Chapter Twenty:
Jasper's shaking subsided when the Black's left.
"Jazz?" I question, gently pulling him to my car. "Are you okay?".
He brings me close, a tight hug envelops my frame, as I put my arms around his neck.
He murmurs something I couldn't pick up on. But I didn't care, I am too wrapped up in what's going on with him.
I can feel the mate bond, it's like a thick string tugging on me, making me go to him. I can feel our bond pulse, it's not a mental feeling or even a physical one. It's like an instinct.
"Jasper" I whisper so quietly.
"I love you Ally" he finally says after silence, no doubt feeling the bond pull and pulse "I'm okay now darlin'". He says after breathing in my scent.
Jasper and I, we are comfortable in each other's arms, holding each other close, not wanting to let go. Him leaning against my car, his strong arms wrapped around my middle, we are so close I can feel his muscles digging into me comfortably.
He pulls away slightly and looks to his left, "Your dad is coming" he says quietly, as if he talked too loud it would break the silence around us.
I snuggle into him tighter, I don't want to let go just yet. I look to my left, my dads police cruiser is barely visible to the human eye.
"You should probably go soon," I say, looking up to him.
He hums a response.
My dads car pulls up next to us, light rock music coming from the car, as Charlie opens his door and steps out.
"Dad!" I exclaim, as Jasper lets me go. I jog over to him, my cheeky smile on display, pulling him into a bone crushing hug.
His arms encircle me "Hey honey" he says with a bright smile on his face.
To think this could all go away in a few days. I can hear how tired he is.
Dad lets me go from our hug and looks over to Jasper and then back to me, a question on the tip of his tongue.
"He's not coming with us dad" I say gently.
As much as I want him to, we can risk Bella finding out.
"I have dinner plans with my family" He says, one hand rubbing the back of his neck.
That's one thing that Jasper can't do to save his life. He can't lie.
He had told me at one point, it was how his parents raised him, and that it was a huge sin to do so. So he didn't, and still doesn't. I giggle within my mind, and I can see him giving me 'the look'.
Giggles erupt out of my mouth.
Dad looks at me like I'm crazy, and Jasper gives me a loving expression.
As quickly as they came my giggles subside.
My dad sighs "I'm gonna head inside and clean up real quick. And then we'll leave to get Bella".
"Okay dad" I say, giving him a soft smile.
I look over to Jasper, who's holding my hand again, "I'm gonna go home darlin'".
"Okay Jazz" I say with a pout forming on my lips.
Dad looks over to us and smiles, before heading inside.
Once Jasper leaves, I head inside, up to my room. I quickly change into clothes that don't smell like Jasper. While it makes my heart sad, I don't want to attract the attention of Bella, and explain my boyfriend.
I hear dad turn off the shower, while I change into some light blue skinny jeans and a light pink sweater. Even though I know I shouldn't, I throw on one of Jasper's hoodies, it doesn't smell like him anymore, but it still brings the same amount of comfort. I smile as I look myself over in the mirror, my reflection mirroring the oversized sweatshirt on my frame.
I step out of my room and walk downstairs. I wait for dad for a few minutes before I hear the familiar creeks of the wooden floor. Watching him descend the stairs, I notice his appearance, plaid shirt tucked into his dark blue jeans, belt buckle on display.
I giggle slightly.
Dad gives me a look of 'shut up'.
Dad grabs his keys, and I grab my house keys, we walk out of the front door, and I lock it. Heading out to the cruiser, which will be much to Bella's dismay. We get in, and Dad starts to drive over to the Port Angeles Airport.
When we arrive at the Arrivals and Drop-offs, I get out to the sea of people, arriving to go on vacations or business, and people coming back from their trips. I see the doors to the inside of the airport while dad waits in the car with it running.
I head inside, looking to the dark corner seeing Bella standing there. The light around her is dimmer than the whole airport, cascading shadows around her like beasts at her command. She looks more sickly than her usual self. Pale skin, not helped by her dark hair that frames her face, causing her features to darken.
We lock eyes, hers appear to look sunken in, hollow. She turns around, and flips her oily hair back. I scoff, as I know she saw me.
I walk over to where she's standing, and gently place my hand on her shoulder. I almost get an elbow to the face as she turns around.
"Bella!" I exclaim, avoiding her attempted attack.
Bella doesn't say anything, she just stands there. That's when I notice the bags. She has two suitcases, a travel bag, and the backpack she's carrying.
I sigh, knowing I won't be able to really get anything out of her tonight.
"Dad is waiting for us outside at the pick up location" I say, trying to at least get some kind of reaction from her.
Bella just starts walking. When she looks back she scoffs loudly.
I watch a few bystanders quickly turn their heads at the noise.
"Well are you going to just stand there like an idiot or are you going to help me carry my bags?!" Bella all but screams high pitched.
It takes a few seconds for my ears to calm down from the intrusion. I grab her two suitcases and put her carry on on top of one of them, and start to awkwardly walk out.
Her bags are incredibly heavy.
What did she do, pack everything but the kitchen sink?
My internal monologue rolls through my head. I chuckle under my breath. I make it to the automatic doors, Bella has already gone through, I can see her pushing and shoving past people.
Damn, she must not like it here at all.
I can see dad standing by his cruiser, flagging down Bella and I.
I let out a soft sigh, followed by a smile.
