I'm changing part of it though so that Severus and Damon know each other. I have changed chapter 19 (when the dead came to the cinema) to suit this change but if there's any other mentions of them two not knowing each other from then to now, could any of you tell me so that I can cut it off? It'd be really helpful
Oh, and I know that a lot of you didn't want Jade to be with Cedric but i couldn't think of anyone else I'd rather her be with in her past, aside from creating another character which i honestly didn't want to do. Besides, when i bring him to cinema later on, it'll be fun writing a jealous Kole.
I may have gotten a bit overboard with the amount of words I wrote in this chapter (8648 words! Yeah I know ) I might separate it out later, or not, depending on my mood. Anyway, hope you like it. Bare in mind, I don't promise constant updates, I have a lot on my plate right now, but ill try my best.
Oh, and of course Harry Potter doesn't belong to me, it all belongs to J.K. Rowling. (I really don't want this to get deleted)
The screen shifted to show a quiet street in the night, the road lit by the lamp posts positioned uniformly down the road.
Everyone's smile from the previous scene vanished as they realized where they were, again.
"Why the hell are we back here?" Damon snarled up at the ceiling, beyond pissed, as he held Jade closer to him. If Death showed another memory of that hellhole, he was going to lose it.
"This is where my sister lived, isn't it?" Lily asked, the angry look on her face changing to a look of concern as she watched her daughter's face pale. Merlin, how bad had it been?
"Yup," Damon said through gritted teeth, having not gotten an answer.
An owl on the street sign "PRIVET DRIVE" was shown and the camera pans to the street with very identical looking brown bricked houses. The owl flies away and an elderly man with crimson robes and a long silvery white beard walks out of a forest near the street, past a tabby cat standing next to what looks like a shed.
Jade's eyes flashed in her rage as she glared at the bastard, her magic vibrating with such anger that those near her could feel it as if it were theirs.
"Jade what's wrong baby?" Lily asked concerned when a breeze started to pick up around them. She knew Dumbledore wasn't what everyone proclaimed him to be but she'd never seen him aspire such blatant rage before. What could he have done though? She knew it had to be bad.
"The old bastard is what's wrong, Lils," Damon said, his face twisted in the same rage as Jade's.
He takes out a small device and activates it and everyone watched in surprise as it zaps all the light out of the lampposts.
"What was that?" Fred and George asked simultaneously.
"A deluminator. Here," Jade rummaged around in her pouch before pulling it out, floating it over to them.
"Cool! How'd you get it?" They asked curiously.
Jade's face shuttered slightly at that. She'd held on to it as Ron was worried he'd break it but now she wasn't giving the damn thing back, not ever. "You'll see later. You guys can keep it by the way."
"Really?
You sure?" They asked with grins.
"Of course. It's yours," Jade said with a shrug. She had no need of it but she could tell from the glints in their eyes that they'd probably already come up with a dozen ideas already.
He puts away the device and a cat meows. Dumbledore looks down at the cat.
"Minnie!" Called out Jade and the twins with scarily identical grins, much to the aggrievance of a certain professor who could only shake her head trying and failing to stop the fond smile from forming on her face, but it dropped almost immediately as she realized when this scene had occurred.
Dumbledore: I should have known that you would be here...Professor McGonagall.
The cat silently looks at him, and the camera turns towards a wall. The cat's shadow turns into a woman with a tall hat and emerald robes. There are footsteps and Minerva McGonagall is revealed.
All the people from Mystic Falls turned to the strict looking woman in surprise. They'd seen Jade turn into a wolf but it was still cool to see.
"How many animagus are there? Can everyone do it? Or is it just some? Are you guys like born with a certain gene or something that allows you to do that? And what determines the animal you transfer into? Do you choose or..." Caroline was about to continue with her rapid fire questions when she heard a laugh and turned to the boy, no, man, next to her, looking at her, with a weird look in his eyes, it was almost fond.
"You may want to breathe there wildfire," Draco said with a grin and Caroline immediately blushed to the roots of her hair. His eyes darkened at the sight but he managed to shake it off as he answered her, "Let's start from the top. There aren't many animagus to be honest, even if we count those not registered as it's a very complex piece of magic. Not everyone can do it, no, and It's not really to do with genes, it takes a really skilled witch or wizard to be able to go through the ritual and even then, there may be problems. As for the animal, you shift into the animal that you have similar traits with," Draco said honestly.
"Cool, uh, thank you," Caroline said, trying to play it cool despite her obvious flustered state. She was trying to convince herself she'd only imagined that heated look on his face when he'd looked at her but she didn't think it was working. And that nickname, 'wildfire,' where did that come from? She couldn't help but admit she liked it though.
McGonagall: Good evening, Professor Dumbledore. Are the rumors true, Albus?
Dumbledore: I'm afraid so, Professor. The good, and the bad.
McGonagall: And Jade?
Dumbledore: Hagrid is bringing her.
McGonagall: Do you think it wise to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?
Dumbledore: Ah, Professor, I would trust Hagrid with my life.
"Just not your secrets," Jade, Neville and Luna chorused with a laugh.
There is a motor sound, and the two professors look up to see a flying motorcycle coming down from the air. It skids on the street and halts.
"My bike," Sirius shouted out happily looking at it with a concerning amount of love in his eyes.
"I have it with me now. I love taking it for a spin," Jade said with a grin and SIrius smiled.
"You loved it as a kid too. Any chance at all, and you'd be sitting right next to me all strapped in with an adorable toothy grin on your face looking around you with so much curiosity. You'd point at things and just carry on asking me what everything was. Those were the days," SIrius reminisced with a nostalgic smile on his face, James, Damon, Remus and Lily nodding in agreement.
"And then it was beyond hard getting you out. You were an angel for so much time that the temper tantrum you'd throw when we tried to get you out of there was honestly scary. You reminded me of your mom," Damon said with a grin causing the others to laugh in agreement.
A large man with shoulder length black hair and beard named Rubeus Hagrid takes off his goggles.
Hagrid: Professor Dumbledore, Sir. Professor McGonagall.
"Is he a giant or something?" Jeremy asked, looking surprised at the size of him.
"Half giant actually," Jade answered. "And if you think that's big, you should see his half brother Gawp. He's taller than most trees."
"Hagrid has a half brother?" James asked, surprised. As were a few others.
"Yeah, and he's a total sweetheart. He gave me this as a gift," Jade said rummaging around in her pouch to pull out a bicycle bell. "He collects random trinkets that either look pretty or make pretty sounds, like this..." she flicked the bell with a smile, "He gave it to me when we first met. Hagrid wanted to make sure he was looked after should anything happen to him." She tucked the bell back in her pouch.
"He sounds lovely," Lily said with a smile. She loved that her daughter wasn't biased like so many others were with magical creatures.
Dumbledore: No problems, I trust, Hagrid?
Hagrid: No, sir. Little tyke fell asleep just as we were flying over Bristol. Heh. Try not to wake her. There you go.
[Hagrid hands a baby wrapped in a bundle over to Dumbledore.]
"You look so adorable," Caroline gushed with a smile.
"You really do," Rebekah said with a slightly pained smile. How she wished she had a child of her own.
Lily and the Marauders all looked at the bundle with sad smiles on their faces, all of them remembering the last time they'd held her as a baby before Lily and James' deaths.
McGonagall: Albus, do you really think it's safe, leaving her with these people? I've watched them all day. They're the worst sort of Muggles imaginable. They really are...
"Thanks for trying Minnie," Jade said with a half smile.
"I'm only sorry I didn't try hard enough," Mcgonagall said sadly.
"It wasn't your fault. Believe me, nothing you could have said or done would have changed the old coot's mind," Jade said much to Mcgonagall's confusion. She didn't understand where the hostility was coming from. Well, to be fair, she always knew there was some sort of frostiness between Albus and Jade but now it was so much worse.
Dumbledore: The only family she has.
"An orphanage would have been better honestly," Jade said with a roll of her eyes. Those who knew what happened had to agree but those who didn't could only sit there wondering how bad it could possibly be for her to want to have gone to an orphanage.
"The irony would have been hilarious," Tom smirked back at her and she laughed.
"It would have been more hilarious if I said the exact same thing. 'I can make things move without touching them, I can make animals do what I want without training them. I can make bad things happen to people who are mean to me. I can make them hurt, if I want. I can speak to snakes too. Is that normal for someone like me?' Just imagine the look on his face," Jade said with a slightly maniacal grin on her face.
"How do you know what I said word for word?" Tom asked, jerking back slightly in surprise at having the words he'd said so long ago repeated back to his face.
"Dumbledore. He was trying to find your horcruxes by looking through your memories," Jade answered truthfully. "By the way, why the bloody hell would you go on and say something like that? To his face no less? That was very stupid."
"Believe me, I've regretted saying anything the entirety of my time in Hogwarts," Tom said, a slightly embarrassed flush creeping up his neck. He'd cursed himself for that for a long time. All that stupid scrutiny he'd been under because he'd opened his big mouth.
"What's a horcrux?" Tyler asked curiously.
"It's an object that acts as a container for a detached fragment of a dark witch or wizard's soul for the sole purpose of attaining immortality. It's one of the vilest darkest magic to exist," Daphne answered with a disgusted shudder.
"Yeah. Don't recommend it," Tom said with a grimace.
"How does one even do that?" Jeremy asked, looking a tad weirded out by the idea of tearing your soul apart.
"To create a horcrux, you need to commit the most supreme act of evil in order to damage the soul, which is only achieved by the wilful and deliberate act of murder," Jade answered honestly.
"Why would someone want to do that? Kill to live forever? Watching everyone you love die?" Caroline asked disgustedly. If she could choose, she wouldn't want to be immortal.
"Some people don't have anyone sunshine, no one to love, no one who loves them. Some take the suicide root, others latch on something else but only some are lucky enough to find someone to hold on for," Jade said giving a small smile to Damon, who gave her a comforting squeeze in return, knowing that once upon a time she'd felt like that until the day he'd come into her life, when she finally had someone in her corner.
Everyone was silent for a moment as they digested her words, Tom especially, knowing more than anyone, she had been talking about him. He'd latched onto the idea of immortality and had never let go and it had cost him everything. He did know though that the path he'd taken to insanity had been built by someone else's hands.
[They stop outside a house which is 4 Privet Drive.]
McGonagall: This girl will be famous. There won't be a child in our world who doesn't know her name.
"You're famous in your world?" Caroline asked curiously only to met with snorts and laughter.
"Yeah, you could say that," Draco said with a laugh.
"There's no one in the wizarding world, witch, wizard and even creatures, that don't know her name," Neville said with an apologetic look at a grimacing Jade.
Dumbledore: Exactly. She's better off growing up away from all that. Until she is ready.
Hagrid sniffles, he is sobbing a little. He clears his throat.
Dumbledore: There, there, Hagrid. It's not really goodbye, after all.
[With one last sniffle, Hagrid got back in the motorbike and flew away]
Mcgonagall: You're making a mistake Albus I refuse to watch you do this. Lily would be furious.
[She turned on her heel and apparated away]
Dumbledore sighed before he said, "I thought she'd never leave."
"Excuse me?!" Mcgonagall said pissed, not expecting nor appreciating the slight.
He looked down at the bundle in his arms and said, "Well hello there Jade Potter. I have to admit you are an adorable baby, the best of both I'd say. Now I didn't want to do this but I'm afraid I have no choice right now otherwise my plans will not work. It's why I had to compel Sirius to go after Peter.
"He what?! He f* what? The bastard compelled me?! I spent 12 years in prison because of that rat damned bastard. 12 years I was supposed to have been looking after you," Sirius said turning to Jade who got up in her concern.
Mcgonagall could not believe what she was hearing. She couldn't believe Albus could do that. If what he said was true, he'd planned for Sirius to be out of the picture, either dead or in jail. Remus was trying his best to reign it in, only so many of them could lose it at once, but he was seriously on the verge of losing control at just the thought of the man he'd looked up to, been grateful for, being the reason for losing all his closest friends.
"Siri..." Jade began with a grimace.
"You knew. You knew didn't you?" Sirius asked, pulling on his hair in frustration.
"I didn't know. I suspected yes, but I didn't know. I only knew that he'd been the witness for the change in secret keepers so he could have gotten you out of prison anytime," Jade said with a shrug her eyes glaciers of pain and rage.
"That bastard. How did you suspect the compulsion?" SIrius asked, trying not to think about the other thing she said because he didn't think he could get any more angrier.
"Because I know you. You'd drop anything for me, for the people you love. You had Pettigrew in your grasp and you left him because I told you to, no matter the grief he'd caused you, no matter the years of your life he'd cost you. It was hard to reconcile you with the same person who'd left his recently orphaned goddaughter in the care of someone else just for revenge. It didn't fit. I knew obviously that a part of you was tempted but you wouldn't have gone through with it so I suspected something else at work," Jade said and Sirius immediately pulled her to him engulfing her in a hug.
"I love you kiddo you know that," Sirius said, his voice a tad strangled.
"I love you too," Jade said, hugging him back. Sirius pulled back to press a kiss to her forehead.
"I'm so damned sorry Pup," Sirius said hating that her life was meddled with by the damned old coot.
"Not your fault Paddy," Jade said softly, using the nickname she sometimes used whenever she was feeling particularly emotional.
"Merlin if he wasn't dead I'd have strangled the old fool with his own damned beard," Sirius said pissed beyond belief.
"Well, you'd have to count me in," Jade said with a laugh.
"Believe me, at this point there'd be a line," Damon said, as she sat back down next to him.
"He would have turned you into an overconfident brat like your father.
"Hey!" James, Lily, Damon, Sirius, and Remus said in unison. He'd changed a lot from his time in school. He'd become a family man. No longer the brat he'd used to be so the friends couldn't help but be pissed at his remark.
"And that was the last thing I needed. We need you to be the good obedient little savior
"Manipulative scheming bastard," Damon cursed him with an anger that showed clear on his face.
"What does he mean by saviour?" Klaus asked, getting more and more angry on the girl's behalf.
"Jade has many names amongst witches and wizards, 'The saviour of the wizarding world' being one of them. Everyone believed it was solely her destiny as the prophecy child to defeat Voldemort as she'd done once before," Nevile answered grimly.
"But she was a baby," Rebekah said confused.
"Meant nothing to everyone else. It was easier to blame her if anything went wrong, then to blame themselves for their own incompetencies and cowardice," Blaise answered with a shrug before noticing Jade's surprised look. "Hey. Don't look at me like that. I may be a slytherin, but I'm not blind to how they treated you."
"No that's not...I'm just surprised. I never saw it that way. I just did what they wanted me to do. I never..."
"Thought about it because no one gave you the room to. You were surrounded by people who saw you as the saviour and the 'girl who lived' since you started hogwarts. Sometimes things become so ingrained that you don't even think twice about it," Blaise said, giving her a look of sympathy. "Though I suppose no one would have done it better than you."
"Done what?" Lily and James chorused in unison and Jade immediately grimaced.
"Uh...you'll see," Jade said with a very very forced smile. She did not want them to see the war at all. She didn't want them to know the extent of what she had to do to win, not even her dad knew and things were not going to look good if he did.
I admit though I was always quite fond of James and his friends, that is until they grew up. It took a compulsion to change their minds about changing to secret keeper to Pettigrew when in the past they would have listened without question.
"He must have known Wormtail was working for Voldemort, otherwise why would he have changed secret keepers? He did it on purpose. He knew what wormtail would do and he was counting on it," James said realising the fact that he'd missed out on 18 years of his daughter's life because of the bastard's meddling. He was so angry he was practically vibrating in his seat, his knuckles white from where they fisted the arms of the chair.
Lily wanted to rage herself but she chose instead to cuddle Jade closer to her trying to blink back the tears in her vision because it was killing her to think of all the years she had lost because of him. She looked at James and placed a calming hand on his first, which had an instant reaction as he deflated tears pooling in his own eyes before he pulled the arm up and scooted closer to them holding them close.
Jade hugged them both back, she hadn't known that Dumbles had compelled them to change the secret keeper to Pettigrew. Merlin, if this didn't make her hate him even more. Clearly even she didn't know the depths of his manipulations. He was playing a chess game with their lives like some freaky puppet master.
"So boy am I glad to be rid of Lily, that spitfire was pulling all of them away from my control.
"I'm actually tempted to dabble in necromancy to bring him back to life just to kill him all over again," Snape said furiously. How dare he say a damn word against Lily.
"I admit that's very tempting," Jade said glaring at the screen.
"That reminds me. Poor Severus. Obviously you don't know him but he was a friend of your mom. Well I say friend, but poor kid was in love with her from the start. They had a falling out but it didn't stop him loving her.
Lily's eyes widened as she looked back at Severus who wouldn't meet her eyes. She honestly hadn't known he'd felt that way about her. Once upon a time she had to admit she had as well but that had fizzled out the second he'd uttered that word to her. She knew he'd never meant it, it was the embarrassment and anger that had clouded him but she'd never gotten over it.
Sometimes she did regret being stubborn. She would never give up what she had with James for anything but it would have still been nice to have him as a friend. He'd always been the only one in her corner growing up and him in hers. She'd known about his home life and still, she'd been so stubborn despite his many tries at groveling and it had cost her a good friend and him, the rest of his life. It hurt her to think that her decision to shut him out had pushed him towards Voldemort and his lackeys, but she couldn't change that now. She just hoped whilst they were here, they could forgive and be as they used to be.
It came in use though. I needed him on my side, he was an asset and would make such a good little spy. It took me a while to find the perfect plan and it really worked out perfectly. Arranging that little 'interview' at hogshead, tricking Severus into listening and reporting back to the Dark Lord was genius if I may say so myself. Obviously he hadn't known that there really was no prophecy, just a wee little compulsion that worked wonders I must say, but that's besides the point.
No one could believe what they were hearing. All their eyes were just wide as they looked at the screen with varying degrees of shock and horror.
"He...That...What..." Severus got out in a strangled voice, his magic vibrating around him in a stunned rage. Jade immediately got up and moved towards him concernedly.
"Uncle Sev," she said softly knowing how he must be hurting. He looked up at her with anguished eyes clearly not knowing what to think about what he'd just learnt, and to be honest, neither did she. What she did know though was that Sev was never comfortable with attention and would only shut down to hide what he was truly feeling. "Let's get out of here," she said softly before apparating the two of them to the doors and pulling him through. She pulled him to her room and sat him down at the bed conjuring up a glass of water for him.
"Here," She said softly. "Unless you want something stronger?" His raised eyebrow pulled a smile to her lips. "Stronger it is," she handed him a glass of firewhiskey instead and he shot it straight down with only a slight wince. "Better?"
"Thanks little one," Severus said softly with a nod of his head as she sat down next to him cuddling into his side as he wrapped an arm around her.
"I'm sorry he's a colossal jerk," Jade said softly and he let out a breath at that.
"I can't believe all this time, he'd been lording that vow over my head when he was the sole reason for it. He'd planned it all, like some freaky puppet master," Severus said, her presence soothing his anger but it was still there bubbling under the surface.
"I know. He's been playing a chess game with our lives for so long, you don't even realize you've become a pawn until it's too late to do anything about it. And I hate it. I hate that the stupid prophecy was the reason they went into hiding, the reason my entire life was centered around defeating a madman who's been alive for decades, when I am literally a teenager with barely over average grades, but what I hate more than anything is the fact that you died tangled up in the shit he created, where you couldn't stand and fight for what you believed in."
"You're right on that part, little one. Being a spy has its downfalls. Every action, every decision I made, was dictated by someone else. I thought it was worth it, only to find out that I was his damned pawn." Severus said solemnly.
Jade's eyes filled with tears, "I hate that for you. That you died before you got to truly live."
"But I did Jade. You brought a light in my life that was snuffed out a long time ago when I lost your mother. Being with you let me breathe again and your dad was a good friend to me as well. Besides, I did what I had to do to protect you and honor Lily's memory." Severus said, pulling her in for a hug, before they both left to go back to the theatre.
Meanwhile back in the theatre, Sirius was working hard to calm down Remus who had finally lost control, his amber eyes glinting in a wild rage as his claws extended digging into the armrests with a concerning amount of force. Those who hadn't seen him like this before were freaking out as they watched wide-eyed.
"Come on Moony. We need you to calm down okay? Jade'll be back any minute now. You don't want to worry her do you?" Sirius said softly, knowing the only thing that calmed his wolf down was his cub.
"Cub," He growled, not calming down at all, in fact, the mention of her had him losing control even more, his amber eyes staring at the screen where the old coot's face was plastered across it.
It was only a moment later that Jade and Severus entered the room and her eyes immediately zeroed in on Remus and she immediately apparated to her seat moving to get closer to him. James and LIly were worried as they tried to stop her from going concerned about how Remus's wolf would react to her, not knowing that she was the one thing that his wolf would never hurt.
Tom had turned around in his seat concerned, the original brothers leaned forward in their seats ready to do anything in case he hurt her. Kol felt something rise up in him as she walked closer to the out-of-control wolf and a weird protective urge had him wanting to get her as far away as possible but he pushed it down because it looked like she knew what she was doing.
Jade got to him after reassuring her parents before laying a gentle hand on Remus's clawed hand. His growl immediately calmed down, as his amber eyes rested on her. "Cub," He said again, his voice a tad softer but his wolf was still there.
"Hey Uncle Moony. As much as I love these eyes of yours, you need to take a breath and calm down okay? I know you're angry, believe me I know, but losing control right now isn't going to change anything. I wouldn't stop you if the bastard was standing right here in front of you, but he isn't, so I need you to breathe okay? It's alright. Whatever happened has happened. It's all over now. He's dead. Voldemort is dead. The war is over. We can only move forward now," Jade said softly and the more she talked, the less amber his eyes were and his claws retracted until he was sat there breathing heavily with tears in his eyes.
"It's okay Uncle Moony," Jade said softly and he shook his head pulling her in his arms her arms wrapping around his shoulders.
"Shit, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to lose control. I just...He just..." Remus began cuddling her closer.
"Hey, no, don't apologise. Believe me, the bastard's made me want to lose it like a dozen times. It's alright," Jade said understandingly.
"How did you not? All your parents are hotheaded, no offence," Remus said to the three of them and they shrugged with the same look on their face, knowing he was right.
"Well I'm just unique," Jade said with a grin and he smiled at her.
"Ok. Give her back here," Damon said with a playful roll of his eyes.
"Hey we're allowed time with her too you know? She's not just your daughter. She's practically all of ours," Remus said, raising an eyebrow at him and Jade's heart melted as her smile became wider, her eyes tearing up slightly.
"I love you too Uncle Moony," Jade said, kissing his cheek, and Remus gave a 'See' look to Damon, which made her roll her eyes.
"Hey where's my kiss?" Sirius pouted and she laughed at that moving over to him to kiss his cheek with a hug.
"And mine?" James said making the same face as Sirius much to her amusement.
"You are all children," Jade said with a laugh but repeated the process.
"Well mom did say we were all probably dropped on our heads as children, therefore stunting our mental and emotional growth," James said and Sirius nodded in remembrance. Jade burst out laughing at that.
"I would have loved to have met her. I think we would have gotten along wonderfully," Jade said with a grin.
"Oh she would have loved you to bits, believe me. That woman would have spoiled you rotten and not felt an ounce of guilt about it," Sirius said with a fond grin.
"Yeah, and your dad would have treated her like a little flower," Lily said with a soft smile.
"Yeah he would have. Just like he treated mom," James said with a sad smile.
"Are we just going to ignore what just happened? What the hell was that? Can he not control that side of him?" Elena burst out her eyes looking at Remus in fear and disgust and when she said 'side' her face had scrunched up in revulsion.
"Listen to me very carefully you little bitch, I have had it with you. You say one more thing against my family, or even look at them the wrong way, I will rip out your fucking tongue. Got me?" Jade said snapped pissed her green eyes on fire, drilling holes into her skull. Kol couldn't help but think she looked particularly magnificent when pissed. Those eyes. Damn those eyes. They were killing.
"Elena," Alaric snapped at her when he saw her about to say something that was not agreeable in any way. From the look in the Jade's eyes he wouldn't be surprised if she actually went through with what she said and as much as Elena was angering him right now, he didn't want that to happen.
Elena looked at him with childish petulance but there was obvious fear in her eyes as they turned back to Jade and she just nodded her head sharply.
"Good," Jade said, her eyes dimming down just slightly as she sat back in her seat. "Sorry about that Uncle Moony. Some people are just ignorant of others' struggles and have the ridiculous delusion that the world revolves around them."
Damon smirked at that. That was so him. She was trying to provoke her now. Can't blame her honestly. He really wanted to kill the girl. He didn't know how they'd ever gotten along, he was actually embarrassed at himself for thinking she was a nice girl, when she was just an overly spoiled winging brat. Even the little Gilbert was more tolerable than her.
Elena sneered, her voice dripping with contempt. "You little bitch. That aunt and uncle of yours clearly didn't do enough to get rid of that..." She didn't even finish that sentence before Damon was on her his hand wrapped around her throat, surprisingly Death hadn't stopped him, or maybe it wasn't that surprising.
Elena's eyes widened in fear as Damon's grip tightened, his face a mask of fury. The room fell into a tense silence, everyone watching with a mix of shock and anticipation.
"Say one more word. I dare you," Damon growled. The air seemed to crackle with the intensity of his anger.
Elena's throat worked, struggling to form words as she gasped for air. Her face turned red, a mixture of fear and defiance flickering in her eyes. The threat in his tone was unmistakable, and Elena's hands clawed at Damon's, trying to pry them off, her attempts growing increasingly desperate, but he wasn't letting up no matter how much force she used and that freaked her out, even as a vampire she wasn't strong enough.
Tears welled up in Elena's eyes as she struggled to breathe. She looked to Damon her eyes clearly pleading, but his gaze was cold and unrelenting. His anger was too intense, and the love she had for him did nothing to ease the fear she felt in this moment. Jeremy and Alaric had stood up at this point trying to stop him but he wasn't moving.
"Dad! Dad calm down. It's okay," Jade said, coming down the steps looking at him worriedly.
"It's not fucking okay. She had no right to bring that up. She watched it for fuck's sake," Damon said with a growl and the others had to attest to that remembering with horror how the man had treated her.
"I know. I know. But this isn't going to do anything okay? I told you before, yes, she may deserve it, but she has family dad. Please let her go," Jade said softly.
"Why are you defending her?" Damon said pissed.
"I'm not. I'm doing this for you. You know you'll feel guilty. She's his sister and your friend's daughter?" Jade asked Alaric confusedly.
"No I'm their guardian, more or less, or I was," Alaric said feeling relieved as he saw her getting through to Damon. He couldn't help but be pissed himself though at Elena. He didn't really understand much, but from the conversations he'd overhead, he knew they weren't the best of guardians before Damon came into her life and if Damon was reacting like this, it had to be bad, so yeah he was disappointed.
"Come on dad. You know you're going to feel guilty, no matter how much you hate her so please let her go," Jade said softly and finally, with a snarl, Damon released Elena, throwing her back against the chair she had been sitting in. She collapsed into it, her breathing ragged as she coughed herself hoarse. Her eyes, filled with a mix of shock and pain, stared at Damon in fear as she tried to compose herself.
Damon moved away from her in revulsion before he turned to walk back to his seat, only to pause as he looked at Alaric. He clenched his jaw running a hand through his hair, "Sorry man. I..."
"Don't worry about it. She's your daughter. I'd have done the same, more or less," Alaric said, slapping his back understandingly. "Just...try not to do it again."
"Tell her to keep her mouth shut around my daughter and it won't be a problem," Damon said walking over to Jade pulling her in a hug. "Sorry baby, didn't mean to lose control."
"It's okay. Believe me i was tempted to do the same," Jade said with a grin before she looked at Jeremy with an apologetic look, "Sorry about that kid."
"I'm not a kid," Jeremy said slightly offended.
"No? How old are you then?" Jade asked curiously. He looked like a little teenager.
"I'm 16," Jeremy said.
"Huh. You look younger," Jade said.
"No I don't," Jeremy said petulantly, a very slight pout on his face.
"Pretty sure you do," Jade said with a grin.
"No I don't," Jeremy said.
"Do you want me to say 'yes you do' again so we can proceed to have a five year old conversation?" Jade said with a laugh and Jeremy's cheeks burned red slightly. He couldn't help it, he didn't know even why the girl was even talking to him considering Elena was being a bitch to her but he liked her. She was nice and sweet, especially with her family, very unlike Elena, who was only nice to you when you did as she wanted, control freak extraordinaire.
"What the hell is wrong with you both? Why are you talking to her? She's the reason..." Elena said before she was cut off.
"Elena shut up. I swear to God if i hear one more word out of you, I'll ask this death guy if it's possible to ground you in your damned room so everyone here can get a moment of bloody peace," Alaric said looking at her sternly, having had enough.
"I do think a grounding is in order. I'll bring you back when you calm down. Bye bye now,"Death gave a sinister chuckle before Elena all of a sudden vanished from her chair."Don't worry she's alive in her room."
"Thank Merlin," Jade said with a sigh of complete relief.
"Merlin?" Jeremy said clearly, trying not to laugh.
"He's the wizarding world's version of God. The things he's done in his life, you have no idea," Jade said, shaking her head in clear wonder.
"You know Mistress, Merlin was my sister's chosen,"Death said much to her shock.
"Like I'm yours?" Jade said surprised.
"Yes. Fate and Destiny have their chosen as well,"Death said.
"Wait, how many of you are there?" Jade asked curiously.
"There are a lot of deities Mistress but only some get chosen for the 4 positions of power. LIfe, Death, Fate and Destiny,"Death answered her.
"Cool. So who were fate and destiny's chosen?" Jade asked.
"Believe it or not, Fate's was Arthur Pendragon and Destiny's was Morgana Le Fay. Morgana lost herself to the darkness and was taken, Arthur died in battle young but came to rise later to walk the earth besides Merlin for thousands of years before they were too taken,"Death answered and the entire audience was captivated. It was surreal for those not part of the magical world to learn that things they'd read about in story books were real, and it was actually a part of history.
"Huh. What happens to you guys when your chosen dies?" Jade asked looking up in curiosity.
There was silence for a moment before Death said,"My sister became a shell of herself for a long time after losing her. Fate and Destiny the same. They are not who they used to be."
"What about you? What about when I die?" Jade said sadly.
"You nearly died that one time, Mistress and it killed me. I was seconds away from unleashing hell up there before my sister found a way to bring you back,"Death answered after a moment truthfully.
"I don't really know what to say," Jade said, biting on her lip feeling so very sad for them all.
"It's okay Mistress. I will be with you, at your side, till you take your last breath on this earth, then I will meet you up her to greet you one last time before you cross over to the other side,"Death said softly and everyone in the hall was just sitting there wide eyed at their conversation. They couldn't believe thatDeaththe deity, had feelings, that he cared, he sure sounded like it.
"I don't know what to say to that either," Jade said tears actually blurring her vision.
"You don't need to say anything. Believe me, you will live a very long and happy life If I have any say in it, which I do. Your death will be your choice, Mistress. That is the gift I give you. You will be taken from this earth when you choose to leave,"Death said and everyone gasped in shock. Did he just basically grant her immortality?
"What?" Jade asked her voice shocked.
"I know you Mistress. I have watched you grow into the wonderful woman that you are so I know that the last thing you'd want is immortality, seeing everyone your love die around you with no reassurance of seeing them ever again. Well that's what I give you. My sister can suck it for all I care, and so can the others. They owe me one anyway,"Death said to her.
"Death you are a real softie you know that?" Jade said with a smile on her face now in her dad's arms as he took her to their seat holding on to her. He didn't like even thinking about her death, but he was so beyond grateful to Death right now that he didn't have to worry about outliving her anymore, that he never had to see her like he did that one time. He literally will not be able to take that. He loved her way too much. He'd rather kill himself than live in a world without her.
"Call me Alexander. That is my name Mistress,"Death, or Alexander, said."But only you. No one else."
"Yeah, you're a real softie Alex," Jade said with a grin.
"Alex?"Death said from up there with a chuckle.
"Hey I like nicknaming those I like," Jade said with a grin. "And I am growing fond of you surprisingly. But don't think I am still not unhappy about this movie thing."
"Of course not Mistress,"Death said.
"You can call me Jade you know," Jade said to him.
"Whatever you say MIstress,"Death said and Jade glared up at the ceiling.
"Alex," Jade said annoyed.
"Yes Mistress?"Death said much to the amusement of the hall. They honestly couldn't believe what they were hearing.
"Not funny Alex. I'm serious," Jade said, immediately pointing her finger at Sirius. "Don't say it." The others laughed at Sirius's pout, clearly showing he was definitely going to say what she thought he was.
"Of course Mistress,"Death said clearly enjoying his.
"You are taking the mick now Alex." Jade said rolling her eyes. "Just start the damned screen, honestly."
"As you say Mistress,"Death said.
"Alex for the love of..." Jade was cut off by the screen playing and she huffed shutting up as she sat back in her seat. "Insufferable," she muttered and everyone jumped at the laugh that came from above before they focused back on the screen, the mood turning somber.
Oh look at me rambling away to a toddler. It does admittedly feel good though to finally tell someone my plans," Dumbledore said before strolling up to the door and instead of knocking or anything he just left her on the doorstep.
"What the hell? The old coot left you on the fucking doorstep? Is he stark raving mad?" Sirius exclaimed in anger.
"Mans on drugs I swear," Tyler said with a shake of his head, only for Jade to burst out laughing at that.
"Well, Merlin knows what's in those lemon drops of his. They've turned him loopy for sure," Jade said and those who knew his fascination with them, started laughing as well.
"I wish he choked to death swallowing one of his precious lemon drops," Lily said pissed and everyone could understand why she'd been given the name Lily 'The Dragon' Evans in school. She was a spitfire for sure.
"Sweetheart i really fucking love you you know that," James said looking at her with actual hearts in his eyes, like he still couldn't believe she was his. Lily gave him a look, half fond, as if feeling the same, and the other half exasperated, like she wondered what she'd seen in him.
"I love you too," Lily said with a smile shaking her head only to be surprised when his lips landed on hers and she immediately closed her eyes her hands tangling in his hair as she pulled him closer and he immediately pressed himself closer to her, his hand travelling to her waist as his other tangled in her hair angling her head to kiss her deeper.
"Ok, ok, that's enough. Get off my sister. This is disgusting," Damon said grossed out as he let out a groan and they pulled apart breathing heavily staring into each other's eyes like they were going to go at it again. "Don't even think about it. I'm serious. You're traumatizing your child," and that snapped them out of it as they turned to Jade who only rolled her eyes.
"Dad I'm pretty sure you're the only one traumatized," Jade said to him. Yes it was a bit weird, considering she was sitting right next to them, but they were in love, so who was she to say anything about them showing their affection for each other?
"Quiet you," Damon said playfully, nudging her side.
"Hmm. I think a few tweaks here and there are in order. They already hate you because of your parents so I doubt you'd be given princess treatment but maybe just a little more of a nudge will help my plans run more smoothly," Dumbledore said and he waved his wand muttering a few spells around the house.
Those who knew the spells immediately stiffened in shock and horror as they looked wide-eyed at the screen.
"Oh my God. He calls himself the leader of the light and the fucker's using dark spells," Blake said pissed on Jade's behalf.
"What spells did he use?" Jade asked, having a really bad feeling when her parents and uncles exchanged grim glances, rage easily visible in their eyes.
"They are dark spells cubs," Remus said and she knew immediately that now it was really bad, when his eyes began glinting amber again.
"What spells did he use?" Jade asked more forcefully.
"He used...Merlin, baby...he used any possible spell you can think of that would promote any form of violence," Lily said feeling sick all of a sudden. How could he do this to a child? What fucking plans had he made? Why was her baby at the center of it all?
Jade stiffened, frozen, as the weight of her mom's words sank in. Her heart pounded in her chest, a sick feeling gnawing at her, a blinding rage building up inside her. Her hands clenched into fists, her knuckles turning white as her mind raced, every horrid memory of every beating flashing in her head as if her mind had unlocked every memory she'd kept locked away.
She could see it all—every time her uncle's hand had struck her, every cruel word her aunt had spat at her, every bruise, every scar. All of it, every single moment of her suffering, had been orchestrated, manipulated. The realization made her stomach turn, her rage burning hotter with every passing second.
"Jade...?" Her dad's voice was soft, careful, but it barely registered. She was too lost in the flood of emotions, the tidal wave of anger that threatened to consume her.
"He made them," she whispered, her voice trembling, the rage mixing with disbelief. "He wanted them to hurt me, to break me. He wanted me submissive. He wanted a fucking pet to abide by his every fucking command. How could he do that? How could he just decide that my life—my pain—was worth his damn plans?"
"Jade," Lily said, her voice desperate to reach her daughter, but Jade shook her head, the anger spilling over.
"Hedidthis to me! He took away my childhood! Every fucking scar they gave to me is because of him, every blasted memory burned in my brain is because of that bastard!" Jade yelled, her voice cracking with the intensity of her emotions. "All this time, I thought... I thought it was just them. That they were just evil. But all along it was him. How much of their actions were theirs, and how much was his? I don't even know what to fucking think anymore."
Her eyes flashed with fury, the green in them burning brighter. Jade's fists were shaking, the anger rolling off her in waves, her previously blonde hair, much to their shock, turned blood red and they all sat there wide eyed.
"Mistress,"Death's voice came from above but Jade was too angry to even hear him."You need to calm down. He is dead now and they can never hurt you again. You're safe Jade."
Somehow it was his voice, hearing him call her by her name, that calmed her down. She sat back in her seat trying to focus on breathing and the more she calmed the more the red faded to her normal blonde.
"Baby you okay?" Lily asked softly.
"No," Jade said honestly sitting back in her seat resting her eyes for a second, only to surprisingly feel something slither up her arm."Havoc what are you doing?"He normally came out when he wanted but he honestly liked staying in her pouch.
"You are sad. I could feel it. Do I need to bite someone?"Havoc asked slithering up to curl up on her collarbone.
Jade laughed softly."No, that's alright. The person I'd want you to bite is dead anyway."
"That's unfortunate. I wanted to bite someone,"Havoc said disappointedly.
"Jade...I'm really sorry about, well, everything. You didn't deserve any of what he did to you,"Tom said to her and she lifted her head to look at him with a small smile.
"It's not your fault Tom. You know, I thought I knew a lot of his plans but clearly he was more twisted than even I thought possible. I was a kid, a freaking kid. Merlin,"Jade said resting back against the seat.
"I know,"was all Tom could say to that.
"Just play the damned thing," Jade said after a moment, and no one said anything so the screen started playing from where they'd left off.
"I would apologise for this, but it's for the best. Good luck Jade Potter," Dumbledore said before he takes a letter and places it on the bab and then apparates away.
The baby has a lightning-bolt shaped scar on her forehead. The camera slowly zooms towards the scar which glows brightly and it immediately flashes, transitioning to a stormy cloud sky. The film's title in metallic gold zooms out around the camera, and lightning flashes to brighten it up. Then, the lightning flashes engulf the screen, transitioning it to the present time.
"Jade Potter and the Philosopher's Stone? Huh. That's actually fitting for first year," Jade said to the title. "Why is this so like a movie though?"
"As promised Mistress,"Death said from above making her roll her eyes.
"What's the philosopher's stone?" Bonnie asked curiously.
"You'll find out later,"
