Percy's POV

Huh. Smelly hat.

"Hey, I can hear ya, y'know" the Hat snapped, grumbling under his breathe. After a while, he let out a quiet whistle. "You are too loyal, but then too brave. What do we do here…

It can be pretty dangerous for you."

Percy furrowed his eyebrows under the hat, scrunching his nose. What is this old hat talking about? Being loyal to his friends are a good thing–

"No. What if you get involved on the bad side? You will be too loyal to them. If you get on the wrong path, much worse things can happen than Wizard war" the Hat cut in solemnly. "Beware. And I'm sorry for what I'm gonna do. But it will give you an exact image for bad and good, not some assumptions. I can't afford to make you get blinded by shared hatred of other students. You must understand that not everyone is bad in that house."

Percy raised his eyebrow and before he could say anything else, he heard the Hat boom "Slytherin" across the Great Hall.

He froze in his seat, unable to take off the Hat or think anything. Slytherin? The Green House? He heard stories about it. It was the House of evil, the bad ones. Especially Voldy Moldy, the fruit evil guy who murdered Harry's parents.

He stood up shakily, looking around the Hall nervously. What does it mean? Is he evil? Is he bad? What would everyone think now? Too much stuff…

What about Annabeth? She is in Gryffindor. Great. Just great. Why couldn't he at least end up in a blue house? It's blue and it seems to have a pretty good relationship with Gryffindor.

Slytherin? Not even think about it.

He felt as if his whole world was crashing, his heart sinking deeper as he saw Harry staring at him, Annabeth smiling nervously. He slowly walked over to his table with shaky steps, taking a seat in the end.

He sat next to Malfoy, the blond. It just keeps getting better and better.

"Didn't think I would meet you here, at our table, Jackson" he sneered, looking uneasy.

"Look, I didn't want to be a Slytherin" he rolled his eyes, feeling sick to his stomach.

Malfoy sighed and raised his eyebrow at him. "Slytherin isn't a house you should be hating on. It has a great history."

"Like killing people." Percy deadpanned.

It shut Malfoy up. He pursed his lips, as if he was thinking of what to say. He was staring at him with displeasure. "What even are you? A half blood? Pathetic, honestly. Half bloods are better than muggles but they don't belong in Slytherin"

"What's wrong with being half -blood?!" Percy raised his voice, feeling offended.

"You two, quiet down. Be nice to each other" some older student called out to them, sending a warning look.

Malfoy shook his head and rubbed his template. "Well, Jackson, let's try to not make big mess or anything. We are both Slytherin, after all."

He didn't like that sentence. At all.

~timeskip~

It was the next day, some green morning in the Slytherin common room. Because of the colored glass ofcourse.

It wasn't half bad, surprisingly. Girls kept stirring conversations with him, smiling and giggling. He didn't know why but at least he wasn't hated.

He wanted to see Annabeth. Talk with her.

But on the bright side, he liked his robe. It was green, matching his eyes.

He was walking to the Great Hall, following a group of boys so he get lost. He hoped to see a glimpse of Annabeth or Harry, unless they are keeping their distance from him now.

He was too lost in his thoughts when he bumped into the boys in front of him, accidentally sending the guy he crashed into flying forward. Oopsie.

He got up angrily, dusting his robe. "What the heck, slimy eyes? Watch where you are going."

Slimy eyes? Really? What a pathetic insult.

He noticed the guy seemed to be getting angrier, clenching his fist. "What did you just say? Are you looking down on me? I'm freaking 5th year, you first year baby twink!"

He realized he must have said his thoughts out loud. It was too late, since the next thing he knew was that he was getting pulled in by collar, with a wand pointing directly to his forehead.

"Maybe I should jinx you" he sneered, gripping his collar tighter.

Percy sighed. He was getting tired of this. He can literally beat this guy if he wanted to but he was kind of at a disadvantage here. He can't use his water ability or his sword. And he doesn't know how to use his wand. Going against a guy who knows magic with bare hands… isn't the greatest idea.

He was snapped out of his thoughts once again when he felt someone tug him back, separating him from a 5th year student. He looked back, catching a glimpse of blond hair.

"Malfoy" he muttered, surprised.

Malfoy stepped up to the 5th year, his eyebrow raised. "fighting on the first day? Not the greatest idea. Unless you are a slug head, maybe you should think about your surrounding" he gestured around themselves, students muttering around them as they watched the chaos.

The 5th year seemed to hesitate, biting his lips. Malfoy smirked and tilted his head. "Plus, I'm Malfoy. I don't think you would like to mess with me."

It seemed to finish the whole argument. He grumbled under his breath, cursing them as they walked away.

Percy blinked, backing away from Malfoy.

"Thanks" he muttered reluctantly. "Unexpected from a Malfoy."

He shrugged, looking over at him. "Call me Draco. Malfoy is too formal between classmates, don't ya think?"

Percy shrugged, half smiling. "Sure, Draco. You can call me Percy too."

He could have sworn Draco smiled a bit as he nodded and walked away nonchalantly. He was trying hard to look cool, Percy bit a laugh back. Maybe he isn't too bad
