Talking about it didn't help, in fact, for her, it made it worse. Miroku did his best and most of the time it was a simple rite but this whole thing was starting to really bother her.

But she gave her word, she would not allow her personal affairs to interfere.

She bowed three times to the makeshift shrine on the ground. Getting up after was not easy.

"I thought Miko's were not allowed to commit sin,"

"It is rude to interrupt," She said

"It is deadly not to be aware of what is around you,"

She turned to look at him "I knew you were there I chose to ignore you because that is what I am trained to do when Im in prayer,"

"You did not answer me,"

"I am not praying for my sin,"

"Then perhaps the Monk who as come to hear you,"

"No, I pray for your sins,"

She began to walk and her chimes rang out. He followed without missing a beat,

"My sins are my own and I do not need your prayer,"

"Then you wish for me to leave?" She asked as she stopped walking,

"What did you tell the monk, why has he come,"

"It is my right to have him here, why are you upset with this, it is part of my religion,"

"He comes from Narakus house,"

"Naraku has been purifeied,"

"What do you tell the Monk,"

"That is none of your business, my Lord," She said sternly then turned to leave. He grabbed her wrist and she gasped,

"Mind your mouth Kagome, least I find a less than pleasurable use for it,"

Her eyes widen "You can not talk to me like that Sesshomaru, not if you want me to stay,"

He smirked "Apparently someone did not read the whole scroll," He let her go. Just as well, he had a Monk to find.

Kagome stood somewhat shaken. "What did he mean by that," She quickly made her way back. Something was missing and she was going to find out. She went straight to his father and bowed.

"No need to bow my Lady, come what can I do for you,"

Kagome moved slowly, just like with Sesshomaru she needed to seem unbothered. He offered his hand and helped her sit. Being mated he was allowed to touch her. Sesshomaru should not have. Thankfully no one saw.

"I have a few, questions, clarifications if you will,"

"Oh?"

"His Lordship seems rather upset with me having my priest here,"

Lord Tashio grinned "Ah, nothing to worry about my dear, you are allowed it and he has no say,"

"And what say do I have?" She asks quickly.

His grin vanished "I am afraid I do not understand,"

"I know my place here, he does not seem to know his?"

He tried not to narrow his eyes but he did and she saw "I mean no disrespect,"

"Are you struggling?"

Yes and no, "I feel like im missing something,"

She was.

"What has he done?"

She looked away, "Nothing that he hasn't done before,"

He did not like that sound of that.

"He does not trust Naraku,"

"He was dealt with, by me,"

"I am aware,"

"If he does not trust me why am I here,"

He never did.

"I can replace you if that is what you want,"

"You did not answer me,"

"I trust you, Kikyo trust you,"

"He doesn't,"

"It does not matter,"

"It matters a great deal, My Lord,"

"Do you trust him?"

Kagome opened her mouth and then closed it. She did, she didnt.

"In matters of rule yes,"

"In matters of-

Kagome stood "Please dont,"

He sighed "I did not mean to stir that up," He stood "I bought you here because regardless of what he says you trust your power," He smiled at her.

"He fights me at every turn,"

"You could sit him,"

Kagome raised an eyebrow and he leaned in "Just as he has freedom with you, you have freedom with him,"

She backed up "Clarify," She said quickly,

"Your contact is not black and white Kagome,"

She did not like the sound of that, freedom was not something either of them should have. Being a Miko was the opposite of being free.

Kagome turned and quickly left the room, the bells on her headdress rang out loud and all he could do was chuckle.

But this wasn't a game.

She knew she had to look at the contract and that was not going to be easy because while this was her assignment she had no say in the contract.
