw the unconscious Neo, the fallen rocks, and the faint trace of a red portal's afterimage. The last thing she remembered was Neo's attack then nothing.
She rubbed her head, trying to piece together what had happened. There was a fleeting memory of two figures two of them were masked like a Grimm, She could remember their clothes and hair.
The female one having long black hair and male one having blue hair. She knew a couple Her people with blue hair but she thought. " It couldn't them ". Confusion deepened as she realized that whoever they were, they had saved her, but why? And where were they now?
Yang pushed herself to her feet, shaky but determined. She knew she had to find her team, to figure out what had happened here, but the mystery of the masked figures would linger in her mind. Whoever they were, they had left her with more questions than answers.
The cavern's eerie silence was unsettling as Yang made her way out, still processing the events that had transpired. Meanwhile, deeper within the shadows, Davi continued his escape, knowing that he had just barely survived an encounter with what he thought was two of Remnant's most dangerous individuals. And as he disappeared into the darkness, a single thought gnawed at the back of his mind, " This isn't the end".
ELSEWHERE IN THE CAVERN
Eden darted through the cavern, his boots, Blazing Whip glowing with energy as he moved with lightning speed. He was a blur of motion, expertly navigating the narrow, winding tunnels while easily outmaneuvering any White Fang members that crossed his path. With each step, sparks flew from his boots, illuminating the dark, echoing space around him.
As he rounded a corner, Eden caught sight of Weiss Schnee, the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, battling a White Fang Lieutenant. The Lieutenant was armed with a menacing, saw-like weapon that buzzed ominously as he swung it with force, attempting to land a decisive blow on Weiss.
Eden couldn't resist chiming in with a grin. "That's quite the unique weapon you've got there," he quipped, his tone light despite the intensity of the situation.
The Lieutenant sneered in response, his grip tightening on the saw's handle. "And you think you're so special with those fancy boots? You're just another imposter pretending to be a hero," he shot back, his voice laced with disdain.
"Never underestimate the power of good footwear," Eden replied with a chuckle. "But if you need a demonstration, I'd be happy to oblige."
Without warning, Eden pivoted and delivered a swift, controlled kick to Weiss's side. The force of the impact sent her flying out of the Lieutenant's reach, allowing Eden to step in and face the threat head-on. He could see Weiss out of the corner of his eye, quickly recovering and giving him a brief nod of thanks as she moved to a safer position.
The Lieutenant, enraged by Eden's interference, revved his weapon once more, the sound filling the cavern with a mechanical growl. "You're going to regret that, kid," he snarled, swinging the saw in a wide arc, aiming to overwhelm Eden with sheer force.
But Eden was already moving, his boots propelling him forward at incredible speed. He closed the distance between them in a flash, his movements fluid and precise. The Lieutenant barely had time to react before Eden delivered a series of rapid kicks, each one landing with pinpoint accuracy.
Eden's first kick struck the Lieutenant's shoulder, throwing him off balance. The second connected with his midsection, forcing him to stumble back. Before the Lieutenant could recover, Eden followed up with a spinning kick that sent him crashing into a stack of crates, the impact reverberating through the cavern.
Breathing heavily, the Lieutenant struggled to his feet, his weapon now a bit unsteady in his hands. "You think this is over?" he growled, his voice shaking slightly. "I'm not done yet."
Eden shook his head, his expression calm yet determined. "You're outmatched. Just stand down."
The Lieutenant, fueled by anger and pride, ignored the warning. He swung his saw again, but Eden was faster, sidestepping the attack with ease. As the Lieutenant overextended, Eden saw his opening. He quickly moved in and delivered a powerful kick to the side of the weapon, sending it clattering to the ground.
With the Lieutenant disarmed, Eden acted quickly. He grabbed a nearby length of chain and, in one fluid motion, wrapped it around the Lieutenant, securing his arms to his sides and pinning him against a sturdy support beam. The Lieutenant struggled against his bonds, but Eden had tied the chains tight, ensuring there was no escape.
Taking a step back, Eden took a moment to catch his breath, surveying the scene. The Lieutenant, now restrained and unable to fight back, glared at Eden but said nothing. His defiance had been quelled, at least for now.
But Eden knew this was only a small victory. The real challenge lay ahead, deeper within the cavern. With a final glance at the defeated Lieutenant, Eden turned and dashed deeper into the tunnel, his boots once again blazing as he prepared for the next phase of the mission.
IN THE CAVERN
The air was thick with tension as Blake Belladonna found herself face to face with Roman Torchwick. His smirk was as infuriating as ever, but before he could taunt her further, a blur of movement caught Blake's eye. In an instant, Nero appeared behind Roman, his fist blazing with the energy from his Burning Inferno gloves. With a swift, brutal punch to the back of Roman's head, Nero knocked him out cold. Roman crumpled to the ground, unconscious before he even realized what had hit him.
Blake's eyes widened in surprise, but her surprise quickly turned to wariness as Nero stepped forward, standing over Roman's unconscious body. The tension in the air thickened, and Blake realized that Nero wasn't here to help her, he was ready to fight. He didn't know who she was or which side she was on, and to him, she was just another enemy.
Without a word, Nero lunged at Blake, his fists glowing fiery red. Blake barely had time to draw her weapon, Gambol Shroud, before Nero was upon her. She deflected his first strike with the flat of her blade, but the force behind his punch sent her skidding back a few feet.
"I'm not scared of you," Blake declared, her voice steady as she shifted Gambol Shroud into its katana mode, the blade gleaming in the dim light of the cavern.
"I don't need you to be," Nero retorted, his tone just as firm. His eyes narrowed with determination as he charged forward again, his fists leaving trails of flame in their wake.
The two fighters clashed, their movements a blur of speed and precision. Blake's agility was her greatest asset; she moved like a shadow, dodging Nero's powerful blows with fluid grace. Her katana whirled through the air, slicing through the space where Nero's head had been only moments before. But Nero was no slouch his punches were fast, and each one packed a devastating punch. The metal surface of the train's roof beneath them sizzled and smoked where his fists connected, leaving scorch marks in their wake.
Nero swung a heavy punch at Blake's midsection, but she spun out of the way, using the momentum to bring her blade around in a swift arc toward his side. Nero blocked the strike with his forearm, the heat from his gloves scorching the edge of her blade. The impact reverberated through Blake's arms, but she gritted her teeth and pushed back, driving Nero off balance.
But Nero was relentless. He recovered quickly, his fists a blur as he unleashed a flurry of punches aimed at Blake's head and torso. Blake ducked and weaved, her instincts guiding her as she narrowly avoided each strike. But Nero was closing the distance between them, his attacks becoming faster and more aggressive. He was pushing her to the edge of the train, and Blake knew she had to act fast.
With a quick flick of her wrist, Blake shifted Gambol Shroud into its cleaver mode and fired the pistol. The blast wasn't meant to hit Nero; it was a distraction, a way to buy herself a split second to gain the upper hand. As Nero instinctively dodged the shot, Blake darted in close, bringing the blunt side of her weapon down on his wrist. Nero grunted in pain, but he didn't let up. Instead, he grabbed hold of Gambol Shroud with his free hand, trying to wrench it out of Blake's grasp.
They struggled for control, their faces inches apart, both of them breathing heavily. Blake's amber eyes locked onto Nero's, and for a brief moment, she saw something in his gaze hesitation. The moment passed as quickly as it had come, and Nero's grip tightened.
Blake took advantage of his brief hesitation. She shifted her weight and swept her leg out, catching Nero behind the knee and knocking him off balance. As he stumbled, Blake wrenched her weapon free and delivered a powerful kick to his chest, sending him sprawling backward.
But Nero wasn't done yet. He hit the ground hard, but he quickly rolled back to his feet, his fists crackling with renewed energy. He charged at Blake again, but this time she was ready. With a swift, fluid motion, she shifted Gambol Shroud back into its katana mode and parried his punch, using his momentum to throw him off balance.
Blake spun around, her blade flashing as she delivered a series of precise strikes. Nero blocked each one, but Blake could see the strain in his movements. She was faster, more agile, and she was wearing him down.
Just as Blake managed to land a solid hit on Nero's side, sending him stumbling back, the entire train lurched violently. The screech of metal on metal filled the air as the train screeched to a halt, nearly throwing both fighters off their feet.
Blake's eyes widened as she heard a loud crash coming from one of the train cars. The walls of the train had been breached, and in the distance, she could hear the guttural roars of Grimm as they began pouring into the city of Vale. Her heart sank this was worse than she had anticipated. They had to stop this, but first, she needed to deal with the threat in front of her.
Blake's instincts screamed at her to escape, but she hesitated for just a moment, glancing back at Nero. She could see the conflict in his eyes, the way his fists trembled as he watched the Grimm flood into the city. But she couldn't afford to wait. With one final, determined look at Nero, Blake made her decision. She turned and leaped off the train, disappearing into the shadows as she made her escape.
Nero watched her go, his fists still crackling with energy, his mind racing. The situation had spiraled out of control faster than he could have imagined. This wasn't just a mission anymore—it was a full-scale invasion. And now, with Blake gone, he was left alone to face the chaos that was unfolding around him.
As Nero turned to assess the situation, he heard a groan from behind him. Roman Torchwick, who had just regained consciousness, was struggling to his feet. But before Roman could fully comprehend what was happening, Nero's fist connected with his jaw once again, the force of the punch amplified by the energy from his gloves Burning Inferno. Roman crumpled to the ground, unconscious in one hit but burns were left on his skin.
Nero stood over the defeated criminal, breathing heavily, his gaze sweeping over the scene of destruction and chaos. The train had come to a stop, but the damage was done. Grimm were pouring into the city, and the battle for Vale was just beginning.
He knew they had little time left. The invasion had begun, and the stakes had never been higher. As Nero clenched his fists, the heat from his gloves dissipating, he knew that the real fight was still ahead of them. And this time, there would be no holding back.
DAVI'S FIGHT
As the night fell over Vale, the city was in turmoil. The Grimm had overrun the defenses, and the Huntsmen and Huntresses were fighting desperately to protect the citizens. Explosions and gunfire echoed through the streets, and the sky was filled with the terrifying roars of the Grimm.
The full moon cast a pale light over the dense forest in southeastern Vale, its silver rays piercing through the thick canopy. The night was quiet, almost serene, but the four Huntsmen-in-training knew better. In the shadows, lurking just beyond the trees, the Grimm were gathering.
Davi's expressions steely and determined. He could sense the approaching threat, the dark energy of the Grimm tainting the air. It was a familiar feeling, one they had faced many times before, but the weight of the battle ahead still hung heavily over them.
Davi stood atop a small ridge, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, Imperial. The blade glowed faintly, the energy within it thrumming in sync with his own aura. The sound of rustling leaves reached his ears, and he knew the Grimm were near. A pack of Beowolves emerged from the darkness, their glowing red eyes fixated on him.
With a swift motion, Davi drew his sword, the blade igniting with blue energy. The Beowolves snarled, baring their fangs as they charged. Davi's eyes narrowed, and he met their charge head-on. He slashed through the first Beowolf, the energy from his sword disintegrating the creature on contact. The others hesitated, momentarily startled by the sudden loss of their comrade.
Davi took advantage of their hesitation, swinging Imperial in a wide arc. A wave of blue energy rippled through the air, cutting down several Beowolves at once. The creatures howled in pain before dissolving into dark mist. But more came, drawn by the scent of battle. Davi's movements were fluid, each strike precise and deadly. He weaved between the Grimm, his sword flashing in the moonlight as he cut them down one by one.
Despite their numbers, the Beowolves couldn't land a single hit on Davi. His speed and skill were unmatched, and Imperial's energy-enhanced blade tore through the Grimm with ease. He finished off the last of the pack with a powerful downward slash, the blue light from his sword illuminating the area as the final Beowolf disintegrated.
Breathing heavily, Davi sheathed his sword. The ridge was silent now, the remains of the Grimm fading into the night. But he knew the battle was far from over. He could hear the distant roars of more Grimm, and he knew his friends were still fighting.
ALICE'S FIGHT
Alice, who has now regained consciousness moved with the grace and speed of a seasoned warrior. Her weapons, Accel a pair of katana and a pistol were a blur in the moonlight as she fought off two King Taijitsu. The creatures slithered towards her, their dark forms blending with the shadows.
Alice fired a round from her pistol, the bullets enhanced with dust, and they exploded on impact, sending the Taijitsu recoiling. Without missing a beat, she twirled her katanas, slicing through the Grimm that got too close. Her movements were precise, each strike calculated to maximize damage.
One taijitsu lunged at her, its jaws snapping dangerously close to her arm. Alice sidestepped effortlessly, bringing her katana down on its head. The blade cut through the creature with ease, and it dissolved into a cloud of black mist. She flipped backward, avoiding another attack, and fired several more rounds from her pistol, each shot hitting its mark.
The taijitsu continued to swarm, but Alice remained calm and focused. She danced around them, her katanas flashing as she cut them down. The stream's water splashed around her feet as she moved, adding to the chaotic scene. Despite the overwhelming size, Alice fought with a smile on her face, enjoying the thrill of the battle.
As the last Taijitsu fell, Alice paused to catch her breath. The stream was now littered with the remnants of the Grimm, their dark forms slowly fading away. She holstered her pistol and sheathed her katanas, glancing around to ensure the area was clear.
She could hear the distant sounds of battle and knew the others were still fighting. Without wasting another moment, she sprinted towards the source of the noise, eager to regroup with her team.
BACK AT THE CAVERNS
Inside the caverns where Roman was laying unconsciously. He then walked out of the caverns strenuously before falling unconscious again.
EDEN'S FIGHT
Eden stood at the base of a towering cliff, his eyes fixed on the approaching horde of Ursa. The massive, bear-like Grimm lumbered towards him, their glowing eyes filled with malice. But Eden wasn't intimidated. He activated his boots, Blazing Whip, feeling the energy surge through his legs. With each hit, the boots increased his speed, and he was ready to use that to his advantage.
As the first Ursa charged, Eden launched himself forward, his boots leaving a trail of fire in their wake. He delivered a powerful kick to the Ursa's side, sending it crashing into the cliff. The creature roared in pain, " What... You don't like the heat ", Eden said. Eden was already moving, his speed increasing with each strike. He darted between the Ursa, his boots igniting with each kick.
The Ursa swung their massive claws at him, but Eden was too fast. He dodged their attacks with ease, delivering quick, powerful kicks that left the Grimm reeling. His boots blazed with energy, and soon he was nothing more than a blur, tearing through the horde like a whirlwind.
One Ursa managed to catch him off guard, its claws grazing his arm. Eden winced but didn't slow down. He retaliated with a flurry of kicks, each one more powerful than the last. The Ursa couldn't keep up with his speed, and one by one, they fell, their massive bodies crumbling into dust.
As the last Ursa collapsed, Eden skidded to a stop, his boots still smoldering from the intense energy. He wiped the sweat from his brow, glancing around at the destruction he'd caused. The cliffside was now littered with the remains of the Grimm, their dark essence dissipating into the night.
He could hear the sounds of battle nearby, and he knew his friends needed him. Without hesitation, he sprinted towards the noise, his boots still blazing with energy.
NERO'S FIGHT
Nero was deep within the forest, surrounded by a pack of Boarbatusks. The Grimm charged at him, their tusks gleaming wickedly in the moonlight. Nero cracked his knuckles, the fire dust in his gloves, Burning Inferno glowing brightly.
As the first Boarbatusk charged, Nero stood his ground. At the last second, he sidestepped, slamming his fist into the creature's side. The fire dust activated on impact, concentrating the energy directly into the Grimm's core. The Boarbatusk erupted into flames, disintegrating before it could even hit the ground.
The rest of the pack was undeterred. They charged in unison, their tusks aimed directly at Nero. He ducked, dodging their attacks with practiced ease. With each strike, he unleashed bursts of concentrated fire, obliterating the Grimm in fiery explosions.
One Boarbatusk managed to ram into him, pushing him back with its full weight. Nero grunted but quickly regained his footing. He grabbed the creature by its tusks, channeling his energy into his gloves. The Boarbatusk struggled, but Nero's grip was unyielding. With a final surge of power, he sent a wave of fire through the Grimm, turning it to ash in his hands.
As the last of the Boarbatusks fell, Nero dusted off his gloves, the flames flickering and dying down. He could hear the distant roars of Grimm and the sound of clashing weapons. He knew the others were still fighting, and he needed to find them.
The four fighters converged in a large open area, the moonlight casting long shadows on the ground. The air was thick with tension, the distant howls of the Grimm echoing ominously. Davi, Alice, Eden, and Nero stood in the center of the clearing, each of them scanning the surroundings with focused determination.
Davi, always ready to break the silence, looked at Alice with a teasing grin. "So… how have you been?"
Alice shot him a look of pure exasperation. "Oh, I don't know, Davi. Maybe unconscious? Thanks to you!"
Davi chuckled, clearly enjoying himself. "That's what they call karma. You knock out a Huntress, and the universe decides to give you a taste of your own medicine."
Eden crossed his arms, his brow furrowed in frustration. "I can't believe you, Davi. You're always getting us into these situations."
Davi held up his hands defensively. "Hey, that's not exactly how it went down. There were… circumstances."
Before the conversation could continue, Nero, who had been keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings, spoke up with urgency. "I don't know if you guys noticed, but the Grimm are closing in."
They all turned their attention to the shadows beyond the clearing. The Grimm were emerging from the darkness, their eyes glowing with malevolent intent. Beowolves, Ursa, and even a few towering Beringels stalked toward them, their growls filling the night air. The ground seemed to tremble under the weight of their approach.
The team instinctively moved back-to-back, forming a tight defensive circle, their weapons at the ready.
"This is it," Davi said, his voice surprisingly calm despite the overwhelming odds. He twirled his weapon in his hand, the blade humming with energy. "We take them all down, together."
Alice nodded, her twin blades gleaming as she unsheathed them. "Let's make it quick. I'm getting tired of these guys."
Eden activated his boots, the energy in them flaring up with a bright blue light. He cracked his neck and grinned. "Ready when you are."
Nero, with a serious expression, ignited his fists, flames flickering in his palms. "Let's do this."
The Grimm charged as one, a dark, snarling wave of destruction. But the four fighters were ready. They moved as a single, cohesive unit, each of them perfectly in sync with the others.
Davi was the first to engage, launching himself forward with a burst of energy that left a glowing blue trail behind him. His strikes were precise and powerful, each swing of his weapon cleaving through the thick hides of the Grimm. He moved with agility and power, a force to be reckoned with.
Alice was a whirlwind of steel and speed, her katanas slicing through the air with deadly precision. She danced around the Grimm, her movements fluid and graceful, a deadly ballet of blades. Her semblance allowed her to create afterimages, confusing the Grimm as they attacked shadows instead of her real self. She used this to her advantage, striking from unexpected angles, her blades cutting deep into the Grimm's flesh. A Beringel swung its massive fist at her, but she slid under its arm and severed its legs with a single, swift motion. The beast roared in pain before collapsing to the ground, where Alice delivered the finishing blow.
Eden was a blur, his boots propelling him at incredible speed. He darted between the Grimm, his powerful kicks sending shockwaves that rippled through the air, knocking multiple Grimm off their feet. His semblance allowed him to generate kinetic energy with each movement, amplifying the force of his strikes. He leaped into the air and delivered a spinning kick that unleashed a wave of energy, sending a group of Beowolves flying backward, their bodies disintegrating upon impact. Eden landed gracefully, ready to take on the next wave with a smirk on his face.
Nero's approach was more methodical, but no less effective. His fiery punches scorched the Grimm on contact, the flames spreading across their bodies and reducing them to ash. He summoned pillars of fire from the ground, trapping the Grimm in rings of flame before finishing them off with precise, burning strikes. His semblance allowed him to absorb heat from the environment, channeling it into his attacks to increase their potency. As an Ursa charged at him, Nero planted his feet and unleashed a torrent of flames that engulfed the creature, turning it into a towering inferno before it collapsed into a pile of smoldering bones.
The battle raged on, the four fighters working together seamlessly, their attacks complementing each other. The Grimm, though numerous, were no match for their combined strength and skill. Davi's energy constructs shielded them from the more powerful attacks, while Alice's speed and precision ensured that no Grimm got too close. Eden's shockwaves kept the horde at bay, and Nero's flames provided the finishing touch, leaving nothing but scorched earth in their wake.
As the last of the Grimm dissolved into smoke, the clearing fell silent once more. The four of them stood amidst the aftermath, breathing heavily but victorious. The moonlight shone down on them, casting a serene glow over the battlefield.
Davi wiped the sweat from his brow and looked around, surveying the scene. "I'll go find out where these creeps are coming from and close it off," he said, sheathing his weapon with a flourish. Without waiting for a response, he sprinted off toward the source of the Grimm, his form quickly disappearing into the shadows.
It didn't take long for Davi to find the breach in the city's defenses a large, gaping hole in the ground from which the Grimm were emerging. He took a deep breath, focusing his energy, and extended his hands. A strong blue force field formed, covering the entrance and sealing it shut. The Grimm that were still inside slammed against the barrier, but it held firm, preventing any more from entering the city.
Davi grinned, satisfied with his work. "That's a good day on the job," he muttered to himself, turning to leave. He didn't notice Glynda Goodwitch, who had arrived just in time to witness the closing of the breach. She watched him with a mix of confusion and curiosity, her eyes narrowing as she tried to make sense of what she had just seen.
Back in the clearing, Alice sheathed her katanas, a satisfied smile on her face. "Let's get out of here before more show up."
Davi rejoined them, a confident look on his face. "Well, I can assure you more aren't gonna show up. For now."
Nero raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "How do you know that?"
Davi winked, tapping the side of his nose. "Just trust me."
Eden and Nero exchanged a glance, but they couldn't help but nod in agreement. Despite Davi's antics, he always seemed to get the job done. The team turned and left the clearing, the night once again quiet and peaceful, the threat of the Grimm vanquished for now.
As they walked away, Davi couldn't resist one last comment. "So, who's up for a snack? I hear cookies and milk are all the rage with Huntresses these days."
Alice groaned, rolling her eyes, while Nero and Eden chuckled. Despite the danger they had just faced, the camaraderie between them made the experience almost… enjoyable.
THE NEXT DAY
OZPIN'S OFFICE
The headmaster of Beacon Academy, Professor Ozpin, sat quietly in his high-backed chair, his eyes fixed on the sprawling cityscape of Vale beyond his office window. The sun was rising , casting long shadows over the rooftops, and the glow of city lights began to twinkle in the encroaching twilight. Despite the serene view, the atmosphere in the room was anything but peaceful. A live video feed was currently active on a large screen behind him, displaying the unseen faces of the councilmen of Vale and General James Ironwood of Atlas.
"Ozpin! OZPIN!" The sharp voice of the first councilman pierced through the tense silence, snapping the headmaster out of his reverie. Slowly, Ozpin swiveled his chair around to face the feed, his expression calm and inscrutable.
"Yes, Councilman," Ozpin responded, his voice measured and composed, his eyes scanning the silhouettes of the council members who remained shrouded in shadows.
"Given the recent security concerns and the alarming events that have transpired within the city," the first councilman began, his tone carrying the weight of authority and concern, "and considering General Ironwood's expressed grievances..."
The councilman paused, allowing the gravity of his words to settle in the room. Ozpin remained silent, his gaze unwavering as he waited for the inevitable conclusion of their discussion.
"We find ourselves in a position where we can no longer, in good conscience, proceed with the Vytal Festival," the councilman continued, his voice growing sterner. "The people of Vale, and indeed the people of all Remnant, cannot be assured of their safety under the current circumstances. The recent attacks and rising unrest have shaken the public's confidence in our ability to protect them. In light of this, we, the council, have decided that General Ironwood will be appointed as the primary protector of Vale."
The statement hung in the air, its weight pressing down on the room. Ozpin's fingers tightened slightly around the arms of his chair, though his expression remained impassive. He had anticipated this decision, but hearing it spoken aloud brought a new level of finality to the situation.
The first councilman cleared his throat, continuing, "This appointment will be temporary, of course ", The second councilman said. " Furthermore, the capture and containment of one of the most wanted criminals will fall directly under General Ironwood's jurisdiction.", The first councilman said.
The mention of a "most wanted criminal" sent a ripple of unease through the room. Ozpin knew exactly whom they were referring to, and the implications were troubling.
"Be rest assured, Councilmen," Ironwood's voice cut through the tension, filled with a pride that was unmistakable. "The Atlesian military is fully prepared to bring as many forces as necessary to ensure the safety of Vale. We will restore order and protect the citizens, no matter the cost."
"Thank you, General," the first councilman replied, the appreciation in his voice almost palpable. "Your dedication is commendable, and your efforts will not go unnoticed. That said, the council has also decided to reassess your position, Professor Ozpin," he continued, turning his attention back to the headmaster. "In light of recent events, your role as headmaster of Beacon will be reviewed following the conclusion of the Vytal Festival."
There was a brief silence, filled only by the faint hum of the live feed. Ozpin's face remained unreadable, but within, the implications of these words weighed heavily. The council's trust in him was wavering, and Ironwood's growing influence was becoming increasingly apparent.
"Are you finished?" Ozpin asked quietly, his voice laced with an air of finality.
"Yes, that will be all for now," the first councilman replied. The tone was dismissive, signaling the end of the discussion.
Without another word, Ozpin turned his chair back towards the window, his eyes once again focused on the city of Vale. The live feed cut off, leaving the room in silence. The city that lay before him was not just a collection of buildings and streets; it was a symbol of what was at stake, a reminder of the challenges that lay ahead.
As the shadows of night continued to creep across the city, Ozpin's thoughts turned inward. He knew the council's decision would have far-reaching consequences, not just for him, but for everyone involved. There were secrets he had kept, burdens he had borne in silence, all for the sake of a greater good. But now, those very decisions were being called into question.
The road ahead was fraught with uncertainty, and Ozpin was keenly aware that the events set into motion would soon come to a head. The balance of power was shifting, and with it, the future of Vale and perhaps all of Remnant hung in the balance.
BEACON ACADEMY - TEAM RWBY'S DORM
The morning sun filtered through the window of Team RWBY's dorm, casting a warm glow over the room as the girls prepared for another day of classes. Yang was tying her hair into its usual ponytail, Ruby was polishing Crescent Rose, Blake was quietly reading in her bunk, and Weiss was meticulously organizing her books for the day. The usual hum of activity filled the space until Weiss broke the silence with a question that had clearly been on her mind since the previous day.
"Did any of you notice… um, a White Fang-like guy yesterday?" Weiss asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "I mean, I'm pretty sure he was trying to help us. Or at least, he wasn't trying to kill us."
Ruby looked up from Crescent Rose, her brow furrowed in thought. "Yeah, I guess I did experience something like that. I mean, I got knocked out and taken straight to Roman Torchwick, so… maybe?"
Blake's ears twitched slightly at the mention of the White Fang, but she kept her face neutral. "Two of them, actually. One with blue hair, the other with black," Yang added, a small smirk playing on her lips. "They saved me from that mystery girl with pink and brown hair. You know, the one who looked like she'd just walked out of a candy store."
Ruby's eyes lit up with recognition. "Oh! Good thing those guys showed up when they did."
"I didn't get anyone in a mask," Blake said, finally closing her book and turning to face the others. "But I did run into a fairly tattooed dude with red tips on his hair. He wasn't exactly friendly, but he didn't try to kill me either."
Weiss raised an eyebrow. "Lucky you, Blake," Ruby chimed in with a sarcastic tone, making Blake chuckle.
"I wonder what they were about," Weiss mused, her usual sternness softened by the curiosity in her voice. "They didn't seem like typical White Fang members. More like… rogue agents or something."
"I'm not sure we have time to wonder," Ruby said, suddenly remembering the time. "Because I really, really don't want to find out what Professor Glynda will say if we're late to class again."
Yang laughed, slinging her backpack over her shoulder. "She'd probably make us run laps around the courtyard. In heels."
"That would be torture," Weiss muttered under her breath. "But honestly, this is serious. The White Fang, Roman… something's going on, and I don't like it."
Blake nodded, her expression thoughtful. "We should keep an eye out. Those guys might have saved us, but they're still a mystery. And mysteries like that usually spell trouble."
"Right, so we'll be extra vigilant," Ruby said, taking charge as she clipped Crescent Rose to her back. "But let's not be late, or we'll have more than just Roman to worry about."
With that, the team grabbed their belongings and headed for the door, their earlier lightheartedness giving way to the weight of the unknown threat looming over them. As they walked down the hallway, they couldn't shake the feeling that yesterday's encounter was just the beginning of something much bigger and much more dangerous.
