Chapter 29
The Greatest Battles of All Time

"Hahaha! I'll show you the consequences of crossing my path! While Eggman deals with your other friends, I will be dealing with you personally!" said Dr. Wily from within his "Wily Machine."

"You think you can beat me, villain? The hero always wins!" Laplace said to him.

"Oh well, might as well see what the big deal Doctor Wily is about. Hope Mega Man doesn't mind me thrashing his arch nemesis," said Sonic.

BGM: Dr. Wily Machine (Mega Man 11)

Several missiles shot out from the backside of the Wily Machine, and they made a u-turn to face the direction of the good guys and go after them. As Proto Man and Laplace got ready to do something about those missiles, Sonic jumped at them at a fast speed and began jumping from one missile to another, using them as platforms to get to Dr. Wily.

However, as he was going to land on a missile that one of the closest to Dr. Wily, Laplace fired a shot that destroyed the same missile, causing Sonic to step on empty air instead and tumbled onto the floor. "Hey! I was going to use that!" Sonic said to Laplace after standing back up.

"Sorry about that…" Laplace said to him. She dodged more incoming missiles and destroyed some of them before firing energy blasts from her gun at the Wily Machine, which remained unfazed.

"Haha! It's take more than that to shoot down the Wily Machine! I've spent years fighting Proto Man and therefore upgraded it as I see fit to defend against his plasma shots! You can't hope to beat me so easily!" said Wily with confidence.

"Oh, so you do learn, but that won't be enough!" said Proto Man as he charged up a plasma shot to launch at the Wily Machine, pushing it back through the air a bit. Laplace also charged up her gun and fired at the machine, damaging it even more.

"Grrrr! I'll show you what more I've got!" said Dr. Wily in frustration. "Speed Gear!" Pressing a button, he caused the Wily Machine to speed up its movement and get out of the way so fast that it looks like the whole thing teleported behind Proto Man and Laplace.

"What the?!" said Proto Man in surprise.

"Gotcha!" said Wily as the W emblem on the forehead of the machine glowed and let loose a red beam at the two, blasting them.

Sonic ran at the machine and curled into a ball to ram into it. Dr. Wily was struck once before he tried to move away using Speed Gear, but to his surprise, Sonic was able to see his movements and even catch up to him. "You think you can outrun me in my department?" said Sonic before curling up and attack the machine nonstop various parts of the body with Homing Attack.

He struck with such a force that Wily was bouncing up and down in his seat. "How is something organic able to cause this much damage to metal?!" he said in disbelief. "Now I know what Eggman felt like fighting Shadow!"

Sonic was eventually done attacking him and moved away, while Proto Man and Laplace charged up their firearms and fired at the Wily Machine together, blasting it back through the air and into a wall. The Wily Machine crashed into it hard, and Wily said in anger, "How dare you?! I'll show you!"

He pressed a button that made two large gears fall down from below the machine, and they began rolling towards the good guys while emitting electricity. Laplace dodged the gear coming towards her, and when it came back to her, she didn't have time to get out of the way and instead held up her gun horizontally to block it. The gear grind against her gun but wasn't able to cut through it. She planted her feet firmly against the floor and pushed against the approaching gear, causing sparks to fly.

Meanwhile, Sonic ran around for the gear to chase him, and Proto Man was the only one who wasn't targeted. Seeing that Laplace needs help, he fired at the gear she was struggling against and pushed it to the side. The gear changed it target to Proto Man, who jumped aside to avoid it, but the gear came back for him. "You're annoying, don't you know that?" said Proto Man as a burning blade came out of his arm cannon. "Flame Sword!" Swinging the fire sword at the incoming gear he was able to cut it in two effortlessly and destroyed it.

He then turned to see Sonic still running from the other gear. Switching his weapon Ice Slasher, Proto Man an ice arrow at the gear, instantly causing it to freeze. However, the gear continued to roll along the floor, albeit no longer producing electricity.

Sonic thanked Proto Man before running back to the gear. He curled into a ball and jumped up before hitting it with a homing attack that caused it to flip into the air. Sonic continued to hit it from below multiple times, sending it higher and higher into the air with each hit. He then uncurled in front of it and kicked it at the Wily Machine. The gear was still spinning when it hit the machine, so it grind against the front part of it and pushed the whole thing back into a wall.

"What the?! Nooooo!" cried Wily as he mashed his control panel to do something about the gear.

Proto Man and Laplace used this opportunity to fire from their weapons at him, destroy the Wily Machine.

KABOOOM!

"Yeah! We did it!" exclaimed Laplace. When the explosion died down, Wily was nowhere to be seen at all. "Huh? Where'd he go?"

"Be on your guard. It's likely a fake out," said Proto Man, looking around with awareness.

A laughter was heard echoing through the room, and then Dr. Wily reappeared in the air, riding his Wily Capsule. "You thought you've defeated me? As if I'd fall so easily!" he said.

"Tsk! You're just as persistent as Eggman!" Sonic said to him. "Just give it up already!"

BGM: Last Battle (Mega Man 11)

"You're not making me give up without a fight!" said Dr. Wily before multiple energy balls appeared around him and flew at the good guys. They dodged the shots, but the shots homed in on them unexpectedly, hitting them and knocking them down onto the floor. Dr. Wily laughed as he fired more of the same homing shots at them.

"Oh no you don't!" said Sonic as he sped out of the way. He ran around the room a bit before jumping at Wily to attack him, but the evil scientist disappeared into thin air along with his ride. "What the?!"

"Over here!" said Dr. Wily he reappeared behind Sonic and charged into him, ramming him.

Laplace pointed at Dr. Wily and fired, but the latter warped to another location, above Laplace to be precise, and dropped straight down, pressing her against the floor. Proto Man fired at him afterwards, but he warped to the side of him and charged at him. Acting fast, Proto Man held up his shield to block the charging attack and was pushed back.

He pushed his shield against the Wily Capsule to fly farther back than the latter and then pulled his shield aside to fire a plasma shot at it, blasting it back. Laplace stood back up and fired energy blasts from her gun at the Wily Capsule, followed by Sonic attacking it multiple times with homing attack.

"Gah! You won't get away with this!" said Wily in anger as the capsule warped to a higher part of the room. He moved around the air while raining down balls of energy that exploded, trying to hit the good guys.

They dodged the attacks but occasionally got hit by them due to the large amount of them falling down, yet they persisted and fought back against the Wily Capsule.

"Argh! You brats are persistent!" said Dr. Wily. He noted the status of his capsule and saw that its condition was deteriorating due to the number of times it got hit by them. "I can't keep this up forever!"

Sonic suddenly ran up a wall and jumped off it towards Wily. The latter warped away in time, so Sonic flew through thin air instead. From down below, Proto Man gave Laplace a boost into the air by allowing her to jump off his shield. She jumped towards Sonic and grabbed his leg and swung him in the air once before hurling him at Wily, who reappeared in another location.

Sonic curled into a ball as he flew towards Wily, and the speed at which this happened was too fast for Wily to react, so the capsule was hit by the ball-shaped Sonic and knocked out of the air. Proto Man charged up his arm cannon and ran underneath the falling capsule to shoot it from below, blasting it back into the air.

Laplace charged up her gun to the max and then let loose a large beam. "Laplace Buster!

KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

BGM Ends

The powerful beam attack annihilated the Wily Capsule. Dr. Wily flew out of the explosion and crashed onto the floor. Charred all over the body, he got on his knees and began lowering his head over and over. "I'm sorry… I apologize for everything… Please have mercy…!"

The good guys got in front of him, and Proto Man said, "I've seen this several times, you know. You won't fool me this time!"

"Heh! Even Eggman isn't this pathetic when defeated!" said Sonic.

"Know your place and surrender, villain!" Laplace said to him while pointing his gun at him. "Learn your lesson while you're in prison!"

As Red Hood, Mega Man and Rush, and Shadow beheld the giant robot before them, Eggman was inside, checking on the status of his ride. "Sage, status report," he said.

"Status normal and ready to go, father," replied a young girl's voice out of nowhere.

"Good! Now to show you people how scary I can be when I get angry!" said the evil scientist with a grin.

BGM: Final Boss (Sonic Superstars)

The robot raised his hands into the air, so the good guys fled sideways on the walkway to avoid them when they came swinging down and destroyed the portion of the walkway they were on. Mega Man and Red Hood then fired from their firearms at the robot's body, while Shadow created and threw energy spears. None of the attacks seem to do anything to the robot though.

Missiles then shot out from the back of the robot's body and rained down towards them. Acting fast, the good guys took aim at the approaching missiles and destroyed them. As they were doing so, the robot raised his hands and readied to bring them down again, but once again, the good guys got out of the way before the hands destroyed the walkway for the second time.

"How do you usually deal with something like this?!" Red Hood asked Shadow.

"Look for a weak spot and attack it," replied Shadow. "It's usually the head."

"When I faced giant robots, it's either the head or some glowing circle on the body that are the weak spots," replied Mega Man.

"Huh, sounds like the cores of Raptures," said Red Hood, and then she looked at the robot. "In that case, let's aim for its head!"

"Sounds good to me," said Shadow.

"You're not having things your way that easily!" said Eggman before firing missiles at them. While Red Hood and Mega Man dealt with the missiles, Shadow jumped at some of them and used them as platforms to get higher into the air until he was close to the head. He then teleported closer to the head and began punching and kicking it hard multiple times, so hard that Eggman felt himself shaking.

Shadow eventually teleported back onto the walkway, and Red Hood asked, "No offense, but I don't think your fists are going to do much to something like that…"

"Then you know nothing about me," Shadow said to her.

"Well, I do know that firearms work best in situations like this!" said Red Hood as she took aim with her sniper rifle and fired blasts of orange beams rapidly, striking the head. The powerful shots actually caused the robot to flinch and take some steps back, but Red Hood's firepower eventually ran out of juice, and she commented about having to wait for cooldown to end first.

"Argh! Why you?!" said Eggman as he brought down another hand that they avoided again.

"The walkway is going to disappear completely at this point!" said Red Hood, looking at the third destruction of the walkway and then at the remaining parts on the other side.

"Then we'll take the fight to the air!" said Mega Man. Rush changed into his Rush Jet form for Mega Man to stand on top of and then took off into the air.

"Easy for you to say!" Red Hood said to him.

Mega Man got higher than the robot and fired his Mega Buster at it. In response, the robot fired missiles into the air at him. Mega Man switched his weapon to Homing Sniper and fired several of his own missiles that homed in on the opposing missiles, destroying them all. After that, he switched to Flash Bomb and fired multiple explosives that exploded nonstop for several seconds against the robot's head.

The robot raised his hands and tried to hit Mega Man, but Rush carried his master out of harm's way. In trying to hit Mega Man, the robot hit the walkway and wall multiple times, and Red Hood and Shadow had to get out of the way nonstop.

Mega Man and Rush continued to avoid the melee attacks as the former fired using different weapons at the robot. Unfortunately for them, their luck came to an end when Eggman was finally able to land a blow on them, knocking them out of the air and onto the floor below. Red Hood looked down in shock and called out to them.

Mega Man and Rush collapsed next to each other, and the robot approached them to ready to step on them. In an instant, Shadow teleported down below and ran at them, carrying them out of harm's way before the foot came down to crush them.

Red Hood sighed with relief and then looked up at the robot. "All right! That's the last time you hurt my friends! I'll teach you a lesson!" Running at a fast speed, Red Hood ran up the wall and then jumped off it towards the robot's head, firing bursts of orange beams multiple times at the head and damaging it intensely.

The robot took steps back from the constant firing and actually fell backwards, hitting his back against the wall and sitting against it. Needless to say, Eggman cried in shock and anger inside. Red Hood landed on the body and ran up up it to meet the robot face to face. Aiming at one of the eyes, she pulled the trigger, blasting through it.

Inside, Eggman saw that the visuals had disappeared on one side. He pounded the controls with is fists in frustration, and the robot stood back up, causing Red Hood to fall off onto the floor, where her allies were.

"Argh! You'll pay for this!" said Eggman in anger as the robot stomped towards them.

"Dang! This thing's tough!" said Red Hood.

"It doesn't seem to be going down no matter how many times we hit it!" said Mega Man

"Sage, activate ant-gravity!" Eggman said to the robot's computer.

"Yes, father," replied the feminine voice of the computer.

Yellow light shined down from the ceiling, and at once, the good guys floated into the air. "Whoa! What's happening?!" cried Red Hood, flailing her limbs around.

"Let's see how you handle there being no gravity!" said Eggman. "And I bet you don't even know that the term zero gravity doesn't actually exist, because at no point in time and space is there even a moment where there is no gravity whatsoever. There is always minuscule…"

"Is this really the time for scientific facts…?" Red Hood asked him.

"Not really, but I can't help but wanting to prove my genius to you… Anyway, just die already!" said Eggman. The three satellite-like devices that were attached to the front part of the robot's body then moved and positioned themselves in different locations of the body so that they were pointed at each of the good guys. They charged up and fired electric beams at them. Shadow was the only who managed to escape by teleporting away, while the other two were zapped by the beams.

He reappeared in the air above the robot and dropped straight down, slamming onto it with a powerful ax kick that shook the whole thing. Eggman moved away from underneath him and tried to swat him with his hands.

Mega Man recovered from the blast and told Rush to transform, and the robotic dog barked before changing into a small spaceship for Mega Man to get onto, and a glass cockpit closed over him. Before he could take off, Red Hook suddenly slammed and grabbed onto the cockpit. "Not fair! I want a ride too!" she said.

"Just grab onto the back…" Mega Man told her, and she did so.

Mega Man took off in Rush with Red Hood holding onto the back tightly. They flew around the robot, and Rush fired energy blasts from his mouth at it, aiming for the satellite dishes that fired at them earlier. Noticing this, Eggman swung the robot's hand at them, but Shadow appeared in front of the hand at the last second and held up one foot to block the blow. "Dang! That's some leg power you've got!" commented Red Hood.

"Take this!" said Eggman in anger as he fired multiple missiles, much more than before at them.

As the missiles were raining down onto the good guys, Mega Man activated Speed Gear. Jumping out of Rush, he jumped for the nearest missile and used it as a platform to jump onto another one. Thanks to Speed Gear increasing his speed by a large margin, every thing seems to be moving at slow motion to him, thus allowing him to pull off this tactic that looks like only Sonic and Shadow should be able to perform.

Mega Man bounced from missile to missile until it he was in front of Eggman's head, and then he used Power Gear to charge up arm cannon to the max before firing a large plasma energy shot at him. The powerful blast caused tremendous damage to the robot, and at the same time, Shadow used Chaos Control to slow down time and then fired several energy spears all over the place, destroying the missiles.

While Eggman was still recovering from the shot given to him by Mega Man, Red Hood floated in front of him with her gun pointed him. "Have another taste of my Red Wolf!" she said loudly before firing an onslaught of powerful orange beams all over the robot's body.

BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG!

"Aaaaargh!" cried Eggman as he got rocked back and forth inside the cockpit. Smoke and sparks came out from all around him, while lights flashed nonstop.

"Father! Imminent destruction! You must evacuate fast! This robot is no longer operational!" said Sage.

"Argh! I can't believe it!" said the villain in rage. "That does it! Activate self-destruction sequence for this place, Sage! Blow them to kingdom come!"

"Are you sure, father?" asked Sage. "What about Wily? He may not be able…"

"Screw him! Just do it!" interrupted Eggman.

"As you wish, father…" said Sage.

From the outside, the good guys saw the robot bursting into flames gradually. The gravity returned to normal, so everyone fell back down onto the ground. "Did we do it?" asked Red Hood.

The head of the robot opened, and Eggman flew out in his Egg Mobile and out of the room through a hole on a wall. "He's getting away!" pointed out Mega Man.

"Hmph! He always does that!" said Shadow, seemingly not caring about Eggman's escape.

The whole place also began shaking and bursting into flames, while a siren could be heard going off. "Huh… What is happening…?" asked a nervous Red Hood.

"This place is exploding, right?" asked Mega Man.

"Looks like he intends to take us down with him, but as if that is happening!" said Shadow, and then he turned to run. "Everyone, let's get out of here fast!"

The final battles of this arc are over! New arc will be unveiled next chapter, and it's one that wasn't teased back in chapter 6. I guarantee that it's a fusion between series that nobody will ever think of!

The chapter title is a reference to Mega Man 6's subtitle in Japan. All the classic mainline games have subtitles in the Japanese versions that got removed from Western releases.
