Chapter One:
Alexandra POV 6 years old:
"Daddy" I exclaim, running up to him on my two little legs.
"Hey Ally cat, Bells, I heard it's someone's birthday today" my dad says excitedly
"I wonder who that could be?" He ponders aloud.
"I know I know" I giggle.
"And who's birthday is it?" Dad questions me.
"Mine!" Bella exclaimed even louder.
"Mine too!" I say enthusiastically.
Giggles erupt from both of us as my dad hands us both a small gift wrapped present
Bella's has pink with purple polka dots paper, and I have blue paper with pink polka dots. I watch Bella rip into hers as I carefully take mine apart. Bella gets hers open first. It's a diary. I get mine open next. Mine is a diary too! We both have different colors, her is purple, and mine is pastel pink.
"Thank you daddy!" I say while running up to him and giving him a hug. Bella joins in next, hugging him on his right side, while I'm on his left.
"Of course my little flowers" he says back brightly rubbing our backs gently.
1st diary entry:
My name is Alexandra Eliza Swan, my friends call me Ally. I was born at the general hospital in Forks, WA. I'm the daughter of Charlie and Rene Swan. I have light brown hair and green eyes with amber flakes in them. I'm six years old and I'm in the first grade class at Forks elementary school. I'm so excited to see my daddy. He's the best. Bye for now.
End diary entry.
How Rene and Charlie got together:
The sun shone down across Forks, illuminating the happiness the usual gloomy weather didn't provide. Most everyone is in high spirits. The towns-people of Forks basking in the sunlight. That's how Charlie found himself walking to the local coffee shop with a smile on his face.
Getting his coffee to go, he headed back outside, turning up the road towards the small park, the heart of the town during sunny days. Soaking in all the vitamin D the weather would allow, he wouldn't pass his opportunity up. There, he saw a group of young women laughing and talking loudly amongst themselves. They're new. His hyper aware mind pushed through his thoughts.
His eyes locked onto a brunette with tan skin. Slim and petite.
Beautiful.
Charlie didn't approach, too nervous. But curious. The young women turned around and they locked eyes. Her sharp nose, bright smile, and longing green eyes stared back at him. The same thought pushed through his mind.
Beautiful.
Charlie and Rene met at the heart of the small town that day. It was love at first sight, but it wasn't meant to last. Rene was on a girls trip with her university friends, they all had warned her that charlie was a small town kinda guy, she was way out of his league. But Rene didn't listen, her heart was in control over rational thought, Charlie made her heart soar.
Rene and Charlie got together before she had to leave, and when that day finally came, she left him with a promise to return to him soon. When Rene went back to her university in Arizona, ASU, she put in a transfer request to WSU for her last two semesters.
It was two months later that she had gotten the request approved, and she officially moved to Vancouver, WA. It was only a few hours drive between her and Charlie, and they made it work, sometimes she would make the drive to forks, and sometimes he would drive to vancouver. Their love was strong.
Afer Rene got out of college, she and Charlie celebrated, going to a local bar in forks. Charlie asked a question and made a vow all in one night.
"I know this might be too fast or sound crazy, and I don't want this to ruin your night" Charlie got off the bar stool and got down on one knee and asked "Rene Fionia Higginbotham, will you marry me?"
Rene gasped, hand to her chest shocked and surprised. And with the influence of alcohol she said "yes" and hugged him tightly.
That night they had gone back to Charlie's house and made love, relishing in each other's presence. In the next few months, they had their wedding planned out, they'd agreed to get married in forks, and have her friends come out to see her at her wedding. Even though their wedding was small, it was spectacular, even if her friends didn't think so. They still had the same views as before, she was way out of his league, and she'll move on eventually. But nonetheless, they had all supported her and wished her well in her new and upcoming life.
Four months into their marriage Rene gave birth to twins, Isabella Marie Swan and Alexandra Eliza Swan. Two beautiful and healthy girls. When Bella and Alex were ten years old Rene finally made up her mind, deciding that she'd had enough of this gloomy weather, always making her feel depressed, sad, and lonely. And she hated it, she needed the sun in her life, she needed a way out. Instead of saying she wanted a divorce or even just leaving, she decided that her feelings towards this nasty place was Charlie's fault.
After a few months of feeling like she had no way out, Rene decided it was time to put her plan into action. She got mean and cold-hearted towards Charlie, even if nothing was the matter and she was having a good day, she would yell and scream at Charlie for not having enough money for her lavish lifestyle, or taking her away from her family, her friends. That her friends were right all along.
Charlie had finally snapped when Rene brought their daughters into it.
"Alexandra doesn't even look like me, we don't like the same things, she's a burden to me, to us, to this family. I mean look at her, she's not good at anything. The only thing she's good for is to make messes, and cry all damn day."
Charlie was livid, he could take her nagging at him, throwing him low blows, and on the bad days the physical violence she brought upon him. But not his pride and joys, not his daughters.
"I want a divorce Rene. You can yell and scream at me all day, hell even insult me. But you do not, will not take any of this out on my daughter. If you lay one finger on her precious head I will arrest you and throw you in prison." His words were laced with ice.
Rene immediately shut up, her mouth open agape. Then the anger came, her words rolling off of her tongue in hot waves. "You disgust me Charlie", she left to go into their room, and locked the door, slamming it hard enough that one of the pictures on the wall fell off.
"Bella, Ally, stay where you are, daddy is gonna go get a broom and dust pan" Charlie said, a sigh escaping him. His shoulders hunched in on him.
Up until the divorce, Rene would treat you differently, just like with Charlie, even if it wasn't your fault, even if you had nothing to do with it, you would be blamed.
Bella started to drift away from you, started to become like Rene more and more. You didn't know what to do. You knew your dad was stressed between being the police chief, having marriage problems, the divorce; if only you could wait just a little while longer, then you could go to your dad and tell him everything, the mistreatment from both rene and bella, the problems in school, everything.
You felt like you were trapped, everything you knew was crashing down, hard. You had no way out other than to tough it out. Every night before bed you'd think about all the good memories with Charlie, Rene, and Bella, and every night your last thought would be:
It'll be for a little while longer.
