Hey! It's me Cylob here!
Oops. I let my emotions get out of control yesterday. Teehee.
I'm pretty sure that's fine though.
The only problem might be the fact that Crusch may have changed due to that 'talk', so let's hope that her interactions with Kenichi's son will stay the same.
I'm pretty sure that the only person that still doesn't trust me is Felix.
And I can't blame him. I mean c'mon. I'm a literal freak of nature. I've got NO organs. How can you trust someone like that?
I mean I can even use predator and thought acceleration. Yep, you heard it right. I can use both.
Unfortunately they're much weaker than Rimuru's versions, and when I use them it either hurts a lot or I use up a lot of Mana, but each time I use them I get better at them, so I just gotta spam them until I can get used to them.
On that note tho, my predator seems pretty weird. I mean I do get better at it the more I use it, but it seems... different sometimes. I dunno, it's weird. Guess I gotta try to do some research about that.
I wonder if Rimuru would've had the same problems if he didn't have Great Sage... Oh well, no use thinking about it.
Anyway let's get to the real stuff.
And mainly:
WHY ARE THERE NO CHAPTERS WITH MY PERSPECTIVE?!
I mean I'm the godda- oddamn MC!
The only times I can say anything are these little tidbits at the start! It's so little!
Like, what the H-E-double hockey sticks?!
AND DON'T YOU DARE CU-
.▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓.
It should have been two days since Crusch-sama got the information from the spy, but she hadn't told me anything at all, so I decided to approach her instead.
*knock* *knock*
Crusch: "Come in."
I open the door and come in.
Crusch: "Ah, it's you Ferris. What do you want?"
Felix: "I want to knyow about Cylob."
Crusch: "I also have a lot I want to know about him, but I'm pretty sure I don't have the will to ask him right now. Why don't you go and ask him by yourself?"
Felix: "What do you myean by that?"
Crusch: "I mean exactly what I said. We overestimated Cylob. He's just a 15 year old kid. He can't do much, he said so himself. As far as I can see, we misjudged him, and he is practically incapable of telling lies. So if you want to know more about him, then go ask him, not me."
Felix: "But he-"
Crusch: "Then ask him why." She looked straight into my eyes.
Is he really that harmless?
Felix: "Will he really answer me truthfully?"
Crusch: "From all the time he spoke to me, he only lied two times. The first time was when he introduced himself, I'm sure you remember how that went, and right after telling me the second lie he immediately said that he lied. So unless you push his buttons too much, he'll tell you the truth."
Felix: "...Alright then. I'll go ask him myself."
But just as I was about to walk through the open door I heard Crusch say: "Please go easy on him. He's only 15 after all."
.▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒.
As I was walking to the training grounds where Wilhelm and Cylob were practicing, I couldn't help but think about the last words from Crusch-sama: Please go easy on him. He's only 15 after all.
Was he really just a normal boy? I had to find out.
Luckily for me, Cylob was walking right towards me. It seems like his training session was finished, so he was going to his usual resting place.
Felix: "Cylo-kyun!"
Cylob: "Oh, Ferris. Wazzup?"
Felix: "Well, Cylo-kyun, I have some questions I would like to ask you."
Cylob: "Questions, huh? Are you going somewhere?"
Felix: "Nyo. Why?"
Cylob: "That means that we can talk while we walk. I don't want to just stand here the whole time, ya know?"
Felix: "Mhm, mhm, I agree."
We start walking.
Cylob: "Well what did you wanna ask?"
I put on a serious expression.
Felix: "Why do you keep blocking my checks?"
Cylob: "Wait, you've been doing checks on me?"
Felix: "You didn't knyow?"
Cylob: "...Now that you mention it, I did feel weird when you touched me, was that it?"
Felix: "Probably. Wait, you didn't nyotice until nyow?"
Cylob: "Nope."
Felix: "Did you block it reflexively or maybe...?" I start mumbling to myself of all kinds of possible explanations.
Cylob: "Stop with mumbling, I can't hear you at all! First of all, why do you even think that I blocked it?"
Felix: "...The only thing I felt when I checked you, was your gate and od. I couldn't even feel your heartbeat or blood."
Cylob: "Oh... Well, uuh, that's because I don't have any internal organs."
...
Felix: "What?!"
Cylob: "It's true. I live off of purely mana."
Felix: "You're kidding ,right?! I myean, how are you even walking then?! Even mabeasts have organs, and you don't?!"
How is that possible?! Living, walking, talking, thinking and seeing all with NO internal organs. Just what the hell is up with this kid?!
Cylob: "It's the main quirk of my kind...well, it's just my quick now."
Your kind's quirk?! There's more people like you out of there?!... Wait.
Felix: "Just my quick now, what do you myean by that?"
Cylob: "I'm the last of my kind. So any quirks of my kind are just mine at this point."
So he's the last of his kind... That explains why I've never seen anyone like him.
Felix: "...I'm sorry to hear that."
Cylob: "It's... fine. Did you have any other questions?"
It seems like he doesn't want to talk about his kind, considering how fast he changed the subject.
Felix: "...How dyoes your body work?"
Cylob: "I consist of only one type of cells. These cells work both as muscles and as a brain. I also have superior regeneration compared to normal humans. As I already said, I use mana as my energy source, pretty similar to spirits in a way, so if I run out of mana, I'll stop functioning."
Every single cell can work as both?! Isn't that an extreme advantage over anyone else?!
Felix: "Hmm... Dyo physical attacks even do you any real damage to you thyen?"
Cylob: "I have to spread my mana all throughout my body, so if that part gets damaged or cut off, then I will lose the mana that was there."
Felix: "But you're still extremely hard to kill, aren't you?"
Cylob: "Yes I am."
That's good. I don't want a child to die. I'm glad I followed Crusch-sama's advice, he really is incapable of lying. Of course Crusch-sama would be right, why did I ever doubt her?
Felix: "That's all I wanted to ask. Thanks for the answers Cylo-kyun."
Cylob: "No probs."
I started walking away, but I heard his voice behind me.
Cylob: "Can I ask you a question in return?"
Felix: "Of course." I turn back to him.
Cylob: "How exactly does healing magic work? Will it work on me?"
Felix: "Healing magic speeds up natural regenyeration, so as long as you heal yourself nyaturally, healing magic will work on you as well."
Cylob: "That's good to know. Thanks for the info, Ferris."
Felix: "No problem, Cylo-kyun."
He really is harmless.
.▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓.
Cylob has been making very good progress with both his sword technique and his so called 'thought accelaration'. It's a very simple name, but it works well, as you can immediately understand what it does.
As he relaxes on the ground from his 'almost nonexistent headache' as he said, I sit right next to him.
Wilhelm: "Cylob, may I ask you some personal questions?"
Cylob: "Hehe."
Wilhelm: "What's so funny?"
Cylob: "It's just that I'm getting asked a lot of questions lately. But sure you can, lay it on me."
Wilhelm: "May I ask on with whom you lived?"
Cylob: "I lived with my mom and dad, my brother would also often visit us."
Wilhelm: "May I ask... how they died?"
Cylob: "... My real parents are dead, sure... But the ones I consider my parents right now most likely aren't."
Wilhelm: "...Did you know your real parents?"
Cylob sits up and shakes his head.
Cylob: "Even with my good memory, I don't remember anyone that was the same as me."
Wilhelm: "... How were your parents like?"
Cylob: "If I had to say one thing, then I would say they were old, but that doesn't mean they were bad either. It was more like... they weren't caught up with recent events and such. Due to our age difference, they didn't approve of many things I did, and their main argument was 'I didn't do it and I ended up fine'. But I don't hate them. I can understand their point, so I can't hate them. I'm constantly thinking on how they're probably freaking out over my disappearance, but I can't go back no matter how much I want to, so I just try to push those thoughts aside and focus on more important things."
Wilhelm: "I see..."
He mentioned that he keeps his emotions bottled up, but I'm sure he knows that it's unhealthy, so he'll deal with it on his own, he's smart and strong after all.
Wilhelm: "You mentioned a brother, what was he like?"
Cylob: "My brother was awesome. To be completely honest, I didn't feel safe talking with my parents, but when talking with my brother, I could talk about whatever and however I liked, and I would feel safe. I liked him so much that my attitude reflects his. He was kind and understanding, and wasn't afraid to say the truth even when it hurt. He was extremely cheerful and laid back, but when the situation called for it he could become more serious than most people. And most importantly, he always tried to see things from all perspectives before making a decision."
He didn't talk about his parents much, but he had so much to say about his brother...
Wilhelm: "It seems, you truly liked your brother."
Cylob: "I did." He said with a longing but also happy gaze, while staring at nothing at particular.
...
Cylob: "... Well, that's enough reminiscing, gotta practice more." He said while standing up.
He extended a hand out to me, which I accepted.
We got walked to our regular positions and when we turned around to each other, he said:
Cylob: "Thank you, Wilhelm. For making me remember them." He raised his sword
Wilhelm: "I'm glad that action of mine made you feel better, Cylob." I raised mine in response.
.▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓.
*knock* *knock*
Crusch: "Come in."
The door opens up and I see a familiar golden eyed face.
Crusch: "Cylob... What do you want?"
Cylob: "I'm gonna get straight to the point. I don't know how to read and write, and I want your help with learning how to." Truth.
Crusch: "You don't know how to read and write? How have you not made a mistake during work by now?"
I haven't gotten a single complaint about him messing up. How can you not make a single mistake when you don't know a single letter?
Cylob: "A lot of questions and observations." Truth.
Crusch: "... *sigh* At this point getting surprised would just waste time. Well, what kind of deal did you want to make?"
Cylob: "Perceptive as always Crusch-sama. I wanted to remake our deal where instead of getting trained by Wilhelm, you would instead send one of your maids or maybe someone else to help me study."
Crusch: "It's a good deal and quite easy to illustrate as well. I will also allow you partial access to the library, so you can find some books to read. How does that sound?"
Cylob: "It sounds great. Thank you for listening to this foolish boy's request, Crusch-sama." He said while bowing.
It's kind of funny how he can randomly become so formal like this.
But he's still underselling himself. When will he have good self-esteem?
He started walking out, but just as he put his hand on the handle, he turned his head to me.
Cylob: "Thanks for telling Ferris to go easy on me." And he walked out.
...
Wait... How did he know I told Felix to go easy on him?
.▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓.
I was patrolling as usual when I heard a scream.
I immediately ran to the source of the sound, where I saw a comical scene.
A large man was being pinned to the ground face down, with both of his hands being held behind his back, on one of which a finger was bent in a shape impossible for the human body. The one he was being pinned down by was a little girl, who was triumphitly sitting on the back of the man with a victorious smirk.
?: "May I ask what happened here?"
little girl: "Oh, a knight! Please help me capture this guy! He attacked me out of nowhere, wanting to kill me!"
I do recognize the man, he was one of the people we needed to look out for.
knight: "Of course I'll help you, you don't even need to ask."
.▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒░▒.
After tying up the criminal, I needed to ask the girl some questions.
knight: "Excuse me m-"
little girl: "It's mister, but please just call me Cylob. And yes you can ask me some questions, mister Greatest Knight Julius Juukulius."
I was stunned speechless trying to process the words that the little gir- boy said in less than five seconds.
After taking the necessary time to process the words I immediately responded.
Julius: "Since it seems like you don't want to waste time, let's get to the questioning part. What is your full name?"
Cylob: "Cylob Protsav"
Protsav? I've never heard of that family name.
Julius: "Are you from abroad?"
Cylob: "Yes."
Lugunica's borders are closed right now, so he must have spent some time here, and yet I've never heard of him.
Julius: "Can you please explain exactly what happened?"
Cylob: "Well, I was walking when I wondered into this dark alleyway, then my instincts alerted me, so I ducked. It turned out that this guy attacked me, so I beat him and broke his finger to make sure that he wouldn't resist."
The man is certainly not weak and yet this boy beat him so easily.
Julius: "You're impressive for a child your age, I'm sure you'll grow up to be extremely strong."
Cylob: "I'm not sure abou-"
Then he suddenly slapped himself with his two hands.
Cylob: "You're right. I will become extremely strong. I shouldn't have doubts about myself. Hell, Wilhelm is teaching me, so having doubts about myself is like having doubts about his abilities."
It seems like he has self-esteem issues, but he's working on it, that's good, underestimating yourself is bad. But that's not what has my attention.
Julius: "When you said Wilhelm did you mean Wilhelm van Astrea?"
Cylob: "Yup. I don't even know why myself, but he's taken an interest in me."
Being trained by the Sword Demon is not an easy feat. What's so special about this boy?
Julius: "Are you perhaps interested in becoming a knight? I'm sure you will be a good fit."
Cylob: "Sorry, but no. A knight has to pledge their loyalty to someone or something, and I don't want to be chained down by something like that. I want to explore all around the world and save people all around the world as well."
Julius: "Saving people is a noble goal, I'm sure you'll achieve what you wish to achieve."
Cylob: "Thanks a lot, Juli."
Julius: "Juli?"
Cylob: "Do you not like the nickname? I just give nicknames to people I like and or respect, so if you want me to refer to you as something else then you can just tell me."
What an easy-going kid. I like him.
Julius: "No, I quite like it. Call me whatever you want."
Cylob: "Thanks, Juli."
Julius: "Moving on. How would you like to collect the reward?"
Cylob: "Reward?"
Julius: "Yes, the reward. This criminal has a reward for capturing him."
Cylob: "Can you just give it to me right now?"
Julius: "Unfortunately, no."
Cylob: "Hmm... Would it be possible to send the money to the Karsten residence, where I can collect it later?"
Karsten residence? So he really is in her camp.
Julius: "Of course."
Cylob: "Thanks."
Julius: "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to take the criminal to the guard station. It was a pleasure to meet you Protsav."
I took the criminal with me, but as I was walking away I heard the boy's voice behind me.
Cylob: "Can I tell you something first, before you leave?"
I turn back to him.
Julius: "Of course. What is it?"
Cylob: "I am not with the Karsten camp, I'm just in a deal with them. Tell Anastasia that I said hi to Dona. And tell her that an interesting event will happen in 13 days."
Julius: "I'll try my best to meet your demands."
Cylob: "Thanks."
I start walking to the guard station, not forgetting the criminal of course, but my mind was still preoccupied with the boy, more specifically with his words.
Who is Dona? How did he know that I was worried that he was with the Karsten camp? How did he know I serve Anastasia? And what will happen in 13 days?
But being distracted during work is not knightly behavior, so I decided to think about this after work.
.▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓▒░▒▓.
So, Julius gave me a report about an encounter he had with a kid he met while patrolling.
I was surprised by the kid. He knew exactly what, not only Julius's, but also my concerns were and he immediately denied them, but what I was more worried about was how he knew about Echidna.
I don't know anyone by the name of Dona, but Dona is most likely a nickname for Echidna, and the fact that he knows about her is concerning. He's basically telling me: I know what your weakness is, so don't take me lightly. It could also be used as a card to use against me if we are ever in a negotiation, or in a public setting.
But at the same time, knowing about Echidna means that he has a lot of information, so I'm excited for what's gonna happen in 13 days.
Stiil, this kid is not to be taken lightly, so I'm gonna have to look into him and after him.
Still, Cylob Protsav, huh...
Interesting.
