Another little moment from this story. I'm considering publishing the chapters that I have so far even though I don't know when they will be continued. I suppose you can leave a review letting me know your thoughts. If you like. Thanks for reading. ^_^
One evening after a late lunch, Dean and Julia were in the kitchen washing dishes and putting away leftovers. Airynn was at the map table doing math problems in a spiral notebook while Sam sat across from her on his laptop. Dean rinsed off a plate and set it in the dish rack. "I'm beginning to like this." He said quietly. Julia closed the fridge door. "Like what?" she responded. Dean put another plate in the rack and looked at her. "This. Home life. Washing dishes, cooking food together, just... being a family." Julia looked back at him. "I like it too. This is a much better place for Airynn to be than -" She stopped herself before she spoke his name.
She didn't want to talk about Ryan Gilroy. She didn't want to think about him. Though she knew he was most likely still looking for her, they hadn't heard anything about or from him for nearly 2 weeks now. Part of her wished he would show up so the Winchesters could blow his stupid head off and he couldn't hurt anyone ever again. The other part hoped he'd never return. Just quietly die somewhere, lost and forgotten. Not a Christian thought, as her grandmother would say. But Julia didn't care. She wanted to live with Dean. She wanted Airynn to know him as her father. Her father. She had that to think about too.
"Julia?" Dean had noticed that she'd been very quiet after cutting herself off. She snapped back to the present. Dean had finished the dishes and dried his hands. He still held the towel. They just looked at each other. "Do you want to live here, with us?" He swung the towel over his shoulder. Julia asked "Do you mean that?" Dean stepped closer to her. "I do. I didn't realize 14 years ago how much I truly enjoyed us being together... "
Julia quietly stared at him as he inched closer to her. He gently took her hands in his. She looked down for a moment, then back up. "I would like that very much... Airynn likes it here. She actually asked me if we could live here with you two." Dean cracked a smile. "She is fun to be around. She's very smart too. Which is good because Sam finally has a chess buddy." Julia smiled. She whispered "I've missed you Dean. I would love to live here with you." Then she leaned forward and kissed him.
Dean was hoping this would happen. He hadn't been this excited about a simple kiss since Robin when he was sixteen. They held each other for 5 seconds, 15? Who knew. It was sincere. Passionate, yet gentle. Like the kiss at the end of The Princess Bride must have been. When they broke away Julia smiled, sighed contentedly, and pressed her nose to Dean's. He remembered her doing that after they'd made love the night before he left. She leaned her head on his chest just when they heard Airynn's voice call out "Mom?" Julia started and took a step away from Dean as her daughter walked into the kitchen saying "I need your help. I can't figure out this word problem."
