Chapter 5: Attack Begins
Narumi sat on the couch as she watched Itachi clean and sharpen his weapons. He examined a kunai carefully to make sure it was still usable and didn't have too much damage that it could break on him in the middle of a battle. Feeling satisfied, he placed it in a pile before going on to another. Narumi studied the weapons, knowing them well as she was taught how to use them from the moment she could walk. She watched Itachi as he cleaned another kunai as her mind wondered what it was like to hold his blades.
Curiosity got the better of her as she reached out to grab one of the knives, only for Itachi's own hand to grab her wrist as he smirked at her. "Not happening. If Sasuke can't touch them neither can you."
Narumi pouted as he let go of her hand. "But I know how to use them."
"And that's the problem." Itachi said as he went back to cleaning his blade. Narumi became confused upon hearing that. "Why, you and Naruto know how to. And you told me you two started training before I was born so you both started pretty young didn't you?"
Itachi nodded yes to her question as he set another kunai down and started on another. "We did. We both started when we were five to six. But even then we didn't do nearly as much as you had to. Our training was more tame."
"Tame?" Narumi asked, confused as to what he meant.
"It was less than what you had to go through. We basically played games at the start to get the idea of how it all worked. Most kids don't start training for real until they enter the academy, and even then it's not as much as what me or Naruto do. Though me and Naruto were special." Narumi was very interested in that as she leaned closer to him. "What do you mean special?"
Itachi cleaned the last of his weapons before putting them away. "We were better than most kids our age. So we did things at a faster pace than others."
"Cool!" Narumi lightly cheered as Naruto entered the room.
"Hey, mom says it's time for dinner." The other two nodded as Itachi looked at the little Uzumaki. "We can talk more about it later." Narumi smiled as she went past her brother towards the kitchen to eat. Itachi followed behind her but stopped next to Naruto who hadn't moved from his spot next to the doorway.
"You lied." Naruto stated as Itachi only nodded. "She doesn't need to be doing this kind of stuff yet. So telling her we did things a little later felt like the right thing to do."
Naruto shrugged as he began to walk away. "I'm not blaming you. I would have done the same thing."

Mikoto watched Narumi and Sasuke wash their hands at the kitchen sink and making sure their hands were clean. Feeling satisfied, she sent them to the dinner table as Itachi and Naruto entered the room. She directed them to the sink, much to their frustration and the little one's amusement, but when the two older boys tried to protest she put her foot down. Deciding it would be smart not to anger the woman, both boys did as she said before sitting down to eat.
The family was about to start eating when they heard a door open. Narumi wondered who it was as she watched an older man walk into the dining room, the others seeming to be happy to see him. "You got home early." Mikoto said to the man who nodded. "I was able to get everything done earlier today." Naruto gave a smirk as he rested his chin on his arm. "For once."
The man looked at him and smiled. "Coming from the one who's always late when on a mission." Naruto frowned at that as he scowled at the man. "Not always."
Everyone but Narumi looked at Naruto with unamused expressions as the boy looked at them. "Aw come on."
The man chuckled as he finally noticed Narumi sitting next to Sasuke. The girl shrank in her seat, not trusting the stranger. The man smiled at her before looking to Naruto. "So she's finally feeling better?" Naruto nodded as the man looked back to Narumi. "Well it seems we haven't been introduced yet, now have we. My name is Fugaku, I'm Itachi and Sasuke's father. It's good to finally meet you Narumi."
Narumi looked to her brother who gave her a reassuring smile. Looking to Fugaku, she shyly nodded to him and gave a small "hello" back. The man nodded back as he sat in his seat at the table. The dinner was quiet as everyone ate.
Narumi finished first as she looked to Mikoto. "What do I do now?" She asked the woman. Mikoto gave her a soft smile. "You can have more if you want." Narumi shook her head no. "Alright, then you can keep your plate there and leave if you want." At that the girl nodded and left the table, going to hers and Sasuke's room. the others watched her leave as Fugaku looked back to Mikoto and Naruto. "That bad huh?"
They nodded to his question as Sasuke finished his food and decided to leave the table. The rest of the family stayed silent for a moment as Fugaku started to think to himself. "So Danzo had her?" He asked Naruto who nodded. "Of course he would." the man said. Naruto held back a bit of anger, something his adopted father noticed.
"Naruto, I know you want to take revenge on that man. Believe me I do as well. But for now we must wait." The boy nodded slowly as he got up from his seat and left the table. The others sat in silence, knowing the boy needed to cool off. Fugaku sighed as he looked down at his plate. While on the outside he was stone faced, on the inside he was almost as mad as Naruto. That man took his best friend and rival's child and tortured her for her whole life. A child he could consider a niece or even now a daughter like how he thought of Naruto as his nephew or son. That man would pay, he'd make sure of it.

Sasuke entered his room and found Narumi sitting on her bed. Thinking for a moment the boy went to his own bed and laid on it. The room was silent for a few minutes before Sasuke looked to Narumi who had her back to him, holding her legs to her chest.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked.
"Nothing." Narumi answered quietly.
Sasuke rose from his bed into a sitting position as he continued to stare at her. "What was it like?"
Narumi turned to him, confused. "What?"
"At that place. With your papa. Was it bad?"
Narumi frowned as she looked away from the boy. "Yeah." Narumi answered in almost a whisper. She could feel the tears forming as she put her head down and went into a ball. She felt weird here. It felt almost too good being here. She felt so overwhelmed and didn't know what to make of it.
She felt her bed shift as Sasuke moved next to her and sat down. She knew he was looking at her as she hid her face. Suddenly she felt an arm around her as she looked to see him hug her for only a moment before he made space between them.
She didn't know what to say as he looked away from her embarrassed. "Why?" she asked. He went red for a moment before looking at her. "If you're living with us then that makes you family. And if that's the case then you're like my little sister, and I can't have my sister be sad. So stop being sad ok." Narumi was shocked for a moment before she smiled. "Thank you."
He smiled back as the two looked out the room's window, twilight beginning as night would soon replace it. Just outside the room, Mikoto and Fugaku watched the two bonding as they both had
warm smiles on their faces. Looking to one another they both knew what needed to happen as Mikoto opened the door. "It's bath time you two."

Mikoto sighed as she rubbed Sasuke's sleeping head. Looking up she met the tired eyes of Narumi. Walking over to the girl she knelt down. "You ok."
Narumi shook her head. "I don't know." She said softly. Mikoto rubbed the small girl's head gently, speaking softly. "It's all strange, isn't it?" Narumi nodded.
"It's alright. Just take some time and you'll see." Narumi stayed silent.
They both stayed like that as Mikoto looked out to the night. "Mrs Mikoto." She looked down. "Yes."
"Can you tell me more about my mommy?" The woman smiled as she nodded. Narumi gained a smile as her eyes closed. The woman watched the sleeping girl, she knew her job as she looked to her husband in the doorway. They both nodded to one another as he walked back into the hall.
He walked quietly, making sure not to let the small children wake up. His son's stood in the living room, Anbu gear ready. They all knew that if something happened tonight they'd be ready. Many in the compound knew what was at stake as they prepared for anything to happen. But it wasn't just them, many in the village were preparing.
Some had gone to look for the man who betrayed the village, others were preparing for anything to come. The leader of the village looked out at his home. He had always allowed his friend to get away with more than he reasonably should have, in the end seeing it as necessary for his village's safety and stability. But this, this was too far.
No tears were in his eyes. No, only rage. His anger was building, it had ever since he found out who took his successor's daughter. His old friend will know just how much of a mistake he made. Very soon.

They ran through the roofs. They'd already had to kill 8. No, 9. They still weren't at their location yet, but they all knew it would be in sight soon. The leader stopped. There it was. He'd be in front. His best with him, the rest went to do their missions. He knew his was the most difficult,
the chance for failure was so great he knew it was likely most of his twenty man squad currently with him would die, but that never mattered to them. They only care for what their master wishes. Now it was time. They descended to start their mission.
