"what are you doing?" Brick asked, watching Butch kneeling down in front of the wheat. Butch wore blue short overalls and a striped white and green t-shirt with no shoes while his black hair was pushed back and slightly messy. Brick wore a bright red shirt with rolled up sleeves, blue high waist jeans, red and white sneakers and a red baseball cap.

"there's a rat in the field" Butch replied in his best impression of a country accent.

Brick looked at where he was watching and used his x-ray vision.

"that's a squirrel" he corrected.

"doesn't matter! its my prey" Butch hissed.

"have fun then. I'm gonna go find that dead tree" Brick replied as he began walking off.

"hey Bo-what the heck?" Brick said as he entered Boomers bedroom. at the end of the bed was a huge whiteboard where Boomer was drawing.

"hi Bri! look what I found in the basement!" Boomer greeted. he wore pale pink overalls with a pretty flower print, a blue shirt and blue ankle boots while his blonde hair was tied back in a low ponytail.

"oh that explains it. what are you doing?" Brick asked as he walked over.

"I'm creating a fantasy world!" Boomer replied.

"good for you. do you know where the dead tree is?" Brick questioned.

"I forgot about that. ask But, he probably knows after just a few hours of being here" the blonde-haired boy replied.

"can't. he's off hunting a squirrel" Brick spoke.

"did you just say-"

"yep" Brick cut off his brother before he could finish.

"then go ask Emily or Antony" Boomer replied as he got back to drawing some kind of map.

"right. thanks" Brick squeaked before zooming to the living room.

"Annie!" Brick declared, sneaking up on Antony sitting on the couch from behind.

'yes' Antony signed.

"which way is the dead tree?" the red-haired boy asked.

'straight north. there's a compass on top of the fridge' the strawberry-blonde-haired man signed.

"I don't know how to read a compass" Brick admitted, to which Antony pointed straight ahead.

'go outside before you zoom off please' Antony signed.

"thank you!" Brick squeaked before zooming out the front door.

when he got to the dead tree, he was surprised. sitting at the trunk of a nearby tree was a boy his age. he wore a red t-shirt with a white eight on the front, beige shorts and blue sneakers while his black hair was ear-length. he was reading a book about mythology.

"hi. who are you?" Brick asked as he approached the boy.

"oh! you must be one of the kids miss Emily and mister Antony adopted. my names Jacob! pleasure to meet you!" the boy said as he stood up.

"I'm Brick. yeah. they adopted me and my brothers, Boomer and Butch" Brick explained.

"are you the rowdyruff boys?" Jacob asked.

"yeah. but we're trying to have a new start" Brick replied with a smile.

"well good for you! I hope you find our community welcoming and exciting!" Jacob spoke, spreading his arms out wide.

"thank you! I was just looking for this dead tree to let out some anger" Brick thanked, gesturing to the dead tree.

"can I watch? I promise I'll stay at a safe distance" Jacob queried, crossing his fingers.

"I am so jealous of your fingers" Brick commented.

"well it's either one. superpowers, or fingers" Jacob replied before he burst into laughter, followed by Brick.

"alright, I'm gonna start beating this tree up" Brick laughed as he turned around.

Butch watched carefully as his prey moved through the growing wheat.

finally, he pounced, grabbing his prey and holding it in his hands as it struggled.

Butch zoomed over to the porch where Emily was sitting while reading a book on farming.

"look what I caught!" Butch said proudly.

"oh? oh!" Emily was surprised by the squirrel in his hands.

"why don't you let the squirrel go at the edge of the woods okay?" Emily suggested.

"okay!" Butch replied before zooming to the edge of the forest and letting the squirrel go.

"so what's your family like?" Brick asked as he tore a branch off the dead tree and repeatedly whacked it against the trunk.

"my mommy and auntie manage the carrot farm while my daddy delivers food to townsville! do you know what miss Emily and mister Antony do?" Jacob explained, sitting against a nearby tree.

"uh no, I just know they own the wheat farm" Brick replied as he kicked the dead tree.

"my mommy and daddy say mister Antony is the one who delivers the bread after miss Emily has made the bread" Jacob spoke.

"now I want bread" Brick said as he paused his attacking of the dead tree.

"me too! how about we go to your house and get some bread and butter!" Jacob declared as he stood up.

"I've never had bread and butter together" Brick commented as he followed Jacob towards his house.

"well your about to!" Jacob replied as he began running.

"Jacob! time for lunch!" someone called from a distance.

"aw man, see you later" Jacob sighed as he began walking away from Brick.

"bye!" Brick smiled.

"boys! lunchtime!" Emily called out over the vast wheat fields.

instantly Brick and Butch zoomed over from different directions.

"where's Boomer?" Emily questioned.

"he's upstairs. can we have bread and butter for lunch?" Brick queried.

"yeah, yeah, yeah!" Butch quickly agreed.

"of course! that's actually what Antony was planning to make for afternoon tea" Emily replied, gesturing for the boys to follow her inside.

they both followed her inside where Antony was getting ready to cook pasta in the kitchen.

"hey, Brick and Butch would like to have bread and butter instead" Emily said as Boomer came down the stairs.

Antony nodded before he walked over to the closet and got out a homemade loaf of bread.

"hey, aren't we supposed to have like, chores?" Boomer questioned as he finished the last of his food.

"well how about you kids each get to pick one chore to do and we'll see how it goes after that?" Emily suggested.

"dibs on pest hunting!" Butch declared, holding his hand up in the air.

"can I water the fields?" Boomer asked.

"I'd quite like to try making bread" Brick smiled.

"how does that sound Antony?" Emily asked.

Antony signed something, to which Brick gave a small cheer.
