Chapter-3: Gifts
A few weeks later, Erza stood alone on a quiet beach, a little ways away from Magnolia. The soft sounds of the waves crashing against the shore filled the air. She was dressed casually in black pants, a sports top, gloves covering her hands, and her hair tied back into a practical ponytail. The tranquility of the moment was interrupted only by the occasional flutter of a seagull in the distance.
"I wonder where he is…" she thought to herself, glancing down at the sand, her gaze landing on a second set of clothes she had laid out beside her: a pair of baggy white pants and a simple muscle shirt.
She picked up the muscle shirt, her lips curving into a mischievous smile, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "Oh, you're going to look so good in this," she giggled to herself, already picturing how Natsu would look wearing it.
Just as she was about to set the shirt back down, she turned around, her smile bright and welcoming, but before she could say anything, a sudden force swept her off her feet.
"Morning," Natsu greeted with a grin, effortlessly lifting her up and gently setting her back on the ground.
"Hey," Erza said, her hands softly resting on his shoulders as he put her down. Without hesitation, she leaned in and kissed him, her arms wrapping around him in a warm embrace.
"Was I late?" Natsu asked, looking down at her with a playful glint in his eyes.
"No," Erza smiled, her tone light, "I got here earlier."
Natsu raised an eyebrow, looking at her with curiosity. "What's with those clothes?" he asked, gesturing to the baggy pants and muscle shirt she had ready.
Erza smirked, her eyes gleaming mischievously. "They're for you," she said with a teasing edge to her voice.
Natsu blinked in surprise, a hint of curiosity and excitement in his eyes. "For me?" he repeated, glancing down at the clothes in her hands. "What's the occasion?"
"Some training clothes, plus eye candy for me, I get to see those muscles some more."
Natsu raised an eyebrow, a mischievous grin tugging at his lips. "Eye candy, huh?" He chuckled, looking down at the clothes in her hands. "Well, I guess I can't disappoint then."
Erza smirked, her gaze sharp and playful. "I'm sure you won't," she said with a wink. "But seriously, I thought it'd be a good chance for you to switch things up a bit. You've got the strength, now let's see if you can work that new look too."
Natsu grinned wider, a bit of excitement dancing in his eyes. "I can pull off anything, you know." He grabbed the clothes from her hands and quickly began to change into the new outfit, tossing his old clothes aside.
Erza watched him with an amused look, crossing her arms. "Let's see about that, then," she teased, her eyes narrowing slightly as she studied him.
A few moments later, Natsu stood before her in the loose white pants and muscle shirt, looking a little unsure but still carrying his usual confident expression. "So, what do you think?" he asked, spinning around slightly, as if trying to show off.
Erza took a moment to inspect him, "You look great darling."
Natsu chuckled, "I have to say, hearing you call me that is strangely warm."
Erza giggled, "Oh I will always remember your reaction when I first called you that, you froze completely."
Natsu's cheeks flushed slightly at the memory, a sheepish grin spreading across his face. "Yeah, well, it was a bit unexpected," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "But I'm getting used to it now." He flashed her a playful smile. "It's not bad, actually."
Erza raised an eyebrow, her smile turning more mischievous. "Not bad? You're starting to sound like you enjoy it," she teased, her voice light and playful.
Natsu grinned, clearly enjoying the teasing. "Maybe I do," he said, his tone turning slightly more teasing. "You know, it's hard to resist when someone as strong and beautiful as you calls me 'darling.'"
Erza chuckled softly, her eyes softening. "Flatterer," she said, stepping closer to him. "Alright, enough with the compliments. Let's see if you can back them up with some actual skill."
"Oh? You want to see where my flirting skill gets me? Well that IS quite bold of you." teased Natsu.
Erza raised an eyebrow, her lips curling into a playful smile. "Oh, I'm not talking about your flirting skills, Natsu," she said, her voice dripping with mock seriousness. "I'm talking about your fighting skills. But if you want to make it a competition, I'm happy to oblige."
"A competition? What's the reward?"
"Maybe I'll sneak you into my dorm? Maybe you'll sneak me into your house?" teased Erza.
"I don't need to sneak you in, I live alone."
"Well then I guess you have enough motivation to win."
Natsu grinned, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Oh, I definitely do," he said, rolling his shoulders in preparation for the challenge. "Guess I'll have to bring my A-game then."
Erza chuckled, her stance shifting as she readied herself. "You better, Natsu. This is no walk in the park…we've had that yesterday."
Natsu chuckled and leaned back taking a stance. "Come at me."
"Don't mind if I do!"
Natsu's grin widened as he watched Erza's stance, feeling the excitement build between them. "Alright, no magic," he said with a playful smirk. "Let's see if you can keep up with me."
Erza, her eyes gleaming with determination, charged forward in a fluid motion. She aimed a punch at Natsu's face, but he easily dodged it, stepping to the side with a smooth shift of his weight.
"Not bad," Natsu commented, his voice light, but his movements sharp. "But you'll have to be faster than that."
Erza didn't back down. She quickly closed the gap again, throwing a series of quick jabs at Natsu's ribs. Natsu effortlessly blocked each one, his movements sharp and precise. His hands were a blur as he deflected her strikes with ease, his reflexes honed from years of experience.
Erza huffed, her eyes narrowing as she shifted her approach. She feinted a high punch and then, in a flash, dropped low to aim a sweeping kick at his legs.
But Natsu was already one step ahead, leaping backward just in time to avoid the strike. He landed lightly on his feet, a wide grin on his face. "Nice try, Erza," he said, taunting her slightly. "You're gonna have to be quicker to land a hit on me."
Erza scowled playfully, but the competitive spark in her eyes only grew stronger. "Don't get too cocky, Natsu. I'm just warming up."
They continued to trade blows, their movements flowing and fluid, but Natsu's experience in hand-to-hand combat and his speed gave him a noticeable advantage. Every time Erza tried to land a punch or kick, Natsu was there, dodging, countering, and returning the pressure with his own precise strikes.
Despite his dominance in the exchange, there was something exhilarating in the way they sparred—no magic, just raw strength and skill. And Natsu could tell that Erza, while not as skilled in hand-to-hand as he was, was learning quickly and adapting to his movements.
"You're holding back," Erza teased, taking a quick step back to avoid a particularly hard punch from Natsu. "Come on, give me a real challenge!"
Natsu smirked, knowing she was enjoying the spar just as much as he was. "Oh, don't worry, Erza," he said, "I'm just getting started."
The fight was far from over, and they both knew that the real fun had only just begun.
After their intense hand-to-hand sparring session, both of them were slightly out of breath, their smiles wide and satisfied. Natsu wiped the sweat from his brow, still grinning from ear to ear. "Alright, alright. You've got some moves, Erza," he said, leaning back on his hands, still catching his breath.
Erza chuckled, wiping her own face with a cloth, her eyes sparkling. "I told you I could keep up. But now…" she trailed off with a smile, "it's time for the next part of the training. I'm going to teach you how to use Re-Equip."
Natsu raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "You want to teach me your Magic?"
"Yes, it's very useful to know, you won't have to bother with carrying stuff anymore, and it will be good for the …. gifts i managed to get you."
Natsu blinked, intrigued. "Gifts? You got me something?" He raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I thought we were here to train, not for you to spoil me."
Erza smirked, her tone teasing but deliberate. "Perhaps both. Re-Equip is spatially based magic—you create a pocket dimension where you can store and retrieve items. It's as dangerous and useful as the things you keep there."
Natsu crossed his arms, clearly catching on. "You're talking like you've got something specific in mind. Are those the gifts you mentioned?"
Erza's smirk deepened, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Perhaps~," she replied, her voice laced with playful mystery. "But you'll have to learn Re-Equip first if you want to see what I've prepared."
Natsu leaned forward slightly, his curiosity now piqued. "Alright, you've got my attention. I'll bite—show me how this works."
Erza nodded, her expression shifting to a more serious tone as she began explaining. "Re-Equip magic is simple in concept but requires focus and discipline. You visualize the item you want to summon, and then you draw it from your personal pocket dimension. The key is to form a strong mental connection with the object—imagine its weight, shape, and even the feel of it in your hand."
Natsu tilted his head, considering her words. "So, it's not just about knowing you've got something stored away. You've gotta feel it, right?"
"Exactly," Erza said, smiling with approval. "Once you've mastered the basics, it becomes second nature. You'll be able to switch between weapons, armor, or tools in an instant. It's perfect for someone like you who thrives on adaptability in battle."
"Alright," Natsu said, his determination shining in his eyes. "How do I start?"
Erza gestured toward a small pile of practice items she'd brought—a simple dagger, a gauntlet, and a basic chestplate. "We'll begin with these. First, you need to create your pocket dimension. Close your eyes and focus. Picture a space, empty and endless, that belongs only to you."
Natsu obeyed, shutting his eyes and concentrating. "An empty space, huh?" he murmured, his brow furrowing. "Kinda like when I focus my flames but… quieter?"
"Exactly," Erza said, her voice calm and steady. "Once you've formed that space in your mind, reach out with your magic. Feel for the item in front of you and imagine it being drawn into that space. Don't rush—take your time."
Natsu's expression grew serious as he extended his hand toward the dagger. He could feel the weight of the object in his mind, and after a moment of focus, it vanished in a small burst of light.
His eyes snapped open in surprise. "Did I do it?"
Erza nodded, a proud smile on her face. "You did. Now, summon it back. Picture it leaving your pocket dimension and returning to your hand. Remember, it's all about focus and intent."
Natsu exhaled, closing his eyes once more. This time, he imagined the dagger appearing in his grip. With a soft flash, it materialized in his hand. He grinned, holding it up triumphantly. "I did it!"
Erza clapped her hands lightly. "Well done! You're a quick learner, Natsu. Let's practice a few more times before we move on to something more advanced."
Natsu's grin widened as he tossed the dagger into the air and caught it again. "Alright, bring it on! If this means I get to see those 'gifts,' I'm all in!"
Erza chuckled softly at Natsu's enthusiasm. "Patience, Natsu. Mastery first, then rewards." She gestured toward the other items in the pile. "Try the gauntlet next. Its heavier weight will require more focus to store and summon."
Natsu picked up the gauntlet, feeling its weight in his hands. He focused again, his brow furrowing slightly as he visualized the pocket dimension. Slowly, the gauntlet disappeared in a faint glow, and Natsu grinned. "This is kinda fun," he admitted.
Erza smiled approvingly. "Good. Now, bring it back."
With a deep breath, Natsu concentrated. This time, it took a few seconds longer, but the gauntlet reappeared in his hand. He flexed his fingers, testing its fit. "Got it!" he said, his grin widening. "I think I'm getting the hang of this."
"You're progressing faster than I expected," Erza admitted, her tone genuinely impressed. "Most people struggle to connect with heavier or more complex items, but you're adapting quickly."
"Guess I've got a knack for it," Natsu said with a confident smirk. "So… about those gifts?"
Erza rolled her eyes playfully. "Alright, alright. You've earned a glimpse of what's to come." With a graceful flick of her wrist, she summoned a large chest in a burst of light. The ornate container landed with a soft thud, its polished exterior gleaming faintly under the sunlight.
She approached the chest and opened it, revealing its contents: four weapons—an elegant pair of pistols, a sleek katana, and a massive, one-edged greatsword. Each weapon seemed to radiate a distinct aura, as if imbued with its own story and power.
The katana stood out with its elongated blade, slightly longer than standard, featuring a straight, polished edge that gleamed like a mirror. The hilt was expertly wrapped in white leather with intricate diamond patterns, providing both beauty and a firm grip. Its handguard was a work of art, octagonal in shape with gold and deep navy-blue accents, adorned with trapezoidal motifs and gold dot patterns. A white cord tied around the scabbard added a finishing touch to its sleek black finish, which was further embellished with delicate gold ornaments at its tip.
Beside the katana lay the greatsword, a weapon that exuded raw power and ferocity. The sword was immense, its blade long and slightly curved with a single edge, forged from dark metallic gray steel that seemed to shimmer ominously in the light. The hilt was wrapped in a sturdy black and red leather material, designed for a firm, reliable grip during high-impact combat. Fiery etchings adorned the sides of the hilt, accentuating its bold design.
What truly set the greatsword apart was its mechanical feature—a built-in ignition system that resembled the throttle of a motorcycle. The hilt was designed to be revved, giving the impression that the blade could unleash bursts of fiery energy with each ignition. It was a weapon of overwhelming strength and primal flair, perfectly suited for unleashing chaos on the battlefield.
Erza gestured to the chest with a proud smile. "I promised you I'd help you find weapons worthy of you, so I called in some favors," she began. "First, I sourced some incredibly rare metals. Gajeel used his magic to refine them, removing every impurity. Then I had you infuse the lacrima I provided with your magic to ensure compatibility. Afterward, I sent everything to an enchanter who specialized in enhancing weapons. They added runes and enchantments to harmonize the metals with your unique energy."
She paused, letting her words sink in, before continuing. "Finally, I took it all to the best blacksmith I know—the same one who crafts my armors and weapons. According to him, these weapons are unlike anything he's ever made. The combination of pure, enchanted metal and lacrima has created weapons that are as unique as their future wielder." She nodded toward Natsu with a gleam of pride in her eyes.
Erza knelt by the chest and began explaining each weapon. "The pistols, Ebony and Ivory, have a lacrima-based system. They don't require reloading because the lacrima generates bullets directly from the magic you channel into them. The stronger your magic, the more powerful the bullets become."
She picked up the massive sword, its blade gleaming ominously. "This is Queen. It was specifically designed to work with your Fire Magic. It's meant for wide, devastating strikes. The rev system isn't just for show—it lets you overcharge the fire you channel into the blade, amplifying its destructive power exponentially."
Finally, she placed her hand reverently on the katana. "And this… This is truly special. Most of the rare metal was used to forge it. The material is renowned for something called a Soul-Bond. Some of the most legendary weapons in history were made from this same metal. Once bonded to your soul, this katana has the potential to mimic and amplify your true inner power. It's said that wielders of such weapons have even unlocked entirely new types of magic over time."
Her voice softened as she looked at him. "These weapons were made for you, Natsu. They'll grow with you, just as you grow stronger. I believe they'll be perfect companions for your journey ahead."
Natsu knelt by the chest, his fingers lightly brushing the polished scabbard of the katana. "This katana... What is its name?" he asked, his tone both curious and reverent.
Erza's expression softened, and she shook her head slightly. "It wasn't given a name. You'll discover its true name when it awakens—when it bonds with you."
Natsu chuckled, picking up the sword and examining its intricate craftsmanship. "Did you ask for it to be a katana? Or was that the smith's idea?"
A small smile tugged at Erza's lips as she crossed her arms. "I did. Your name, Natsu, means 'summer' in Japanese. I thought it would be fitting for you to wield a Japanese sword—a piece of your identity reflected in your weapon. It felt… meaningful."
Natsu turned the katana in his hands, the polished blade catching the light as he admired its beauty. He glanced at Erza, his grin softer than usual. "You're something else, you know that? Always putting so much thought into everything."
Erza chuckled, her cheeks faintly flushed. "Well, someone has to look out for you. Besides," she added with a teasing glint in her eye, "I couldn't let you run around with just any old weapon."
Natsu held the katana with a newfound sense of respect, the weight of Erza's words settling in. He gave her a playful wink. "Guess I'm lucky to have someone like you watching my back."
Erza's smile softened, her gaze flickering between the sword and Natsu. "You're welcome. But don't forget, Natsu, these weapons are an extension of you now. They'll grow with you as you continue to grow."
Natsu nodded, a more serious expression crossing his face. "I won't forget." He paused for a moment, feeling the weight of the katana in his hands, the connection starting to settle within him.
Erza's voice brought him back to the present, her teasing tone returning. "And you better not forget about our training, either. This katana's powerful, but only if you know how to wield it properly."
Natsu grinned, his usual fiery determination lighting up his eyes. "Don't worry, I've got this. I'll make sure I'm worthy of it." He raised the katana slightly, as if saluting Erza, a mix of gratitude and playfulness in his stance.
Erza's eyes softened, and she gave him a small nod of approval. "I know you will, Natsu. I'm just making sure you're prepared for anything."
Natsu rubbed the back of his neck, his usual grin returning. "Well, now I feel bad. I don't have a gift for you."
Erza smiled gently, her gaze holding a tenderness he wasn't used to. "You've already given me more than you know," she whispered, her voice soft but sincere.
Natsu blinked, surprised by the depth of her words, but he didn't press further. Instead, he let the moment pass, offering her a smile in return.
"C'mon," Erza said, her playful energy returning. "I'll show you the basics, then we're heading to my dorm. You'll be sneaking in, you lucky Dragon," she teased, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "After that, we'll grab a shower, then hit the guild. Sounds good, darling?"
Natsu chuckled, his usual fiery spirit flaring up. "Sounds perfect, Erza."
They both made their way through the grounds, the air light between them as they enjoyed the walk. The journey to Erza's dorm was filled with easy conversation, playful teasing, and a comfortable sense of closeness.
As they arrived at her dorm, Erza unlocked the door and stepped inside, gesturing for Natsu to follow. The room was neat and well-organized, with a warm, inviting atmosphere. There were soft, elegant touches to the décor, but nothing that screamed excessive. It felt like a space that reflected both strength and grace—much like the woman who lived there.
Natsu stepped inside, looking around with mild curiosity. "Nice place," he remarked casually.
Erza gave him a sly smile. "I don't usually have company, so it's pretty private." She walked over to a small closet and pulled out a fresh set of clothes, then handed them to Natsu. "These should fit you. I'd offer you my own clothes, but we both know that's not gonna work."
Natsu chuckled, taking the clothes from her. "I'll make do." He hesitated, then added with a playful grin, "So, you've got a shower in here, huh?"
Erza offered a teasing smile, "How about we save some time by taking a bath together? Like back when we were kids?"
Natsu matched her smile, "How bold of you, but i don't mind, are you sure a bath is all you want?"
Erza's teasing smile widened as she crossed her arms, leaning slightly toward Natsu. "You always take things a bit too far, don't you?" she said, her voice low but playful. "Let's just stick to a bath for now, alright?"
Natsu raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "A bath it is then," he agreed, giving a mock salute. "But if you change your mind, you know where to find me."
Erza shook her head with a chuckle, walking towards the bathroom. "You never change," she muttered affectionately.
As Natsu followed her inside, the mood was light and comfortable, the teasing banter between them settling into an easy camaraderie. The bathroom was spacious, with a large bathtub that could easily accommodate both of them, though they'd both need to get a little creative with the space.
Erza started the water running, adjusting the temperature with practiced ease. "It's been a while since we did something like this," she remarked, glancing at Natsu over her shoulder. "It's nice, though. Feels like old times."
Natsu leaned against the doorframe, folding his arms across his chest. "Yeah, it does. It's just… comfortable, you know? No pressure, just us."
She nodded, a small smile forming on her lips. "Exactly. Sometimes it's nice to just relax and forget everything else."
They both fell into a quiet moment, the sound of the running water filling the space between them. It was moments like these, when the world felt still, that reminded them how far they'd come, but also how much they still enjoyed each other's company.
"So," Natsu broke the silence, stepping forward, "this bath thing? You getting in first, or me?"
Erza smirked, giving him a playful glance. "You can go ahead. I'll join in a minute."
Natsu grinned and slipped into the tub, the warm water quickly enveloping him. Erza soon followed with a slight blush on her face.
Natsu turned to look away but Erza put a soft hand on his cheek, "No, it's okay I don't mind."
Natsu paused, his gaze flickering back to Erza, who was looking at him with a soft, reassuring smile. A slight flush crept onto his own face, though he tried to play it cool. "I guess we're both past the point of being shy?" he muttered, his usual bravado hiding the slight nerves that tingled in him.
Erza gave a gentle laugh, her thumb brushing against his cheek. "We've shared much worse, Natsu. This is nothing," she said with a teasing glint in her eyes, but there was a warmth in her voice, something genuine that made Natsu relax just a little more.
"Yeah, guess you're right," Natsu replied with a small chuckle, his confidence growing. He leaned back in the tub, feeling the warmth soak into his muscles as the quiet settled back over them.
Erza lowered herself into the bath, her movements graceful as she adjusted to the water, letting it ease away the day's tension. She looked over at Natsu, her expression softening. "You know I care about you?"
Natsu raised his eyebrow, "Yeah? Where did that come from?"
"You mean a lot to me."
"You do too, Erza."
Erza blushed, "I love you," she said quickly with a blush.
Natsu chuckled, he took her hand in his softly and kissed it, "I love you too."
Erza looked at him for a moment, her bluh still on, she took a deep breath and leaned in, capturing his lips.
The kiss was gentle at first, a soft meeting of lips that held all the unspoken words between them. It was a quiet moment, but it was filled with everything they had shared—the battles, the laughter, the warmth of companionship.
Erza's heart raced, her blush deepening as she pulled back slightly, her forehead resting against his. "I've wanted to say that for a while," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
Natsu smiled, his thumb gently brushing over her hand. "I know," he said quietly, his eyes soft. "I've been waiting for you to say it."
Erza smiled, "Natsu, let's - let's try the next thing." she whispered softly.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." she looked at him and kissed him again, "Show me."
They looked in each other's eyes for a moment for cloning in another kiss, this time more passionate, their hands beginning to trail around each other. Natsu rose up, Erza in his arms, slowly they exited the Bathroom and entered Erza's Bedroom where they fell on the bed, never separating.
As they entered the bedroom, the world outside seemed to disappear. The room was filled with the soft, intimate glow of the evening light, casting gentle shadows on the walls. Natsu's hands never left Erza, as if the very thought of being apart from her was unthinkable.
Erza's heart pounded in her chest as she pulled him closer, her fingers threading through his hair, feeling the warmth of his skin under her touch. There was no hesitation now, no more doubts—just the certainty that they were exactly where they were meant to be.
Natsu, too, was lost in the moment, his lips trailing down her neck, his touch reverent yet filled with the same fierce passion that had defined every fight, every challenge they had faced together. As he looked at her, he could see how much she meant to him, and in that moment, nothing else mattered.
Their breaths became quicker, more urgent, as the world outside faded even further into the background. Each kiss, each touch, was a silent confession of everything they had kept hidden for so long. The space between them seemed to shrink with every passing second, until there was no space at all, only the deep connection they shared.
Erza's heart raced as Natsu's hands traced the curves of her body, his touch gentle yet filled with an unmistakable intensity. She shivered under his touch, her own hands exploring the strong, familiar lines of his muscles. She felt a sense of security and desire, knowing that this moment, this bond, was theirs alone.
"Natsu," she whispered, her voice barely audible, "I've never felt anything like this before."
He paused for a moment, lifting his head to meet her eyes, his expression soft but filled with an emotion that mirrored hers. "I haven't either," he replied quietly, his voice thick with meaning. "But it feels right, doesn't it?"
Erza smiled, a sense of peace washing over her as she nodded. "It does," she breathed out, and before she could say more, Natsu captured her lips once again, sealing their unspoken agreement.
There was no turning back now, no need for words. They were no longer the same people who had fought side by side; they were more, something deeper, something far more beautiful.
As they lay together, wrapped in each other's embrace, the world outside didn't matter. Only the warmth between them, the feeling of love and trust, held any meaning now. This moment was theirs, and it would be etched in their hearts forever.
A few hours later, the soft moonlight filtered through the windows, casting a gentle glow across the room. The atmosphere was calm, a stark contrast to the intensity of the earlier moments. Erza and Natsu lay side by side in the bed, the covers tangled around them as they found comfort in each other's presence.
Erza's head rested on Natsu's chest, her breath slow and steady as she listened to the rhythmic beat of his heart. His arm was wrapped around her, pulling her close as if he never wanted to let go. The air between them felt light, peaceful, filled with an unspoken understanding.
Natsu absentmindedly stroked her hair, his gaze drifting to the ceiling as his mind wandered, reflecting on the events of the day. After a moment, he smiled softly, breaking the silence. "We didn't make it to the guild," he remarked with a light chuckle.
"Mhm," Erza murmured, her voice content. "It was worth it."
She shifted slightly to face him, her eyes meeting him with a gentle smile. "We'll go tomorrow when we wake up."
Natsu's grin widened, a playful glint in his eyes. "Does that mean I can stay the night?"
Erza's smile turned teasing, her voice soft but firm. "You're delusional if you think I'm letting you leave after this. You're mine now. Take responsibility."
Natsu laughed softly, the sound warm and sincere. "Well, if I've charmed the Great Titania, I guess I'm lucky. Not many can say that."
Erza's fingers traced the lines of his jaw gently, her smile softening as her gaze held a mixture of affection and sincerity. "You're not just lucky, Natsu. You've earned it."
"Earned it, huh?" Natsu raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. "Guess I'll just have to keep earning it, won't I?"
Erza chuckled, the sound light and teasing. "You're not going anywhere, Natsu. I'll make sure of that."
Natsu pulled her closer, his voice low and playful. "Good, because I'm not planning on leaving either."
For a moment, they simply looked at each other, the comfortable silence speaking volumes. No more words were needed; they both understood what was unspoken.
Next Day at the Guild
The next day, the guild was bustling with its usual energy—members chatting, laughter echoing, and the occasional clink of mugs as drinks were shared. The large wooden doors creaked open, and all eyes turned briefly as Natsu and Erza walked in hand in hand, smiles lighting up their faces.
A few of the guild members raised eyebrows or exchanged knowing smirks, while others grinned at the sight of the pair. Whispers started to spread, but neither Natsu nor Erza paid them any mind.
When they reached the bar, Erza turned to Natsu, her expression softening. Leaning in, she pressed a quick kiss to his cheek. "See you in a bit, darling," she said with a smile, her voice warm.
Natsu chuckled, scratching the back of his head as a faint blush dusted his cheeks. "Yeah, I'll catch up with you later." With that, he headed toward a different part of the hall, casually waving to a few guildmates as he passed.
Erza slid onto a stool at the bar, nodding in greeting to Mira. The barmaid raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "Well, well, Erza. Someone looks particularly radiant today. Anything you'd like to share?"
Erza sipped her tea, a small smile tugging at her lips. "No need to gossip, Mira. Let's just say... it's been a good couple of days."
Mira chuckled, leaning on the counter. "If you say so, but you know you're just fueling the rumors, right?"
Erza shrugged, unfazed. "Let them talk. I have nothing to hide."
Across the hall, Natsu made his way to a table where Gray, Gajeel, Laxus, and Gildarts were seated. The moment he sat down, all four of them turned their attention to him, wearing expressions that ranged from sly smirks to outright grins.
"You got laid," Gildarts said bluntly, his tone filled with amusement as he leaned back in his chair, a dumb smile plastered on his face.
Natsu's grin widened, and he leaned back casually, crossing his arms. "Perhaps~" he replied in a playful tone, his voice deliberately ambiguous.
Gray groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Seriously, flame brain? You can't even deny it properly."
Gajeel burst out laughing, slapping the table. "Look at him! He's so smug about it! Never thought I'd see the day you'd pull something like that off."
Laxus raised an eyebrow, a small smirk tugging at his lips. "Gotta say, I didn't think you had it in you, Natsu. Erza, of all people."
Natsu shrugged, his grin still firmly in place. "What can I say? She's the one who fell for me."
Gildarts chuckled, shaking his head with a knowing look. "Kid, you've got guts, I'll give you that. But you better treat her right. That woman's a treasure—and don't forget, she can kick your ass into next week if you screw up."
Natsu's playful grin softened into a more serious expression. He met Gildarts' gaze with a rare sincerity. "I know," he said, his voice steady. "I'll take care of her, don't worry about that. She means too much to me."
The group fell quiet for a moment, the weight of Natsu's words lingering in the air. Even Gray, who was normally quick to tease, gave a subtle nod, acknowledging the sincerity behind his friend's promise.
"Well," Gajeel finally said, breaking the silence as he leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, "at least you're not as dumb as I thought, Salamander. You've got a good thing going—don't mess it up."
Natsu's smirk returned, the serious moment giving way to his usual confidence. "Thanks for the heartwarming support, metalhead. Really touching."
Gajeel scoffed but smirked in return. "Hey, just telling it like it is. And if you screw up, don't expect me to hold back when she's done with you."
Gray snorted. "If he screws up, he won't survive long enough for you to get a shot, Gajeel. Erza's probably already got a dozen ways planned to 'educate' him."
"That's a whole lot of trash talk for someone who has a chick practically screaming at you to date her, Gray. I had no fucking clue about flirting or dating—what's your excuse?" teased Natsu.
"Hey, don't bring Juvia into this!" Gray snapped, his face reddening.
Laxus groaned. "C'mon, Gray, she's an absolute babe! Why are you not doing anything? At least say you won't—someone's gonna swipe her off her feet if you don't."
Gray groaned, rubbing the back of his neck, clearly uncomfortable with the sudden attention. "Look, it's complicated, alright? Not everyone dives headfirst into things like you, Natsu."
Natsu smirked, leaning forward with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Complicated? Sounds like an excuse. You've got a gorgeous girl literally worshipping the ground you walk on, and you're just sitting there. What's the deal, Ice Princess?"
"Don't call me that!" Gray snapped, his face turning redder. "And Juvia's not—she's just... persistent."
Laxus snorted, shaking his head. "Persistent? That's the understatement of the century. She's practically a dream girl, and you're acting like you've got all the time in the world."
"Yeah," Gajeel added with a smirk. "If you're not interested, just say it. At least then she'd stop wasting her time on you."
Gray's jaw tightened, and he glared at the group. "I didn't say I wasn't interested."
"Then what's the hold-up?" Natsu pressed, grinning like he'd just landed a finishing blow. "You scared of her or something?"
Gray scoffed, crossing his arms defensively. "Of course not! I just... don't want to mess things up, okay? Relationships aren't as simple as punching stuff, Natsu."
"Eh, it's actually surprisingly simple once you start. Ask her out, or the next time she asks you, say yes."
Gray frowned, looking away as if mulling over Natsu's words. "You make it sound way too easy."
"That's because it is!" Natsu shot back with a grin. "Seriously, what's the worst that could happen? You think Juvia's gonna say no? She's been waiting forever, man."
Laxus nodded in agreement, his arms crossed. "Natsu's right. Stop overthinking it. The next time she makes a move, just go with it. You'll figure the rest out along the way."
Gajeel smirked, leaning forward. "Yeah, Ice Boy. You keep dragging your feet, and someone else will step in. Maybe me."
Gray's head snapped up, his glare sharp. "Like hell, you will."
"Then do something about it," Gajeel said with a shrug. "Pretty sure she's been dreaming about you since day one."
Gray sighed, rubbing his temples. "Fine, fine. I'll think about it. But if this blows up in my face, I'm blaming all of you."
Natsu laughed, slapping Gray on the back. "That's the spirit! You've got this, Ice Princess."
Gray groaned, shoving Natsu's hand off. "Keep calling me that, and you won't have anything left to ask Erza for help with."
"I would turn you to ash…but then Juvia will cry, so I'll let you off the hook for now. Now, fuck off, you got a date to get."
Gray raised an eyebrow, trying to mask the slight blush creeping up his neck. "Yeah, yeah, whatever, Salamander." He shot Natsu a look before standing up, clearly trying to shake off the teasing.
"Seriously though, don't screw this up," Natsu called after him with a grin. "You're not as clueless as you think. Just... don't overthink it."
Gray gave a half-hearted wave as he walked away, heading toward the exit. "I'll keep that in mind. And don't ever call me 'Ice Princess' again!"
Laxus chuckled, watching Gray leave. "You really know how to get under his skin, huh?"
Natsu leaned back in his chair, grinning. "I mean, it's too easy at this point. But hey, maybe it'll finally push him to do something about it. Besides, Gray deserves a little bit of teasing for once."
Gajeel shook his head, a small smirk on his face. "Yeah, well, I'll believe it when I see it. But if he pulls it off, I'll be impressed."
Natsu shrugged, his grin softening as he thought about the group's latest antics. "Sometimes, the hardest part of a relationship is just taking that first step. But I know Gray will get it together eventually. Hell, if I can figure this out, he sure as hell can."
The group sat in a comfortable silence for a moment, each of them reflecting on the conversation. Natsu leaned back in his chair, watching Gray leave, his smirk still in place.
"Don't be too hard on him," Laxus said with a small chuckle. "He'll get there. It's just Gray being stubborn as usual."
Natsu nodded, his grin fading into a more thoughtful expression. "Yeah, he will. Juvia's been waiting for so long… It's hard to believe he's still dragging his feet." He shook his head. "But that's Gray for you."
Gajeel grunted. "He's not the only one who's stubborn. You and Erza seem to be moving pretty damn fast yourselves."
Natsu's cheeks flushed slightly, though he tried to hide it with a grin. "Eh, well, neither one of us likes to wait."
"Yeah, so you already started fuc—" Laxus began with a smirk.
Natsu's eyes flared. "I will break your ribs, Sparkles."
Laxus grinned wider, his eyes glinting with challenge. "Try me, Flamethrower."
Natsu cracked his knuckles, his grin turning into something more intense. "We do still have that rematch to do."
"Why not now?" Laxus shot back, standing up and cracking his neck. "If you've got the balls, we can settle this right here."
The atmosphere in the guild hall shifted slightly, the tension between Natsu and Laxus crackling in the air like static electricity. The rest of the group exchanged glances, aware of the inevitable clash about to unfold.
"Fine, let's go outside," Laxus said, cracking his knuckles with a smirk.
"Be my guest," Natsu replied, his grin never fading.
Gildarts stood up, raising his voice to rally the guild. "All right, everyone! Get your bets in! Natsu and Laxus are throwing down!"
The guild hall erupted in a mixture of laughter, cheers, and shouts. Several guild members eagerly scrambled to grab their drinks and make their way outside, all eager to witness the showdown.
Natsu cracked his neck and stretched, his grin widening. "This is gonna be fun."
Laxus, standing across from him with a calm, calculated smirk, responded, "You're going down, Salamander."
"Not if I can help it," Natsu shot back as he moved toward the door.
Gray sighed, rubbing his face in disbelief. "Why do they always have to do this?"
"Because they're idiots," Gajeel quipped with a smirk. "But it's gonna be one hell of a fight."
As Natsu and Laxus exited the guild hall, the atmosphere outside was just as charged. A crowd began to gather, including several familiar faces like Wendy and Mira, who had heard the commotion inside and couldn't resist joining the spectacle.
"What's going on?" Erza asked, raising an eyebrow.
Gildarts waved his arm dismissively. "Ah, don't worry, Titania. It's just a friendly fight. Your boyfriend will be fine. You putting a bet in?"
Erza shook her head but glanced over at Natsu, who winked at her. "Yeah, I'll put 500 on Natsu."
"Oh? Lots of faith, huh? Nice," Gildarts chuckled.
Erza crossed her arms, her expression serious as she observed the preparations. Despite her usual stoic demeanor, there was a subtle glimmer of concern in her eyes. "I hope he doesn't go too far," she muttered under her breath.
Gildarts chuckled and took a swig from his mug. "Don't worry, Titania. Natsu might be reckless, but he's got guts. Laxus, too. This is gonna be a good match."
Wendy, who had been watching quietly from the sidelines, shifted nervously. "Do you think Natsu can really beat Laxus, though? Laxus is really strong…"
Gray, who had been listening with crossed arms, chimed in, "Natsu beat Laxus once a few months ago. This is just a rematch. No real stakes this time, though. Laxus actually asked for the rematch a few weeks ago."
Mira nodded in agreement, eyes focused on the two men facing off. "Natsu's not gonna back down easily. He has a way of surprising people."
Erza's gaze never wavered from Natsu as she silently prayed for his safety.
With Natsu and Laxus
Makarov stood between Natsu and Laxus, his arms crossed, his face stern. "All right, brats, listen up. Non-lethal blows, got it?"
"Yeah, sure," Laxus replied, his smirk never fading as he sized up his opponent.
Natsu grinned, his fists already clenched. "Promise he'll live," he added with a wink, clearly enjoying the challenge.
Makarov sighed but gave a small nod. "Good. Don't make me step in." He glanced at both of them, his eyes sharp. "Remember, this is just a spar, not a full-on battle. Keep it clean."
With a final glance at the crowd gathering around, Makarov stepped back, giving the two plenty of space. The air was thick with anticipation as everyone watched Natsu and Laxus prepare for their rematch.
Laxus cracked his knuckles, his eyes locked on Natsu, his smirk turning into something more focused. "You're not gonna make this easy, huh?"
Natsu's grin grew wider, his fiery aura already beginning to flare. "Not a chance, Thunderhead."
The moment the word "go" left Makarov's mouth, the ground beneath their feet seemed to tremble as both Natsu and Laxus launched themselves into action.
"Lighting Dragon's Breakdown Fist!" Laxus roared, his body surrounded by crackling lightning as he hurled his fist toward Natsu.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu bellowed in response, his own fist cloaked in intense flame. The two forces collided in a massive explosion of elemental energy, sending a shockwave that blasted the air and sent debris flying in every direction. Both Dragon Slayers were forced to leap back, avoiding the full brunt of the collision.
"Straight to Dragon Slayer Magic, huh?" Natsu grinned, wiping some dust off his face.
Laxus smirked, his eyes narrowing. "I'll admit, you ain't someone I can afford to hold back against."
Laxus Dreyar - (Dragon Slayer Base Full Power) - 530.690 MPL
Natsu Dragneel - (Dragon Slayer Base Full Power) - 530.500 MPL
"Good, you know that," Natsu shot back with a fiery grin. "Fire Dragon's Roar!"
He exhaled a torrent of flames that shot toward Laxus like a blazing inferno. The attack came faster than Laxus anticipated, and though he managed to sidestep it at the last moment, the heat of the flames singed his hair.
Laxus immediately charged up his own energy, crackling with lightning as he vaulted into the air, preparing for his next move. But Natsu was already upon him, his movements swift and relentless.
In a blur, Natsu shot into the air above Laxus, his left leg raised high. He delivered a crushing downward kick with a roar, his boot making contact with Laxus' shoulder and sending him crashing back into the ground with a thunderous impact.
The crowd watching gasped at the ferocity of the blow, some members of the guild even jumping back in surprise. Laxus grunted, his body skidding along the dirt, but he quickly pushed himself up, his face lighting up with excitement rather than frustration.
"You're not bad, Salamander," Laxus muttered, grinning through the pain. "But I'm not done yet."
Natsu's grin widened, his eyes blazing with the thrill of the fight. "Good. Neither am I."
Laxus cracked his knuckles, his body crackling with more intense lightning than before. "Alright then, let's see how you handle this. Lightning Dragon's Roar!"
A massive blast of lightning shot from Laxus' mouth, the air itself sizzling and crackling as the electric attack streaked toward Natsu. The force behind it was enough to make the ground tremble, and it illuminated the sky for a split second, like a miniature storm.
Natsu grinned, his eyes alight with excitement. "Fire Dragon's Roar!"
He countered with his own roar of flame, the two attacks meeting in mid-air with a thunderous explosion, sending shockwaves in every direction. The ground beneath them cracked and shattered, the force from the collision pushing back anyone who wasn't braced for it.
For a moment, the air was thick with smoke and dust. Natsu and Laxus stood facing each other, their chests heaving as they readied themselves for the next move. Both were visibly unscathed, but the intensity of the fight was clearly escalating.
"Not bad, but I'm just getting started!" Natsu grinned, his body heating up with a fiery aura. He raised his fists, preparing for another assault.
Laxus smirked, his hands sparking with raw energy. "Then let's turn it up a notch."
With a powerful roar, Laxus surged forward, charging with lightning speed. He twisted his body, preparing to slam his fist down on Natsu with a devastating attack. But Natsu was ready. His body was engulfed in flames. With precision and agility, he met Laxus mid-charge, their fists clashing with enough force to rattle the very air around them.
The impact sent another shockwave rippling outward, but this time Natsu didn't hesitate. He followed up with a rapid barrage of flame-infused punches, each blow faster and fiercer than the last.
Laxus struggled to keep up, but his own lightning was a fierce counter, crackling and snapping with every movement as he blocked and retaliated.
"Damn, you really have gotten stronger," Laxus said through clenched teeth, sweat trickling down his face. He used his lightning to push Natsu back, creating a brief opening for a counterattack.
Natsu, unfazed by the pushback, grinned. "Same to you."
With lightning speed, Natsu grabbed Laxus's wrists and yanked him forward, his right leg rising with precision.
"Fire Dragon's Talon!"
Natsu's kick landed squarely in Laxus's stomach, knocking the wind out of him. Without missing a beat, Natsu pivoted, delivering a brutal kick to Laxus's left knee, forcing him to drop to the ground.
As Laxus struggled to regain his balance, Natsu didn't relent. He swiftly followed up with a punishing blow to Laxus's ribs, his foot crashing into the side of his opponent. The impact sent Laxus reeling, but Natsu wasn't done yet.
With a burst of speed, Natsu jumped high into the air, spinning as he came down with a double kick aimed directly at Laxus's face. The force of the attack sent Laxus flying back, his head snapping to the side as he crashed to the ground.
Natsu landed smoothly a few feet away, flipping back to regain his stance.
Laxus lay on the ground for a moment, disoriented, as he wiped the blood from his mouth.
"God... fucking damn it," Laxus groaned, clutching his ribs as he slowly pushed himself up. "That was nasty."
Laxus took a deep breath, his expression hardening as the blood trickled from his lip. The fight was far from over, and he wasn't about to let Natsu have the last word.
"You're damn lucky you hit me first," Laxus muttered, his voice low but filled with a growing intensity. "Because now, I'm pissed."
Electricity crackled around him, the air sparking with energy as Laxus stood tall, his body surging with lightning magic. He raised his arms, gathering power for a devastating counterattack.
Natsu grinned, unfazed by Laxus's sudden surge of power. He dropped into a low stance, prepared to respond.
"Bring it, sparkles."
With a roar, Laxus slammed his hands to the ground. Lighting exploded from his from and surged towards Natsu.
"Oh shit-" the lighting struck Natsu, and sent him flying back.
Natsu stopped himself, he looked up and saw Laxus was already a few meters away his fist charged with Lighting.
Natsu punched the ground, "Fire Dragon's Pillar!"
A Pillar exploded from the ground enveloping both Mages, its size was that of an entire house.
The pillar of flame erupted from the ground with a deafening roar, engulfing both Natsu and Laxus in a sea of fire. The heat radiated out in all directions, forcing the onlookers to shield their eyes from the blinding light.
Laxus gritted his teeth, his body crackling with electricity as he used his magic to propel himself out of the fire's range, landing a few meters away with a smirk. He quickly shook off the heat and the impact.
"Impressive," Laxus called out, his voice tinged with respect as he flicked a stray strand of hair out of his eyes. "But it's gonna take more than that."
Natsu stood within the flaming pillar, unfazed by the heat that surrounded him. His eyes burned with determination, and a grin spread across his face as he stepped out of the pillar, flames licking off his skin. "You're right, Laxus. I'm not done yet."
The air around Natsu seemed to shimmer as the flames from his body intensified, roaring like a wild beast.
Natsu shouted, he pointed his flame-covered arms towards Laxus, "Fire Dragon's Ember Barrage!"
A barrage of smaller, concentrated fireballs is launched rapidly toward Laxus. Each impact causes a small explosion.
Laxus gritted his teeth doing his best to dodge or block the fast fireballs. "That's a new spell." he taught as he grit his teeth.
Natsu's fiery barrage lit up the air, the smaller fireballs streaking toward Laxus with incredible speed. Each explosion sent plumes of smoke and ash into the air as they hit the ground around Laxus. His reflexes were quick, but the sheer number of blasts made it nearly impossible to dodge them all.
"Damn it!" Laxus growled, weaving through the barrage, his body crackling with electricity as he blocked and dodged the explosions. His clothes singed, but his lightning-infused aura kept most of the fire from fully reaching him.
"You think I'm just going to sit here and take it?" Laxus shouted, his eyes flashing as he gathered power in his hands.
Natsu's grin widened, a dangerous gleam in his eyes. "I don't need you to sit still, Laxus. I'm just warming up!"
With a roar, Natsu hurled another wave of fireballs, but this time he wasn't just aiming for Laxus. He aimed the fireballs to create a wall of flames around him, cornering Laxus. Each explosion echoed like a cannonshot, making the entire area shake as the heat intensified.
Laxus smirked, his arms charged with raw electricity. "You're getting reckless now, Salamander."
With a sudden movement, Laxus thrust both hands forward. "Lightning Dragon's Judgment!" He unleashed a massive blast of lightning that surged through the air like a raging storm, crashing into the barrage of fireballs, causing them to erupt in a shower of sparks and smoke.
The force of the explosion sent a shockwave through the ground, forcing both mages to skid back. Natsu, his body covered in burns, stood his ground, his flames flickering as his grin never faltered.
The heat from the battle was intense, the air thick with the smell of smoke and the crackle of lingering magic. Both Natsu and Laxus stood facing each other in the now-devastated Fairy Tail training ground, the artificial forest behind them reduced to smoldering wreckage. Trees were charred, their trunks blackened and cracked from the earlier blasts. The once lush green of the forest now lay in ruins, a testament to the destructive power of their fight.
Natsu's body was singed, his clothes tattered, but his grin remained, a fiery determination burning in his eyes. His muscles were sore from the relentless barrage of attacks, but he didn't care. "You're getting good at this, Laxus," he said, his voice rough from the exertion. "But you're still not getting rid of me that easy."
Laxus, though equally battered, was no less determined. His usually confident demeanor had shifted to a focused intensity. His hair crackled with electricity as the storm-like energy around him surged. "You think I'm going easy on you, Natsu? You're just a little too stubborn for your own good," he shot back, his eyes locked onto Natsu as he prepared for the next move.
The ground beneath their feet trembled as Laxus unleashed another surge of lightning, striking the earth with the force of a thunderclap. The bolts of electricity shot through the air toward Natsu, splitting the sky with their intensity.
But Natsu was ready. He raised his hands, flames spiraling around them.
"Fire Dragon's Nova!" He sent a high speed concentrated orb of fire, identical to his Ember Barrage spell, yet vastly superior.
The two forces collided in mid-air, fire and lightning clashing in an explosion of raw energy. The shockwave sent debris flying, tearing up the earth around them, and leaving both mages momentarily suspended in the aftermath of their attacks.
Natsu, fueled by sheer will, used the moment to launch himself at Laxus, his flames intensifying, transforming into a blazing inferno that swirled around him like a cyclone.
The explosion of fire and lightning slowly faded, leaving a thick haze of smoke and dust in the air. The ground around them was cracked and scorched, with the remnants of the battle etched deep into the landscape. Natsu, covered in burns and sweat, stood tall, his flames still dancing around him like a living thing. Laxus, equally battered, his lightning-infused aura flickering, narrowed his eyes, preparing for the final exchange.
"Not bad, Salamander," Laxus grinned, though the strain in his voice was evident. "But you're going to need more than that to take me down."
Natsu's eyes burned with fierce determination, his body exhausted but his resolve unwavering. The air around him crackled with heat as his magic surged, flames curling around him like a living thing. "This is it, Laxus," Natsu said, his voice low, yet filled with raw power. "You asked for it."
Natsu dropped into a battle stance, his hands pressed to the ground as his right leg stepped forward, his left leg planted firmly behind him. A surge of heat erupted from his body, the fire enveloping him like a shield as his magic power spiked. The temperature soared, the very air bending under the intensity of his flames.
Laxus, eyes narrowing in recognition of Natsu's rising power, took a step back, a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Oh, we're doing this now," he growled, lightning sparking wildly around him as he prepared for his final attack.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Thunder Calling – Raging Bolt!" Laxus shouted, raising his arms high. A massive bolt of lightning crackled above his head, surging with energy that tore through the air. He hurled it toward Natsu with deadly precision, the bolt crackling with enough force to level the battlefield.
Natsu stood calm, heat radiating from his body as he watched the bolt close in. He inhaled deeply, his flames swirling around him. "Gather…" he murmured, his flames suddenly intensifying, turning crimson as they gathered around him like a coiled serpent ready to strike. "Flow!" The fire condensed, swirling into the form of a massive, serpentine dragon made entirely of flames.
With a roar, Natsu dashed forward with blinding speed, the dragon following him in a trail of blazing fire. "Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Blood Star – Crimson Night!" he shouted, his voice filled with fury.
In the blink of an eye, the Serpentine Dragon tore through the raging bolt of lightning with ease, the explosion of fire and lightning lighting up the battlefield. Natsu surged forward, his speed unmatched as he closed the gap between himself and Laxus. In less than a heartbeat, the serpentine dragon's jaws were snapping at Laxus, and Natsu's leg shot forward, aimed at Laxus's chest.
Laxus had no time to dodge. With lightning crackling around him, he crossed his arms in front of himself, coating his body in an electrical barrier, determined to block the incoming attack.
Natsu's kick connected with Laxus's chest, the force sending him rocketing backward through the remains of the training ground. The serpentine dragon followed, its fiery jaws snapping around Laxus's form before vanishing in a burst of heat. Laxus was thrown through the wreckage of the battlefield, crashing into the ground with a deafening thud.
Natsu appeared above him in a flash, his foot planted firmly on Laxus's chest. His flames roared around him, but his gaze was steady, unwavering.
"Still standing?" Natsu asked, breathless but grinning.
Laxus groaned, pinned beneath Natsu's foot, his body trembling with exhaustion, but a smirk tugged at the corners of his lips. "Damn, Natsu... You never disappoint," he rasped, his breath coming in heavy gasps.
The ground around them was scorched, the air thick with the scent of burned earth and the lingering crackle of magic. The remnants of the battle lay in ruin, the once vibrant training ground reduced to smoldering debris.
Natsu stood over him, sweat dripping down his face, but his grin never wavered. "Yeah, I try not to."
Laxus chuckled weakly, his chest rising and falling with each breath. "You get this one… Fuck, I'm gonna need a drink," he muttered, his voice laced with exhaustion.
Natsu's grin softened slightly as he offered a hand to Laxus, helping him up. "You've earned it, jackass."
Laxus took his hand with a grunt, pulling himself to his feet. Despite his injuries, his usual cocky attitude remained, though now there was an underlying respect in his eyes. "Next time, I'll make sure you're the one needing a drink."
Natsu laughed, clapping him on the back. "Looking forward to it."
As the two of them shared a moment of camaraderie, the crowd that had gathered began to cheer and clap, the tension that had built during the fight now dissipating in the aftermath.
The guild members stood in stunned silence, their eyes still wide from the intensity of Natsu and Laxus's battle. The power, the speed—everything about it had been beyond anything they had expected. But now, with the fight winding down, the chatter started to build, as the guildmates tried to process what they'd just witnessed.
Erza watched the exchange between Natsu and Laxus with a smug smile, pride swelling in her chest. She had always known Natsu had more in him than anyone realized. The way his power had grown—it was nothing short of exhilarating. And the best part? He wasn't finished yet.
"Someone's looking a little too happy," Mira teased, glancing at Erza with a knowing grin.
Erza's smile deepened. "Natsu grows by leaps and bounds, and he's nowhere near done."
Gray ran a hand through his hair, still trying to comprehend the battle. "God damn. What was that last spell? It broke through Laxus's strongest attack like it was nothing."
Erza stood a little straighter. "That was one of Natsu's Secret Arts—'Blood Star: Crimson Night.' It's a devastating spell, combining the power of 'Sword Horn' and 'Phoenix Blade.' It draws from a much stronger form of his Fire Dragon Magic. The key is that it adds a burning effect to any type of magic it touches, which is why it tore through Laxus's Raging Bolt so easily."
The guild was buzzing with excitement, conversations overlapping as they all tried to wrap their minds around what they had just seen.
"That was insane," Lucy said, still wide-eyed, her voice filled with awe. "Natsu's really outdone himself this time."
"I thought Laxus had the upper hand when he hit Natsu with that Lightning Dragon's Judgment," Wendy said, still gripping the railing nervously. "But Natsu just countered it like it was nothing! It's like he was waiting for that moment."
"Well, it's Natsu," Gray muttered, still recovering from the shock. "But seriously, I didn't expect him to have something like that in his arsenal. What the hell is 'Crimson Night'?"
Mira chuckled at Gray's confusion, her tone teasing. "You should be proud, Gray. That wasn't just raw power. It was precision and control. Natsu's magic isn't just destructive—it's evolving. But yeah, it's Natsu. Always the wild card."
"That's Natsu for you," Erza said, a proud grin spreading across her face as she leaned casually against a pillar. "Every time he fights, he surprises us with something new. But he's not finished yet. He's still got more to show."
The guildmates exchanged glances, nodding in agreement.
"His Fire Dragon magic is just… insane," Lucy said, clasping her hands together in excitement. "It makes sense now. Natsu didn't just overpower Laxus. He figured out how to break through Laxus's strongest attack."
"I feel like we've barely scratched the surface of his potential," Gray said, rubbing his face as if trying to shake off the lingering awe. "He's more dangerous than ever."
"I think we're all lucky that's our Natsu," Mira said, grinning. "Well, more like Erza's Natsu. I don't think any of us could handle that much power flying around."
Erza chuckled at Mira's playful jab, her arms crossed as she leaned back against the pillar. "I've always known he had this potential. It was just a matter of him unlocking it. But seeing it in action… it's exhilarating."
"Exhilarating, huh?" Wendy asked with a warm smile, still processing the magnitude of the fight. "I'm just glad Natsu's okay. That was one wild ride."
Gray nodded, still shaking his head in disbelief. "I never thought I'd see the day when Natsu could pull off something that… calculated. That 'Crimson Night' spell was different. He's evolving, that's for sure."
"He's always evolving," Lucy said, her gaze following Natsu as he and Laxus joked around, the tension from the fight now dissipating. "It's like he never stops pushing himself. It's kind of inspiring."
Gajeel, leaning against the wall with his usual gruff demeanor, grunted. "As much as I hate to admit it, Natsu's got guts. That's what makes him dangerous."
Levy, her smile bright and full of admiration, added, "And don't forget his fire. That raw power—it's insane. I can't even imagine what kind of magic he's going to unlock next."
Erza smirked. "Whatever it is, we'll all be here to see it. And I'm certain it'll be even more impressive than what we just witnessed."
Mira's eyes sparkled mischievously. "I'm just glad we're on his side. I'd hate to be the one facing him in battle."
Lucy giggled. "I don't think anyone wants to face Natsu now."
The guildmates shared a hearty laugh, the tension from the battle finally lifting. They had just witnessed something incredible, and while they all knew Natsu's journey was far from over, it was clear that the Natsu who had first joined the guild all those years ago was gone. This Natsu was stronger, smarter, and more dangerous than ever before. And they couldn't wait to see just how far he'd go.
