The sun was shining down on the island of Shinda, near Galar's waters. The island had been bought just half a year prior, by his newest crazy investor.
He was such a bizzare man. Nobody knew how he hoarded such a fortune, however, everybody knew that Eliot Fireheart had enough money to rival the richest people on the planet. How he came to be was a mystery.
Everybody that had the honor to meet him was either intrigued by his demeanor, puzzled, or more commonly, both. Half the time it was like talking to a careless child; the other he was a seasoned gentleman. It made no sense!
Some said that he was playing five dimensional chess, while others insisted that he played checkers. Maybe he was playing mahjong, but there was no way of knowing for sure.
What really mattered were his projects.
Eliot always used his immense wealth to fund the craziest ideas. It didn't matter how successful they appeared, if a project pickled his interest, he'd pour an immense amount of money in it. Of course, many visionaries always came up to him with their wildest of dreams, but few actually saw his help.
However, he had never looked as excited as today.
It had all started six months ago.
A man had found him while he was taking a coffee at his favorite bar in Luminos City.
"A private Academy!" he shouted, "For the elite trainers of the future!"
He placed an insanely detailed model of a gigantic school complex right on the coffee table. His confidence was stunning to say the least, and Eliot loved confident men.
"There's many private academies around the world already. What would make this one special?" he asked the man, who took place in front of him. He placed his windbreaker on the back of his metal chair, and went back to explaining.
"It would be on an island. Students transfer over for two four and a half months semensters, while they spend the holidays home. The facility is outfitted with everything you could dream of. Dormitories for the students, living quarters for the teachers, a battle arena for the Pokémon. The whole island would be a gigantic ecosystem of Pokémon from all the corners of the world!"
"That sounds ambitious." commented Eliot, while he took a sip of his hot, bitter drink.
"It is! We'd need an insanely big island. We'd need to import who knows how many wild Pokemons! An Academy, to train the elitest of the elite! We'd be making future Gym leaders! Elite Fours! Champions!" he explained, a bit too excited.
Eliot had to admit that he liked him, despite his unhinged demeanor.
"...It's not a bad idea, I'll give you that," he said, as the last drops of his coffee went straight down his throat, "however."
"However?"
"I don't like the elites of the elite part." he calmy admitted.
"Why? The costs for this island would be insanely high! I'm saying elites because they could actually afford-"
"This'd be a school of merit," he declared, placing his empry coffee on the table, "I like you, mister?"
"Judiot!"
"Judiot. It's a novel idea. However, it wouldn't be limited to the richest."
Judiot looked bummed.
"But we can't just let anyone in, can we? Let's be real for a moment, Mr. Eliot. Not everybody is cut out to be successful in life..."
"You're right. We're having something like, I don't know, a contest? How many students should we get?"
"A few hundred at least, right?"
"Too many."
"...Around fifty?"
"Manageable."
Eliot presented his old, wrinkled hand. "It's a deal."
Six months in the making, Eliot poured a bit too much into this idea.
They bought an island near the region of Galar. It was called Shinda, and had been deserted for at least a few centuries. They began construction as soon as possible. In a few months, their Academy was completed. A few bribes really did help speed up the process.
Importing the pokemon was the hardest part. Apparently, Haxoruses don't like when you take them out of their environment. Miraculously it worked though, and in record time, the island was inhabited by hundreds of different wild Pokémon. Judiot insisted a lot on this part, because it was meant to train them to travel and catch wild pokemon. Eliot liked it.
Finding people to run the place was surprisingly easy, strangely enough. His picks were quick to be found, and after being presented the conditions, all accepted in the blink of an eye.
The island was ready.
They approched by boat, just him, Judiot, and the future principal, Hector Hames, an old friend of his. He refused to be principal, too much of an hussle.
The three men arrived to the newly built harbor, currently fully empty. The boats had yet to arrive, and the wooden docks were deserted. Exception made for a Conkeldurr, who spotted the three of them earlier.
The massive Pokémon was waiting for them to throw the ropes, so they could dock their little boat properly. Judiot took the lead, and launched a massive rope towards the hulking beast; he grabbed the rope like it was nothing, securing it to the dock with all of his strength.
The boat slowly came to a stand still, and the three men finally stepped onto the island.
Eliot took out a Luxury ball, from which emerged an Armarouge.
"You know the deal, Oscar." He said, as he left his lugagges to the Pokemon. A bit annoyed, the knightly creature took his heavy possessions like they were made of paper.
"Her strength is impressive." Commented Judiot, while Hector observed in silence.
The Conkeldurr approached the other two men, and without even asking, took their bagagges.
The group began to finally move from the island's shore, and embarked onto the newly made stone path to the school.
"When are we opening?" Asked Hector, serious and impassibile as always.
"Two days!" Answered Judiot, full of excitement.
"The staff?"
"Coming tomorrow."
"The students? You found everyone?"
"Yes! All fifty. It wasn't hard at all, I guess Eliot's name being attached to this helped quite a lot."
"You can say that outloud." joked the millionaire.
"Thank you, mr-"
"Outloud."
"THANK YOU, MR ELIOT!"
The school was standing in front of them, standing a few hundred meters away.
It was massive. A gigantic concrete structure, with everything you could wish for inside. A dream come true.
The group arrived at the gates, after a few minutes of walking. They were reinforced, to prevent the entrance of any unwanted wild pokemon.
Eliot looked at the Golden Insignia on top.
WELCOME TO SHYNDA ACADEMY
Ok, so, submissions are currently closed.
Will I ever open them up again? Yeah, certainly.
When? Dunno. Probably when the current students finish their first year, if you want an actual moment to look out for.
As of now, I won't be taking any new OCs in the cast. You're free to prepare them for the next batch or whatever, but I won't allow anyone new to join the protagonists for a while. And my whiles tend to be pretty long.
You want to submit an OC? Sorry dude, too bad, you gotta wait. Reading the story is a good time waster, you know?
I'm going to leave up the submission form and info in case anyone wants it, also I'm too lazy to right click and delete it.
Enjoy your reading.
Hello! This is my first SYOC story, like, ever. I wanted to have something to write just for fun, and came up with a pretty overused idea. I'm not really original, however, I wanted something entertaining to write. A few info, first.
The Shynda Academy is an academy for the most promising trainers of the globe.
Getting in requires passing a contest held across all regions, and if your OC gets in, don't worry, they already made it.
The Academy is composed of a four year long course that prepares trainers to everything they may face. Anything you can think of is covered: breeding, battling, catching, training, and maintaining pokemon.
Students are allowed to bring along up to 6 Pokémon, and freely catch any they find on the island.
Of course, I don't need to specify obvious stuff like "no legendaries or impossible Pokémon, like hisuian or paradox mons.", however, if anything's wrong with your team, I'll let you know.
You're free to make gimmick teams, or gym leaders. To make things more fun, specialists are allowed to choose their specialty in what they want. Otherwise, just make a generic trainer.
Your OCs will stay on the island at all times, they'll effectively live there for 9 months a year. Hope they have fun!
Oh, and since 100% someone will ask, yes, romance and relationships will be allowed, HOWEVER, discuss beforehand with other creators about them, and refer to me trough PM.
Now, for Submissions. SUBMIT TROUGH PM. I'm not taking Reviews OCs.
Quantity? I've yet to decide, but if there's enough, I'll aim for the biggest cast possible. Only 1 submission per person, though. I'll try to group them up in a single class, but if they're too many, I'll split them.
The deadline is DECEMBER 1ST. I've got exams right now, you know. This way, I can give you all the time to make your characters, too
Any doubts? Hit me a PM, I'll clear them up.
Here's the form. Enjoy!
