Gwen is at work one day, feeling proud of overcoming another ordeal with the Devil and has reconnected with her childhood friend Kizzy, thus trusting her with her secret of the Inkwell Isles with her. After work, Gwen heads back to the cottage into her room. She gets out her phone and dials Kizzy's house.
In the human world, Kizzy's brother Theo is playing loud jazz music when the telephone rang. Kizzy still noticed the phone ringing and walks up to the radio and turned it off.
"Hey! I was listenin' to that!" Theo complained.
"The phone's ringin'!" Kizzy scolded.
Kizzy picked up the phone and answered,
"Thompson residence. Kizzy speaking."
"Hey Kizzy! I just got off work! Wanna go out tonight?" Gwen asked.
Just then, Theo turned on the radio, playing loud jazz music again.
"Hold that thought." Kizzy said, feeling ticked.
Kizzy puts the phone down and goes up to the radio and unplugs it.
"Hey!" Theo complained.
"I'm on the phone you lil' pest!" Kizzy argued.
"Enough you two! Theo! I thought you were supposed to be doin' your homework!" Mr. Thompson scolded Theo.
"But daddy…!" Theo was about to argue until Mr. Thompson interrupted.
"Don't you 'but daddy' me! Come on!" Mr. Thompson scolded as he led Theo into the kitchen to make sure he does his homework.
Kizzy gets back on the phone with Gwen.
"Sorry 'bout that Gwen. Theo's bein' a pest again. Anyways, I'd love to go out with you girl! I need a break from daddy and the lil' pesky fly here." Kizzy said.
"Great! How about that café coffee shop in Boston at 6?" Gwen asked.
"You got it! Just pick me up with the 'you-know-what.'" Kizzy whispered.
"I will definitely. See you then!" Gwen said and hung up the phone.
Next, Gwen dialed her sister's house. At Rose and William's house, Rose is feeding Emma while William is feeding Jack. The phone rings, and Rose is unsure how to answer the phone. She sits on the couch, letting Emma rest in her arms, uses one hand and answered,
"Hello?"
"Hey sis! Kizzy and I are going out tonight to the café coffee shop. Wanna join us?" Gwen asked.
"I'd love to, but I don't know if William would be willing to watch the kids by himself?" Rose asked.
"I'll watch them, you go join your sister." William said, offering to watch both twins.
"Are you sure honey? I don't want you to get overwhelmed." Rose whispered, covering the phone.
"I'm sure." William insisted.
Rose sighed and got back on the phone.
"Okay sis. I'll join you. William said he'll watch the kids." Rose replied.
"Great! I'll see you at 6! Love ya!" Gwen said and hung up.
Later, Gwen picks up Kizzy in Mattapan using the magic inkwell. Then, they pick up Rose and all appeared at the café coffee shop and get a table. A waitress takes their orders, and all get coffees and sipped.
"Isn't this great? The three of us here years later all grown up?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah girl. I gotta tell you, after you brought me home from the Inkwell Isles, daddy and Theo still remembered me winning the gold. I've been training myself harder for the Olympics ever since. I even got a job as an assistant gym teacher for the junior high school." Kizzy announced.
"That's great Kizzy. William and I both have our hands full with Emma and Jack. But remember Gwen, nobody else needs to know about the Inkwell Isles. So, be careful." Rose advised Gwen.
"I know sis. The Devil was to blame for kidnapping Mr. Thompson and Theo. But I was lucky I learned the memory erasing and altering power just in time. But don't worry, they're doing okay. They just don't remember the Devil or the Inkwell Isles." Gwen explained.
Gwen and Rose took another sip of their coffees as Kizzy asked the waitress,
"How 'bout a large hot chocolate please? With extra whipped cream?"
"Coming right up." The waitress said and walked off.
"Kizzy, you just had a caramel Frappuccino and now you want a large hot chocolate with extra whipped cream?" Rose asked.
"Oh yeah sister!" Kizzy said excitedly.
Gwen noticed something familiar about Kizzy's strange behavior.
The waitress arrives with a large cup of hot chocolate with an extra serving of whipped cream.
"Here you are ma'am." The waitress said as she placed down the hot chocolate.
"Thanks!" Kizzy said.
After the waitress leaves, Kizzy sniffed the hot chocolate as Gwen and Rose both stare at Kizzy.
"Uh, Kizzy?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah girlfriend?" Kizzy answered.
"AHA! I know it's you Chalice! Now get out of Kizzy's body before I make you!" Gwen scolded.
"What? Chalice is here?" Rose asked.
Kizzy sighed until suddenly, Ms. Chalice in her ghost form comes out of Kizzy's body and sits in the extra chair to Rose's shock.
"Aw, ya got me again girlfriend!" Ms. Chalice said innocently as she took the hot chocolate from Kizzy.
"You can't fool me anymore Chalice. I know all your tricks." Gwen said.
Kizzy has a brief headache until she finally regains control of her body.
"What the? What just happened?" Kizzy asked, not remembering what happened.
"Oh, we have a little stowaway here with us that just possessed you." Gwen said.
"Chalice, I thought I told you that you cannot be seen here! People are gonna freak out!" Rose scolded.
"Relax Rosie. I brought a little disguise for the human world. Nobody's even gonna notice." Ms. Chalice said as she pulled up a cloak and covered herself, making her unrecognizable.
"Who are you? And why did you possess me?" Kizzy asked.
"The name's Chalice. Ms. Chalice. And I noticed Gwen was having a girl's night out with you two! She's not having a girl's night out without her girlfriend! So, I came incognito to your world and just briefly possessed you and joined you ladies." Ms. Chalice explained as she was sipping the hot chocolate.
"Oh wow. So, you got ghost powers Chalice?" Kizzy asked.
"It's a long story." Ms. Chalice said.
Gwen explained how Ms. Chalice got her ghost powers through the Devil and she and her friends saved her from her debt along with Rose's children after he kidnapped them.
"Oh wow. That Devil doesn't know when to quit, does he?" Kizzy asked.
"No. He doesn't." Gwen said sadly.
"Hey Gwen. Remember I broke his nose at the Soulympic Games?" Kizzy asked, cheering Gwen up.
"Oh yeah. Totally worth it." Gwen said, laughing.
Rose laughed too and asked,
"And remember I personally gave him a good beating at my wedding?"
Gwen laughed and said,
"Oh yeah! That was awesome! He deserved it!"
"Oh, after Clarence and the cups rescued me after I healed my broken leg, I used a little fearful evil baby to break every bone in his body!" Gwen said as she laughed uncontrollably along with the other girls.
The waitress comes back, delivering four large cinnamon rolls.
"Here are your cinnamon rolls ladies. Fresh baked!" The waitress said, places the four cinnamon rolls down and left.
"Wait, I didn't order any…" Gwen said.
"Neither did I.," said Rose.
Kizzy shook her head until the three humans eyed Ms. Chalice.
"Okay, fine. It was me. But hey come on! It's a girl's night out! We deserve a treat!" Ms. Chalice said defensively as she started eating her cinnamon roll.
The three humans shrugged, and all started eating their cinnamon rolls.
After eating their cinnamon rolls, Rose and Gwen pay the tab and Gwen teleports themselves to Inkwell City.
"So, what do you girls wanna do now? The night's still young." Gwen asked.
"I know! Since we all were talking about the Devil, you wanna go prank him to cheer our girlfriend up?" Ms. Chalice suggested.
"Are you crazy?! He'll kill all of us!" Rose protested.
"Hold on Rose. I wanna see where she's goin' with this." Kizzy calmed Rose.
"Thanks Kizzy. Here's what I have in mind. Gather around." Ms. Chalice said as the human girls huddled with Ms. Chalice as she whispers her idea. They all laugh at her idea.
"Okay Chalice, let's do it!" Gwen agreed.
"Oh boy." Rose said, unsure.
Gwen teleports themselves to Hell. They arrive in her usual hiding spot behind a large rock. Gwen looks over noticed the throne room, but the Devil was not there. Gwen shapeshifts into a ghost and whispers,
"Wait here!"
Gwen flies off and searches around Hell. Gwen realized the Devil was in his bedroom sleeping. She flies back to the group and tells them,
"He's in his bedroom sleeping."
"Hmm, perfect!" Said Ms. Chalice.
Gwen teleports themselves inside the Devil's bedroom and all remain quiet as mice as they hide behind a large red curtain. The girls looked at the souls being tortured in the lava but try to ignore them. Gwen noticed the Devil's paintings of himself and decided to magically vandalize them by making him look stupid in each of them.
Then she magically makes a dummy of Cuphead and modifies it. She magically sets the dummy at the bottom of his bed. Gwen uses telekinesis to lift a rock and threw it at the Devil's head.
"YEOUCH!" The Devil cried in pain, waking up and removing his sleeping mask.
"WHO THREW A ROCK AT MY HEAD?!" The Devil roared.
Gwen magically makes the Cuphead dummy jump up on the bed and using Cuphead's voice, she made it say,
"I did dummy! I still have my soul! Come and get it! Na na na-na na!" The dummy taunted and laughed mockingly.
The Devil's eyes widened, growled furiously and leapt towards the dummy. But just as he was about to grasp the dummy… BOOM!
An explosion of whipped cream blew all over his bedroom, including his paintings. To finish off, the remains of the dummy lightly exploded pink glitter all over the bedroom, his paintings and the Devil. The Devil roared furiously and exploded fire, burning the whipped cream to a crisp.
Gwen manages to teleport herself and the girls out of Hell just in time. They appear in the forest outside of Inkwell City and all laugh uncontrollably.
"Okay, that was awesome! I feel so much better now!" Gwen said laughing.
"I told you girlfriend! Nothing cheers you up like pranking that hotheaded jerk!" Ms. Chalice said.
"Aw man! Did you see the look on his face? Priceless!" Kizzy said laughing.
"Yeah! It sure was!" Rose agreed, laughing.
"So, who're we gonna prank next?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"I know!" Gwen said, getting an idea.
The four girls huddled as Gwen explained her idea of their next prank and all laughed.
They all sneak to the Devil's Casino. They peek inside one of the windows and notice King Dice supervising all the patrons playing the slot machines.
"Who's the dice headed hotshot?" Kizzy asked.
"That's King Dice. The Devil's self-proclaimed 'number one'. He's the manager of the casino and he's tried to capture me and my friends a few times." Gwen explained.
"What's your plan to prank that jerk?" Rose asked.
"Just watch sister." Ms. Chalice said to Rose.
Gwen uses her ink pen and magically modifies the slot machines, making the patrons win the jackpot, to King Dice's horror.
"What the?! But how? All the machines are rigged! Boss is gonna burn me to a crisp!" King Dice said fearfully.
Henchman was also working at the casino realized patrons were winning the jackpot.
"Aw jeez. Boss isn't gonna be happy about this." Henchman said nervously.
Outside the casino, the four girls are laughing uncontrollably once again as they leave the casino to have more fun.
Meanwhile, the Devil appeared in the casino, after taking a very long shower to clean himself up. He discovers he's losing money and no souls are being added to his soul vault.
"DICE! HENCHMAN! FRONT AND CENTER!" The Devil roared.
King Dice and Henchman fearfully run up to the Devil, scared of what punishment awaited them.
"WHY ARE PEOPLE WINNING THE SLOT MACHINES?! WHY ARE THERE NO NEW SOULS?!"
The Devil furiously demanded as King Dice and Henchman fell to the floor from the impact of the Devil's yelling.
"B-b-b-but boss! It wasn't my fault! The machines just suddenly went against their programing like magic! I had nothing to do with it!" King Dice fearfully explained.
"For your sake, I hope you're right!" The Devil warned.
The Devil investigated the slot machines and noticed that they were on the programming they were supposed to. The Devil realized that the machines were magically altered.
"Wait a minute! Their programming hasn't been tampered with! Which means… someone's been magically messing with the machines! And someone bombed me and my bedroom with whipped cream and pink glitter! They even had the nerve to vandalize my beautiful paintings! Someone's messing with me! And whoever's behind this is going to suffer BIGTIME!" The Devil angrily declared.
Meanwhile, the girls were leaving Inkwell City when they suddenly noticed a blimp flying in the sky.
"Ooh! Look up there! Is that a blimp?" Rose asked, pointing up.
The other girls looked up in the sky and saw a blimp.
"That's not just a blimp. That's a lady up there." Ms. Chalice explained.
They looked up and saw the blimp shapeshifted into woman-like blimp and was snickering.
"Oh, my goodness! It is a person!" Kizzy exclaimed.
The blimp lady flies towards the group and prepares to throw a tornado at them. Gwen realizes what was happening and yelled,
"Run!"
The girls make a run for it towards the forest as the blimp lady launched a tornado, but barely missed them. Gwen thought for a moment and got an idea. Gwen magically created a spinning night lamp and set it down as a diversion. The four girls hid in the bushes and watched the blimp lady stare at the spinning night lamp fascinated. Gwen bravely steps out of the bushes and approaches the blimp lady.
"You like it?" Gwen asked.
The blimp lady suddenly shapeshifted into a cartoony-like lady wearing a red dress and a weathervane on her head. She picked up the spinning night lamp and said,
"Is this for me? Nobody's given me a gift before. What is it?" The lady asked.
Gwen was confused at first, but she goes along with it and answered,
"Uh yes, it's a spinning night lamp. It projects star lights from that lamp to help you fall asleep." Gwen explained.
"I love it! Thank you dear!" The lady said as she turned to Gwen.
"You're welcome. Just, please don't throw tornadoes at us again miss…?" Gwen said but didn't know her name.
"Hilda. Hilda Berg." Hilda introduced herself.
"Oh. Hilda, well then. I'm…" Gwen was about to introduce herself until Hilda interrupted,
"Gwendolyn Mae Emmons. I heard about you kid. In fact, I've seen you several times before with those cup friends of yours from the skies. I sleep on the clouds during the day." Hilda explained.
Gwen was surprised Hilda knew about her the whole time she's lived in the Inkwell Isles.
"Oh, wow. You live up in the sky on those clouds?" Gwen asked.
"Oh yes. In fact, I can also transform into zodiac signs. What's your zodiac sign?" Hilda asked.
"Aquarius." Gwen answered.
Hilda transformed into a cloud-like humanoid holding a jug of water and attempted to splash Gwen. But she jumps out of the way just in time.
"Hey! What's the big idea?" Gwen scolded.
Hilda laughed and said,
"Sorry, I couldn't resist! Anyway, I should be going now. See ya from above kid!" Hilda said.
Hilda shapeshifted into her blimp form, took the lamp and flew back up in the sky.
Gwen stared in shock and said,
"Weird blimp lady."
Gwen rejoins her friends in the forest. They set up a campfire and sit on logs around the fire.
"So, now that weird blimp lady is gone, what do you girls wanna do now?" Gwen asked.
"I know! Let's tell scary stories! I'll go first!" Ms. Chalice suggested.
Ms. Chalice tells the terrifying story of a man with a hook hand stalking a couple, using a hook to scare the girls. Ms. Chalice laughed and said,
"You should've seen your faces!"
"Oh yeah? Top this one!" Kizzy said.
Kizzy told the story of a woman who wore a yellow ribbon around her neck every day as was always questioned by lover until on her deathbed, he finally untied the ribbon and her head fell off. Ms. Chalice screamed as Kizzy laughed at her.
"You should've seen your face, Chalice!" Kizzy laughed.
"Okay, okay you two. I got one that'll really scare you all!" Gwen said, stopping Ms. Chalice and Kizzy's bickering.
Gwen told the story of a schoolmaster who came to a little town called Sleepy Hollow and tried to win the heart of woman whose father was a wealthy farmer but had competition with the local town hero. On Halloween night, the schoolmaster was chased by a ghoulish man called the Headless Horseman and threw his severed head at the schoolmaster, seemingly killing him.
The three girls looked scared of something, but Gwen assumed they were just trying to trick her and continued to finish the story.
"There was a rumor that Ichabod Crane survived the fall and disappeared from Sleepy Hollow to live a new life elsewhere. But the old Dutch settlers refused to believe such nonsense for they knew the schoolmaster had been spirited away by the…" Gwen was about to finish the story until…
"Headless Horseman!" A familiar demonic voice said, and the campfire blasted up, making the girls scream.
"Ugh! I was getting to that part! How dare you…!" Gwen groaned until she realized too late who was standing right behind her.
She turned around and saw the Devil standing behind her, giving her a glare. She gasped and jumped from her seat and grabbed her ink pen, preparing for a fight.
"You! What are you doing here?!" Gwen fearfully asked.
"I believe you know the answer to that question. Someone has bombed my bedroom, vandalized my beautiful paintings and tampered with my slot machines at the casino!" The Devil yelled.
The Devil caught his breath and calmly asked,
"You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you my beautiful flower?"
Gwen stood there scared, knowing she was busted. She backed away from the Devil.
"Uh, sorry. Don't know anything about that. We really gotta go so goodbye!" Gwen lied.
She turned around and attempted to leave when suddenly, King Dice appeared from behind the girls and held them hostage.
"Uh, uh, uh! I don't think so." King Dice said as he wrapped his arms around Rose, Ms. Chalice and Kizzy.
"Oh no…" Gwen said worryingly.
The Devil tsked at Gwen as he approached her.
"Oh, my dear Gwen. I thought you were better than this." The Devil said.
"Why? If you marry me, this is what you'll be dealing with. Are you sure you wanna marry me? I can be a pain in the butt too like the cups!" Gwen asked, questioning the Devil's intentions.
The Devil snickered.
"Silly girl. I know what you've been trying to do the whole time." The Devil said.
Gwen's face dropped.
"What do you mean?" Gwen asked nervously.
"You're trying to make me hate you like I hate your cup friends that I'll give up on trying to marry you. You didn't think I'd figure it out, did you?" The Devil revealed.
Gwen's eyes widened realizing the Devil knew her intentions all along.
"Well, let me tell you something dear. So far, it's not working, nor will it ever work. No matter what you've done. No matter how much you've tried my patience, you're never getting out of this marriage with me." The Devil said sinisterly.
Gwen's eyes widened in fear. Without thinking twice, she raised her ink pen and made a dust explosion. Gwen quickly grabbed her three friends from King Dice, and all make a run for it in the forest. After the dust cleared up, the Devil and King Dice realized the girls were gone.
"What the? They're gone!" King Dice exclaimed.
"They won't get far." The Devil said angrily.
The Devil levitates himself in the air and flies off to search for the girls. In the forest, Gwen leads her friends and sister to a large tree with an opening to hide inside.
"In here!" Gwen said.
They all gather inside the tree and Gwen magically makes an illusion, disguising themselves as part of the tree.
"Okay, the Devil's still after me no matter how hard I try to get him to hate me." Gwen said, out of breath.
"I told you those pranks were a bad idea! But none of you listened to me!" Rose snapped.
"Girls! This ain't helping! We need to figure out how to get out of this mess!" Kizzy argued.
"SHH!" Ms. Chalice said.
They all quiet themselves and hear the Devil flying around the area, looking for the girls. Gwen realized she was putting her friends and sister in danger and came up with a plan.
"Girls, listen. While the Devil chases me, all of you get out of here!" Gwen explained.
"Gwen no! He'll catch you! He's done it before!" Rose protested.
"I know. I can distract him long enough for you three to escape. It's me he wants, not you." Gwen said.
"Gwen no! You ain't marryin' that no-good hotheaded jerk!" Kizzy protested.
"I have tricks up my sleeve." Gwen said.
Gwen shapeshifted into a ghost and leaves the tree.
Ms. Chalice thought for a moment.
"Come on girls! We gotta get help!" Ms. Chalice said.
"But who can help us?" Rose asked.
"I think I know who! Come on!" Ms. Chalice said as she led Rose and Kizzy out of the tree and head in another direction.
Meanwhile, Gwen manages to lure the Devil away from the tree her friends were hiding in. Gwen flies away into another part of the forest and notices an observatory on a hill. Gwen decided to try to hide out there. She then heard an eerie echo through the forest.
"No matter how fast you run. No matter where you hide. No matter how clever you think you are, I will find you!"
Gwen grew scared and flew into the observatory. She looked around and saw a giant telescope pointed at the sky above the dome ceiling. Just then she heard someone coming and quickly hides inside the telescope. The Devil blasted the door open as Gwen remained quiet. He looked around the observatory, searching every possible hiding place.
"Come out. Come out wherever you are." The Devil said creepily.
Gwen never felt more terrified in her life since the night he first kidnapped her. She peeked out and noticed the Devil looking everywhere for her. But he couldn't find her anywhere in the observatory. Just as the Devil was about to leave, he said,
"Hmm. Not here. I'll bet she's run off into the forest again."
The Devil levitates himself in the air and exits the blasted door. Gwen slowly peeked out of the telescope and saw the Devil was gone. Gwen knew it was never that simple escaping the Devil. So, she hid back inside the telescope and waited to be sure he was really gone.
Suddenly without warning, she two hands reaching from behind her into the telescope magically and grabbed her. Gwen screamed as he was pulling her out of the telescope and transformed her back into her human form.
"Found you!" The Devil said tauntingly.
He takes Gwen and flies up into the sky above the observatory as she struggled to break free or teleport herself.
"Now, what do you say I take you back where you belong with me?" The Devil asked sinisterly.
"No! I love Clarence! Not you!" Gwen yelled.
"Don't worry. We'll fix that after we're married." The Devil said evilly.
But before the Devil could teleport Gwen to Hell, he suddenly noticed a big shadow covering the two.
Gwen noticed the Devil staring up at something behind her.
"What's wrong with you?" Gwen asked confused.
She looked behind and saw a giant red crescent moon with a familiar face, to her shock.
"Hilda?" Gwen asked, recognizing her face.
Hilda launches her face at the Devil and launching stars, attacking the Devil. He is hit by the stars and accidentally let's go of Gwen. She falls for a little bit until she lands on a cloud.
"Gwen!" Rose called out.
Gwen looked and saw Rose, Ms. Chalice and Kizzy were floating on a cloud next to her.
"Girls! You're okay!" Gwen said, feeling relived.
"Of course, we are girlfriend! We asked Hilda if she could help you out since you did her a kindness." Ms. Chalice explained as she jumped into Gwen's arms.
"Wait, what about King Dice?" Gwen asked.
"Taken care of." Kizzy answered smugly and pointed down.
It is revealed that Kizzy gave King Dice a good hard punch in his face, thus breaking his nose. Gwen laughed at King Dice's broken nose and then the four girls kept watching Hilda Berg continue to beat up the Devil. Hilda finishes the Devil off by summoning a UFO and blasted the Devil with a green laser in the distance. The four girls laugh as Hilda Berg shapeshifted into her regular form.
"Ha! Serves that jerk right. It was foretold in the stars." Hilda bragged.
"Hilda, thanks for saving me from the Devil. Is there anything I could do to repay you?" Gwen asked.
"Well, there is one thing…" Hilda said, thinking.
Later, Hilda is seen joining the four girls in their girls night out as they are laying on a large cloud together looking at the stars.
"See that one there? Can you guess what that is?" Hilda asked.
Kizzy looked at a constellation and has no clue.
"Uh…" Kizzy said.
"It's Aries silly girl! Do they teach you humans about the stars in the human world?" Hilda asked.
"Yes, we've learned about the stars and the constellations in school. It's just been a while." Rose answered.
"Oh. I see. You know, I've never had company watch the stars with me. It's really nice not bein' alone for once." Hilda said.
"Really?" Gwen asked.
"That's right Gwen." Hilda answered.
Ms. Chalice started to get sleepy and dozes off. Gwen notices and said,
"Well, I think that's enough fun for one night."
"Yeah, I'm ready to hit the sack." Kizzy agreed, yawning.
"I better get home to check how William is handling the kids." Rose said.
Gwen lifts Ms. Chalice in her arms and looked at Hilda.
"Thanks for helping us again, Hilda." Gwen said with a smile.
"Aw, no problem. You're the first person to show me kindness. Let's go star gazing again some night. I'll even teach ya how to fly." Hilda offered.
"That'd be great! I've always wondered if I could fly with the magic inkwell." Gwen said as she gathered Kizzy and Rose.
"Bye!" Gwen said as she tapped her ink pen and the four disappeared.
Gwen dropped off Kizzy at her house, next she dropped off Rose and finally she dropped off Ms. Chalice at Clarence's apartment.
Gwen heads home to the cottage back into her bedroom, puts on her invisible sweater and goes to bed. Just then, she noticed something placed on her bed. It was a dummy of the Devil.
"What the?" Gwen asked, confused.
Gwen realized what it was and aimed her ink pen at the dummy. But before she could make the dummy disappear… BOOM!
The dummy exploded whipped cream all over her room. The dummy then exploded red glitter all over afterwards. Gwen sighed, figuring the Devil was getting even with her for her pranks.
"Okay, we're even." Gwen said out loud as she magically cleaned herself and her room.
