Ponyboy Pov:

I watched them all leave one by one, doing their own impressive stunts. I remember that

Darry taught us all last summer after taking one acrobatics class. The purpose was to enhance

our skills in fights, but Two-Bit and Soda somehow managed to get arrested. I guess backflippin'

off of curbs and hand standing in public disturbed the peace or whatever. Boy did our parents

flip when Soda called them to get bailed. He was grounded for a month, but that didn't stop him

from sneaking out to meet Sandy. I would remember, especially since I had to stay up until 3am

to open the window for Soda to crawl in.

Speaking of windows, I looked outside to see it pouring and decided to start on the dishes. The

gang would be a mess anyways when they got back, might as well take some work off of them. I

was feeling much better after about 5 aspirins and even cleaned up the whole house. The whole

house would probably be trashed again tonight, but it's the thought that counts.

After every nook and cranny of the house was cleaned, I plopped down on the couch, flippin'

through a bunch of tv shows. At one point I just gave up and read Gone With The Wind. It's

been about an hour by now, and it was getting real quiet being alone. Usually rumbles only

lasted about 40 minutes, but an hour meant something went wrong. Another ten minutes went

by before I got up and grabbed a flannel jacket. Right when I was about to step out, a message

blared on the receiver.

"Beep- Hey Pones, Two- Bit here busted his knuckle open real bad, ya can see the bones n'

everything! Anyways Johnny isn't hurt that bad, since he mostly stuck with Dallas, but he

probably needs some stitches on his forearm. Considerin' most of these knuckleheads being

stubborn, we'll be awhile at the clinic. Love ya! By the way don't bother comin' down the clinic or

Darry will have yer hide."

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holdin' after Soda's message and tossed the jacket on the

couch. Based on the stubborn part, I knew they would at least be another hour or two. The clock

ticked 11pm and the aspirins made me pretty tired. I decided to just head on to bed when

another message was received.

"Beep- Saw you weren't at the rumble today. What a shame, greasers like you don't deserve to

live. You should've just drowned and made life better for your poor ass brothers. You know

what? Sheldon should've been the one to make it to state finals for the football team if it wasn't

for your big brother. He cheated his way to the podium and dropped out because of you. Watch

your back grease, we're coming for you."
