I do not own Harry Potter or The Vampire Diaries (Sorry I've been MIA lately. I've just had a lot of shit going on but I finally managed to finish this chapter)
"All you have to do is go inside and pick anything and everything you want," Damon said.
"But I don't need anything," Jade said confused.
"I said get everything youwant, not need. There is a difference," Damon said.
"But I don't want anything either," Jade said.
"Well it's either I buy everything or you buy something," Damon smirked at her. "Now come on," he said holding out a hand and she took it a bit hesitantly as she looked around at the huge shop.
They all watched as Damon took her around the entire shop twice and Jade had only chosen one thing, a snake plush cuddly and she didn't even pick it up herself. Damon had seen her eying it and had picked it up along with the rest of the things now stuffing his trolley.
"That's too much stuff. You've already brought me a lot. I don't..." Jade began worriedly from where she was sitting on his hip.
"Need it? Yes I know, but I want you to have it," Damon said.
"But..." Jade began again.
"No buts," Damon said before he brought everything and left the shop.
"Damon...can we go back ho...I mean can we go back now?" Jade asked wincing at her mistep.
"It's your home too sweetheart. Don't hesitate to say that. In fact I'll be very happy if you consider it our home," Damon said gently. Jade looked up into his eyes as if looking for any signs of insincerity, clearly finding none she then swallowed and looked down.
"Thanks for giving her a home Day," Lily said gratefully.
"Best home ever," Jade said with a small smile on her face fondly remembering every laugh, every tear and every moment she'd spent under that roof. Damon smiled at that pulling her closer before. pressing a kiss to her head. He pulled awa and sent a smile Lily's way reaching out to gently grasp her hand giving her a reassuring squeeze as if to say 'your welcome.'
"Come on then squirt. Let's go," Damon nodded as he settled her in the front seat of the trolley before pushing it outside as he walked to his car. "And don't worry yourself over the money. Had you not been here, what I just spent would be just sitting there. I'd much rather spend it on someone I care about than use it on something stupid or not use it at all. I've got more than enough to last generations. The money I used today won't even come close to making a dent in the amount of money I have, so cheer up kiddo. You're too young to get frown lines," he said teasingly.
"Care about?" Jade asked, that being the most important thing apparently.
"Yes sweetheart. I do care about you and not only because you are the daughter of two of the most important people in my life but because something about you...it just...it makes me feel more close to being a human than I'd felt in a long time."
"Well, you're the nicest one I've met," Jade said shyly her head ducked down and Damon visibly brightened a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth.
"Thanks squirt. That means a lot coming from my niece," Damon said with a wink.
"Niece," Jade said softly her tone questioning.
"Yes. Your parents were family for me, like siblings, and so by way of that, that technically makes you my niece," Damon said smiling at her.
"Oh. Does that mean I have to call you uncle?" Jade said a frown marring her troubled face.
"You can call me whatever you feel comfortable with sweetheart," Damon said realising why she'd rather not call him uncle.
"Can I...Can I just call you Damon?" Jade asked hesitantly.
"Why didn't you want to call him uncle? You call us uncle," Sirius said confused.
"Now, yes. Back then, I only associated the word Uncle with Vernon," Jade said with a grimace.
"Oh. Understandable. Sorry pup," Sirius said with a wince.
"It's alright Uncle Padfoot," Jade said with a smile.
"Of course," Damon said with a smile before the screen shifted.
The next scenes showed a summary of different shots of Damon and Jade spending time together as she gradually grew up. It first showed Damon taking her to a cinema to watch a 3d film, he brought popcorn, snacks and drinks before they both put on the glasses to watch the movie. They watched with smiles as the two of them had the time of their life.
"What movie did you watch?" Caroline asked smiling at the screen.
"Um...I think it was Finding Nemo," Jade answered.
"Muggle technology has improved a lot since my time. We only had black-and-white movies," Tom said as he looked at the movie screen in awe.
"What time were you from?" Kol asked curiously.
"During the Blitz in the muggle world," Tom answered.
"The Blitz!" Caroline gasped in shock.
"Yes, and the so-called esteemed headmaster thought it a good idea to leave me in the muggle world during the bombing without permission to use my magic," Tom hissed angrily his magic wafting off him.
"You weren't allowed to use your magic!" Bonnie said shocked.
"No. There is an age restriction," Jade said with a frown before she leaned forward in her seat to rest a hand on his shoulder. She felt him tense and let out her magic to calm his anger and thankfully it worked as he immediately relaxed, "I'm sorry Tom."
"I don't want your pity," Tom said but he didn't jerk her hand off his shoulder.
"It's not pity and nor is it understanding for I couldn't understand unless I went through what you did, but in some ways, I get it. You've seen horrors you should never have seen before, all because of Dumbledore, as have I. He had no right in dictating our lives the way he did. You deserved better Tom. I at least got out of there," Jade said with a frown in place before she moved her hand from his shoulder but he held it turning to look at her.
"Thank you...Jade. Truly," Tom said before he gently held her hand and laid a kiss on the back of it before letting her go as she blushed sitting back down. Kol clenched his hand into a fist when he saw the rose blush on her cheeks at the gesture before glaring at the boy responsible.
"What do you mean Miss Potter? Professor Dumbledore wanted nothing but the best for you," Mcgonagall said confused.
"And if I told you that the reason I was in that house as long as I was, was because of Dumbledore despite him having known exactly what was going on in there? What would you say then?" Jade said with a raised eyebrow.
"No. He couldn't have known," Mcgonagall said in disbelief along with the others from Hogwarts, even those in Slytherin couldn't believe he would do something so despicable.
"He had a spy on the f* street. The bastard knew exactly what was going on," Jade spat in rage, her green eyes glowing in her anger.
"He wouldn't...He wouldn't do that to a child," Mcgonagall said but now she looked unsure.
"Wouldn't he? To get what he wants, how far do you think he'd go? The man's been manipulating people since before I was born," Jade said bitterly as those from Hogwarts exchanged looks of disbelief. "You don't believe me I get it, but you'll find out everything about the so-called Leader of the Light."
It showed Damon looking over at her in the cinema with a gentle smile on her face, his eyes softening whenever she leant closer to him, whenever she grinned up at him or giggled when something funny happened in the movie or grabbed his arm of her own volition when something shocking happened.
"That is so adorable. The way you're looking at her is just...I've never seen you look so...I don't know...happy before," Caroline said to Damon.
"Because I wasn't. How could I be when we were a literal ocean apart and I had no idea where she was or what she was doing or if she was okay. It was literal torture," Damon admitted much to their shock.
"Sorry about that. No cellphone service when you're on the run," Jade said apologetically.
"On the what now?" Lily asked her eyes wide along with James and Sirius, though he wasn't overly surprised. Damon knew she was running from the crazy guy but still the reminder that he'd been comfortable in his home whilst she'd been staying God knows where.
"Uh...you'll see," Jade said quickly focusing back on the screen not wanting to go into that.
The scene then shifted to show Damon taking Jade to a theme park and the two spending time together as they rode on multiple different rides, the two of them laughing with joy on their faces their eyes alight.
"What is that place?" Tracey asked curiously leaning forward. The place was full of so many crazy looking things with people sitting in them screaming their heads off.
"It's called a theme park. People mainly go there for the are many different ones like roller coasters, water rides, swing rides, bumper cars..."
"What are bumper cars?" Blaise and the twins asked curiously.
"Death can you show when we went in the bumper cars?" Jade asked.
"Of course Mistress,"Death's voice came from above before the scene shifted.
The screen then showed Damon and Jade sitting in two different bumper cars driving around in a small area with other cars around them. The two were laughing as they purposefully bumped into each other.
"Cool," Blaise and the twins said. "I want to go."
"After this, what do you all say about a trip to the muggle world?" Jade asked with a raised eyebrow and the Slytherins exchanged glances.
"If I'm still alive then sure," Fred said with a shrug and everyone who knew him either flinched or grimaced, George more so than anyone. "Too soon?" he asked apologetically and the others didn't see fit to answer that.
"Me as well," Blaise said to change the subject and the others agreed as well, including luna and Neville.
"Can I go too?" Caroline asked hopefully.
"Sure sunshine. The more the merrier," Jade said with a smile. What about you guys? Wanna come with?" Jade asked her gaze on Tyler, Matt and Jeremy. The boys exchanged glances before shrugging their agreement.
"You didn't even ask if I wanted to come," Elena said annoyed.
"You can if you want to. Just stay as far away from me as possible," Jade said not in the mood to deal with her bullshit.
"I like you," Katherine said with a smile.
"Thank you," Jade said not knowing what to make of her but she broke her dad's heart so she wasn't her biggest fan by a long shot. She then turned to Bonnie and asked, "Do you want to come too Bonnie?"
"Um...I'm not sure," Bonnie said. She'd never been too fond of the scary rides like her other friends did.
"Come on Bon. It'll be fun," Damon said nudging her with a smile.
"I don't like heights," Bonnie admitted.
"You don't have to go on the crazy rides. We can just hang about while the kids have their fun," Damon said leaning towards her with a grin.
"What are we going to do?" Bonnie asked. There wasn't much else to do after all.
"Well, if there's a haunted house, we can check that out, if there's a cinema we can watch a movie, otherwise we can just have lunch and maybe some ice cream or whatever else you prefer," Damon suggested.
"Together?" Bonnie asked her eyes a tad wide. That sounded a lot like a date.
"Yes. Together. Just you and me. What do you say Bon?" Damon asked his eyes hopeful.
"Are you...Um...Are you..." Bonnie lost the courage to ask and just shook her head turning her head away but Damon gently grabbed her chin tilting her head to face him.
"Am I what?" he breathed softly his thumb reaching up to very gently stroke across her lips and she had to swallow at that.
"Uh...I...Um..." Bonnie stuttered lost for words but he waited patiently until she blurted it out, "Are you...asking me out?"
"What do you think?" Damon asked his smile growing.
"I have no idea," Bonnie said distractedly as his thumb stroked along her lips almost sensually.
"Honestly Bon I've been trying to ask you out for months but every time, you thought it was a night out between friends and I was too tongue-tied to actually say what it was to me, what I wanted it to be," Damon admitted.
"Oh," Bonnie said her eyes wide in shock.
"Yeah, oh," Damon said smiling at her but his eyes were focused somewhere else and she swallowed slightly when she realised he was leaning forwards towards her with his eyes on her lips and well, she didn't want to push him away, at all, in fact she felt anticipation thrum inside of her. Before his lips could even brush against hers though, the most annoying voice interrupted, "You can't be serious?! You wantBonnie?!But she's a witch and you're a vampire. You're supposed to hate each other. Are you just trying to hurt me? i said I was sorry didn't I? You don't need to punish me. I..."
"Sorry to break it to you bitch but the world doesn't revolve around you. For fuck's sake what iswrongwith you?" Jade asked pissed off. There was something seriously wrong with the girl.
"See. It wasn't me last time and it wasn't me this time. Your precious daughter is the one who starts it. She's the one being a..." Elena began glaring at Jade but she was immediately cut off when suddenly throughout the whole cinema many stood up with their wands pointed at her, just like last time, except this time, there wasn't a furious Lily Potter staring down at her in anger.
"Finish that sentence I dare you," Lily spat sparks flying off her wand as she stared challengingly at the girl and she immediately shut up swallowing in fear.
"Elena," Alaric hissed pulling her to sit down giving her a WTF expression. "I'm so sorry about her Miss Potter," he said to the woman apologetically.
"Call me Lily dear and don't apologise on her behalf. If she says one more thing about my daughter she's going to face the wrong end of my wand," Lily said warningly. Alaric nodded in understanding feeling a tad embarrassed on Elena's behalf. What on earth was she thinking? Thankfully the screen played after that as the others sat down as well still bristling in anger.
The screen then shifted to show Damon and Jade on a few different rides, a roller coaster being one of them, as the two laughed looking over at each other with huge grins on their faces as they clutched the side bars on either side of their head tightly.
"You both look so happy," Lily smiled.
"I can't believe I'm seeing you of all people on a caterpillar rollercoaster," Alaric laughed.
"Shut it Ric," Damon said rolling his eyes a bit disgruntled still that his first time kissing Bonnie was delayed but he was also a tad relieved. He wanted the first time to be alone, with no one watching so that he didn't have to stop because he doubted he would be able to. He kept his arm around her still smirking over at her whenever she tried to 'subtly' steal glances at him, and then shifting in his seat slightly as he watched the blush bloom on her cheeks. She was always so strong so the vulnerability in the action pulled at him in ways it never had with anyone else.
"I'm assuming that this was your first time at a theme park," Caroline said with a small frown.
"Yes it was," Jade said smiling at the memory.
"I knew you'd love flying when you only laughed on the crazy rides. The huge drops had others screaming but this one was just laughing her ass off," Damon said fondly briefly tickling her side with a grin and she laughed batting his hand away playfully.
"You can't deny you loved it too dad," Jade said grinning at him.
"What can I say? I like living on the edge," Damon said with an unapologetic shrug.
"Why do you think we became friends so easily?" James asked with a grin.
"Now that I think about it, you two are actually quite alike," Sirius said as if he'd never seen it before.
"True. They're both reckless, impulsive, dramatic..." Lily began to list.
"Charismatic, charming," James added to the list with a grin as Lily raised an eyebrow.
"Rebellious streaks a mile long," Remus added much to the two's offence but he just grinned at them.
"Protective and loyal," Jade added her two scents and her dads both smiled at her.
"Good sense of humour...at times," James said with a slight wince his gaze moving discreetly to Snape in the back.
"Both selfish and selfless. It's a weird combination," Lily admitted and the two had to attest to that even if it left them slightly disgruntled.
"That all fits with Uncle Padfoot as well," Jade said as an afterthought.
"True," Lily said in agreement.
"And Uncle Moony is more like mom," Jade said.
"And you've got the best of us all," Lily said smiling at her squeezing her hand gently. Jade smiled at her mother trying to keep the tears at bay but it was hard not to get emotional to be honest.
The screen then showed Jade's younger looking in awe at a huge lit-up cylinder of water filled with fish of different sorts and coral reef of different colours, as Damon smiled down at her pointing to a few as she smiled brightly her eyes bright with a light they hadn't seen in the first few memories.
"What is that place?" Blaise asked curious and in awe.
"It's the Sealife centre," Caroline said with a smile as she watched the screen. "It's basically another attraction in our world, like a theme park. People go there to look around and see all the different creatures in exhibits that imitate their individual natural habitats."
"Huh," Blaise said looking at his Slytherin friends in slight shock and contemplation. Was he actually more curious about themuggleworld? Apparently he was, but could you blame him? The magical world didn't exactly have theme parks, cinemas and sealife centres. He couldn't wait to see what else their world had in store on the trip he'd agreed to go on.
The screen then showed a mirage of memories of the two sweeping past the screen as if they were flicking through an album of Jade's life, growing taller in each picture, tear tracks that had previously marred her face now covered with laugh lines, the previous dullness in her eyes now replaced with a beautiful light that Damons' presence had brought in her life. They watched with smiles and laughs, as the two got up to doing the most stupidest things, like the two of them chasing each other round the house, or him swinging her around in the water, her back to his front as they laughed at the beach, or the memory of him teaching her to bake that had somehow ended up with the two of them throwing flour and all sort of stuff over each other before they were both covered from head to toe laughing their heads off.
"...You threw the entire bag of flour on me."
"You're the one who poured milk all over my hair."
"You flung the batter at me first."
"That's a lie. You bopped my nose with the batter-covered spoon. I just returned the favour."
"Now that's..."
"You both are hilarious."
They watched 4 years worth of memories in the span of a few moments and it was honestly the most beautiful thing they'd difference Damon had made in Jade's life was beyond obvious as was the love the two held for each other.
"I can't believe you made sandcastles with her."
"Look at you two dancing together. So damn adorable."
"Oh my God. You had legit tears in your eyes when she said I love you. That's so..."
"I swear if you say adorable again Blondie..."
"Sorry. Can't exactly. help it. You both are..."
"Blondie."
"I was going to say cute."
"That's not any better."
And it went on like this until the memories ended just as an 11 year old Jade picked up her letter from the door with bright excited eyes.
