Chapter Thirteen:
You go to sleep early that night, needing to wake up extra early for school. You sleep comfortably in your new sheets and bedding. When you wake up the next day, you have 2- hours before you have to leave.
You take a shower, taking extra time to let the hot spray run over your body. When you get out, you throw on some black skinny jeans, and a band T-shirt. After you get dressed you head downstairs, to the kitchen. Knowing Charlie will be up soon, you start a pot of coffee, and start making breakfast. You make scrambled eggs, bacon, with pillsbury biscuits. After the eggs and bacon are done, you throw in the biscuits. Giving you just enough time to make lunch for you and your dad.
You make 2 turkey sandwiches, grabbing 2 oranges, 2 grandma bars, 2 yogurts, and 2 drinks. You pack the lunch bags, making sure that the sandwiches are on top, not wanting them to get squished. As soon as you get done the kitchen timer goes off, signaling that the biscuits are done. You pull them out of the oven almost dropping the tray when you see Charlie standing there.
"You scared me dad" you shout, putting a hand on your chest.
"Sorry sweetheart, didn't mean to startle you. You made breakfast and lunch?" He asks.
"Yeah, I hope it's okay. We get an orange, turkey sandwich, a drink, a granola bar, and a yogurt" you say.
"Sounds good" he says, pouring himself a cup of coffee, sitting at his usual spot at the dining table. You smile and make a plate for him bringing it over.
You set it in front of him "here you go" you say. Leaving to make your own plate of food. You and your dad eat your food in silence, drinking your coffee. Once you both Finish you take the plates in and put them in the dishwasher, seeing that it's full, you put in a tablet and start it.
Charlie just left for work at the police station, you glance at the time and mutter "oh shit".
You hurriedly grab your school bag and car keys, and head out the front door making sure to lock it. You go out to your car praying that it'll warm up fast. Your passenger door, and toss your bag in and ahead your coat and toss it in too. You run around to the drivers side and get in. Starting your car, it comes to life, purring.
You wait about 5 minutes, before you put in reverse and back out of your driveway. The drive to school was uneventful , as you blasted your rock music, with the base turned all the way up. When you get to school, you see Jasper. You lock eyes, and you both smile at each other. You see Alice nudge him forward. That's when he starts walking to you. You internally panic, thinking of all the staring you'll get when you walk in the school with Jasper. You're not a big social butterfly, you're quite shy.
Jasper reaches you at a human speed and whispers in your ear "mornin' darlin'".
You smile at the nickname "morning cowboy" you say back.
You both have grins plastered to your face. He reaches out his hand, and you take it in yours. Feeling giddy and smiling to yourself.
You start walking into school, giving a power couple vibe. All the girls openly stare and glare at you. Your close friends smile at you, and it's refreshing for you. Jasper walks you to your first period, calculus. After dropping you off, you sit next to one of your best friends, Angela.
"Hey," you wave to her, then sit next to her.
She says "hey" back. She turned to you, about ready to ask you a question. You turn to her and give her your full attention.
"So what was up with Jasper this morning?" She asks suggestively.
"Oh, nothing" you say back to her smiling at her.
You both giggle at the same time.
The teacher looks to the both of you and says "girls if you cannot behave, I will have you sent to the principal's office". You both immediately quiet. You turn back to her and mouth out sorry. Angela nods at the apology accepted.
It's now lunch time, after PE, English, and Art class. You sit at your friends table, looking over to Jasper and his table every now and then.
"So what's up with you and Cullen?" Jessica asks snarky.
You give her a sideways glance "nothing much" you say back politely.
Jessica is in your friend group, but the two of you kind of butted heads. Jessica wasn't always the kindest person. And she has a different view on life than you, which is fine and all. But she always tries to start things.
"Really? Cause that whole walk you to class thing seems more than nothing" Jessica says rudely.
"Well Jess, it doesn't really concern you" you say getting fed up with her antics.
"What do you mean doesn't concern me? I have been trying to get with one of them for 2 years now, and all of a sudden you. The fat bitch takes what's mine" Jessica all but yells at the table, laughing at the end.
Everyone at the table looks at Jessica stunned and appalled.
"What, it's a joke." Jessica says. There's just silence "you know I was joking, right Ally? I would never mean that" Jessica says to you. Trying to take the victim role.
Jasper was sitting across the lunch room listening in on your conversation. When he heard it, that's why Edward smiled right before the filth left Jessica's mouth, I snarled.
Emmit grabbed me before I could do anything, and I know in my head that he is doing the right thing, but I wasn't in charge, it is my instincts. Not even the major side could get past that. I snarled at him, my mate needs me, when he wouldn't let go, I grasped onto his emotions, and started to crush them.
He growled out in pain and a sadistic part of me is very happy. When he let go I went over to her. I grabbed my mate gently, and walked her over to my table with my family. Edward was still there which annoyed me, but I didn't focus on him.
My mate needed me, and I'll be more damned than I already am if I don't help her. I set her in my lap in the chair, my eyes were black, I could feel it. I heard her sniffle into my chest, I could smell the salt from her tears, and I could feel the wetness of them on my skin through my shirt. I growled quietly in my chest. And I could feel her relax into me. I hugged her tighter, sending waves of calm to her.
I felt her head move, and I looked down to see her looking back up to me. Even though her eyes were puffy and red, and her face was red, she is still the most beautiful person here.
"Jasper" she whispered my name.
"Yes little mate" I whispered back.
"Thank you" she said, clinging to me tighter.
"Anytime darlin'" I said back.
She graced me with a beautiful smile. I kissed her forehead gently.
The lunch bell sounded startling to my mate, and I growled out to curse the thing. But it was the end of lunch. And I had to let her go.
"Jasper" she whined out.
"Shhh. I know." I said unhappy that it's over. I walked her to her next class. We don't have this one together, but the last two we do. I just hope that I can still keep her happy until our next class. I kissed her passionately on the lips, and she responded back immediately, fueling the fire that burned beneath my cold skin.
I let her go. And watched her walk inside. I hurried to my next class that I've taken for decades.
I walked into my class, I had Tyler and Mike in this one. I sigh mentally, already knowing that they don't like the Cullens, and will almost always take Jessica's side, especially Mike.
The boys sat next to each other and your seat was typically between them, but today looks like I'm sitting on the end. Which is fine, just slightly different.
I'm calm, cool, and collected.
I kept repeating in my mind, making my way over to them with hesitant steps. Getting ready for the onslaught of things they might do or say, my nerves flare.
How I wish I had Jasper to calm me down right now.
I finally make my way to the table, setting my bag on the floor, the boys immediately stop talking.
I take my seat, when Mike speaks up. "So are you going to prom?"
"I don't think so," I replied, my palms began to sweat.
"Do you want to go with me?" Mike asks.
"No, thank you. I think you should ask Jessica that" I say, trying to deflect some of the attention off of me. While letting him down gently.
"Are you going with that Cullen freak?" Tyler asks, a scowl painting his face harshly.
My throat closes up slightly. "I don't know" I say looking away.
"You are, aren't you?" Mike says harshly.
"I don't know" I say a little louder than necessary, anger getting the best of me.
"Look, you either are or you aren't. And if you're not, why not come with me?" Mike demands.
"Why can't you take no for an answer?" I bite out.
"Because I want to take you" Mike says, anger clouding his judgment.
"Look, I said no. And that's it. I'm not changing my mind" I bite back. My voice dying off to a whisper at the end.
"You're going to regret that" Mike says glaring at me.
"Yeah," Tyler says, agreeing with Mike.
"Can we just focus on our school work" I say ignoring the threats they just made at me.
They grumble, and I get a wave of dread, my stomach drops, feeling like a huge weight.
Sighing I try to put my nerves to the side, and fail at doing so.
They keep taunting me, with the little things, like harsh looks, smiling at someone and then scowling at me. I'm hyper aware of it all. I'm so on edge around them right now.
By the time class is almost over, I have a headache, and my nerves are fried. Counting down the minutes, which feels like hours, the bell finally rings. I grab my bag that I had slowly started to fill during class with my stuff, and practically run out the classroom door.
I briskly walk to my next class. Sadly, Tyler and Mike will be in that one too. I will at least have Jasper.
