Chapter Twenty-Nine:
Heading to my room, I pass by Bella's. I'm hoping that I'll be quiet enough that she won't hear me. But with my luck that won't happen. I reach my door about to place my hand on my door knob when I hear her door open aggressively.
"What's your problem?" Bella asks.
"Nothing" I answer flatly.
"You sure? That whole display of your pathetic attempt to keep him was useless" Bella says weirdly proud.
Between the way Jasper was acting in school earlier. And Bella now. I begin to connect the dots. "What did you do?" I demand.
"I just made sure that people know how you bagged a Cullen" She says, a ugly grin forming.
"Bella! What did you do?!" I ask more aggressively. Grabbing her shoulders enough for her to know I wasn't messing around.
"You wanna add abuse to that rap sheet, whore!" Bella shrieks.
Immediately dropping my arms, I back away from her. I can't believe she would ever go this low. "How. How could you?"
"It was easy." She said pridefully. She walked back into her room and slammed the door closed.
I stood in the hallway, between our rooms. I was shocked.
She told everyone at school the only way I got Jasper was by being a whore? This is a small town, gossip spreads like wildfire here. What about my future? Did she even think?
I check my pocket for my phone and keys. Making sure I have both, I run outside. The backyard practically connects with the woods.
Running past trees, going deeper and deeper, I'm not paying attention to my surroundings. I just need a distraction right now. I continue running until my surroundings become unfamiliar.
Grabbing my phone out, I was going to call Jasper, but I didn't have any signal. So that's out of the question.
Oh shit.
I wrap my arms around myself, and start walking back, or at least I hope I am. I'm only surrounded by woods. I start to panic slightly.
Jasper. Jasper. Jasper.
I chant in my head like it would make him appear in front of me somehow.
Jasper POV:
I arrive home, shutting off my truck. Stepping out, I head into our house. Kicking off my shoes and placing them in my room. I speed down the stairs into the living room where the rest of the coven is gathered.
"Jasper, I heard the rumors today," Rosalie says gently.
A growl begins to form in my chest. "Bella" is all I need to say.
"Bella did this?" Alice asks.
"Yes. She was upset and jealous that Ally already has a "Cullen" boyfriend" I bite out.
"Can't we just kill her?" Rose voices out.
Carlisle gives her a pointed look "you know our standards in this coven Rosalie".
"Surely something can be done about this though" Esme says gently.
"Yes, perhaps" Carlisle says in thought.
The meeting gets interrupted when Alice gasps. "Jasper, Ally."
Dread washes over me. "What." I growl out. My inner vampire snarling.
"I-I can't tell where. Woods. Alone." Alice says, digging deeper into her vision.
Any restraint I have snaps. I leave my room as quickly as possible and put my shoes back on. Jumping out a window, I land crouched, glass sprays around me.
I run into the woods, I'm trying to track her scent. I haven't picked anything up yet. I snarl into the woods, it's deadly quiet. I try to track her through our bond.
It's still there, so she's still alive.
Grasping at the mental teather's, I try to reach out to her. But we're too far away. The sun is slowly setting, but there's still enough daylight for humans.
Stopping and closing my eyes, a gust of wind blows in my direction. It carries her scent with it. My eyes snap open, black, red, and gold line my iris'.
Heading in the direction the wind came from, her scent becomes stronger. Another scent is added to it as well.
Vampire.
I run quicker, to where my defenceless mate is. Snarling I come into a clearing. Her scent is strong here. I focus on the area. Listening, I pick up on her heartbeat, blood flowing.
Human. Mate.
The vampire is nearby. I can smell them strongly. Circling the area.
Protect. Kill.
A hissing growl leaves my throat. I run to my mate as I lock eyes with the other vampire in the forest. My body is tense as I couch above her.
The vampire snarls at me. Running at my mate and I. When they get close enough I go to throw them away when I get shoved back by whatever power they have.
My body goes through multiple trees, knocking them down. I snarl as I'm away from my mate. Running back over, I lock onto their emotions and send waves of pain and agony. Enough to make anything crumble.
The vampire snarls and drops to their knees. I kick their head from their body. The body falling next to my mate. Snarling I tear them apart, first their arms are ripped away, then their legs are next. Once I'm satisfied with their demise. I turn to my mate.
I'm too far gone right now. I can't process anything. My instincts scream that it's not safe here. Picking her up bridal style. I ran back to my house.
Once we get there, I scent out the area. No new vampire smells. I head inside the front door, and when my coven sees me carrying my mate, they all start to come closer. I snarl, it echoes throughout the house.
"Everyone, move back slowly" Carlisle orders.
Everyone takes steps back, heading out of the house.
I ran her up to my room, shutting and locking the door. I set her gently on my bed as I begin pacing, quiet growls and snarls leaving me.
I'm still so on edge. The beast inside me has receded mostly, but I'm still being driven by it. My head snaps up at a slight movement.
It's just my mate.
Wait, is she okay?
"Okay?" I voice out, a growl laced through it.
She nods yes.
I watch her, scenting her for anything physical. Besides her racing heart, she seems fine. I start to calm down knowing now that she's safe and protected.
Once I'm calm enough, my instincts and Major recede to the back of my mind, I grasp onto her emotions. I've never felt them like this.
"Ally, what can I do to help?" I ask her gently.
She jumps, probably not expecting me to be able to form full sentences yet. She doesn't reply, just grabs me and hugs me tightly.
My arms go around her, and being mindful of my strength hug her back tightly.
"It's okay, I'm here now" I shush her gently as I begin to feel her body tremble in my hold.
"I'm sorry" she repeats over and over again, as she sobs.
"Nothing to be sorry for, doll" I say gently to her as I place one of my hands on the back of her head. The other is doing slow circles on her back.
After some time has passed, and she's calmed down some, I break the silence. "What made you go out into the woods without letting me know?".
"I-After. No." She fumbles over her words. Taking a deep breath she continues. "I was heading to my room, and Bella caught me right before I was gonna go in. She told me what she said in school about me, us.
She ruined my reputation, Jas. And my dads. And your families. It's a small town. Gossip like that spreads like wildfire. I'm almost a senior, no one will help the school slut get into college."
I was still angry over that. Bella needs to know when to keep her mouth closed. A growl formed in my chest as I wanted to comfort my darlin'.
She leaned into my embrace as I started to purr. With her taking comfort in the vibrations. And I take comfort in her scent and presence.
"I ran out to the woods because I was angry and hurt. I wasn't thinking clearly. And when I did think to call you, I didn't have a signal. I'm sorry Jas." She took a deep breath and continued. "I didn't mean for any of that to happen. Thank you for saving me. I know that couldn't have been easy on you. Not knowing…" She trailed off, seemingly lost in her thoughts.
"I'm fine now sweetheart. No need to worry." I said, trying to comfort her.
Her phone buzzed. Picking it up, I saw she has two missed phone calls from her dad, and five texts.
Where are you?
Are you okay?
Bella said you never came home. Where are you?
Missed Call.
Are you with Jasper?
Missed Call.
Call me. Now.
I read the texts with her. I watched as she called her dad. It rang once before he picked up.
"Alexandra. Are you okay?" Charlie asks, frantic. I can hear the stress and worry in his voice.
"I'm okay dad. I just-Bella and I fought and it was really bad. Nothing physical. I just needed to get away." Ally said into her phone.
"Okay honey. But why could you not answer your phone or at least send me a text to let me know youre okay?" he asks.
"I went for a run. I didn't have a signal. I ran into Jasper a little bit later. He gave me a lift to his place." She says.
"Okay honey. I'm glad you're safe. If you end up staying the night there, send me a text." Charlie says, relief clear in his voice.
"Okay dad, I will. Thank you" Ally says with a small sniffle at the end.
"Well I gotta get going. I love you." He says.
"I love you too. Bye" she says in a slightly better mood.
She pulls the phone away from her ear, her dad already having hung up.
"You can stay the night if you want to." I said to her.
She nods yes.
