Rebuild Saga- Part 3
8 months since the heroes training in the Hyperbolic time chamber.
During this time everyone was separated, living life. Now in West city, Trunks is wearing a suit with a backpack on.
"West City high." Reading the sign, one of the newer cities rebuilt completely, students are seen entering the premises by bus or by their parents dropping them off.
Trunks, despite being only 9 years old, jumped through middle school to high school thanks to his genius brain.
Made freshmen, he enters the building, much to his surprise, despite being stronger than everyone in the school, seeing older school mates can be a bit nerve racking.
Now he made it to class, entering inside, he noticed they were all looking at him.
"Hi…" Looking shy but at the same time annoyed.
"Oh lad, you must be Trunks Briefs." The teacher who has a moustache that looks pasted.
"Students, this is Trunks' Briefs. He's an exceptional child who'll be attending our class."
Rolling his eyes, hands in pockets. "Not a child." He mumbled, before he was told to have a seat.
Looking around, trying to find a seat, he noticed a girl with blonde short hair that had a seat free by her.
Shrugs, he moves towards the last few rows before sitting next to her. In that same row it would be a jock with long blonde hair and another girl with short hair.
"Hey kid, nice meeting you, I'm Ersa." Offering her hand as Trunks shakes it back.
Staring back at the two other students that are carefully watching him, "Oh next to me is Sharpener, and the one next to him is Videl, we are all seniors."
Waving at them, as they continue to snicker.
"How old are you anyway?"
"I'm nine years old." Much to the shock of the others.
"Hey quiet over there!" Stumbling, hiding behind a book.
"Nine? Wow, I heard a young student is attending but to think you're just nine years old is amazing." Trunks just chuckles a bit.
Throughout the day, his adventure in school was interesting.
Making friends, attending a chess team, encountered some bullies but quickly overpowered them which caused everyone to be speechless, definitely Vegeta's son.
After school however, he releases a capsule and starts heading home.
'Maybe I should head over to Goten's.' Changing course, he headed towards Goten.
Mount Paozu
It's been a long time, Trunks decided to hop out of his capsule, before going by the door.
First however he'll see a giant man carrying groceries, "Hi Ox King." The youth smiled, as the man looked back with a smile too on his face.
"Oh if it isn't Trunks. I'm assuming you're here to see Goten huh?" Which the boy confirmed.
Both would chit chat for a bit before Chi-Chi opens the door. "Gosh I was wondering where you went dad." Looking down at the purple hair kid. "Oh Trunks, it's great seeing you again. But I'm afraid Goten can't come out and play." Looking upset at the idea of him playing after what he did.
Trunks just rubs his head nervously, but then he sees Goten behind her, hand on her pants leg.
"Please mom, can I at least talk to him for a little bit." Putting on a puppy face.
Chi Chi shakes her head, "You can forget about it. I only ask for you to take out the trash and do your homework, but no you don't listen." Scolded Chi Chi.
"But mom, I was helping Lime and Mr. Lao with their farm." Pleading his case.
Waving them off, "It's okay Goten, I was just checking with you, I got to start heading back home before my mom kills me."
"See mom, it won't be long. I promise." Giving her puppy dog eyes, which she relented, much to the Saiyan happiness.
"Thanks mom!" Both of the boy's run off towards the waterfalls.
"You haven't talked to Yamcha too huh?" Trunks shakes his head, "Ever since the chamber, I've been busy helping grandpa and grandma around the house."
Goten pretty much expressed the same thing, "But knowing Yamcha, he's training day in and out for that Cell guy."
"Speaking of which, we always heard about Cell and how he wreaked havoc on this planet before we were born, but he hadn't come back yet."
Something Goten thought about, "You question if he ever exists?" Trunks tumbles over.
"No moron, I'm saying he's probably already dead. Think about it, why wouldn't someone like him take forever to show up?" Which is an interesting theory, Trunks has been thinking of.
Goten looks in awe. "Yea, that's a great question. But who knows? Yamcha did say he killed all of his friends including our dad's. He probably thinks no one of interest is here." Reasoned Goten, which Trunks just sighs.
"I'm just tired of the paranoia, mom doesn't think she shows it, but the amount of times she surveys the Earth or messes with that stupid machine gets tiring."
Something the 2nd son of Goku can understand, his household do have an air of paranoia themselves.
"I have something that can take our minds off something else." Trunks looks over as Goten transforms into a Super Saiyan, "Let's spar."
"Are you crazy, your mom will totally notice." Not trying to be caught in a crossfire,
"No flying, besides mom can't sense energy, besides I know you want to."
"You know you're goading me but you're right…10 minutes." Just like that he effortlessly turns into his golden form.
Let's say these 10 minutes caused a ruckus.
XxXxx
Meanwhile, Yamcha is in the woods chasing after a herd of monkeys that broke free, following behind is 18 who enjoys seeing the human having one hell of a time trying to keep a big stampede under control.
"Wait guys, go the other way-WAH!" Immediately getting ransacked by monkeys, as 18 find this humorous at the human state.
Several miles later, 18 got it under control as she communicated with them, with her years of working as a park ranger, they quickly followed her, several of them on her shoulder also with her carrying them.
"You okay there strong guy?" Said strong guy covered in scratches just gives a thumbs up, with a pissed expression on his face.
"Just dandy." His tone of sarcasm got her laughing. Maybe Yamcha should stick to baseball.
Few days later, Yamcha and 18 would train. Both at their usual training grounds in the woods.
These two have been close throughout the years, but over these past months they've been getting closer.
It's no doubt they are friends, what makes it easier for 18 is how simple and understanding Yamcha is.
He realized how her life wasn't the easiest, being forced to become a cyborg, being stripped of her humanity to be an old man ploy for vengeance. All she had was 17, then Krillin even briefed the fact he actually was protecting her from Cell, but now both are gone.
That's where Yamcha comes in, someone who at first rejected his existence slowly let him in her life.
"Hey..Yamcha?" He looks over at the woman, she looks down showing uncharacteristic shyness.
"Yo, what's the matter 18?" Staring at the woman, who just looks away, much to his confusion.
"Tomorrow…" Damn it girl, get it out. Yamcha is still staring, he's not making it easier."Stop staring idiot." Out of instinct, she shot a ki blast at him.
"Woah!" Dodging narrowly, while looking at the woman as if she was crazy. "Well if you stop acting like a schoolgirl and spit it out, I wouldn't be!" The nerve of this woman.
Gulp, she turns towards him, "I never really cared for it, but since you humans do I want you to know tomorrow is my birthday…"
Looks in awe, now he thinks about it, she never mentioned anything about her birthday, or anything about her personal life.
"That's awesome 18! Happy early birthday." Walking closer to her, "So how old would that make you?" With that she puffs, storming off.
Rubbing his cheek nervously, "Stupid Yamcha, why would you ask that?" But then he would smile, her telling him that information must have meant something.
The next day, Yamcha would come back to meet up with 18, after all he wants to celebrate her birthday.
Luckily for him, she wasn't too far from where he was looking.
"Didn't expect you to come by so early." Her monotone voice sometimes can get a mixed feelling.
Smiling, "You think I'd miss your birthday after telling me? Not a chance, come on, we're going to the city." Hopping in his car, waiting for her to come in.
Crossing her arms, "Why don't we just fly?" Getting flashbacks of 17 using cars just for the joy of it.
"You know we can't just fly, people will freak out." Fair point, she gets in the car as they begin to speed off.
In Orange star city, 18 was like a city girl again, in the mall she would shop and get thousands of clothes and jewelry, much to Yamcha's regrets.
'When I said everything's on me, I didn't expect her to take it literally.' A trait he didn't know about 18 that she used to be so big on fashion.
Once they were done, the cashiers and managers would look on in shock at the amount of clothes she brought over, Yamcha eyes going wide as he read the final prices.
"Ah yes, the total will be 300 million Zeni" If he never experienced a cardiac arrest before, he sure was close to it.
Throughout the day they will continue hanging out, during her birthday.
It's now night time, they would split for a few hours, as Yamcha told her to wear something nice as he had something planned for them to go.
Yamcha checking his watch has been 15 minutes since the time he told 18 to come to the restaurant.
In his rose red tuxedo, black shoes wearing a nice rolex, as his hair in a ponytail.
"Man, I wonder where she could be." Starting to think she flaked on him, something he should expect, this doesn't seem to be her thing, as she doesn't like being around people, adding the fact, this was a little too romantic.
Sighing, turning to leave he was met by a pair of blue eyes.
There stood Android 18 in her beauty with her blonde hair tied up nicely, wearing a white dress that hugged her curves perfectly, that stopped a few inches above her knees. Black heels, and a few bracelets.
"Sorry, I was contemplating what color dress I should wear." Lost in her beauty, he didn't respond.
She put her hands to his head, "Are you ill?" Staring at her beautiful red filled lips, he quickly recovered.
"Oh yeah, I'm completely fine. Haha." A little embarrassed being called on the spot, but thank Kami that 18 naive to certain human behavior.
As the night went on, they enjoyed dinner but the two were kind of silent.
Then they start to see couples starting to dance on the floor where people are playing karaoke, Yamcha offers his hand, as she looks at it before getting where he is suggesting.
"I don't dance." She replied coolly, but he still holds it out.
"Who knows? You might enjoy it, don't knock it until you try it." She then resigned and held his hand, as he ushered to the dance floor.
Both would awkwardly move in sync, as they both feeling nerves, Yamcha who is not used to doing this, he figured he can get the woman to open up more and who knows maybe find a hobby.
(Song playing: I'll give you Romance)
Starting to gel their moves together, he allows her to spin, before pulling her back in which the woman's face is flustered, as that sequence was unexpected.
Using his sloppy telekinesis, he got a rose and put it between his teeth.
She then took it and put it between hers, 'Where did that come from?' She thought as now they spanned across the room.
Gaining everyone's attention, they were clapping, egging the duo on as they continued to enjoy themselves, as well as entertain their unexpected audience.
A few hours have passed, it's 11:55 am as they're now sitting atop of a mountain as the moon is out on full display, Yamcha telling her more stories of his adventures.
"Can't believe that's how you met Chi Chi." She let out a heartfelt laugh, much to his embarrassing moment.
"Yeah, I sometimes question how I let myself get into the mess I am in." Rubbing his head. "Hope you enjoyed your birthday?"
She gives a curt nod, "It went..better than I had expected."
Piqued his curiosity, "Oh yeah how you thought it would go?"
"You messing up somehow, or I'll get annoyed being around all these people, or some per-"
"Okay, I get it." He deadpanned. "But at least none of that happened." She quickly agrees.
But now, he'll sit right next to her, something that made her heart skip a beat. Human emotions can be a trivial thing.
"It's quite beautiful isn't it?" Snapping her out of her thoughts. "Everynight I come here and just think of the obstacles I had faced, and the current one we're in." Gripping his fist, "To be honest, it gives me hope we will win."
"Yes, but is that all you think about?" This time, he looks back over 18.
"I mean, let's say if we beat Cell, what else would there be for you to do?" That question never pondered his mind, 8 years he's been obsessed with getting stronger to defeat Cell.
"I don't know. I can't answer that, as long as that bastard is out there, I have no purpose until he's dead." His mind keeps going back to that day, everytime he thinks of his fallen comrades, he is reminded by how weak he was, perhaps the weakest out of the group but yet he survived.
Getting closer to Yamcha, "I'm not the best at reading people, but I know how taxing it is." Looking him in the eyes as his head turns toward her.
"You put the whole world on your shoulders, and you shouldn't have to. You have me." She's trying her best to comfort him, in turn he slowly grabs her hand.
"Thank you, I'm glad I was able to get to know you." Her cheeks flushed as she turned her head a bit.
"Don't get too sensitive on me." He laughs at her getting shy again but their grasp on each other haven't left.
Memories surfacing on how they first met, she never had thought a guy like him would be strong or interesting enough to care about.
But now he's all she can think about, much to her annoyance at first, but now it's quite endearing. To have someone that's powerful but doesn't take things or rather himself seriously is admirable.
"Lazuli." His face scrunched up in confusion, "My real name, it's Lazuli."
A beautiful name indeed. "Nice to finally meet you Lazuli." He said sarcastically.
She simply rolls her eyes, "Cornball." But just like that, she pulled in for a kiss which shocked Yamcha, as his eyes went wide for a bit, he then returned the kiss, as his hands held her cheeks, the longed passion they both had finally came out.
At 12 am, their kiss continues but then a mental image of Krillin comes into his mind, stopped in his tracks as he gets up from the kiss, which leaves 18 stunned and confused.
The guilt of kissing the woman that his dead friend was protecting until the very end reeled in.
"I'm sorry." Just like that he sped off, as Lazuli was left speechless as tears began to build up.
That's it for the 3rd chapter of New Future!
I was excited to write this chapter out, wanting to explore more into the daily lives of our heroes, especially Yamcha and 18's relationship.
Of course Yamcha is still traumatized and has survivor's guilt which I'm sure some of y'all picked up on since the first chapter. I can't wait for the next chapter, as we're getting closer now to Cell's eventual return on Earth.
One more note, I also have completed a power levels list, I'll post it soon for those that are interested, most likely it will be revealed in the chapter of Cell's return.
With that said, have a great day everybody!
