Chapter 11 Aaron's Family

After Aaron and I got out of the hunter's cabin, we went into the woods with the two werewolf boys. He was carrying them in his arms, when one of them spoke up.

"Mister", the white haired boy suddenly said. "What's your name?"

"My name is Aaron", he replied.

"Nice to meet you, Mr Aaron", the white haired boy greeted him. "My name is Lowell! And this is my friend Jake!"

"It's nice to meet you, Lowell and Jaco…I mean Jake", Aaron greeted them. Then, he turned his head to look at the latter.

The only other time I've seen Aaron smile before was when he was with Leona sometimes. But that was totally different to the smile he had on his face when looking at Jake. I didn't know why he smiled at Jake like that, but I was about to find out.

As we were walking, Aaron suddenly came to a stop, and I saw his wolf ears perk up.

"Someone's here", Aaron said.

Just as Aaron let us know that we weren't alone, I suddenly heard howling. Then, a group of werewolves suddenly jumped out from the trees!

I hid behind Aaron as soon as I saw them. Then…one of them said his name.

When I heard it, I slowly peered my head out from behind him to see who had said his name. It was a werewolf woman, and Jake and Lowell knew her.

"Aunt Melissa", Jake exclaimed happily when he saw the woman.

"Melissa", Lowell exclaimed. Then, Aaron put him and Jake down, and they ran up to the woman they called Melissa. She kneeled down and opened her arms, and the boys ran into her embrace.

"Jake, Lowell", she said with relief in the voice. Then, she pulled away from the boys and began checking them over. "Are you two okay?! Did they hurt you?!"

"We're okay, Aunt Melissa", Jake replied.

"Mister Aaron over there rescued us from the mean hunter", Lowell said, before pointing to Aaron.

After the woman who was named Melissa made sure that Jake and Lowell were okay, she stood up, and slowly made her way to Aaron.

"Hey there, Melissa."

When Aaron greeted her, tears started forming in her eyes. Then…she punched his shoulder! Thankfuly, It didn't seem to really hurt him, because all he did was flinch slightly.

"You dummy", Melissa said angrily. "It's been five years, Aaron! Where have you been?! Why haven't you ever come back?!"

Before answering Melissa's questions, Aaron turned his head away from her. He seemed really guilty.

"I'm sorry. I thought you'd all be safer without me."

After Aaron said this, Melissa seemed to get even more angry with him.

"You dummy", she yelled out. Then, she charged at Aaron!

When Melissa charged at Aaron, I was scared that she was going to attack him. But instead…she pulled him into a hug. Tears were now streaming down her face.

"Don't you ever disappear like that on us again, Aaron. You hear me?"

Aaron didn't give Melissa an answer, but he did hug her back. They then pulled away from each other when Jake tugged on her coat.

"Aunt Melissa, Is Aaron my dad?"

As it turns out, Aaron is a father. This took me greatly by surprise.

After Jake asked if Aaron was his father, he and Melissa looked at each other. Then, she smiled and, before looking back at Jake and kneeling down in front of him.

"That's right, buddy", she replied. "This here is your dad. I told you he'd come back for you someday."

Hearing this put a big smile on Jake's face. "Really", he asked excitedly. Then, he looked at Aaron…before running into his legs and hugging them. "Dad!"

Even without his eyes covered, I could tell that Aaron wanted to cry, but I think it was tears of joy.

After his son hugged his legs, Aaron kneeled down next to him. "That's right, buddy", he said, before putting his hand on his head. "I'm your dad."

"Dad", Jake exclaimed, before throwing his arms around Aaron's neck. He froze up for a moment, before wrapping his arms around his son.

I think this was the first time I've seen Aaron happy, and that made me happy too. I watched him hug his son with a smile on my face. However, that smile quickly disappeared, because one of the werewolves suddenly grabbed onto me!

"Melissa, there's a human here", a female werewolf said as she grabbed onto Aphmau's arm.

"It's okay", Aaron said quickly. "She's with me!"

After Aaron told the werewolf that I was with him, she let go of my arm. It's a good thing she didn't grab the arm I write with, because it's still hurting.

After the werewolf let Aphmau go, she quickly ran up to Aaron.

"Aaron, who is this human", Melissa asked him.

"This is Aphmau", Aaron replied, before looking at her. "Aphmau, this is Melissa. She's my sister."

"You have a sister", Aphmau asked in shock. Then, she turned to look at Melissa, who was examining her. "Um…It's nice to meet you, Melissa! My name is Aphmau!"

After looking at her for another moment, Melissa finished examining Aphmau before changing the subject. "We should head back to the village. Lowell's dad is worried sick about him. And Mom's worried about Jake."

"Mom", Aaron asked happily.

"Just wait 'til you get a scolding from her", Melissa said. Then, she kneeled down in front of the boys. "Come on, boys. Let's get you home."

Today, I learned a bit about Aaron's family, which meant I learned a bit more about him.
