Chapter 3: Deep Sleep

In the aftermath of the train crash, Eric and Alex now find themselves stranded in the depths with a new goal in their sights.

Eric slowly woke up and realised he's being carried by something. He can't tell what it was, but he too weak to do anything about it. The creature carried Eric to a garbage chute and opened the hatch. Meanwhile, in the same room, Alex slowly woke up and realised she was tied up. "Dad?! Where are you?! I can't move!" says Alex. "Alex?" says Eric.

The creature turned Eric around to face him and he instantly recognised it. It was a giant purple cat, with a permanent smile on it's face. "Cat Nap?" Upon hearing his name, Cat Nap dropped Eric down the garbage chute. "Alex!" He slid all the down and came out in a trash compactor. Alex sat up and tried to untie herself, but she stopped when she saw Cat Nap staring at her. "Cat Nap?"

Cat Nap moved closer to Alex and he exhaled a red gas at her. She breathed in the gas and instantly fell asleep. Cat Nap then picked up Alex and walked away. In the trash compactor, Eric stood up and realised what he's in. "It's a trap!" says Eric. Suddenly, the machine turned on and the walls were closing in. Eric saw a hole and climbed out of the trash compactor.

He ran past some machinery to find Alex. He jumped across the red gas that Cat Nap produces. He then saw Alex being dragged up into a vent. "I'm coming Alex!" Eric crawled through a vent and he was back in the room that Alex was. He picked up two green batteries and used them to power a blue hand panel. He then ran out of the room and heard a telephone ringing.

Eric ran into another room and picked up a phone on the wall. A young boy's voice says: "Hey...hey, can you hear me? I don't want you to die, so I'm gonna help you! Check this out. Look at the tube thing on the back wall. Ready?" Eric looked at the tube and a green battery came out of it. "Buh-boom! You can use that battery to open the door!"

Eric opened the door with the battery and saw the train that he and Alex were just in. It was completely off the rails and it was on fire. "Whoa. Did you do that? I guess that's where Cat Nap found you. I know you're probably mad at Poppy for not letting you and your daughter escape. But she needs you. We need you. You are our mission. Together, we can save a lot of people. Including you and Alex. Playcare is straight ahead. It's the home of Cat Nap, one of "The Smiling Critters." There used to be...eight of them? I think? Now, it's just him. Playcare is his church, his hunting ground. Whatever he wants it to be. You better get moving quickly. We'll keep in touch. Oh, and by the way, my name is Ollie. Nice to meet you."

Eric walked up some stairs and into a old gondola. As the gondola was moving, a voice on a TV says: "Hello. My name is Elliot Ludwig. When you look around at the world today, what one thing do you think it needs more of? I asked around, once. "Money, I never have enough." "Understanding, I can never get any." "Faith, the common man has lost it." Each answer was different, and I could perhaps see some little truth in each. But I think each was also missing something. Something simple. You see, not one of them could muster a smile."

Eric looked out of a window and saw that the gondola was heading towards a giant metal dome. "How were these people able to build something so far underground?" says Eric. "A smile is hope. A smile is love. A smile is understanding. And there is nothing more gratifying to my soul than being the reason for a child's smile. To be the spark that ignites all their hopes and dreams. For it is only through hopes and dreams that we may create a better world. One where our children need not be afraid. One where they are protected. After all, this company and its toys are nothing without them. These children deserve to smile, they deserve to love, and they deserve a safe home."

The gondola enters the dome, Eric looks out the window and recognises the place instantly. "And we're back where it all started," says Eric. "That is why it is with enormous pleasure that as the founder of Playtime Co., I announce...Playcare! Our very own onsite orphanage. But it's not only that. It's a school, a playhouse, a place to belong. Our very own ecosystem beneath the surface, dedicated in every inch and detail to ensuring a child's smile. It's teachers and councillors, mothers and fathers, until such a time they have all of that in you. May Playcare bring joy, inspiration, and smiles to all who enter these doors. For what gives life its meaning, if not a smile?"

The gondola stops and Eric walks off it. He stood at the top of some stairs and looked around. "What sort of game do you think you're playing Cat Nap?" says Eric. The phone then rings and Ollie says: "Psssst. It's me again, Ollie. Cool place, right? The kids used to live here. Now look at it. Anyways, do you see that statue in the middle of the room? Take the stairs that go under it. There's a really cool room in there that powers literally all of Playcare! I can give you a key down there."

Eric sighs before walking down the stairs and into the room. In the room was a big generator and a computer screen. There was a tube on the wall and Eric picked up a key. "So you got the key. Now the question you're probably asking yourself is: "Where does it go?" Well, head back out, and you should find a door just to the left of the cable car you took down here."

Eric walked out and saw the door next to the stairs. He opened the door and walked into a big room with a machine. "Welcome to the Gas Production Zone, the beating heart of the whole evil Playcare system. All that gas you see coming from the machine is made right here in the factory. It's called "The Red Smoke." Right now it's all headed off to the right. We need to make that Red Smoke go left instead. That's how we can get to him. The machine will probably have a few dumb safeguards for you to work around, but I think you can do it. I'll call you once it's done."

Eric looked around the room and found a new Grab Pack. He took off the old one and put on the new one. As well as the green hand, he now has a purple hand. He noticed a purple handprint on the floor and fired at it. Suddenly, Eric sprung off the floor and landed on a balcony. "Whoa! This is cool," says Eric. He then used the hand to jump over around the room; whilst avoiding Red Smoke.

He walked into a room and turned on the power. He then pressed a big red button on the machine. There were three tubes on the machine. The Red Smoke moved from the tube on the right, to the tube in the middle. Suddenly, all of the power turned off and Ollie says: "Oh no! Someone killed the power. Ok, I sent you another key. It's under the statue. Use that to get into Home Sweet Home. Then once you're inside, find the building's backup generator. Good luck."

Eric walks out of the room, down the stairs underneath the statue and picked up the key. Then he walked up to Home Sweet Home, opened the door and walked inside. He walked down some stairs and opened a door, inside the room was Red Smoke. "I don't really have a choice, do I?" says Eric. He walked into the gas and everything turned red.

Eric was standing at the top of some stairs, he walked down and he walked into a hallway. He walked around a corner and there was another hallway. He kept walking into the same hallway, until he heard a phone ringing. He walked into a room and saw a telephone on a table. When it stopped, Ollie says: "You need to run."

Eric turned around and saw Cat Nap peeking around the corner. He then quickly disappeared and Eric says: "Where is she Cat Nap? Where is my daughter?" Eric felt like he was going crazy, because he was walking through the same hallway again and again. Eventually, he walked into a hospital room with a TV in it. He picked up a VHS tape and put it in the tape player.

Huggy Wuggy appeared on the TV and a voice says: "Greetings, Employees, and welcome to your first day here in Playtime! We're certain that in the days to come you'll find your new family here every bit as loving and supportive as your own. Feel free to wander the halls! Sit in the mess for lunch! Or watch our children play and learn to their little heart's content. Join the Innovationists, where the bounds of science are continuously pushed. Or join the Counsellors of Playcare, whose diligence and care for our children will help shape a brighter future, just you see. Now, every one of you has your part in that future, so should you come back tomorrow feeling unhappy for where you are, or what you've done, worry not, for your supervisor is here and happy to listen!"

Eric thought he heard something and turned around. When he turned back to the TV, the picture of Huggy Wuggy changed and he looked more nightmarish. "And...should you come back...years later...your conscience finally getting the better of you. May you descend into the dark and dust, finding all that awaits you are incomprehensible horrors...each hungry for your return, each eager that they might find you. Perhaps they'd smile at you from a shadow, their smiling mouths full of teeth and meat and plastic, watching and waiting patiently for their turn at a warm welcome. Or perhaps they won't allow you such time to figure your place in the world you'd left. A world that's theirs now. Welcome home."

Suddenly, Huggy Wuggy started to climb out of the TV. Eric tried to open the door, but it was locked. He could only watch as he was grabbed and he closes his eyes hoping his death would be quick. But when he opens his eyes, it was only a bad dream. "Ok, so the gas puts people to sleep, and it gives them nightmares? Who would even make this stuff?"

Eric walked into the main atrium of Home Sweet Home and jumped into a hole. He saw a big toy car and made it drive into some debris. In the path that he cleared, there was some Red Smoke. Eric then found a gas mask and put it on. "Perfect. Let's do this," says Eric. He walked through the gas and used to Grab Pack to climb out of the hole.

He walked through some of the rooms that the kids slept in. He stopped and stared inside one of them. He recognised that it was the room Alex slept in when she was human. "I'm going to find you Alex. I did once before, so I'll do it again." Eric walked around Home Sweet Home and eventually he turned on the power.

Eric walked out of Home Sweet Home and something grabbed him and slammed him to the floor. He instantly recognised it was Kissy Missy. But before she hurt Eric further, Poppy appeared and says: "No, no! Let go! He didn't do anything wrong! We're actually here to help." Kissy Missy lets go of Eric, Poppy then says: "This place makes her tense. I'm glad that Ollie could help you get this far. He's the reason we found you two at all."

Kissy Missy helped Poppy onto her shoulder, Eric stood up and glared at Poppy. "Looks like the train crash hurt us both. You've been through so much. You deserve an explanation. Come on." Poppy patted Kissy Missy on the back and says: "Hey, you'll be ok...we'll be ok." All three of them got onto a elevator, Eric then says: "Poppy, do you know how pissed I am? My daughter is somewhere in this place and I don't know where! I don't even know if she's still alive! And it's all your fault!"

Poppy sighs before saying: "Listen, I'm not your enemy, but I can't just let you leave. What's happening down here is bigger than all of us. And I need you...so we can get revenge on those monsters who've tortured you...who've tortured us. They didn't act alone. They're disciples of the original: The Prototype. Do the honours?"

The elevator reached the top of the dome and Eric pushed a red button. All the lights turned on and the elevator started to go back down. "The Prototype knows we're coming by now. You try to escape, he'll kill you and Alex before you ever reach that front door. He's the reason I was trapped in that...god awful case for so long! You have...no idea the things he's done! Let me help you kill him. Let me help you save everyone. We've all seen you, how capable you are. You killed Huggy, you killed Mommy, you freed me. You are perfect for this. Cat Nap is coming. He's the final obstacle The Prototype has placed against us. We can't stay here. Keep yourself safe, Ollie will call you."

Eric got off the elevator, Poppy and Kissy Missy stayed on and it went back up to the top. The phone then rings and Ollie says: "Hey, hey...it's me again. It seems like Poppy explained everything now. And she turned on the dome's backup power! Now the plan from here is pretty simple: we need to restore power to the Gas Production Zone. First, go back to the Home Sweet Home building you were just in. You should be able to find a big power cord somewhere around the porch. Grab it and plug it in underneath the statue."

After walking back to Home Sweet Home, Eric found the cable, walked down the stairs and plugged the cable into the generator. "Awesome, look at that! Remember that generator you turned on inside of Home Sweet Home? Well that was a backup generator for just that building. And every building should have one! Now you've just taken Home Sweet Home backup power and routed it here. We're already halfway done! Hmmm, but where to go next...everywhere is pretty dangerous around here. That playhouse especially. Yuck! So...your best bet is probably the school. Cat Nap usually leaves that place alone. Sending you the key now!"

Eric picked up the key, walked up to the school, opened the door and walked inside. "Ok, make this quick. Turn on the generator, leave, and plug the school's power cord into the center. Be careful in there, I don't think I can connect to you on that side of the dome. And you won't be alone. There's someone else in there too. They're not your..."

The phone lost signal and the school's PA system says: "This is Miss Delight speaking. Please excuse the interruption. Students, remain in your seat until the bell has rung. And no going in the halls without a hall pass!" "One of the old teachers is still working? How is that possible?" says Eric. He walked around the school trying to turn on the power.

"Wait, I recognise you. Yes, I remember. You used to work here! How are you...alive? Hm? Barb? Oh. Barb says you're looking for your co-workers. Cat Nap wouldn't like that you're here. You should leave. For your own safety," says Miss Delight. "Not yet. Not without my daughter." Eric walked into a classroom, he recognised that it was where Alex used to learn in.

"Where are you Alex? Am I even close?" "Not a good listener, are you? You're a lot like the other humans in that way. I wonder if your screams will sound like theirs too. Mmmm...I look forward to finding out." On a blackboard, Eric saw that Barb was a ball on a ruler, with lots of pencils sticking out of it. "Oh great, I wonder if she passed in Arts & Crafts class."

Eric then found the generator and turned it on. However, Miss Delight walked into the room and used Barb to smash it. "Holy shit!" says Eric. He ran out of the room and looked back at Miss Delight. For some reason, she wasn't chasing him. She wasn't even moving slowly. Eric was confused, then he looked away and then back at her. Miss Delight had moved closer to him.

"Oh, so you can't move if I'm looking at you. Huh, a classic Weeping Angel moment here." Eric ran through the school, looking for a way out. He would always turn around to stop Miss Delight chasing him. Eventually, he opened a gate and she decided to run after Eric. He ran past a open shutter and pulled a lever to close it.

The shutter dropped onto Miss Delight, cutting her in half. "School's out, bitch," says Eric. He walked into a hallway and picked up a flare gun hand for the Grab Pack. "A flare gun? Well, maybe they're scared of bright lights?" He then walked into a giant cavern. He climbed some old construction gear and made it to the top of the cave.

Eric looked down and saw a sculpture made out of old toys. Cat Nap then appeared and it looked like he was worshipping it. "What in the hell is that?" says Eric. He climbed down and saw that Cat Nap was gone. He then used the blue hand to open a door that says: "Playhouse Restricted Access" and walked inside.

"Wait a second, this is the place that Ollie said he didn't like. What am I walking into this time?" Eric walked into a storage room, he heard a little laugh and saw one of the Smiling Critters toys come out of a hole in the wall. When it walked towards him, he pulled out the flare gun and fired it. The flare hit the floor and the toy retreated back into the hole.

Eric then found a VHS tape and put it in the tape player. "Ok...this is...Cat Nap. Uhhh...Experiment 1188. What's his real name again? Ah! Ok. Heya Theo! How ya doin' bud? Normally I'd have Dr. Sawyer do this but he's uhhh...out, let's say. So you got me until they find his replacement. First off, congrats! This is officially your 4th year in your new body. And you've made some real progress pal. I was told that when you and the other Smiling Critters, y'know, Dog Day, Picky Piggy, yadda yadda yadda, were added into Playcare, that you weren't really getting along too well with the kids like everybody else was. But look at you now! The kids love ya, and that Red Smoke. I mean, that's fantastic, isn't it?! Is his uh, voice thingy still broken..." Suddenly, a really raspy voice says: "The Prototype will save us." "Theo, nobody's gonna save you. This prison is where you belong. We'll let you out here and there to go see the kids in Playcare, but your home is here. And as for "The Prototype", his home is in the labs. This is your life now. Get used to it."

"So that's who Cat Nap really is. But why is he obsessed with The Prototype?" Eric ran through the playhouse, he was also being chased by a lot of the Smiling Critters toys. He ran through some play equipment and down some stairs to a swimming pool. After opening a door, he heard a familiar voice coming from behind a gate.

He opened the gate and jumped down a small hole. There was a secret room and Alex was lying down on a giant paw pad. "Oh my god. Alex?" Eric ran up to Alex and shook her awake. "Dad? Is it really you?" says Alex. "Yes! It is me! I'm so glad you're ok!" says Eric. They both started to cry and hugged each other.

"Oh Alex, what did he do to you?" "Strangely enough, he didn't actually do anything. He just said some things." They stopped hugging and looked at each other. "Things like what?" "Cat Nap said that I should join him and worship The Prototype. But I don't want to be like him, I just want to go home." "Me too. But we still have a job to do." "What do you mean?" "I'll explain when we get out of here."

Eric climbed out of the hole. Before she climbed out, Alex heard a robotic voice say: "Do...not...trust him." She quickly climbed out and walked past some jail cells. Eric looked inside one and saw Dog Day. It was a bigger version of Dog Day, his hands were tied to the ceiling but he didn't have any legs. Alex then looked inside and covered her mouth in shock.

"You...you're Poppy's angel. Come to save us. Nothing left to save, not here. You're in Cat Nap's home, angel. Their home. A million pair of eyes are on you now. Watching, waiting, hungry. They want nothing more than to crawl beneath your skin and eat away at you bit by little bit...fill what feels empty inside themselves. That...thing...Cat Nap. The Prototype is his God, and this is what he does to heretics. These little toys follow Cat Nap to avoid that very fate...and in return, they are fed. We tried to fight it, The Prototype's control. I'm...the last of the Smiling Critters."

Dog Day looked up at Alex and says: "Wait, Alex? Is that you?" "You remember me?" says Alex. "Yes. Ten years ago, we all heard that you escaped this place with him. I'm so sorry that you came back. Listen to me, you both need to get out of this place. You need to live. You and Poppy can fix this, end this madness, the torment, the..."

Suddenly, a lot of the Smiling Critters toys came out of the walls and crawled towards Dog Day. "Oh no...oh no! Leave me. Please. Just go! Run!" The little toys crawled through Dog Day's wounds and he screamed in pain. "Oh my god!" says Alex. "We gotta run!" says Eric. They ran to the gate, but the floorboards broke and they fell down.

Meanwhile, the now possessed Dog Day broke free and started to chase Eric and Alex. They ran through some tunnels and play equipment. They jumped across a gap and onto a elevator. A shutter closed and the elevator went up. When it reached the top, Eric says: "Ok, I think we're safe. Alex?" Alex looked sad and says: "He remembered me. He didn't deserve it. He was my favourite."

Alex bursts into tears and Eric hugged her. "I'm so sorry Alex. But I know that he wouldn't want you to stop and give up. He would want you to escape this place, for good. And that's what we're going to do. We're going to get out of here. For Dog Day." Alex wiped some tears away and says: "For Dog Day." They went down a slide and they came out of the playhouse.

After explaining the situation to Alex, the phone rings and Ollie says: "Hey, are you alright? No ouchies or lost body parts? I'm really glad you're ok. I don't want to lose any more friends to this place. Hey...did you see the shrine? Cat Nap made it for The Prototype. See, before Cat Nap turned into...Cat Nap, I guess there was some pretty serious accident. He almost died but...they say that The Prototype saved his life, giving up his own freedom in the process. In Cat Nap's eyes, The Prototype is a superhero, and has saved this place. So Cat Nap treats him like a god, killing everyone that opposes him. Us included, if we're not careful. That shrine, did it scare you? If you thought that was terrifying, just wait until you see the real thing. Anyways, we're really close to the end. I sent you a new key. You're going to the Councillor's Office instead. It's not ideal...but it should have enough juice. If you can get that generator going and plug it in, I think we'll be done! And keep your eyes open for Cat Nap. Every shadow and every flickering light is a hiding spot. He always stalks his prey first. He'll take away anything you have to defend yourself. And when you're at your most vulnerable...he'll kill you. Cat Nap lives for the hunt. Good luck, talk soon."

Eric grabs the key, walks over to the Councillor's Office, opens the door and they both walked inside. After walking through the office, they enter another part of the cavern. After jumping across some platforms, they went back into the office. Eric puts on his gas mask and says: "Wait here, I'll be right back." "Actually, Cat Nap told me that the gas shouldn't affect me anymore. Also, I don't want to split up again," says Alex.

Eric sighs and allows Alex to follow him. Eventually, they were able to turn on the power and they crawled through a vent. They jumped down into a hallway, they needed a green battery to open a door so Eric looked inside one of the rooms. Alex was waiting, then she started to hear voices. The Red Smoke was having some kind of effect on her.

She put her hands on her head and her eyes changed from white to red. "Ok, I found the battery...Alex?" says Eric. Alex was just staring at Eric. "Alex, are you ok?" Suddenly, Alex grabbed Eric by the throat and stole his gas mask. "Sorry, but Cat Nap says that if you're not with us, then you're a heretic," says Alex. She then threw him into the room and slammed the door.

Eric didn't have a gas mask, so the Red Smoke made him fall asleep. Alex turned around and saw Cat Nap behind her. They both nodded at each other before walking away. In Eric's nightmare, he saw all the places inside Playtime Co. He also heard Poppy say: "Find the flower. This isn't a place you come back from. Do you have any idea what you're doing? Do you know what's happened here? Do you know who we once were? Do you see why we have to end this? Do you even know what's real? No...you don't."

Suddenly, everything was red, there was an alarm, people were screaming and the metal hand of The Prototype was reaching towards Eric. Then he woke up and the phone was ringing. However, it wasn't Ollie that was calling him, it was Cat Nap. "Leave Playcare, or I'm coming for you." "No. You took my daughter again, so I am coming for you."

Eric used the green battery to open the door and walked out of the Councillor's Office. In Playcare, all the lights were turned off again. The phone rings again and Ollie says: "Something's gone wrong. Grab the cord from the Councillor's Office and plug it in underneath the statue! We need to reach 100%! Good luck." Eric grabs the cable, walked down the stairs and plugged the cable into the generator.

Unfortunately, the screen says they're at 95%. "It looks like we're a tiny bit short! I'm sending one last key. Poppy used it when you met up with her earlier to activate the sky lights! Go back over there and find the cord. Then we'll have enough power!" Eric picked up the key, walked over to the elevator, grabbed the cord and plugged it into the generator.

"Finally, now what?" says Eric. A big blue battery appeared and Ollie says: "Ok, that should be enough power. Now take that huge battery to the Gas Production Zone. So we can get out of here! It's the door by the cable car you arrived on. Good luck." Eric picked up the battery and walked into the Gas Production Zone. He went to place it into the wall, but Cat Nap appeared and sprayed him with the Red Smoke.

However, Eric doesn't fall asleep. He drops the battery and runs into a elevator. As it goes up, Cat Nap crawled up the metal fence, chasing after Eric. The gas was making Eric see Cat Nap as a pale, nightmarish monster. When Eric leaves the elevator, he enters a steam room. He then finds a VHS tape and puts it into the tape player.

"Log code 24459. In relation, Experiment 1006, The Prototype. Stubborn as he is, and always silent with each passing session, I'm still uncovering fresh data nonetheless. Today's discovery?..." A metal groaning was heard in the background. "Hmph. End of log. Ready to talk now, are you?" "I...possess...a question." "Go ahead." "Do you...feel...anything?" "This question referring to what, exactly?" "You stick us. Beat us. Tear at flesh. Do you feel it?" "There is a secret inside you, 1006. Valuable beyond all measure. I cut and prod and burn at it, and I get closer with each session. So speak, or don't. Fight, or give in. Regardless, I learn something new about you every day. It excites me!" "Thank you." "You...thank me?" "Absolutely. I learn something new about you every day."

"So, The Prototype can change his voice? I better be careful in the future," says Eric. He then walks into the middle of the room, there were four hallways and a computer screen. On the computer screen, Poppy says: "I hope this is coming through. There's no time to waste. Cat Nap is on his way. The room you're in used to be a sort of panic room. It's...not what it used to be, but it can protect you. Learn how it works. Try putting the batteries in the different glowing spots."

Eric grabbed a battery and put it in one of the holes. The hallway was covered in steam and Poppy says: "Good! Ok...now, in between the hallways, there's those two side rooms, on both the left and the right. They'll be green power receivers in those little rooms. They can block off the hallways before Cat Nap gets to you. Try them!"

Eric uses the green hand to power the steamers and Poppy says: "Good! If you see Cat Nap, use those. You're probably gonna hallucinate a bit. It'll be hard to tell what's real and what's fake. Try using your flares on Cat Nap to make sure he's real. He's almost there! There might be a way to kill him, if you can hold out. Do you see that computer terminal? Progressively use the batteries to fill the surrounding slots. Please don't die."

After placing a battery into the wall, a timer of three minutes started on the computer screen. Eric then heard footsteps around the room. He saw Cat Nap appear around the room, in multiple places at once. When he walked down the hallways, Eric turned on the steamers. Sometimes Cat Nap would open a vent in the roof and Eric would close it.

He kept placing batteries into the wall, so the power can charge up. When the timer reached one minute left, Eric saw Alex standing in the hallway. "Alex? Listen, it's me. It's your dad, Eric." Suddenly, Alex ran down the hallway and grabbed Eric again. "You are nothing but a heretic. So shut up and die!" says Alex. The vent in the roof opens and Cat Nap climbs down into the room.

"Alex, I know you're still in there. Please, remember who you are," says Eric. He reaches into his pocket and pulled out a photograph. Alex looked at it, in the photograph was Eric and Alex when they met ten years ago. After a few seconds, Eric started to sing a song. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take, my sunshine away."

Suddenly, Alex remembered something. The night that Eric rescued Alex years ago, he sang the same song as he tucked her into bed. "Are you singing that because I'm a Dog Day toy?" says a young Alex. "Well, yes. But it's because it's a song that most parents would sing to their kids as they go to bed," says a young Eric.

"So, you don't think I'm a monster?" "What? Alex, just because you're now a toy, doesn't mean that you're a monster. You are an amazing person, and I'm sorry that I couldn't save you from being experimented on. But it doesn't matter, because I love you Alex. And we're going to have a happy life together."

Eric kisses Alex on the head and says: "Good night Alex." Before he closes the bedroom door, Alex says: "Good night Eric." Back in present day, Eric says: "Alex, no matter what happens now, I'm still glad I took you away from this place years ago. And I will always love you." Alex lets go of Eric and puts her hands on her head again.

Her eyes changed back to white and she says: "Dad? What's going on?" "Alex! You're back!" Suddenly, Cat Nap grabs Alex and uses his tail to hit Eric across the room. "Dad!" A growling sound was heard from Cat Nap. "Cat Nap, The Prototype isn't a god, he's just a monster," says Alex. Cat Nap brings Alex to his face and says: "Heretic."

Cat Nap began to strangle Alex, but she picked up a rusty screwdriver and stabbed him in the arm. He cried out in pain and dropped her. The timer on the computer reached zero and the electricity was at max power. Eric sat up and says: "Hey Theo!" Upon hearing his real name, Cat Nap turned to Eric. He used the green hand to grab the electricity and says: "Get away from her you bitch!"

Eric fired the green hand, but since there was too much electricity, it flew off the Grab Pack and into Cat Nap's mouth. He collapsed on the floor because of the electricity. He tried to spray Red Smoke, but the electricity ignited the gas and he was on fire. Eric and Alex held onto each other as Cat Nap cried out in pain. However, he was able to put out of the fire.

The vent in the roof opens and the hand of The Prototype appeared. Cat Nap got onto his knees and held out a hand. Suddenly, The Prototype stuck his hand through Cat Nap's mouth, killing him and dragging his body away. "Holy shit," says Alex. "I honestly didn't expect that to happen," says Eric. They both got onto the elevator and it went back down.

The phone then rings and Ollie says: "Wow...you did it. You must feel pretty good. With Cat Nap dead, you're one big step closer to The Prototype. One step closer to winning. You've made your choice, you're staying to help Poppy. Well, finish the job. This win is yours." Eric places the blue battery into the wall and presses the big red button.

The machine turned on and the Red Smoke moved from the tube in the middle, to the tube on the left. The power turned back on and Eric and Alex high fived each other. "Alright, one last thing and then we can go home," says Eric. "Dad, are you sure we're going to be able to stop The Prototype?" says Alex. "We have to be Alex. We just have to be."

They walk into another room and Poppy says: "Good, you're both here. And you've done it again. The impossible. Just like I knew you would. Cat Nap's gone...the Red Smoke is diverted. Everything is falling into place, thanks to you." A giant hatch in the room opens and reveals a secret elevator. "So, this is how we get to The Prototype?" says Alex. "Uh huh," says Eric.

Poppy then comes out of a vent with a VHS tape and says: "But if we're to keep going then...then you deserve to have the truth. You came back because of your co-workers. You want to know what happened, and why. This...this is your answer. We called it: "The Hour of Joy." Eric and Alex looked at a TV and Poppy puts the tape into the tape player.

The tape shows old security camera footage, on the day that the people in the factory disappeared ten years ago. As it turns out, Huggy Wuggy, Kissy Missy, Mommy Long Legs, Miss Delight, Cat Nap and all the other toys around the factory attacked and killed everyone. Eric and Alex were both shocked as they watched the massacre on the TV.

In the aftermath, the Make a Friend machine room, the Game Station and Playcare were littered with dozens of bodies. After the tape was done, Poppy says: "I remember hearing every moment of it. It went on so long. So agonisingly long. They tried to hide, to run, anything to stay alive. I remember their cries: "What's going on?" "Why is this happening?" "What are those things?" Senseless slaughter, that's all it really was. They killed everyone. The guilty, the innocent, didn't matter. All that death...it didn't fix anything. And then, once it was all over, they dragged those corpses down below where they'd never be found. And they...ate the bodies...to stay alive. The Prototype has to die. For this. For everything."

A shutter opens and Kissy Missy walks into the room. She picked up Poppy and placed her onto the elevator. Eric walked over, but Alex didn't move. Instead, she reached up to the tape player and took out the VHS tape. "Alex, what are you doing?" says Eric. "When we get out of here, you're going to make sure that everyone sees what's on this tape. So that way, everyone will know that what happened to your co-workers and my friends, was all because of Playtime Co.," says Alex.

"But Alex, if people saw you afterwards, then what would happen to you?" "I don't care! All my friends are dead! First, we kill The Prototype. Then, we're going to get out of this fucking place and everyone is going to know what happened. Do you understand me?!" Eric slowly nods and Alex calms down. "I'm sorry dad. It's just that I made friends here when I was human. And they're all gone."

Eric hugs Alex and says: "I know how you feel. I also made friends here when I worked for them. I miss them as well. Ok, when we get out of here, I promise that I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that everyone sees the tape. Are we good Alex?" Alex nods and says: "Yeah, I'm ok now. So, shall we get going?" "Yeah, let's end this."

Poppy says to Kissy Missy: "Soon as we reach the bottom, we'll send the lift back up. Just hold tight, ok?" She then looked at Eric and Alex and says: "After you!" They both got onto the elevator and Kissy Missy pulled a lever. It started to go down and Poppy says: "Alright. Once we hit the ground, we need to be cautious, there's something..."

Suddenly, there was some loud sounds and screaming coming from Kissy Missy. "What? What's she doing? This isn't..." The hatch slowly started to close. "No, no no...no! We're coming! Just hold on!" The elevator started to go back up. "C'mon c'mon! Go faster! Kissy!" Unfortunately, the hatch fully closed before they reached the top.

Eric, Alex and Poppy were alone in the dark. They had no idea if Kissy Missy was still alive. They had no choice but to take the elevator all the way down; to confront the Master of Puppets: The Prototype.
