Enchanting Grom Fright
Hello everyone, and welcome back to The Owl House: The Bro Files. Yes, it is the enchanting night of Grom, Hexside's version of Prom. Where we see Carlos taking Emira to the dance, Eda chaperones the dance, King and Gus are the emcee's at Grom and... the official start of Amity liking Luz?!
That's right, the episode that started the Lumity train. I know they don't get officially together until within season 2, but this was the start of what becomes Lumity.
Also, leave a review on what ship name you like for Carlos and Emira: Carmira or Emilos. I do like Carmira better, but I would love to hear what you like the best. Anyways, let's get on to Grom.
We start at the Owl House, where we see Luz learning about plant magic, as she used a magnifying glass to notice the plant glyph on a flower.
"Come on. Work this time." She said, as she drew the glyph on a piece of paper. She pressed on the glyph, as she made a flower grow and she gasped in excitement. "Yes! Check it out, guys. My glyph skills are blossoming." King and Carlos were with her, as King was watching cat videos on Luz's phone.
"Sweet. Even though I don't take plant lessons at school, I could use that sometime." Carlos said, amazed.
"You think that's impressive? Check this out. Two warriors battling to the death." King said, showing them two cats being adorable. The reason they could watch cat videos is because the portal to the human realm was open and they were getting Wi-Fi through it.
"Ah, I see we're getting enough Wi-Fi through the portal for cat videos." Luz said.
"Senseless violence. Yes, attack! Death is your god!" King exclaimed, as he was entranced with the cat video.
"I regret teaching you about the internet." Luz said, regretting that decision.
"Heh. What possible regrets could come from the internet? Oh, did you know the Earth is actually flat?" King asked, seeing an artical about the Earth being flat.
"Yep, that's not right." Luz said, taking her phone away from King. Just then, both Carlos and Luz's phones vibrate, as they both got texts from their mother. She had asked them how camp was going.
"Geez, I keep forgetting we're supposed to be at camp. I hate having to lie to her." Carlos said, having to text Camila camp was fun. "I know I said I would stay for Luz, but having to lie to mama bites."
Luz was worse about the text, as she was nervously trying to type a response back, but only sent a thumbs up emoji. "Good enough." Luz said.
"Ah, a severed hand. Perfect response." King said, not understanding what an emoji was.
"Right, you don't know what emoji's are." Carlos said. Luz sighed in frustration.
"What am I supposed to say? 'Hey, Mom, not at camp actually. I'm in a demon realm learning to be a witch with Carlos. Also, did you know demons and magic are real?' She will end me." Luz said in a worriful way.
"Nah, she'd be freaked out by our world anyway. So actually, by keeping the truth from her, you're doing her a favor." King said.
"Se lo que quieres decir. I haven't told her about this place either. I fear mom would end me if she found out I let you stay here." Carlos said while placing a hand on Luz's shoulder.
"Hmm, the demon at my shoulder makes a good point." Luz said.
"Always trust a shoulder demon." King said, as he took Luz's phone back.
"Hoot, hoot, Luz and Carlos! Time to fill up those darling little heads of yours with... Mmm-hmm, delicious knowledge." Hooty said, as he regurgitated up their books. That's when Gus and Willow poked their heads in.
"Please hurry." Gus begged, having to see Hooty throw up the books.
"The more I look at him, the more uncomfortable I get." Willow added.
"Dang it, Hooty. Why do you always have to make everyone uncomfortable." Carlos complained, as he got up and went outside with his things.
"Hoot, hoot!" Hooty excitedly hooted, not having a care in the world. Lus nervously chuckled, as she got up and kissed King on the head.
"Don't spend all day watching Mew-Tube, okay?" Luz asked King while she left for school.
"I forge my own path!" King exclaimed, as he watched a cat chasing its own tail. This made him chuckle. "What a dum-dum." He then saw his tail, as he starts bashing at it but gave up. "Who has the energy?"
We're now at Hexside, where we see decorations hung up everywhere. There was a big celebration coming up for Hexside very soon. We then see Luz coming up with Willow, Gus, Carlos and the twins. Carlos had an arm around Emira's waist, while she had an arm around his shoulders.
"Something's different today. Did everyone get a haircut?" Luz asked. Carlos couldn't help but to roll his eyes and chuckle at his sister's antics. That's when Willow remembered something.
"Oh, yeah, I forgot you and Carlos have never been here for the social event of the season." Willow started.
"Welcome to your first-" Gus was about to add in, until a school doctor and nurse came running by with a gurney while imitating ambulance sirens.
"Out of the way!" One of them yelled. They then came up to a student that had blonde hair covering his eyes and bat-like ears.
"Come with us immediately. Your disease, it's advancing." The doctor said.
"Is there a cure, doc?" The student asked, as he got on the gurney.
"Only one. Finding the perfect date to Grom." The doctor said, as he went from serious to all lovey-dovey.
"If that's the cure, then, Skara, will you go to Grom with me?" The student asked Skara, as he took out a beating heart with the word Grom on it.
"Of course I will or whatever." Skara cheered, as she hugged the student. All the other students cheered for them.
"Grom, huh? Guess that means we will be going together." Carlos said to Emira.
"That's right." Emira agreed.
"You guys have a weird version of Prom in the Boiling Isles?" Luz asked all excitedly. "I was kicked out of my last school dance for dressing like an otter, but maybe here, I could be your Grom Queen."
"That's, uh, not something people usually sign up for." Willow hesitantly said.
"Why not?" Carlos asked. Before anyone could answer, Amity came around the corner and accidentally ran into Luz, dropping her stuff in the process.
"Ugh! Watch it, nitwit." Amity said, until she realized who she bumped into. "Oh. Hi, Luz and co. Sorry about that." She apologized, as she got up and started picking up her things.
"No problem. Let me help you. Here, your note." Luz said, as she helped Amity and handed her the note she had. Amity quickly grabbed the note from Luz's hand. "Man, you got some quick grabbers."
"It's just... It's private." Amity said in hesitation. Just then, Principal Bump came on over the loud speaker.
"Attention, Hexside students, this is your principal speaking." Bump started.
"Oh, man, this is it." Gus quietly said.
"He's announcing who will be this year's Grom royalty." Willow added in.
"This year, I have the privilege to bestow our highest Grom honor to Amity Blight." Bump announced, as everyone gasped. "Our Grom Queen." Amity look worried, as some of the students whispered in fear. That's when Luz cheered for Amity.
"Amity! Get it, Queen!" Luz cheered, offering a high-five to Amity. Amity could only run off. "Don't leave me hanging."
"You might wanna give her some space." Willow told Luz, putting a hand on Luz's shoulder.
"That was kinda rude." Carlos said.
"Look, this is a lot of pressure for her. Ed and I are gonna make sure she's alright." Emira said. She gave Carlos a kiss on the cheek, as she and Edric went to go find Amity.
"What was that about?" Carlos asked in confusion.
"Being Grom Queen is a tough job, even for Amity." Willow told the Noceda siblings.
We go to the gymnasium, where we see students decorating for Grom while being directed by Principal Bump.
"Very good. Lower the streamers, fill the punch bowl, and how's my disco ball?" Bump asked, looking up at the Snaggleback. The Snaggleback was hanging upside down from his hands on a rope with a bunch of glitter on his shell.
"Nauseous." The Snaggleback replied.
"Great. Just keep it up for 36 more hours." Bump said, as he left the gymnasium. That's when Luz entered the gym with Carlos.
"Ah, our first school dance experience on the Boiling Isles. I can't wait to get overdressed, take awkward photos, push all the buttons. Wait, what?" Luz asked, as she saw a pedistal with a big red button on it. "Well, hello. Don't mind if I do."
"Luz, no!" Before Carlos could stop her, Luz pressed the button. As she did, a big part of the gymnasium floor opened up to reveal a room below it.
"Whoa!" Luz said in amazement. Just then, two walls with a bunch of different weapons magically appeared, making Luz and Carlos gasp. "Medieval torture seems like a strange theme for Grom. But hey..."
"I think this is more than just a dance, Luz." Carlos told her.
"They're not for decoration." Came the voice of Amity, as Luz and Carlos look over and see her sitting high up in the bleachers with Edric and Emira. "This arena's where I'll make my debut as Grom Queen." She came down from the bleachers, as she was followed by the twins.
"Right. So why don't you seem excited?" Luz asked.
"Because this isn't just some dance party." Amity said.
"Called it." Carlos said. They all looked down into the room below the gymnasium, as an amorphus blob briefly appeared.
"That's Grom. Short for Grometheus, the fear bringer. It's a monster that lives under the school." Amity said, as she made a magic circle to show what happens during Grom. "Every year it tries to break out, and a student has to defeat it before it invades the town.
"Ever the optimist, Bump holds a party and calls it tradition. The worst thing is that Grom can read minds, and shape-shift into your worst fear. And mine is embarrassing." Amity explained.
"Oh, I see why you're so stressed about this ordeal. Must be pretty tough to be the student picked for this job." Carlos said.
"If it worries you so much, why don't you tell Principal Bump you want out of this death match biz?" Luz asked, then gasped. "Unless talking to Bump is your greatest fear." That made Amity chuckle.
"No, but that's a good idea. Thanks, Luz." Amity thanked, as she went to go talk to Principal Bump.
"Hmm." Luz said, lost in thought until she was interrupted.
"Put down a tarp! I'm gonna puke! Ugh!" The Snaggleback exclaimed loudly.
"Okay, don't need to see that." Carlos said, as he, Luz and the twins rushed out of there.
We're back at the Owl House, where Luz and Carlos arrived back home.
"We're home." Luz called out.
"Ow!" Eda cried out in pain, as Carlos and Luz entered her room.
"Guys." Luz said. We then see Eda wearing a brown suit with a red dress-shirt under the jacket.
"Careful with those pins." Eda told King, as he was helping her fit into her suit.
"Why am I doing this? I don't even wear clothes." King pointed out.
"Hey, sweet duds, Owl Lady. What's the haps?" Luz asked.
"I'm chaperoning Grom tomorrow, so I have to look sharp." Eda told the siblings.
"And Gus asked me to co-emcee the fight." King said, as he pulled out a poster with him and Gus on it. "We're gonna turn this bloodbath into a fun bath."
"Hey, you got any extra suits? I didn't exactly pack my own when I first came here." Carlos said.
"I should have an extra that should fit you. Ooh, have they announced the victim yet?" Eda asked.
"Yeah, it's Amity. She's kinda freaking out though. I wish I could take her place or something." Luz said. This made Eda and King laugh at her notion. Carlos couldn't help but to let out a chuckle too.
"A great joke, Luz." King said between laughs.
"Oh, listen, kid. That's a noble sentiment, but Grom is a little above your pay grade. You're a human. You're fragile." Eda told Luz once she was done laughing.
"Hey, I've been learning lots of new spells. I could totally handle it." Luz told Eda confidentally.
"There's a horrifying spider in your hair." Eda told Luz.
"Nope. I'm not as fragile as you think, Eda. And I can't be so easily fooled either. Hrmph!" Luz said, walking off while not knowing there was an actual spider in her hair.
"So, she's in way over her head, isn't she?" Carlos asked, which King and Eda nodded.
"Facing Grom means facing your worst fear. And I don't think Luz knows what that means yet." Eda said, as she then asked. "Do you think I could pull off red eye shadow?"
"Girl, you can pull off anything. Up top! We're style geniuses." King said, high-fiving Eda. Carlos rolled his eyes at King's irony.
We now go to the woods in the dark, where we see Luz walking in frustration while carrying a stick.
"'Fragile.' Eda doesn't know me. I'm brave. I'm a bad boy." Luz told herself. She then got freaked out when she heard footsteps approaching. "Ominous footsteps, creepy woods. This is no problem."
She then approached the sound where the footsteps were coming from, then charged forward screaming. Once she got to the one making the noise, she attacked them with the stick she had and they fell in the mud. Luz then made a light glyph and took a look at who she attacked, which she noticed it was Amity.
"Oh, my gosh. Amity, I'm so sorry." Luz apologized, as she went to help Amity out of the mud.
"And here I thought this day couldn't get any worse." Amity said, accepting Luz's help while struggling to stand in the mud. Once she got her footing, she sat on a stump that was in the mud.
"Did you talk to Bump? Was it as terrifying as you imagined?"Luz asked, as she sat in the mud. Amity sighed in frustration.
"He said no. I'm Grom Queen, unless I can find a replacement. And who'd wanna switch with me?" Amity asked, feeling down.
"I would." Luz said without a second thought.
"What?" Amity asked in a slight surprise, as she wasn't expecting Luz to offer to be her replacement.
"Amity Blight, I'll do it. I'll take your place and face Grom in the arena. I'll be your fearless champion." Luz nobally told her. The spider that was on the back of her head then crawled on her face, making her panic and she started rolling around in the mud to get it off. "Fearless champion." She weakly said once she got the spider off her.
It was now daytime, as we are back at the Owl House. We see Luz picking out something to wear, as the first thing she pulled out was a black, sleeveless dress with a yellow crescent moon on the chest and a yellow belt across the waist.
"Hmm." She thought about the dress, as she set it down then pulled out an otter costume. "Hmm."
"Don't wear the otter costume." Carlos said, as he had entered the room to see Luz had pulled it out. They then both got another text from their mother, saying she was at their favorite after school snack spot, followed by a picture of her at a Chimichurri sandwich place while holding a sub sandwich. She then sent a text saying she misses them.
"Aw, man. I miss having a Chimichurri sandwich right now." Carlos said, as he and Luz sent her a 'Looks delicious' emoji. Carlos then noticed Luz looked upset.
"Hey, Luz. You have a guest." Hooty said while coming through the window and touched her face with his.
"Hooty, no touching." Luz said, as she shooed Hooty away. That's when Amity came through Luz's door. "Amity."
"If that bird tube ever talks to me again, I'm going to destroy it." Amity grumpily said, as she was pulling feathers from her hair. "You ready to train?" She asked Luz.
"Wait, train for what?" Carlos asked, but then realized. "Wait, did you become Amity's replacement for Grom Queen?" Luz nodded at that. "Should've expected you would do that for her."
"Which should I wear to Grom?" Luz asked, showing Amity the two options she had. "This one says, 'Witch with a dark side.' But this one says, 'I' m an otter with a dark side.'"
"Luz, you need to take this seriously. If you can't defeat Grom, everyone on the island will have to live out their worst nightmare." Amity told Luz.
"She's right, Luz. No one wants to live with their worst nightmare." Carlos agreed.
"You wanna hear my worst nightmare?" Hooty asked, touching Amity's face. That was a big mistake, as Amity started to beat Hooty up. "Hooty-hoot! Hoot, hoot!"
"Stop, stop. Amity, stop!" Luz yelled, as she was trying to stop Amity from killing Hooty.
We're now outside, where we see Amity pacing back and forth. Luz, Carlos and the twins were out there with her, as we could also see Hooty had some bandages and an eyepatch, which was the result from Amity's beating.
"Grom will transform into your darkest fears. What are you afraid of, Luz?" Amity asked Luz. Luz had to think about it.
"Wanna say our greatest fears? On three. One, two..." Edric counted, as he and Emira said their fears.
"Being alone forever./ Being stuck with you forever." The twins said. Edric got sad, as Emira's fear was directed more towards him.
"That was a bit harsh, wasn't it?" Carlos asked her.
"Trust me, after living with him for our whole lives, you'd understand." Emira told him in a low voice so Ed couldn't hear her.
"In preparation, I've made a list." Luz said, as she pulled out a list and handed it to Amity. The twins walked over to each of Amity's sides and they read the list, as they gave off mischevious laughs.
"I don't like the sound of that." Carlos said, as the twins used their illusion magic to make Luz's fear come to life. The first one was of someone online with the word 'M'lady' under him. This made Luz gasp.
"Jerks online who wanna debate." Luz said. The next thing that appeared was a cat with a human face.
"Luz, help me, help." The human-faced cat said.
"Human souls trapped in cat bodies." Luz said. The next items to appear were a carton of milk and a glass. The milk then poured into the glass. "No! I'm lactose intolerant."
"Not enough." Amity said, walking over to Luz and the illusions disappeared. "The reason I can't face Grom, it goes deeper than things that just gross me out. What's your real fear, Luz?" This made Luz look up to Eda's room.
"My real fear is that Eda thinks I'm too fragile to do this. And if she's right, I'll never be a real witch." Luz said. Carlos knew Luz wasn't telling the full truth, as Edric and Emira used their illusion magic to make a 20 foot tall Eda appear.
"Wow, that's actually impressive." Carlos said, impressed.
"You're inadequate." Illusion Eda said, as she made a magic circle to put Luz in a high-chair and a bib that had 'Weak Baby' written on it.
Back inside the Owl House, we see the real Eda still getting ready for Grom. She was admiring herself inside the mirror.
"Meow. I still got it." She said. She then heard Luz yell 'No!' from outside. "I get it. Ditch the yellow." She said, as she walked outside and ditched the yellow bowtie she had on. She gasped and saw a 20 foot version of herself.
"Is that supposed to be me? Dang, I look great" Eda chuckled while admiring herself. She then realized something and looked to Luz. "Wait a sec. You're training to be Grom Queen."
"So what if I am?" Luz asked, still in the high-chair. She then tipped it over, screaming.
"You think training will help against Grom? Luz, you always go overboard, and Carlos or I end up bailing you out. Now, what's the fun in watching a kid get eaten by a monster if it's my kid?" Eda asked.
"Well, maybe you'll have fun watching me defeat Grom." Luz said, as she karate chopped the illusion of the cat with a human face and it disappeared. Eda couldn't help but to be somewhat impressed by Luz's speech.
"Luz, I don't think you're ready, but we're literally out of time." Amity said to Luz as she walked up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"I'll take it." Luz optimistically said.
We're now at Grom, where we see some students dancing, while other students were standing and talking. Carlos was hanging with the twins and talking. Carlos was wearing one of the spare tuxedo's Eda had, which looked almost like a normal tux.
Edric and Emira had a matching theme with what they were wearing. Edric was wearing a tan tux with a yellow dress-shirt and bowtie, along with brown dress-shoes. Emira was wearing a yellow, sleeveless dress that had a sewn-on bow and light-brown boots.
We pan over to Willow, who made corsage's for people with her plant magic, as everyone was impressed with it. We then pan to Eda, who was standing over at a flower arch-way, looking like she was bored. She looked at her watch, as King walked up to her.
"Why so twitchy, witchy? Trying to remember if I've ever seen you this worried before." King said in thought.
"Well, of course I'm worried. I'm gonna have to save Luz from a nightmare monster. So much for mama's fun night out." Eda said with a groan. That's when the lights went out and Gus's voice rang out.
"Ladies, gentlemen, and assorted demons, it's almost time for our main Grom event. Please, please, take a seat. And beware that the first three rows are designated splash zones." Gus said, as we pan over to a one-eyed demon on the bleachers wearing a rain coat, a rain hat and had an umbrella. A lot of the students cheered.
"Wow, Gus is really good at this. They're hanging on his every word." King said, as he took his seat with Eda.
"I see we've got Principal Bump in the house. Now, sir, I hope you won't throw us in detention because, uh, we're gonna raise the roof." Gus said, as the spotlight went over to Principal Bump in the crowd, who playfully went along with it by doing the 'Raise the Roof' hand motion.
"I hope my material's up to snuff. Whoa!" King said as he pulled out some rehersal cards, only to drop them and fall to his butt. He then turned to Eda and asked. "What do you think will go better with the youth? Close-up magic or impressions?"
"Oh, King... Teenagers are brutal. They'll boo anyone, and that kind of public humiliation can stick with you for life." Eda told him, making him scream out in horror.
Now with Carlos and the twins, they were now sitting on the bleachers while talking. Edric had been with Carlos and Emira because his date stood him up.
"So, why does Luz fear milk so much?" Edric asked Carlos. "I mean, I get being lactose intolerant could be a little scary, but it shouldn't be something to be totally fearful over."
"I know it sounds silly for her to be scared of it, but an incident back when we were younger made Luz be afraid to be near any milk with lactose in it." Carlos told him and Emira.
"But what exactly happened to make her afraid of it?" Emira asked.
"You remember that memory of me and Luz from photo class?" Carlos asked, as Emira nodded. "Well, when Luz got her lunch from school that day, she wasn't paying attention and grabbed a carton of milk instead of orange juice. Because of that little mishap, she had been picked-on pretty hard to make her cry and afraid of milk."
"Whoa, brutal." Ed said, as he and Emira felt a little sympathetic for Luz.
"Yeah, getting lactose intolerance from our mom made sure we have to avoid as much milk as possible." Carlos said.
"Wait, you said 'we.' Does that mean you have it too?" Emira asked.
"Sadly, yes. The curse of genetics is strong in our family." Carlos said.
We're now at the gymnasium doors, where we see Amity dressed in her Grom outfit. She looked over to Edric, Emira and Carlos, then down to the note she had from before. She had somewhat of a worried expression on her face.
"I'm not sure if it's nerves or if I accidentally drank some milk, but something's making my stomach squirm." Luz said while holding her stomach. Her hair was slicked back, as she wore a tux jacket over a dress shirt, a pink tutu skirt with purple leggings and a pair of brown boots.
"You look nice. Strange but nice." Amity complimented Luz's Grom attire. "And thank you, Luz. Honestly, I'm kind of amazed with how fearless you are. You've done things I could never do." This made Luz chuckle.
"Yeah, right. You're going soft on me, Blight?" Luz asked in a joking manner, which made Amity laugh.
"In your dreams." Amity said. That's when Gus came in over the mic.
"Now introducing our Grom Queen. You know her, you love her. You've at least heard of her... Luz, the human." Gus introduced, as the crowd of students cheered.
"Wish me luck." Luz said while giving a thumbs-up to Amity.
"Luck." Amity softly said as Luz ran off to face Grom.
Gus pressed the button on the pedistal, as the floor opened up like before. The wall of weapons also came up, as Luz chose a flail with a spiky ball as her weapon to beat Grom. Luz put an ice glyph on the spiky ball, as she headed down to face Grom.
Back with Carlos and the twins, Carlos had a worried look on his face, as he watched his sister go face a being that could make your worst fears a reality.
"I hope she'll be alright." Carlos said in a worried tone.
"I'm sure she'll be fine. All she has to do is beat Grom." Emira tried reassuring Carlos.
"Or she will be squashed to a pulp by Grom." Edric said.
"Not helping, Ed." Emira said, slapping him on the back of the head.
Back with Luz, Grom was starting to come out. This got the attention of Luz.
"There you are, Gromarama. Not too scary." Luz said, as Grom the started taking shape of cats with human faces.
"Luz, help me. I'm a man./ Make me human again." The cats say, as they start walking towards Luz.
"Ugh. So weird." Luz said. She then swung the flail and hit the ground, hitting the ice glyph and making a wall of ice form beneath the cats and sent them flying. The students cheered for that.
"And there she goes, folks, using that characteristic human magic to keep Grom at bay. And now to hand things over to my co-emcee... King." Gus announced, as he handed over the mic to King.
"Hello, Hexside. So... Oh, gosh." King said as he pulled out some cards, only for most of them to drop out of his hand. He then started acting nervously. "Wow, these lights are warm. Observe! Luz is, um... She's down there all right. And, yes, she is. There she goes. Folks, she's battling the thing. And..."
Before King could finish, the other Hexside students started booing him and belittling him, asking for Gus again.
"You will clap for me! Please?" King asked softly before running off stage crying. Carlos and the twins saw that and couldn't help but to feel bad for him.
"King!" Gus called out, going after King.
Back with Luz, she was actually doing pretty good against Grom.
"You're not coming from a place of intellectual honesty, so debating you would be pointless." Luz said, as she used another ice glyph to send a spear of ice through the phone with the debater, making it disappear. The crowd of students cheered her on.
"Luz has lasted surprisingly long. But what form will Grom take next?" Bump asked, as he took over while Gus was gone.
"Let's finish this human style!" Luz exclaimed as Grom took the form of Eda, though it looked different than the illusion Eda that Edric and Emira used. This one was all black with glowing white eyes and looked semi-mutated into the owl beast form. This made the crowd look at Eda, as she covered her face in embarrassment.
Grom then lunged a tendral at Luz's head, as it attached to her and made her eyes glow. It read her mind of what she feared the most, as it transformed into the portal to the human realm.
"Huh?" Luz asked, once she got a look at it.
Back up with Carlos and the twins, Carlos had a worried expression on his face.
"Oh, boy. This doesn't look to good." Carlos said, as this statement made the twins give him confused looks.
"What do you mean?" Edric asked.
"What's behind the door?" Emira added with her own question.
"Let's just say, Luz wasn't being entirely truthful about what she feared the most earlier. Because what she fears the most is something more than a mentor thinking you're fragile." Carlos said.
Back down on the battlefield, we see the portal door open and Camila apparently steps through the door.
"Mija?" 'Camila' asked once she sees Luz. This made Carlos sweat bullets once he saw his own mother stepping through the door.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" Luz asked, once she saw her mother standing in front of her.
"Luz, what is this terrible place?" 'Camila' asked while looking around. Eda couldn't help but to look at what was happening. "Esperate un momento, this isn't camp. Have you been here all these weeks? And is that a weapon?" 'Camila' asked with a gasp, as Luz dropped the flail.
"I can explain." Luz said. 'Camila' then looked to the crowd and saw Carlos there too.
"Mija, have you and your brother been lying to me?" 'Camila' asked with a growl, as Grom formed where her legs once were.
Back up in the stands, Carlos was freaking out.
"Oh, man. I figured Grom would turn into our mom." Carlos said aloud.
"Wait, that's your mom?" Emira asked, as she and Edric looked to him.
"Sort of. What Grom turned into is a version of our mother that would be disappointed and angry that we came here instead of going to camp in the human realm." Carlos explained to them.
Back with Gus, he went out the gymnasium to see King sitting in the hallway. He went over and sat next to him.
"What's going on, little dude?" Gus asked as he sat down.
"Nothing. Leave me be." King said, upset.
"Thing is, you're sitting in my personal chitchat zone, which means you gotta talk." Gus told King.
"Well, if that's the rule... Oh, how can this be? I get stage fright. Me! The King of Demons." King told Gus.
"Well, sometimes you just have to..."
"I know. I know. Imagine everyone in their underwear." King said, interrupting Gus. This made Gus blush.
"Gross! Why would you do that?" Gus asked King in disgust.
"I don't know. I always do that. I am a little weirdo." King said with a chuckle.
"No, King, sometimes you just have to face your fear like Luz is doing right now." Guz told King. To prove Gus wrong, Luz slid out of the gymnasium and started running past them.
"I can't do it. I can't face my fear!" Luz yelled, running away from Grom.
"Why are you running, Luz?" Grom asked in Camila's voice, as he chased after her. Gus and King made sure to get out of the way.
"Grom has escaped." Bump said, as he and a few worried students came out of the gymnasium.
"King, now's your chance." Gus said, pointing to both the mic in Bump's hand and the crowd.
"Gimme." King said, as he took the mic from Principal Bump. he then gave himself a pep talk of encouragement, as he then announced. "Well, folks, looks like our show literally just took off." Everyone fell silent, which made him confused.
"You got to pander." Gus told him.
"Uh, took off just like your local sports team would take off when they're about to make a goal." King said, as this made everyone cheer. "That's right. So, uh... So let's follow them and see what happens next." The crowd cheered, as they all left.
As soon as the crowd left, Eda, Carlos, Amity and the twins came out of the gymnasium. They all looked at each other, as they went to get Luz out of trouble.
We then switch to Luz, who was now running though the forest while trying to get away from Grom.
"I don't wanna be Grom Queen anymore. I give up the throne!" Luz exclaimed, as Grom was still chasing her. Grom chased her to the edge of a cliff, to which she stopped before she fell into the water below.
"Why can't you face me, Luz? Why can't you face your own mother?" Grom asked as Camila.
"You're not really my mom." Luz said, turning away in fear.
"How could you say that, carino. You're breaking my heart!" Grom yelled as Camila. That's when Eda came in with a fireball attack.
"Spicy toss!" She yelled out. "Hands off my human, you misshapen excuse for a monster." This made Grom growl in anger.
"Eda, you were right. I'm not ready." Luz admitted.
"That's okay. I got this one." Eda told her. She was about to use a spell, until Amity came in while yelling and stood in front of Luz.
"Stay away from her." Amity said, protecting Luz from Grom. Grom then used apart of itself to grab Amity. "I'm sorry, Luz. I should've fought my own battle. I-" Before Amity could continue, Grom used its power to see Amity's fear.
"Amity! No! Your fear!" Luz said, as Grom was shifting into Amity's fear. Grom has shifted into a dark humanoid figure with glowing eyes about the same size as Amity.
"Who is that?" Luz asked, confused. Carlos and the twins came out from the bushes and saw what was happening. Grom took the paper from Amity's pocket in her dress and tore it, as it crumbled the two papers and tossed them to the ground.
Amity looked embarrassed, as Grom left her and she picked up one of the paper balls. Luz came over and picked up the other half and unwrinkled it. What was written on it was, 'Will you go to Grom with me? -Amity.' This made Luz gasp in surprise.
"You were afraid of getting rejected. Amity, it's okay. What if I went to grom with you instead?" Luz asked, offering a hand to Amity.
"Really?" Amity asked back, surprised by the question.
"That's what friends do." Luz said with a smile on her face. Amity was about to take Luz's hand, until they heard a rumbling, as Grom came back with a roar.
"Well then, if that's settled, may I have this dance?" Amity asked, offering her own hand to Luz. Luz accepted, as she and Amity took a dance stance. They then started dancing, as Amity used her magic to make an abomination, to which she and Luz were standing on the head of.
Luz took out her glyphs, as she was dipped to place plant glyph on the head of the abomination. Luz and Amity then jumped off the abomination, as it then rushed towards Grom. Grom retalliated by rushing for the abomination and ate it along with the plant glyph.
Plants then started growing out of Grom, as he was glowing green now. Luz landed on the ground, as she then caught Amity soon after. They then did one final pose, as Grom then exploded from the combined magic and a tree with pink petals appeared after.
"Whoa." Was all Carlos and Emira could said, as they were amazed at what both of their sister's did.
Luz and Amity stood at the base of the tree, as tiaras with pink gemstones magically appeared on their heads.
"So, who did you want to ask out?" Luz asked, as Amity gained a blush on her cheeks.
"Oh, it's not important." Amity said, as she tossed her part of the note away. It landed near the one Luz dropped, as it unfolded to have Luz's name on it. This indicated Amity wanted to ask Luz to Grom.
"And there you have it, folks. A happy ending for this year's Grom. Let's give a big hand to our Grom Queens Luz and Amity." King said, as the crowd came out from behind the trees and cheered for them. The crowd then parades around them and picks them up, as Eda claps for their victory while standing next to King and Gus.
"You did it, buddy." Gus told King, giving him two thumbs up.
"Of course I did it. I'm the King of Demons, and I've never had stage fright in my life." King said in the mic. The croud of student also picked up King, who was now with Amity and Luz. "They love me!" He cheered, which made Luz and Amity laugh, as they looked at each other warmly.
We transition over to the Owl House, where we see only Eda, Luz and King arriving. Carlos decided to go back to the school to have one final dance with Emira.
"Whoo! Watch out for this human. Oh, you did good, kid." Eda cheered.
"Thanks, but... I'm gonna go to bed." Luz said with a gloomy face, as she tossed her tiara to the ground. King then picked it up and placed it on his head.
"Now I am king and queen! Best of both things!" King exclaimed.
We then see Luz enter her room with a sigh. She then opened her window and sits in the windowsill, looking out at the scenery.
"In the end, I couldn't actually face my mom. Maybe I am fragile." Luz said to herself, as her phone then vibrates. It was a text from Camila, wondering how her day was and that she missed her.
"Hmm." Luz thought. She was going to put a duck emoji, but then deleted it to put 'Miss you too, Mami.' She then starts typing again, as she starts narrating.
"I won't lie. Today was kinda hard." She said, as we cut to WIllow and Gus poking some reamins of Grom. When Willow poked it, a ladybug appeared and she jumped back. When gus poked it, a clown appeared and he ran away in fear.
"And I don't always feel like I'm supposed to be here." Luz continued, as we fade to Carlos and Emira slow dancing to some music. They looked at each other romantically, as they then kissed each other on the lips. We then fade to Amity, who was sitting at her window while looking out it. She opened a memory box she had in her lap.
"But when things got tough, my friends helped me out." Luz continued, as we see Amity put her tiara in the memory box and close it. Amity closed her eyes and leaned against her window frame. We then fade to the Owl House living room, where we see Eda sleeping on the couch. King then jumps up on her stomach and lays down, falling asleep as well.
"I think you'd like them." Luz continued. "Te extrano tambien, Mami. One day, I'll tell you all about this." Luz finished, as she sent it to her mom. She then recieved another text that read, 'Can't wait! P.S. love receiving both yours and Carlos's letters!'
"Aww, that's a cute way of saying 'text.'" Luz said, as she then looked at the moon.
We then lastly fade to the human realm, where we Camila in bed with her phone. She then turns her phone off and placed it next to a pile of letters. A closer look shows the letters were apparently written by both Luz and Carlos.
We then go to a photo album titled 'Grom Memories.' The first pair of students we see are are Cat and the pufferfish student. We then see Skara and her date pushing them out of the way, as they posed in their Grom jerseys. The next two pics we see is of Boscha, Bo and Celine posing in them. Their third photo is where Mattholomule photobombed in it, making them upset with him.
The next pic was of Carlos and Emira doing goofy poses with each other, having a good time. The next pic was of Luz posing, followed by her looking over her shoulder, then her boot, and lastly one of her hugging a blushing Amity. Willow, Gus, Carlos and Emira decided to join that photo too. Heck, Emira was even a good sister and took a photo with Edric, so he wouldn't feel left out.
And there we go, Grom is now over with. Man, this was a great one to write. Luz taking Amity's place for Grom Queen, the dance Luz and Amity did to beat Grom, and Carlos having a great night with Emira. I even gave Carlos and Emira a sweet moment on the dance floor towards the end.
Also, we're coming up to the season 1 finale, as there are only three more episodes before starting season 2. When I get there, I am going to have to think of some things I could add Carlos in, as I am still trying to think of scenarios for him.
Lastly, who wrote the letters to Camila? For those who watched the show, you know who wrote the ones with Luz's name, but who wrote the ones for Carlos? Well, only a future chapter will tell.
