PROMPT: Confession
"I just want you to know, that when I fall flat on my ass and break something, I will one hundred per cent blame you," I said to Emmett as I step onto the ice, literally quaking in my boots. My arms are out to my sides, and my eyes are planted firmly on my feet.
"You won't fall," Emmett says as he skates circles around me. "I won't let you."
As those words leave his mouth, my entire body shakes. I flap my arms like a bird, and an undignified shriek leaves my mouth.
But, just like he had said, Emmett was there with an arm around my waist, his breath hot against my ear. "You're okay. I've got you," he cooed.
Once I had righted myself - which mainly consisted of me clinging to Emmett for dear life - I glare at him. "I don't know why I agreed to this."
"Because it's fun!" Emmett sang, wrapping his hands around my waist as he stood behind me, effectively pushing me.
"Oh, yeah, real fun!" I say sarcastically… even though I was actually enjoying myself.
We'd gone to the fair first and ridden on a few rides, had an excellent makeout session on the ghost train, and eaten two massive hotdogs and slushies. Emmett insisted that we come to the ice rink, and I agreed, completely forgetting that my ability to skate was nonexistent. And as it turns out, Emmett is pretty fucking smooth, despite being so large. He can glide around lie no one's business, and to top that off, he looks fucking delicious whilst doing it. Apparently, Alice loved to skate as a child, so whenever she got to pick the activity that they did as a family, she chose ice skating.
Emmett chuckles at my attitude before he picks me up and swings me around, eventually depositing me back on the ice.
I squeal again, clinging to him for dear life until I feel partially stable on my skates. Then, I playfully smack his chest, grinning as I do so. "That's not funny."
"Sorry," he says, leaning down to kiss me on the cheek, his eyes bright.
My heart thumps in my chest as I stare at him. How is this man mine? How has the universe managed to bring him into my life? I'm not sure, and I don't want to question it.
"I like it when you look at me like that," Emmett admits quietly. One hand cups my face, his fingers stroking across my cheek in such a tender gesture.
"Like what?" I ask, breathless, unable to take my eyes from him.
"Like I'm the most important thing in the world to you."
I want to tell him that he is. That I don't know how I would go on without him. Emmett brings such joy and wonderment to me and my life that the thought of not seeing him is enough to break my heart.
"It fuels my ego," Emmett mock whispers, leaning down to kiss me, stealing my breath in the process.
I freely give it to him. He already has my heart. He can take whatever he wants. I don't mind. I want him to have it.
"Ewww!" several young voices call out, causing us to separate.
We see three young girls looking at our embrace as if us kissing is the most disgusting thing. They can't be older than seven, and honestly, the looks on their faces is enough to make me giggle and bury my face in Emmett's jacket.
"What?" Emmett asks them. "Can't a man kiss a woman?"
"My mommy says that all men are dogs and belong outside." The voice comes from the most innocent looking girl. Her hair is up in pigtails, bright brown eyes staring at us with a smattering of freckles across her nose.
"My mommy kisses my daddy all the time!" Another one of the girls remarks, raising her arms in the air as she does so.
"See?" Emmett says to the other two, who don't look entirely convinced.
"And the gardener," she tacks on.
I share a look with Emmett, my eyes wide. Okay…
"Well, my mommy and daddy say you should only kiss someone if you love them. Are you two in love?" It's the third and final girl who says this. Her hair is jet black, her eyes a deep shade of blue and her skin in a beautiful caramel colour. She is missing her two front teeth, and she looks like a little angel.
"Well…" I stutter. I blush and look down at the ice.
"Yes," Emmett begins. "I do love her."
Snapping my head up to look at him, my jaw drops. "You love me?" As cliche as it sounds, everything else seems to fade away. I can no longer hear the blades of other skaters as they dance around us, the small group of girls disappear, and it's just Emmett and me.
Emmett's eyes are completely serious. "Of course. Is it not obvious?"
"Not to me," I tell him, clutching onto his jacket.
"I do," he says, nodding his head. "I'm completely in love with you, Rosie. You've got my heart. It's yours for as long as you'll have it."
Tears build up in my eyes. Could this man be any sweeter? "I love you, too," I tearfully tell him.
The words roll off my tongue with ease. I feel light and free. Is this what love is? Is that what it feels like to be truly happy? No wonder people get addicted to being in relationships. There is no other feeling like this.
"Thank fuck for that," Emmett says quietly, more aware of our surroundings than I am, before he leans down to kiss me again.
Using his jacket, I pull him closer, my lips smiling against his as skaters whizz past us. His tongue is gentle against my lips, cheekily seeking entrance. I grant it, unable to keep the moan from my lips when his tongue touches mine and fireworks explode through my body.
"We should probably take this somewhere private," Emmett mumbles against my lips, pushing himself closer so I can feel the very obvious erection he is sporting.
"Definitely," I agree. Moving my mouth up to his ear, I whisper dirty words just for him, "I need your cock in my mouth."
