Saber went at Mikoto, intending to run him through with Clarent, when she suddenly expelled a mouthful of blood. A little ways away was Lancer, having just impaled himself through the chest and spirit core with Gáe Bolg.

The female knight turned her glare to him. "Bastard..!" She knew that he managed to curse her, linking their bodies. When did he..? She then realized he must have laid down the runes while he was straddling her and activated them just now. A last-ditch move to save his Master since it would mean he couldn't claim the Holy Grail for him.

Lancer pulled his weapon out, twisting the blade of his spear as it was in his chest and making even more crimson spill from him and Saber.

He recovered from doing that to himself and seemed to suddenly appear directly behind the swordsman, one arm wrapped over and pressing against her throat to keep her from suddenly slipping away. His other jammed his spear through her lower chest, it coming out Lancer's back. Spikes burst from both of them around where Gáe Bolg was in flesh, holding them together. The "barbed spear" part was on full grotesque display.

Lancer let out a laugh, blood bubbling in his throat. "Looks like you're stuck with me until I die, and I have a feelin' I'll outlast ya!" Even while dying, even when enduring unbearable pain, he didn't lose that amused tone in his voice. Because of Gáe Bolg being spiritual Saber couldn't phase through it.

His runes gave himself the A-ranked Battle Continuation he has in his older form. He remembered Mikoto telepathically telling him earlier in the battle that he could see this Servant has a B-rank in that skill now that she doesn't have her Secret of Pedigree Noble Phantasm on.

Even if dead, Saber would never say aloud that she enjoyed being pressed up to Lancer. Still, she leaned her head back against the spearman, a gentle smile on her face. If she was a cat she'd be purring. Unconsciously, the Red Servant's arms wrapped around the chest of the female knight.

Saber's body eventually broke down into a dust of blue mana, leaving Lancer as the only Servant in the cavern. His weapon dematerialized in a breath of red mana and Mikoto caught the warrior as he fell forward and rest him on his lap. At this point he could no longer feel his limbs. The fact he was able to remain standing this long despite receiving wounds severe enough to kill a human several times is unbelievable, his curse still eating him alive from the inside. More blood from him than a human can lose and still be alive was on the ground.

Lancer's lungs are gone at this point but his own magical energy cycle carried out the pulmonary respiration he needed to talk. "Sorry this happened at the Greater Grail."

Mikoto shook his head. "I don't currently give a shit. Anythin' I can do to help ya?"

A laugh from the spearman cut off by a wet cough. "I'd like to say yes but I stabbed myself in the spirit core with Gáe Bolg. In that case it's completely unhealable." He turned his head to the side and proceeded to vomit blood on the ground. It looked like bits of his stomach and intestines were mixed in. He was in a world of agony and yet managed to not show any discomfort. "'m still alive now 'cause of Battle Continuation but that'll end soon. You'd better hurry 'n get outta here 'fore other enemies show up."

Mikoto knew that there'd be no point in protesting. He could sense that Lancer won't last much longer. Instead, he stiffly replied "Alright."

A smile was on the Servant's lips even as his body began dissolving into blue mana. "I'm glad even someone as stubborn as you can listen to life-savin' advice."

- Bad end
