Earlier in Gym Gamma...
Midoriya noticed that him and Skylar were in the only ones in Gym Gamma this morning. He stretched once he entered, getting ready to hero train with Skylar. As he stretched his legs some more, he noticed that Skylar was really into this already. She was stretching just as much as him, which got him excited to hero train with her. He didn't know what it was about her today, but she seemed more ready to learn more and improve.
She noticed him stretching and looked like she was ready to start.
"So, what should we do first?" Skylar asked him as she finished stretching.
Midoriya remembered how bad he felt for her and decided to let her have this.
"Why don't you pick something for us to work on? It could be special moves, improving on our quirks--"
"How about all of those? We've got plenty of time to train today. We don't have any classes anyway," Skylar exclaimed with her eyes lit up.
Midoriya was surprised by her excitement and realized that she was feeling much better. He didn't know why she was so into this since last time was a little uncomfortable. She didn't even seem to be bothered by the fact that they were alone together. If anything, she seemed to prefer it over being with everyone else. He shook this weird feeling off as she faced her.
"O-Okay... but isn't that a little bit much? The last time we hero trained, things didn't exactly go to plan," Midoriya explained to her with a sweat drop around his forehead.
Skylar didn't seem to be bothered by this comment, which confused him. She just kind of brushed it off like it was nothing.
"Yeah, but I still want to improve on my quirk. If anything, I wouldn't mind learning something from you," Skylar exclaimed to him, "Your quirk is just so much more interesting than I thought it would be. I know that our quirks are similar, so maybe you could show me a move of yours. Just so I can get a feel for my own quirk and what I could improve on."
Midoriya understood what she was getting at. He could that she wanted to maybe learn a new move. He felt that dryness come up again in his throat and tried to ignore it. He went back to stretching, feeling like he could start with that. Something about him did feel a bit off for a moment as if this nightmare brought something up. He tried to shake it off and turned on One for All.
"S-Sure. I guess we could start with that," Midoriya said back, "There's this special move that I've been working on for a while now. It's kind of one of my signature moves. It helps me be more precise instead of wasting so much energy on one punch. Actually, I used to break my arms a lot because of how strong my quirk is."
Skylar looked mortified as he explained to him, and she backed up a bit.
"D-Don't worry about it. I don't have that problem anymore," Midoriya explained to her, "I can show you how it works. Maybe you can learn something from it and add your own special move."
Skylar's eyes lit up, excited to learn more. Midoriya stepped away from her just to get some distance. He grabbed his arm and got lower to the ground as he faced away from her. He aimed as if he were facing an enemy. Something about it felt a little off as One for All flowed all around him. He didn't understand why it felt so different, but he tried to focus on hero training. He felt that energy going through his entire body, and then flicked his finger out. That caused a big gust of wind to burst out of his hand, which caught Skylar's attention.
"Whoa...! That's so cool!" Skylar exclaimed to him, "You've gotta teach me that!"
Midoriya thought about it for a moment and didn't know if her quirk would work the same way with that kind of move. Besides, he didn't want her copying him. He'd feel more comfortable if she made up her own special move. It already felt weird teaching her moves like this. He was more use to training like this with AllMight and Ladybug.
"I think I'd rather you learn how to create your own move," Midoriya explained to her, "You can use mine as inspiration, but it would probably feel better to create your own. This special move was created so that I don't break my arms all the time. But as I got stronger, I haven't had any problems with that anymore."
Skylar seemed a little upset, but shook it off. She thought about it some more, and Midoriya could tell that she really wanted to create her own special move. He wondered if she even had one, unless that strong punch she did the other day was her special move. He couldn't see her not having some sort of special move, considering all of the hero training she already had. With her father around, she must've had some sort of training that helped her get recommended.
Skylar then looked at Midoriya from head to toe which made him uncomfortable. Something about her seemed interested in what he was wearing and made his face turn red. She looked specifically at his sneakers to the point where she was clearly interested in them.
"Why did you wear armor over your sneakers if you use your quirk for punching?" Skylar asked him, "It seems like wasted armor for something that could be dragging you down or holding you back."
Midoriya was surprised that she was so interested in his quirk and hero costume. He really didn't know what to think of her being so interested in learning more about him and his quirk. Something about it made his throat dry, and he fought the urge to rub his neck. He shook it off and looked down at his sneakers.
"These plates of armor help protect my legs," Midoriya said back, "I've been using my legs a lot more lately than my arms. It's actually been a big help with hero training and dealing with enemies. Besides, it helps me use my quirk to enhance my super speed."
Midoriya activated One for All, showing her how fast he can go. Suddenly wind burst out from his legs, making Skylar's hair blow around her. Her eyes widened in shock, seeing him running around so fast. He ran from one side of the gym to another, surprising himself that he was even able to do this. Something about it though did feel off ever since that nightmare he had. It felt a little more distant from some reason as it surge through him.
Then he noticed once he skidded to a stop in front of her, he felt a weird sensation coming from his throat. It felt really dry like he really needed something to drink. Something about it though felt more than just a dry throat.
"Wow! That was so fast!" Skylar exclaimed to him, "I can do some pretty cool tricks with my quirk, but sometimes it takes up a lot of energy to use it."
Midoriya tried to ignore that dryness in his throat and went back to Skylar.
"Really? What kind of tricks? Like, hand to hand combat?" Midoriya asked her, getting a little bit curious.
"Yeah, but it's more than that," Skylar said back with a smirk, "Are you interested in seeing how it works?"
Midoriya got a little worried as she got ready to use her quirk. Before he could answer her however, her eyes were already glowing blue. He could barely get ready for her to use her quirk before she was already launching right at him. Midoriya blocked her arms in defense, but she grabbed his arms tightly. He tried to use his quirk, but she wasn't letting him activate it in time. Skylar's eyes glowed so brightly then he couldn't look away. Something about her felt much stronger and reminded him of Chrysalis with how strong she was.
Before he could do anything, he felt her let go of him. She quickly spun around him and punched him in the forearm. He tried to avoid her, but she kept punching him but for some reason, it wasn't as hard as her usually punches. She was being precise and kept avoiding his own punches. He tried to activate One for All, but she wasn't letting up on him. She knew how to dodge and weave around him, which just got him all confused when she avoided him so fluidly. She kept going for a few punches, but soon she backed off.
Midoriya was confused, but tried to figure out what she was planning on doing. When he went to use his quirk, something about it hurt to even use it. He tried to launch after her, but his legs felt like jelly. He fell over, but caught himself. His arms felt like jelly though as well, which made them shake a lot.
"W-What... What did you to me...?" Midoriya asked her as he tried to get up.
"I punched your pressure points. It helps take down enemies faster with less effort," Skylar explained to him, "I learned this from my father. He knows his way around stuff like this."
Midoriya tried to get up, but that just made him fall over even more.
"Don't worry about it. It'll wear off soon enough," Skylar told him.
Midoriya got confused as to why she wanted to learn more special moves. This alone was strong enough to help her deal with enemies. He looked up to see Skylar looking down at him. Something about her seemed like she wanted this moment between them. She wanted to be alone with him to show off what she could do with her quirk.
Before he could get up, a few other classmates came into Gym Gamma. Midoriya heard them coming in, but couldn't see who it was. He tried to get up, but that only made him fall to the ground.
"Midoriya!" Kirishima cried out, "What happened to you?"
Kirishima, Bakugo and Queen Bee came running over to him in their hero costumes as Kirishima tried to help him up. Bakugo helped him as well, noticing that he was struggling to get up. They all looked at Skylar who was just standing there.
"Skylar. What the hell did you do to him?" Bakugo growled at her.
"I just hit some pressure points. Don't worry about it. It'll wear off soon," Skylar said to him.
Midoriya tried to shake it off as they helped him, but he could barely stand on his own. His legs felt so wobbly that he felt himself falling over again. Kirishima helped him from doing so, and he thanked him. Bakugo stared daggers at Skylar, which caught Midoriya's attention.
"You shouldn't have done that. You could've messed with his quirk," Bakugo growled at her.
Midoriya's eyes widened in shock, worried that One for All was messed with. He noticed that he couldn't use it properly, but could slowly feel it building back up. He still felt some weird dryness in his throat, but it felt much more like a burning sensation. It was subtle, but it was there. He didn't understand why he felt this way, but it felt so natural for some reason. He rubbed his throat, feeling a cough coming on.
That caught everyone's attention, and Bakugo looked back to see Midoriya coughing. He almost fell over from the pressure points, but Kirishima held him up.
"Whoa... I've got you Midoriya..." Kirishima said to him.
Midoriya felt his throat get a weird burning sensation that kept coming. He didn't know why it burned so much, but kept coughing from the pain. Bakugo looked confused and walked over to him with a worried expression on his face.
"Izuku. What's wrong?" Bakugo asked him, "Is it your throat?"
"Y-Yeah... I-It's... b-burning a lot..." Midoriya told him as he coughed pretty badly, "I-It w-won't go away..."
Midoriya tried to walk away as he coughed, but Kirishima kept him close by. He could barely walk away, so Kirishima and Bakugo helped him out.
"You need to go see Recovery Girl. You might be coming down with something," Kirishima told him.
"The pressure points might've thrown you off a bit. I'm sure you'll be fine in a few minutes," Skylar explained to him, "Your quirk is strong, I'm sure it can handle it."
Bakugo couldn't take this anymore and stood up to her.
"You don't know what the hell you're talking about! Izuku's quirk is not something to mess with!" Bakugo yelled at her, "Whatever hero training you were doing, you need to stop this now. You and your father might've trained differently back in Paris, but it's different here. You're in U.A. now, get used to it, or you'll have me to deal with."
Midoriya looked back at Bakugo and Skylar, worried for them both. He then noticed Skylar and something about her gave him chills. Her eyes looked different and something about her felt like a completely different person. She stood tall as Bakugo never looked away from her. Something about Skylar made Midoriya feel like Bakugo should stay away from her. For a moment, he thought he remembered something about her quirk that felt familiar.
It was there, and then it the pressure points made him feel like jelly again.
"Bakugo, we need to help Midoriya," Kirishima said back.
Midoriya watched Bakugo walk away from Skylar, who was a little annoyed that this was happening. As they left the gym, Skylar stayed behind. He noticed in the corner of his eye, Skylar looked a little frustrated about something.
He didn't know why, but something about it really bothered him.
Kirishima and Bakugo both helped him get over to Recovery Girl's nurse's office. Queen Bee walked alongside them, hoping to help him if they needed it. Midoriya felt the coughing come up again, that burning sensation not letting up. Something about it felt natural, and he couldn't shake off this feeling. Midoriya could feel it wearing off, but his throat felt so dry and sore. He could barely get himself to talk as they made their way towards the school.
"Don't worry Midoriya. We're almost there," Kirishima said to him.
"This is so weird. Izuku looked like he was feeling fine when he left the dormitory," Queen Bee explained to them, "Why would Skylar's pressure points make him feel this way?"
Bakugo and Midoriya shared a look, and Midoriya knew that this was more than just the pressure points. Skylar hit something that made him react this way. He felt his arms becoming less like jelly as they headed over there. He still couldn't move them all that much, but he remembered how weird Skylar was towards him. She was really interested in knowing more about his quirk, which shouldn't be a big deal. Something about it however seemed a bit off.
She already had all of these amazing special moves, so he didn't understand why she wanted to learn more.
It's all he could think about as more coughing came up from his throat. They all soon made their way towards the nurse's office and headed over there right away. Once they entered the Nurse's office, Recovery Girl was already there.
"Recovery Girl. We need help with Midoriya," Kirishima told her, "He was hero training and started coughing really badly."
Recovery Girl got down to business and got the nearest bed ready to settle him down. She set up the pillows upright so he could sit up. Kirishima and Bakugo tried to get him over to the bed, but Midoriya still felt a little like jelly. That seemed to catch Recovery Girl's eye.
"What happened during hero training here? Did you push yourself too hard again?" Recovery Girl asked him.
"N-No... I-I j-just..." Midoriya tried to say, but started coughing again.
Midoriya's cough sounded so dry that they backed away from how much it must've hurt. Even Recovery Girl was thrown off by his sudden out burst of coughing.
"He was hero training with Skylar. You must know about her by now," Queen Bee told her, "Her and Izuku were hero training. She said something about hitting his pressure points, whatever that means."
Recovery Girl's eyes widened in shock, and Midoriya knew that she shouldn't have done that sort of special move. She checked on him as they waited for her to say something. She checked his arms and legs, and they were still feeling a little like jelly. He could feel them starting to go back to normal as she checked him however. She even checked on his throat, which seemed to catch her attention.
They all waited for her to say something as she felt his forehead.
"Well? Does he have a fever or something?" Kirishima asked her a little worried.
"No. He definitely doesn't have a fever," Recovery Girl told them, "He must've had a weird reaction to Skylar hitting some of his pressure points. Sometimes that can cause someone to react differently depending on where they were hit. I'm guessing that you two were hero training for this to happen?"
Midoriya flinched, wondering what she might do if she something to him.
"Y-Yes. W-We... were..." Midoriya said through his painful cough.
"Old granny. Izuku has exactly been feeling that greatest this morning," Bakugo explained to her, "He had a dry throat earlier. Something is clearly bothering him."
Midoriya shared a look with Bakugo, and he knew that there was something else going on. He hoped that it wasn't anything more than a stubborn cough that wouldn't go away. Whatever was going on, he felt the burning sensation starting to dissipate. Even his arms felt less like jelly as he flexed them a little.
"It looks like it's wearing off," Recovery Girl said to him, "Whatever Skylar did to you, you might want to stop hero training with her. That special move of hers might mess with things that you don't want to be damaged."
Midoriya's eyes widened in shock, really not sure what to think of Skylar at the moment. Just when things were looking good for them two, Skylar seemed to be suspicious again. He didn't understand where this was coming from. That feeling of being intimidated by her came up again, remembering how she looked at him the other night. Something about her seemed different now, and he didn't know why.
Before he could say anything, AllMight came barging into the Nurse's office along with Mr. Aizawa. He instantly locked eyes with Midoriya and came over to see him right away. He was confused as to how he even knew that he was here. Not only that, but he looked like he knew what was going on with him and Skylar.
"Young Midoriya. Are you okay?" AllMight asked him, "Nothing broken?"
"U-Umm... N-No... but how did you--"
"There are security cameras around Gym Gamma. We saw you and Skylar hero training just now. Rena Rouge has been looking through them, and we saw you and Skylar hero training together," Mr. Aizawa explained to him.
Midoriya wasn't surprised by that, but wasn't expecting AllMight to come running through those doors. Something about it though made him feel a lot better seeing him by his side. He noticed that his throat felt like the burning sensation was going away, but it still felt dry. Once he coughed however, Recovery Girl gave him some water. He gulped it down and felt water drip down his chin.
He drank all of it, but it still felt dry. Letting out a sigh, he felt his throat getting sore.
"Why won't this burning sensation go away?" Midoriya asked without meaning to.
Bakugo seemed to notice, and they both shared a look that reminded them of what happened this morning. Even AllMight seemed interested in what was going on with him.
"Burning sensation? Do you have a fever Young Midoriya?" AllMight asked him as he checked his forehead.
Midoriya felt red around his face once AllMight checked on him. He tried to wave him off, but he wasn't letting up on him.
"I-I'm alright AllMight. I-I just..." Midoriya trailed off noticing all of the people in the room.
He didn't want to talk about this with so many people here. AllMight was the only one that he felt like he could talk to about this. Something about it felt embarrassing, but remembered that everyone knew about his quirk. He didn't have to hold back like he used to. For a moment, he had forgotten all about that. He remembered his nightmare making him feel these sort of things that threw him off.
Midoriya couldn't stand this weird feeling any longer. He had to tell AllMight about this.
"AllMight... There's something that I need tell you..."
Another amazing chapter!
I really like where this is going. It's still hard to figure out at times, but I do love how this is turning out. I like where Skylar's story is heading. Midoriya and Skylar's hero training got a little weird, but it'll be explained later. Some things are still kind of up in the air, but I like where it's heading. Don't worry, I wanted it to take awhile so you get to know the characters better. I think it will make things play out better that way. Midoriya is on his way to the nurse's office, but Skylar is still acting off...
What's going to happen next??
More to come soon!
