Chapter Thirty-Two:
Bella's POV:
I heard Ally get up, while she's taking a shower, I sneak Brandon into the house. Leading him to my room, we get busy quickly, as we don't have a lot of time.
After we have sex, I get dressed for my day at school. "Remember it's Tyler Crowley's van. It's dark blue. Do it during school hours"
"Okay, got it." he says, sneaking back out of the house.
Ally's POV:
Heading out the front door, I meet with Jasper in the driveway. And just like every morning he opens the passenger door, closing it for me too.
When we arrive at school, we meet up with the rest of his family. Bella arrives shortly after. Edward and Bella are staring at each other again.
We all try to distract him from staring at Bella, but nothing is getting through. We all begin to leave, but Edward is still standing there, unmoving, unblinking.
"Come on Edward" Alice shouts.
That seems to do the trick as Edward follows the rest of his family into school. We all split up, heading to our classes.
After the first three periods, it's lunch time. And for once Bella isn't staring at the Cullen's. At least not yet. She seems to be preoccupied with her phone. We all take a collective sigh of relief. For about half of lunch she's only paying attention to her phone.
"Seems you redirecting her worked" Alice says to Edward cheerfully.
"Yeah," Edward replied dryly.
The family's hopes gets shattered when Bella puts her phone away, and continues to stare. Edward seems to be in a trance by it. He continues to stare back, an unreadable expression on his face.
Rosealie groans in frustration at their actions.
After lunch and two more classes, it's now the last class of the day, which Bella shares with Edward. Jasper and I share our last class too. After the bell rings all the students pile out into the parking lot.
For Jasper and I to get out of the school, we pass by Edward and Bella's last class, biology.
Their teacher stops us "you're Isabella's sister, right?" he asks.
"Yeah" I say questioningly.
"She accidentally left her keys on the classroom floor. Would you mind giving these to her?" He asked me.
"Yeah, sure. No problem" I reply.
Taking the keys from his outreached hand, I pocket them. Jasper and I make our way to Bella, where she's standing by the bed of her pick up truck, once again staring at Edward.
Jasper lets me approach her by myself, not quite trusting himself around her quite yet. But still remaining a close enough distance to not be deemed rude.
"Hey Bella, your biology teacher handed me these. Said you accidentally left them in his class." I say pulling her keys out from my pocket. As I'm about to hand them to her, we hear a loud screeching noise.
Bella quickly takes her keys from my hand. We both look up to see Tyler's van coming right for us. I barely have enough time to react, before Bella yanks me in front of her and she scoots off to the side quickly.
Jasper tackled me, one arm around my waist, the other cradling the back of my head. I begin to shake in fear. I watch in slow motion as the van skids into Jasper and stops.
Jasper is of course unfazed by this. His only concern is for his mate. Tilting my head back I see Edward in front of Bella, his hand out reached, also stopping the van.
"Ally" Jasper whispers.
"Jas" I say back, scared and confused. My body is trembling beneath him.
A crowd gathers around us, the van blocking Jasper and Edward from sight.
"Somebody call 911" a voice yells out from the crowd.
"You need to go, Jas," I said to him gently.
He growls at that idea.
Jasper gets off me carefully, then helps me up. The yelling and shouting of the crowd fades into the background as Jasper and I focus on eachother.
Jasper scenting me for blood, he finds none. An ambulance shows up for Bella and I. Jasper plays up on me being in shock to the paramedics and recommends that he stay with me.
They let him ride with me. Getting strapped down on a gurney will not make my top ten. They're uncomfortable, so are neck braces. Bella gets put in a separate ambulance. She seems way too happy to be going to the hospital.
Once we arrive at the hospital, Bella and I get put into a room with Tyler and two other patients. Curtains separate us all. Jasper is laying in the hospital bed with me. Constantly checking up on me. Reassuring himself that I'm okay.
The bond between us flares up when nurses come in, checking in on me and constantly touching me. Jasper has to hold back from growling constantly.
"I love you Jasper" I murmured to him. "Thank you".
Swallowing thickly, Jasper responds, his voice gruff with a growl "I'll always keep you safe. I love you, Ally".
A commotion is heard outside, heading towards this side of the hospital. People are yelling and shouting. I'm able to pick up on it. Jasper tenses impossibly more, his eyes shifting colors.
Red.
"Major" I question gently, cupping his face in my hands.
A low growl falls from his lips. It's a warning. Even I can tell that.
"Major, please. I need you to listen to me" I pleaded with him.
Major doesn't respond with words. He lets out a quiet whine, tilting his head ever so slightly.
"Please give Jasper back control. Please. I'm safe here. I have you here with me, and Jasper would never let harm come to me. You know that." I plead with him more, taking a different approach.
Major nuzzled my face and neck, taking a deep breath in from his nose. Closing his eyes, he opens them, and I know Jasper is back when his eyes are amber again.
The doors burst open, Jasper growls, but then calms down when he figures it out. "Your father is here" he says nuzzling my neck.
Charlie stands between Bella's and I beds. "Bella, Ally! Are you girls okay?!" Dad asks frantically.
Bella responds first "We're fine dad" she says dismissively.
"Ally, are you okay?" dad asks me.
"I'm okay dad, just a little shaken up is all" I reply.
A nurse came by to check on Bella and I. She stopped by Bella first, checking her vitals. Before she could get to me, Carlisle walked into the ward.
Walking over to the five of us he announces "I heard the Chief's daughters were here".
Charlie puts his head down in slight embarrassment and shame. Rubbing the back of his neck, he gave Carlisle an awkward smile.
Carlisle, offering a kind smile back in return, turns to Jasper and I, noticing the nurse coming to us next. "I got it from here, Jackie".
Jackie smiles and hands him the paperwork from both Bella and I's beds. Taking her leave she gives Carlisle a flirtatious smile.
Looking at Bella's paperwork first, flipping a page. Reading everything he needed to, he looked up at her. "Well Isabella-".
"Bella. It's just Bella" she says.
"Bella. Well. It looks like you took quite a spill. How do you feel?" He asks, grabbing his pen light from his doctor coat pocket, seeing how her eyes react to light flow.
"Well it would have been a lot worse if Edward hadn't knocked me out of the way" She says, prying.
"Edward, your boy?" Charlie asks.
"One of my sons, yes" Carlisle responds. He reaches his hand around the back of Bella's head, feeling. "Your X-rays show no indication of a concussion. But you will have a nice knot growing back there for a few days. Turning to Charlie, he continues "Just make sure she gets plenty of fluids and some round the clock ibuprofen."
Dad nods, he'll make damn sure.
Turning his attention to Jasper and I. Carlisle and Jasper lock eyes, seeming to have a silent conversation. Jasper removes his arm from my side slightly. Carlisle makes his move in.
Looking over my file, "Well Ally, looks like you don't have a concussion. Possibly a bruised back. But nothing too serious." He grabs his pen light and does the test on my eyes. "Everything looks normal. I'll prescribe you some pain medication. And give you a doctor's note for nothing too extreme. Give your back a chance to heal."
At my nod, Carlisle backs off. Jasper relaxes, placing his hand where it was before.
"You know Ally would have been a lot worse if Jasper also didn't step in too" Bella states, seemingly expressionless.
Charlie goes over to Jasper "Thank you for keeping my little girl safe" he whispers.
"Of course sir" Jasper replies.
"You two can be discharged now, Charlie. If you follow me, you'll have to sign some paperwork." Carlisle says gently. Bella follows them, but goes right instead of left with them.
