Chapter Eighteen:

Bella comes tomorrow, the Cullens are on edge, between Alice's new vision and Edward being AWOL.

I have been staying at their house after school and during the weekends. Of course still being there for dad, and making him dinner.

He understands where I'm coming from, wanting to be around Jasper and his family. Which brings me back out of my thoughts and to the current discussion the family is having.

"We can't let Alice's vision come true" Rosilie states a little bit harshly.

"We will do everything we can to make this not happen" Carlisle says calmly.

"What can I do?" I ask gently.

The family turns to me, I slightly shrink back against their intense gazes.

"We don't know yet honey" Esme says gently, her motherly presence never faulting.

"We'll come to that possibly later" Carlisle says, his calm demeanor never fading.

Jasper grasped my hand, I looked at our hands, fingers intertwined. I smiled up at him, and he leaned down slightly and kissed my hairline.

I blush at the public display of affection. The discussion carries on.

"Edward thinks Bella is his mate," Jasper says against my skin.

"What if she doesn't have to know, this way there will be no threat from her" I say gently, knowing that everyone can hear me.

"Ally is right. If we keep our distance from Bella, never bring her into the supernatural world, then she won't even have to know about vampires, blood singers, and mates. It would keep the problem from becoming a problem" Carlisle says to everyone.

The whole coven nods at the suggestion.

"That could work," Rosilie says.

Emmitt nods with her.

Jasper smiles at me "Good job darlin'".

"Then let's take it to a vote" Carlisle says.

The whole coven raises their hands, "Ally, with you being Jasper's mate, you get a say too" Carlisle says.

I give off a cheeky smile as I raise my hand as well.

"With that settled, now all we have to worry about is Edward. I want Alice to show Edward the vision of her being his blood singer. Maybe that way he'll leave her alone" Carlisle says gently.

Alice nods in agreement. Carlisle nods and stands, Esme stands with him, and they walk out of the living room together, into his study.

With them signaling the end of the meeting, the rest of the family stands up and goes their separate ways with their mates.

Jasper stands, and offers you his hand.

"Are you staying the night or do I need to take you home?" Jasper asks, after helping me stand.

"Dad gave me permission to stay the night." I say with a little bit too much enthusiasm.

Jasper chuckles, and begins to lead me upstairs, his bedroom is the last one on the left, walking past all the other bedrooms you peek inside discreetly, seeing that none of the other rooms have beds in them.

Once the both of you make it to his bedroom and close the door. "

Hey Jazz, why does only your room have a bed in it" I ask him.

"We'll it's kind of a sad story" he says, leading you over to his bed.

You both sit down, with you admiring the soft plushiness of it "it's so soft" you say aloud.

Jasper hums in agreement. "When I was still human, my family and I, we didn't have all that much money, we didn't have beds.

My siblings and I, we had to sleep on the ground or on top of rough blankets. And when I joined the army, they gave us straw mats to sleep on.

And still never really having a bed even after I was changed and with Maria. So now that I'm here, I figured it was time to have a nice quality bed" Jasper finishes his story.

"Wow" I say. I scoot over to him, and give him a warm hug "I'm sorry Jazz" I say looking up to him through my lashes.

"It's okay darlin'", he says and leans down to peck my lips. I smile into this kiss. He pulls away

It was sometime later that interest peaked within your mind

"Jazz?" I question gently.

"Yes sweetheart?" he says to me.

We've begun to cuddle on his bed, with him spooning me, his coolness is very soothing.

"What was your life like before you were turned?" I question gently.

I can feel Jasper tense lightly, probably from some painful memories. Jasper lets out a breath of air that tickles my ear and neck. "Well my mother, she had green eyes and blond hair, and my father he had dark brown hair and blue eyes.

When I was born I had blond hair and green eyes.

I remember my siblings having similar features, my brother Thomas, he had light brown hair with blue eyes. And my sister Charlotte, she was exactly like my mom, green eyes and blond hair.

Both of my parents served in the war of northern aggression, my father losing his life after one year. It broke my moms heart when she found out, and she soon followed in his footsteps and became a nurse for the injured.

I was eighteen when she passed after catching some disease from a wounded soldier. That's when I joined. That's why I joined, it was to protect my family.

They still had my older brother to help them get along into their own lives. As far as they were concerned they thought of me as dead after a year and a half." Jasper pauses, sucking in a breath through his nose, which is buried in my neck.

Drinking in your scent, he calms down. He didn't expect all of the memories to come flooding back. With his eyes closed, he can feel this fill up with venom tears that would never fall.

"Jasper" he hears her whisper.

Her voice sounds so broken. "I'm okay darlin', and it was just part of my past, that's all. Nothing to worry about my love" He says pulling away from you just enough to look into your eyes.

The next morning, I woke up to Jasper lying next to me. He perks up when he sees me open my eyes.

My eyes roam over his features after laying next to me. I'd imagine he was mimicking sleeping.

His hair is ruffled on one side, and messily flat one the other, no doubt from the pillow.

His clothes are wrinkled, compared to his typically clean, crisp, and wrinkle free shirts. He unbuttoned two of his buttons from his dress shirt.

His chiseled chest, with defined muscles peaking through. Even with the scars that littered his body, He looked god-like.

My handsome cowboy.

A smile graces my lips.

"See something you like?" Jasper says.

His words immediately snap me out of my impure thoughts. I blush deeply, crimson painting my face, as I hide behind my hands in embarrassment.

I hear him chuckle gently, as he reaches from my arms. I feel a cool gentle grasp on me, gently pulling my arms from my face.

"You're beautiful when you blush" He says quietly.

"Jazz" I say in an equally quiet voice as tears come to my eyes "Thank you".

"Of course ma'am" He says, tipping an invisible cowboy hat.

Giggles erupt from my chest and out of my mouth, "You know, one of these days I'm going to get you a real cowboy hat".

This time Jasper laughs, a full, heartfelt laugh.

Everything gets interrupted when my cell phone rings.

Jasper grabs it for me, and hands it over "it's your sister". He says.
