Chapter 5: Far Far Away

Hey everyone, I'm back with a new chapter. I received your team name suggestions, and I think I figured out the best choice. Also, I'm thrilled to say this story has over 100 followers! Thank you all so much for your support! I'm glad I got this released in time for my birthday. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.

We found ourselves in a large area as everyone looked in awe at a giant silver and black gummi ship with enough space to carry a whole city. On the side were the words NORMANDY.

With stars in their eyes, Ruby, Jaune, Kohta, and Nora were the most excited.

"Uh, Roxas is this really ours?" Blake hesitates.

"Yep, this is what we'll use to get from world to world and bring any of your friends and family back with us." Roxas nods.

"This is awesome. Let's check it out." Yang said running ahead.

"Hey wait for me," Nora said running in after.

Making their way onto the bridge, we see Takeshi admiring the controls.

"Man, we sure don't have these back home." He whistles.

"Guys this place is insane! It's got everything!" Ruby said.

"Ooh, it's got a fully stocked medical room in here," Shizuka said, referring to the huge upgrade compared to her nurse's office.

"A training room, a kitchen, enough room for all of us." Saeko lists.

"Ooh it even has a Tiki Bar." Yang grins.

"Wait what?" Roxas asks confused.

Making his way to the back, he saw Yang, Emerald, and Rikka sitting around a fully stocked tiki-themed bar with fruits and various drinks.

"Oh no, no bar. We are here to save worlds. I'm gonna call Yen Sid and have this taken away." Roxas said.

"No! No! No!" Rikka said running up to him. "Roxas, we are keeping this."

"Come again?" Roxas asks.

"Look, I am a woman who doesn't ask for much. But there is nothing more refreshing than a drink after a long hard day of fighting for your life and if these missions are half as dangerous as you claim they are, I'll need a drink. So, we are keeping this." Rikka insists.

"Alright, alright. We'll keep the bar." Roxas said stepping back.

"Thank you. Glad you're reasonable." Rikka smiles.

"So, Roxas, do you know how to work this thing?" Blake asks looking at the controls.

"Yeah, I remember a few things," Roxas said remembering when Sora piloted his. "But this is going to require more than just me. I need a few more people to be knowledgeable of this ship and everything that happens on it." Roxas said looking at the backup.

"You think you can just bump us to backup and then offer us a pity position on your ship?" Saya asks.

"So, you don't want it?" Roxas asks.

"No, I do, but I'm just saying," Saya mutters.

"Come on, Saya. We have a whole spaceship to ourselves." Kohta said.

"Well, I wouldn't say that. Y'all really kept a girl waiting" A female voice calls out.

Turning around everyone saw a woman with curly blonde hair under a red cap, a cropped yellow jacket that revealed her stomach over an orange bikini top, black goggles around her neck, jean shorts with a tool belt wrapped around her waist, black gloves, and white boots. This was Cindy Aurum.

"Whoa, mama," Kohta said checking her out.

"Now which one of you is Roxas?" Cindy asks with a country accent.

"That be me," Roxas said stepping forward. "And you are?"

"Cindy Aurum. I'm this ship's official Grease Monkey." Cindy declares.

"Oh, you're our mechanic." Roxas realized.

"That's right. Now listen up. You might be the one in charge of missions, but I'm the one in charge of this ship." Cindy said getting in his face. "So, you don't get on my bad side and I won't get on yours. We good?"

"Yeah, sounds fair." Roxas nods.

"Excellent." Cindy smiles backing up. "Look forward to working y'all," Cindy said tipping her hat and walking to the back adding a little sway to her hip.

"Well, she's certainly interesting," Jaune said glancing at her.

Penny was about to open her mouth when an alarm went off on the bridge startling everyone.

"What the heck is that?" Ren asks.

"I didn't touch anything!" Nora said holding up her defensively.

"That's not the ship." Eyes widening Roxas pressed a button and a world map appeared. "Heartless are on the move. A world is in danger."

"Wait, you mean?" Ruby asks.

"Buckle up everyone. We got a world to save." Roxas declares.

"Seriously?" Emerald said curious.

"Where are we going?" Weiss asks.

"Far, Far Away." Roxas declares.

"Okay, then we better move fast. But that still doesn't answer it." Yang said.

"No, that is the name," Roxas said confusing them.

"There's a world called Far Far Away? That sounds like something out of a fairy tale." Saya said in disbelief.

"A long time ago in a kingdom far, far, away. Oh yeah, it does." Shizuka recited.

"Not even the weirdest one I've heard," Roxas said pressing the controls and turning the Gummi Ship on. "Buckle up or hold on tight to something."

As the entire ship shook everyone scrambled to take a seat.

In the back, Cindy was casually sitting reading a magazine completely unfazed.

"Yep, she flies like a beauty." Cindy smiles.

Taking off into space, everyone looked in awe as they flew through space.

"Man, Rubes when you think about it, we're the first Huntsmen to ever go into space," Yang said amazed.

"It is pretty amazing," Ruby said as they admired the view.

"It's kinda romantic," Rei admits.

"So uh Roxas, these ship positions you're giving us. Don't suppose you need a copilot?" Takeshi asks interested.

"Actually, yeah. Interested?" Roxas asks.

"Hell yes." Takeshi grins.

"Great," Roxas said. "So while me and the teams are on patrol, I guess Shizuka you can be in charge."

"Ooh really?" Shizuka said excitedly.

Quickly leaning in, Saeko whispers in his ear making Roxas pause.

"Takeshi you're in charge." Roxas corrects much to her disappointment.

"So Roxas, you said you were going to take us in groups for these missions. Have you decided who to take?" Nora asks.

"How did you guys pick teams before?" Roxas asks.

"We kind of just went with our assigned teams. TEAM RWBY, TEAM JNPR. Kinda like that." Blake explains.

"Or TEAM REPO." Penny declares.

"Team what?" Roxas raises an eyebrow.

"Team Repurpose. That's our Team. Roxas, me Penny, Oscar, and Emerald. R-E-P-O. Repurpose." Penny spells out.

"Ooh, I like that," Oscar smiles.

"Makes sense." Emerald nods.

"So, what's a good way to decide who goes first?" Roxas asks.

Soon they had decided on a way.

"Once, twice, shoot!" Ruby, Oscar, and Jaune said doing rock, paper, scissors to decide.

As Ruby threw scissors, Jaune and Oscar threw paper.

"Yes! Team RWBY for the Win!" Ruby cheers.

"Aw, man." The other teams groaned.

"Don't worry guys, you'll get your chance," Roxas assures as TEAM RWBY approaches him.

"But in the meantime, we'll handle this," Yang assures.

"Roxas get us to Far, Far Away!" Ruby declares as Roxas pushes the controls and they raced through space for their first mission.

Upon arrival, the 5 of them exited the Normandy to see a large forest in front of them.

"You guys stay with the ship and watch yourselves," Roxas advises.

"Keep us posted if you see or hear from anyone," Jaune said.

"So what's our first move?" Ruby asks.

"To save a world, I find a keyhole and seal it. That will prevent Heartless from ever coming back." Roxas explains as they enter the forest.

"So how do we find it?" Weiss asks.

"I start by looking for Heartless. We find them, we can find the keyhole along the way." Roxas said.

"That's not exactly much to go on," Ruby said being on the lookout for Heartless.

"Hey Blake, there's something I've been meaning to ask you." Roxas starts.

"What?" Blake asks.

"The…ears. Were you born with those or did you get them another way?" Roxas asks unsure how to ask.

"I'm not a human. I'm a Faunus. And I was born with these." Blake clarifies.

"What's a Faunus?" Roxas asks never hearing that word before.

"It's a species on Remnant. We're like humans but we also have traits that resemble animals." Blake explains.

"So you're a Cat Faunus?" Roxas guesses.

"Exactly." Blake nods.

"Tyrian was also a Faunus but he lost his original tail and was given a new one," Ruby recalls.

"I'm worried about how they'll handle all this. Faunus haven't had the best treatment history-wise. They've never had a kingdom of their own and now that they were starting to build homes it's gone." Blake frowns.

Roxas was surprised. As Blake went on to describe the treatment of Faunus, he couldn't believe so many people could suffer like that for so long.

Suddenly his train of thoughts were interrupted by a noise.

"HELP!" A loud annoying voice screamed startling them.

Curious all of them ran as fast as they could only to see a Donkey being chased by Rapid Dogs.

"Someone save me! I don't wanna die!" The Donkey yells running for his life.

"Did that Donkey just talk?" Weiss asks glancing at Roxas.

"Yeah, some of these worlds have weird surprises," Roxas said throwing Oblivion hitting a Heartless and knocking it away.

Turning their attention to the team the Rapid Dog howls and almost instantly Shadows, Fluttering, and Soldier Heartless appeared.

"Oh great, reinforcements," Blake said drawing her weapon.

"So Roxas, what's the plan?" Ruby asks as Roxas pauses.

"Uh hit them until they explode," Roxas suggests.

"That's your battle strategy?" Weiss raises an eyebrow.

"Works for me," Yang said charging in and punching a soldier in the face sending it flying back.

As Shadows lunged at her, Blake fired bullets hitting them away.

Barking the Rapid Dogs charged at Blake startling her but Yang moved in front and punched one away.

"Now we're even," Yang smirks making Blake smile.

As Roxas slashed through a soldier, Ruby raced in with her semblance and cleaved a Shadow's head off.

Flying in from above, the Flutterings attacked forcing Roxas to block.

Switching modes Ruby fired at them, while Weiss acted her fire dust and hurled it into the air.

"Firaga!" Roxas hurls a giant fireball but when it collides with the dust it sets off a chain explosion causing several Flutterings to explode into darkness.

"So that's what happens when you mix Dust with magic?" Weiss asks.

"Apparently," Roxas said impressed when two soldiers attacked them.

Swinging their weapons both slash the heartless away.

Leaping into the air, Ruby swings her scythe downwards slashing a Rapid Dog in half before one lunges at her from behind.

Before she could react, a cable was thrown in front of her and it snapped into place making the Heartless rebound off it.

Smiling we see Yang and Blake were the interceptors.

"You guys might want to step back for this one," Yang said grabbing the line and spinning Blake around before throwing her upwards.

With all the Heartless in view, Blake fires down until the remaining Flutterings are destroyed.

"Whoa, did you guys learn that in training?" Roxas asks.

"Hardly. Yang and Blake have always been an awesome duo." Ruby said.

"Meaning if you ever plan on making original teams it might be wise to keep us together," Yang said making Blake giggle.

"What she said." Blake nods.

"Noted," Roxas said when they suddenly heard footsteps nearby.

"Did you catch it?" A male voice asks.

Curious look down to see several knights talking on a trail below.

"No sir, the talking donkey got away. It had an ogre with it." A knight said.

"A what?" Weiss asks in confusion.

"No matter, are the others sent away?" The leader asks.

"Yes, sent all those freaks to the swamp." A knight confirms.

"And there was a really weird group." Another said.

"How weird?" the leader asks.

"It was strange, they looked human but there was something off about them. They looked like freaks." He said as Blake's eyes widened.

"No matter, let's get out of here." The leader said as they turned to leave.

"Weird group? You don't think?" Yang starts.

"It's worth looking into." Roxas nods.

"They said they were in a swamp, let's see if we can find that." Ruby uses her semblance to race to the top of a tree.

Using her scope, Ruby scanned the area.

"You see anything?" Roxas calls out.

Narrowing her eyes, Ruby saw a large group moving towards what appeared to be a hut made from an old tree whose top was cut off.

"Wow…we don't have homes like that in Remnant." Ruby cringed before coming back down. "Well, I saw a house. At least I think it was. Anyway, there was a big group making their way towards it."

"Sounds like a safe bet. Where was it?" Roxas asks.

"That way." Ruby points as they keep walking.

A few hours later, the sun was going down they were making their way toward the swamp.

Eyes widening, TEAM RWBY and Roxas saw various Fairy Tale creatures setting up camp around the swamp.

"You weren't kidding when you said these worlds can be crazy," Yang said.

"I've never seen anything like this before," Ruby said before her eyes locked onto a wolf wearing old lady clothes.

"What?" He asks walking past her.

Pausing Ruby had no idea how to respond.

"What is all this?" Weiss said noticing a woman sleeping in a glass coffin.

Curious she approaches her feeling drawn to it for some reason.

"Hey back off!" A dwarf said smacking her hand away.

"Uh sorry it's just…" Weiss starts as 6 other dwarves grabbed the coffin.

"Please don't touch her, we need to get her inside." They said carrying her towards the house.

'Who was that?' Weiss thought confused.

Looking around Yang saw witches fly in on their brooms while a Piper was playing a tune calling tons of rats to him.

"Man, the people back home would never believe this," Yang said.

"I'm right here and I'm still processing it all," Blake said amazed before noticing a large group in the corner of the swamp.

Eyes widening she saw dozens of Faunus huddled together but there were two that got her attention.

Among them, we see a large muscular Faunus with black hair, a thick beard, and yellow eyes wearing a dark-violet coat with a white trim. Next to him was a woman cat Faunus with black hair, and yellow eyes, wearing a black hakama and sandals. These were Ghira and Kali Belladonna.

"Mom! Dad!" Blake calls out with joy.

"Blake?" Lifting their heads they saw their daughter running through the crowd towards them.

Smiling both of them stood as they hugged their daughter close.

"I thought I lost you guys." Blake smiles. "What happened to you? Why are you all here?"

"We don't know. All we remember was darkness filling the sky and then everything began to vanish." Kali starts.

"Next thing we know, we're here and these humans in armor captured us and forced us to this swamp," Ghira said.

"How did you find us?" Kali asks.

"My friends." Blake gestures.

"Hi, Blake's mom and dad." Ruby waves.

"So these are the teammates we heard so much about," Ghira said.

"Mom, Dad, these are Ruby, Weiss, and Yang." Blake introduces.

"A pleasure to finally meet you." Weiss nods her head.

"Hey." Yang waves. "Wish we were meeting under better circumstances."

"Likewise," Ghira said before noticing Roxas. "I don't remember this one."

"This is Roxas. He's a new friend. It's because of him we even found you." Blake said.

"Nice to meet you," Roxas said waving his arm.

"Blake, what's going on?" Kali asks.

"It's a long story, but we can fix this. We have a way to get you all out of here." Blake assures.

"We can't leave," Ghira said confusing her.

"What? Why not?" Blake asks.

"There are more of us. We got banished but the rest were captured and sent to the dungeons." Ghira said horrifying her.

"Do you know where they might have gone?" Ruby asks.

"I think I heard the name Farquaad," Ghira said making them cringe.

They couldn't leave if they didn't have them all.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY SWAMP?!" A loud voice booms.

Turning to the front they saw a large green ogre exiting his house with the talking Donkey from earlier nearby. This was Shrek.

Startled everyone was nervous at the green monster.

"All right, get out of here. All of you, move it! Come on! Let's go! Hapaya! Hapaya!" Shrek said trying to shoo him away but several creatures ran past him and into his house.

Looking at Donkey, Shrek glares at him.

"Hey, don't look at me. I didn't invite them." Donkey assures.

"Well gosh, no one invited us." A familiar wooden puppet said.

"What?!" Shrek said outraged.

"We were forced to come here." He said.

"By who?" Shrek asks.

"Lord Farquaad. He huffed and he puffed and he...signed an eviction notice." A pig said.

"Wait all of you? Sent by the same person?" Ruby asks.

"Yaah." The pig said.

"All right. Who knows where this... "Farquaad" guy is?" Shrek asks but no one knows.

"Oh, I do. I know where he is!" Donkey said.

"Does anyone else know where he is?" Shrek asks.

"Me! Me!" Donkey said making Shrek groan.

"Hey if you guys are going, we want to go too," Roxas said getting his attention.

"And who the heck are you guys?" Shrek asks.

"Hey! I know you! You guys saved me earlier." Donkey smiles.

"Yeah, that was us," Yang said.

"This Farquaad guy has some of my people captured. If you know where he is, then that donkey is coming with us." Blake said.

"Beat it. I work alone." Shrek said.

"Listen, we're not asking to work with you. We just need directions. After that, we'll go our separate ways." Weiss said.

"Plus you might need help in case you into any Heartless on the way over." Roxas points out getting Donkey's attention.

"There's more?" Donkey asks as TEAM RWBY nods. "They should come too."

"No way. I'm already pushing it with you." Shrek said

"Please! I can't deal with those monsters again! They're worse than the knights!" Donkey said running up to Shrek. "Please! You don't know what it's like to be attacked for no reason!"

Narrowing his eyes Shrek knew that feeling all too well and Donkey noticed.

"Oh…well maybe you do. But that's why we need their help!" Donkey said.

"Okay fine. They can come. But the second we get this mess cleared up, I want you to take all your animal people and get out of here." Shrek said.

"Deal," Blake said as they kept going.

"Attention all...fairy tale things. Do not get comfortable! Your welcome is officially worn out! In fact, I'm gonna see this guy Farquaad right now and get you all off my land and back where you came from!" Shrek declares but after a brief silence, all of them cheered happily.

"How are you not weirded out by all this?" Weiss whispers to Roxas.

"I've learned it's easier just to roll it." Roxas shrugs.

"You," Shrek said turning to all of them. "You're coming with me."

"All right, that's what I like to hear, man. Shrek, Donkey, and their band of fighters, off on a whirlwind big-city adventure. I love it!" Donkey said as they made their way out.

"Blake," Kali calls out concerned.

"Don't worry. We'll be back soon and then we can leave together. I promise." Blake vows.

"You kids better make sure of that," Ghira said.

"Don't worry, I'll look out for her," Yang confirms.

"We all will," Ruby adds.

"On the road again. Sing with me, everyone! I can't wait to get on the road again!" Donkey sang.

Cringing everyone was not a fan of this.

"Please stop singing," Roxas said.

"Can I whistle?" Donkey asks.

"No," Shrek said.

"Can I hum it?" Donkey asks.

"Fine," Shrek said as Donkey hummed the song annoying Weiss.

"This is going to be a long trip." Weiss groans.

After a long night and several hours later, the group exited a field into what appeared to be a wagon parking lot.

"That's it right there. That's Duloc. I told ya I'd find it." Donkey said as they all gazed up at what had to be the biggest castle they'd ever seen.

"This place is almost as tall as Atlas," Ruby said.

"That's Lord Farquaad's castle?" Roxas raised an eyebrow.

"Yep, that's the place." Donkey nods.

"Do you think maybe he's compensating for something?" Shrek said as he and Yang laughed.

"But the big question is what?" Yang snickers.

"Huh?" Donkey asks not getting it.

As people made their way through the castle entrance a mascot wearing a giant head was waving at the people.

"What is that?" Blake cringed.

"I think that's supposed to be Lord Farquaad." Weiss guesses.

"Hey, you!" Yang calls out but when the mascot sees Shrek he runs through the roped line.

"I'm not going to eat you! I just—" Frustrated Shrek walks straight through the ropes only for the mascot to run right into the wall and get knocked unconscious.

"Well, that was weird," Blake said as they walked through a turnstile entrance.

Inside they saw the main square which was deserted. The trees and grass were neatly cut and there were rows of houses that all looked the same.

"It's quiet." Shrek starts.

"Too quiet," Weiss adds.

"Where is everybody?" Yang asks when Donkey notices an information booth.

"Hey look at this." Donkey said pulling the lever.

Watching it curiously all of them heard a timer go off before music began to play.

As it opened, we saw several little puppets in uniform.

(Play Welcome to DuLoc)

Welcome to Duloc, such a perfect town

Here we have some rules, let us lay them down

Don't make waves, stay in line

And we'll get along fine

Duloc is a perfect place

Please keep off of the grass

Shine your shoes, wipe your… face

Duloc is, Duloc is

Duloc is a perfect place

(Song End)

As the box closed a picture went off revealing all of them had weirded out expressions on their faces.

"If I am going to get a lecture about rules, I do prefer a song," Ruby said.

"They were going to say something else instead of face. I know it." Roxas said noticing the pause.

"Let's do that again!" Donkey said eagerly.

"NO!" Shrek and Blake yelled.

As the sounds of trumpets echoed through the city, they noticed it was coming from a large arena in the center of town.

"Brave knights! You are the best and brightest in all the land, and today one of you shall prove himself better and brighter and more brutal than all the rest." A male voice echoes.

Making their way towards the arena, Donkey was humming the Duloc song.

"Stop singing that song!" Weiss snaps.

"Sorry." Donkey apologizes.

"Thank you." Shrek groans not needing that.

Entering the arena, they saw tons of knights lined up in rows as all the citizens of Duloc watched from the stands.

The arena had horses, large kegs of beer, targets, and various other equipment spread throughout the field.

On a balcony looking down at the knights with two guards at his side, was a short man with a red hat, and black hair, wearing red and black clothes and a red cape hanging from. This was Lord Farquaad.

"That champion shall have the honor- no, no - the privilege to go forth and rescue the lovely Princess Fiona from the fiery keep of the dragon. If for any reason the winner is unsuccessful, the first runner-up will take his place. And so on and so forth. Some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make." Farquaad said as the crowd cheered.

"Why are they clapping? He basically said his knights will die?" Ruby asks.

"Uh, maybe that's why?" Blake points to show a man holding a cue card that reads APPLAUSE.

"I don't think this place is as perfect as the song said." Roxas narrows his eyes.

"This place is reminding me of Atlas." Weiss cringed.

Annoyed Shrek made his way forward pushing through all the knights.

"What is that?" Farquaad asks getting a view of Shrek. "Ugh! It's hideous!"

Immediately the crowd went quiet in confusion.

"Well, that's not very nice," Shrek said glancing at Donkey before turning back. "It's just a donkey."

"Huh?" Donkey asks but Yang just snickers amused.

"Indeed. Knights! New Plan! The one who defeats these intruders and kills the ogre will be named Champion! Have at them!" Farquaad orders and immediately all the knights turn to them weapons ready.

"Give yourselves up. We don't want to have to hurt you." A knight warns.

"You guys think you can take them?" Shrek asks.

"Have some faith," Weiss smirks.

"In that case…back away from the kegs, I'll give you an opening," Shrek whispers that last part.

Curious what he meant they saw Shrek bump against a table.

"Come on. Can't we just settle this over a pint?" Shrek asks holding out a mug but the knights continue marching. "No? Alright then." Drinking the ale in one gulp, Shrek sighs. "Come on!"

Smashing the mug against the spigot the entire keg shot beer out splashing the knights.

(Play Bad Reputation by Joan Jett)

"Would you believe this isn't the first time we've fought in an arena?" Ruby asks.

"It's not mine either," Roxas said as they all drew their weapons.

Sliding along the muddy ground, Ruby uses her scythe like a hockey stick knocking a knight off his feet and into the mud.

Getting atop the second keg, Donkey ran across it making it come down on two knights crushing them underneath.

As a knight charged at Weiss with a spear, she swats his strike before slashing his leg making him fall to the ground.

From the back more knights charged in only to be met by Blake and Roxas.

Crossing his keyblades like an X, Blake ran to Roxas and launched her up over the knights.

Looking up in confusion, they left themselves open to Roxas and Ruby who slashed all but one to the ground.

As the remaining tried to counter, Blake came down kicking him in the face and sticking the landing.

"Nice! I give a 10 on that landing." Yang said making Blake blush complimented.

Nearby, Shrek was being chased by two knights into what appeared to be a wrestling ring.

Bouncing against the ropes, Shrek elbows both knights to the ground.

"Yang! Shrek needs a partner!" Roxas calls out.

"On it!" Racing across the field, Yang shoots the ground launching her into the ring.

Looking up, a knight tries to stop her but Yang punches him to the ground and releases a barrage of punches denting his armor.

Before he could react, Shrek grabbed the knight by the leg and threw him into the corner.

While Farquaad was unamused by this, the crowd seemed to enjoy the show as Roxas, Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Donkey ran to the ropes to cheer them on.

"Is it wrong that I'm enjoying this?" Roxas asks.

"Not even a little. Come on Yang!" Ruby cheers.

"Take them down!" Blake cheers.

In the ring, Yang jump kicks a knight while Shrek body slams another.

When a third came up with a spear, the crowd gasped only for Shrek to grab the spear and put the knight in a full nelson.

"Shrek! Tag me! Tag me!" Donkey yells.

Bringing the knight to the edge of the ring, Donkey headbutts him causing the crowd to cheer.

Standing up on the ropes, Yang was gesturing to the crowd. "Come on people! Make some noise!" Yang said as they cheered.

Drawing his sword a knight charged at Yang but she just smirked.

Jumping off the ropes, she did a pile driver knocking him to the ground.

"The chair! Give him the chair!" An old lady yells.

Taking her advice, Yang grabs a folding chair and smacks a knight in the head with it.

As more knights entered the ring everyone got a kick out of seeing Yang and Shrek take them down with ease before Shrek threw one into the corner post.

Using his hind legs, Donkey kicks the helmet making a dinging noise signaling the match was over.

(Song End)

With no more knights, the crowd cheered on their victors.

"Thank you! Thank you very much!" Ruby said.

"We're here til Thursday!" Shrek said.

Giving a signal, Farquaad had every guard point their crossbows down at them making the crowd gasp.

"Seriously?" Weiss said annoyed.

"Shall I give the order sir?" A guard asks.

"No, I have a better idea. People of Duloc! I give you our champions!" Farquaad declares confusing the fighters but the crowd cheers.

"What?" Blake said confused.

"Congratulations Ogre and warriors. You've won the honor of embarking on a great and noble quest." Farquaad states.

"Quest? I'm already on a quest! A quest to get my swamp back!" Shrek said.

"Your Swamp?" Farquaad asks.

"Yes, my swamp. Where you dumped those fairy tale creatures." Shrek explains.

"And we want the Faunus you have captured!" Blake adds.

"Faunus?" Farquaad asks never hearing that word before.

"Yeah everyone that looks human but is part animal. We know you have a decent amount locked up." Yang accuses.

"Indeed." Farquaad pauses. "All right, I'll make you all a deal. Go on this quest for me, and I'll give you your swamp back and your so-called Faunus."

"All of them?" Roxas asks.

"Every single one," Farquaad assures.

"And the squatters?" Shrek adds.

"As good as gone," Farquaad confirms.

Pausing they glanced at each other before glancing at the archers.

"What kind of quest?" Shrek asks.

Soon all of them were walking through a vegetable field and taking quite a few provisions for the trip.

"How do we go from rescuing Faunus from Farquaad to doing a quest for him?" Weiss asks.

"Look, if he is willing to give them all to us it's a small price to pay," Roxas said.

"What makes you think he'll keep his word?" Blake asks loading some produce into a bag for Yang to carry.

"Oh, he'll keep it. I want my swamp back." Shrek said eating some corn.

"I don't get it. Why don't you just pull some of that ogre stuff on him? Throttle him, lay siege to his fortress, grind his bones to make your bread, the whole ogre trip." Donkey suggests.

"Oh, I know what. Maybe I could have decapitated an entire village and put their heads on a pike, gotten a knife, cut open their spleen, and drink their fluids. Does that sound good to you?" Shrek asks grossing them all out.

"Uh no not really." Ruby cringed.

"For your information, there's a lot more to ogres than people think," Shrek said.

"Can you give us an example?" Roxas asks.

"Example? Uh…ogres are like onions." Shrek said holding out.

"How? Because they stink?" Yang asks.

"Yes—No!" Shrek quickly corrects.

"They make you cry?" Donkey guesses.

"No." Shrek glares.

"Oh, you leave them in the sun, they get all brown, start sproutin' little white hairs." Donkey assumes.

"No! Layers! Onions have layers. Ogres have layers! Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers." Shrek said tossing the onion.

"You know I think Faunus have layers too," Ruby said glancing at Blake.

"You think so?" Blake raises an eyebrow.

"There's a lot more to you now than when we first met you," Weiss said. "I used to think Faunus were just criminals, but you helped me see there was more."

"You were pretty ignorant," Blake said.

"Hey, I got better." Weiss defends.

"Yeah, but still, we love all parts of you, Blake." Yang smiles making her feel better.

"Sounds like you 4 have been through quite a bit together," Roxas said.

"You have no idea," Ruby said.

"Well, we have a long walk and between us, I'd rather hear you girls talk than Donkey talking," Roxas said making Ruby giggle amused.

"I guess we can share a few," Ruby said.

After a full day's worth of traveling the 7 of them arrive at a giant volcano.

As they made their way to the top, they looked in surprise to see an old ruined castle surrounded by boiling lava with the only way to reach it was by a rickety bridge.

Looking up they saw a light in the window of the tallest tower.

"Sure, it's big enough, but look at the location." Shrek laughs while everyone else is taking a minute to process this.

"So Roxas…you ever fought a dragon before?" Weiss asks.

"I've fought giant Heartless. What about you?" Roxas asks.

"We've fought Grimm but never a dragon," Ruby said.

"I guess this is a first for all of us," Roxas said.

"Uh, Shrek? Uh, remember when you said that ogres have layers?" Donkey said as they approached the bridge.

"Yeah?" Shrek asks.

"Well, donkeys don't have layers. We wear our fear right out there on our sleeves." Donkey said.

"Wait, donkeys don't have sleeves." Roxas points out.

"You guys know what I mean." Donkey glares.

"You can't tell me you're afraid of heights." Shrek gestures.

"No, I'm just a little uncomfortable about being on a rickety bridge over a boiling lake of lava!" Donkey panics looking down.

"Donkey it's easy. Watch us." Ruby said grabbing her team and Roxas.

"Wait no Ruby. Not—" Before Blake could finish Ruby used her semblance on them racing them to the other side with ease.

"Whoa. What was that?" Roxas asks amazed.

"Pretty cool right?" Ruby smiled while Blake was holding onto a rock.

"Not a word I would use." Blake groans still not a fan of that.

"See Donkey? If it could handle all of them it can handle us." Shrek said leading him to the bridge. "Come on, Donkey. I'm right here beside ya, okay? For emotional support. We'll just tackle this thing together one little baby step at a time."

"Really?" Donkey asks hopefully.

"Just keep moving. And don't look down." Shrek said as they started walking but as they were halfway Donkey stepped on a rotting plank and looked down.

"Shrek! Guys! I'm looking down!" Donkey panics.

"Donkey keep moving!" Roxas calls out.

"No! I can't do this! Just let me off!" Donkey said trying to turn around.

"But you're halfway there," Shrek said.

"But I know that half is safe!" Donkey urged.

"Okay, fine. I don't have time for this. You go back." Shrek said trying to walk forward but Donkey was unable to get past him.

"Should we do something?" Ruby asks.

"I don't know, it's kinda funny to watch those two," Yang said when Shrek swayed the bridge scaring Donkey.

"Don't do that!" Donkey panics.

"What? This." Shrek said shaking the bridge.

"Yes, that!" Donkey snaps.

"Yes? Yes, do it. Okay." Shrek smirks swaying the bridge back and forth making Donkey back up in fear.

"I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die. Shrek, I'm gonna die!" Donkey said backing up to the end. "Oh hey, guys."

"That'll do, Donkey. That'll do." Shrek smirks.

"Clever trick," Blake said.

"So where is this fire-breathing pain-in-the-neck anyway?" Donkey asks.

"Inside, waiting for us to rescue her," Shrek said.

"He meant the dragon," Ruby said as they made their way inside.

"Hey, I just realized something. If Farquaad wasn't the only one who knew about Princess Fiona do you think others have tried to save her?" Yang asks as Roxas sees something that makes him freeze.

"Yeah Yang, I think others knew." Roxas points.

Looking out, everyone froze in horror and disbelief to see the dead and destroyed remains of previous knights who tried to save her littered all over the castle.

"Look at all of them," Weiss said as they made their way through the main hall.

"They didn't even make it past this room," Ruby said with one hand on crescent rose.

Shushing them, Shrek signaled for them to be quiet.

"You guys scared?" Donkey whispers following from behind. "Because there's nothing wrong with being afraid. Fear is a sensible response to an unfamiliar situation. Unfamiliar dangerous situation, I might add. With a dragon that breathes fire and eats knights and breathes fire. It sure doesn't mean you're a coward if you're a little scared. I sure as heck ain't no coward. I know that."

While he was busy talking Donkey walked right into the remains of a knight making a crashing noise.

"Donkey stop talking for once in your life," Weiss glared.

"If you want to be helpful go over there and see if you can find any stairs," Shrek said taking the helmet and pads off the dead knight.

"Stairs? I thought we were looking for a princess," Donkey asks.

"The stairs will take us to her," Shrek said.

"No, he's right. I saw a light in the highest room in the tallest tower. That's gotta be where she is," Blake recalls.

"Cool. You guys handle the dragon, I'll handle the stairs." Donkey said opening a large door and walking down a big hall.

Making their way to the end of the hall, they reached an opening and saw the tower with the light.

"Well, at least we know where the princess is." Shrek points out.

"Yeah, but where's the—" Ruby starts.

"DRAGON!" Donkey screams.

Turning around, they saw Donkey running for his life when a giant magenta and red dragon with green eyes, large bat-like wings, sharp claws, and jagged teeth chased after him.

Seeing more intruders the dragon got up on its front legs.

"Incoming!" Roxas yells as they split up to avoid the giant fireball.

As Roxas, Yang, and Ruby ran behind some columns they caught their breath.

"I'm starting to see why no one's survived this place," Roxas said.

"Any ideas?" Ruby asks.

Glancing out, Roxas sees the Dragon was focused on Donkey more than anything.

"It's focused on Donkey so hit hard and when it's about to breathe fire run," Roxas suggests.

"Works for me," Yang said pounding her fists together.

"Help! I'm too beautiful to be eaten!" Donkey yells dropping to the floor as the dragon breathes fire singing his tail.

It was about to move in when Shrek grabbed it by the tail stopping it.

"Gotcha!" Shrek said.

Distracted, the Dragon turns its attention to Shrek giving Donkey a chance to run.

Swinging its tail back and forth, Shrek tried to hold on but instead was flung into the air crashing into the tallest tower.

"Shrek!" Roxas gasps.

"Well, that princess is in for a pleasant surprise." Yang cringed.

Turning to them, the dragon roars but the Huntresses and Keyblade wielder stand their ground.

Firing magic and bullets they pelted the dragon multiple times before it bent backwards.

"Incoming!" Ruby yells as they run in different directions to avoid the fireball.

Charging in, the dragon swings its claws but they all dodged.

Leaping up, Ruby slashes the dragon making it scream in pain.

It tried to chase after but Weiss used her glyphs to restrict its movements.

With the dragon trapped and vulnerable, Yang delivers a powerful uppercut to its chin.

Roaring, the Dragon bites at Yang but using her metal arm she stops its teeth.

"Hope you're hungry!" Yang said firing shots down the dragon's throat.

Roaring in pain, its throat began to glow meaning it was about to breathe fire.

Racing in, Blake threw her weapon at the dragon's face and the gun part exploded making it scream in pain.

Acting quickly Yang leaped out and landed next to Blake.

"That worked better on the Grimm." Yang pants grateful.

"This thing is a lot tougher than most of the Grimm we've fought," Blake said.

Looking across the room, they saw Roxas throwing his keyblades at its head knocking the dragon back.

Pulling at the ground, the dragon fought against the glyphs causing the ground to crack under it before finally breaking free.

Turning to Blake and Yang, the Dragon breathed fire at them forcing them to dodge but that led them to a ledge.

Gulping both looked at each other trying to figure a way out of it.

"Yang!" Ruby gasps.

Roaring the dragon swung its tail hitting them both sending them crashing into a nearby tower.

Thinking it had defeated 2 of them, the dragon set its sights on the remaining 3.

"That's it! It's time someone took you down once and for all!" Weiss snaps as a blue glyph circle appears under her. "Let's see you take down this knight!" Weiss said summoning a giant ice knight that rivaled the dragon in size.

Drawing its sword, the Ice Knight stared the dragon down who roared challenging it.

Charging forward both giants met in the middle clashing swords and claws.

While the dragon was distracted, Roxas and Ruby leaped into the air and slashed its stomach making the dragon scream in pain allowing the knight to slash it with its sword knocking it to the ground and causing the cracks to grow.

Pulling back its head it was about to breathe fire and all of them were in close range.

"Blizzaga!" Roxas yells creating a giant block of ice that upon contact with the fireball explodes knocking them all back.

As the knight and dragon crash to the ground, it begins to crack under the 3 of them.

Eyes widening, they tried to run but the ground under them broke sending Roxas, Weiss, and Ruby falling to the castle basement.

With nothing left in its way, the Dragon breathed fire into the building Donkey ran into causing him to race out onto a stone bridge.

Swinging its tail, the dragon took down portions of it until Donkey was stranded on a lone pillar with no escape.

"Oh no! No!" Donkey panics as the Dragon glares down at him with its teeth gleaming. "Oh, what large teeth you have!" Donkey said as the dragon roared at him. "I mean white sparkling teeth!"

Pausing the dragon looked at him curiously and Donkey realized he might be able to get out of this.

"I know you probably hear this all the time from your food, but you must bleach, 'cause that is one dazzling smile you got there. Do I detect a hint of minty freshness?" Donkey asks flattering the dragon. "And you know what else? You know what else? You're—"

Leaning in we see the dragon had long eyelashes and a small bit of lipstick around its lips.

"A girl dragon! Oh, sure! I mean, of course, you're a girl dragon. You're just reeking of feminine beauty." Donkey said as she fluttered her eyes at him. "What's the matter with you? You got something in your eye?"

Blowing a heart-shaped smoke ring at him, Donkey immediately realized what was going on.

"Ohh. Oh. Oh. Man, I'd really love to stay, but you know, I'm, uh...I'm an asthmatic, and I don't know if it'd work out if you're gonna blow smoke rings and stuff. Shrek! Roxas! Anyone!" Donkey yells trying to get out of this but Dragon grabs him by the tail and carries him away.

In another part of the castle, Yang groaned softly as she got up.

"Man, that dragon packs a punch, huh Blake?" Yang groans but gets no answer. "Blake?"

Looking around Yang noticed her Gambol Shroud lying next to a pile of rubble and instantly Yang feared the worst.

"No. No. No. No." Panicking Yang frantically dug at the rocks. "Come on Blake, don't do this to me. Not again." Yang said in a worried tone.

"Y-Yang?" Blake calls out.

Eyes widening, Yang turns to see Blake leaning against a pillar a little worn out.

"Have you seen my weapon?" Blake asks.

Smiling in relief, Yang hugged her close surprising Blake.

"Yang? What's all this?" Blake blushes.

Blushing Yang quickly let go. "S-Sorry about that. Just glad to see you're alright." Yang said rubbing the back of her head.

"Thanks for worrying about me, though," Blake said as Yang handed her back her weapon.

In the lower part of the castle, we see Ruby groaning in pain.

"Man that was some fall. You okay Weiss?" Ruby groans seeing Weiss had fallen next to her.

"Yeah, I don't know why but I barely even felt that fall," Weiss admits.

"I might have an idea." Looking down both girls saw they had landed on Roxas. "Can you please get off me?"

"Sorry." Both girls said getting off him.

"Well, that could have gone better." Roxas groans getting up.

"Roxas, how long have you led teams?" Ruby asks suspiciously.

"Honestly, leading you guys is different than having to lead Lea and Xion. I'm not used to giving out orders and strategies." Roxas admits.

"You're telling us this now?' Weiss asks.

"Roxas, why didn't you say something?" Ruby asks.

"You guys are relying on me to help you find your families and friends before worlds suffer the same fate as Remnant. I didn't want to let you guys down." Roxas frowns.

Looking at him, Ruby and Weiss realize they have been relying on his help, especially now that they can save Blake's family.

"Roxas, if you need help don't be afraid to ask for it. Leadership isn't easy," Weiss said.

"Trust me, I know," Ruby assures. "Me and Jaune struggled at the beginning but we got the hang of it."

"Well, maybe you can help me out. Be like a co-leader?" Roxas suggests.

"I can get behind that." Ruby smiles.

"So Co-Leader, what should we do first?" Roxas asks.

"What do you two think about getting out of here and regrouping with everyone?" Ruby suggests.

"I'm in," Roxas said.

"Me too," Weiss said.

"You know if I'm being honest, I think we could have beaten it if the ground hadn't broken," Roxas said.

"You think so?" Weiss asks.

"Oh yeah, with your awesome knight, me, and Ruby we could have sliced that dragon's head off," Roxas said making her giggle.

"Well, nice to know you think we can handle this stuff," Weiss said.

"I hope Shrek, Donkey, Blake, and Yang are okay," Ruby said.

"Me too," Roxas said when suddenly a roar echoed through the entire castle.

"Donkey!" All of them realized.

In a large room filled with gold coins, we see Dragon with Donkey wrapped around her tail.

"Slow down. Slow down, baby, please. Look I believe it's healthy to get to know someone over a long period of time. Just, just call me old-fashioned. I don't want to rush into a... a physical relationship. I'm not...not emotionally ready for a commitment of, uh, this, uh - - "magnitude" really is the word I'm looking for." Donkey said nervously.

Meeting up, Roxas, Weiss, and Ruby see Blake and Yang running in from the opposite side.

"You guys are okay." Weiss smiles.

"What happened to you guys?" Blake asks.

"Long story, where's Shrek?" Roxas asks.

"Haven't seen him. What about Donkey?" Yang asks.

"Uh found him," Ruby calls out peeking inside the throne.

"Is he okay?" Roxas asks.

"Uh…hard to say," Ruby said with a weirded-out look on her face.

Curious all of them peek inside to see Dragon caressing Donkey with one of her talons.

"Hey, that is unwanted physical contact. Hey, what are you doing?" Donkey asks as Dragon uses her fire breath to light a chandelier above them.

"Uh…this is a first." Roxas cringed.

"What are we looking at?" Blake asks confused.

"Uh, guys…I think the dragon is in love with Donkey." Ruby said confused.

"Are you kidding me?!" Weiss snapped but Roxas covered her mouth so she couldn't reveal their location.

"Guys look." Yang gasped pointing upwards to show Shrek was doing his own thing.

"What's he doing?" Blake asks as Shrek grabs a chain.

"He's going to swing in and grab Donkey," Roxas realized.

"Well, he better hurry. Dragon's trying to set the mood." Yang said showing Dragon close her eyes and leaning in for a kiss.

Watching him, they saw Shrek swing in only to dangle right above them.

Looking up, Shrek saw the chain was jammed. Pulling with all his might the chain loosens and he drops right down where Donkey was resulting in the dragon kissing Shrek right on the butt.

"Oh my god!" Ruby said as she and Yang burst into laughter.

"Ugh! That is disgusting!" Weiss said repulsed.

"Oh man, Nora is never gonna believe this," Yang said getting a picture.

Shuddering Blake hoped she would never speak of this moment again.

"Roxas…tell me this doesn't happen often." Blake pleads.

"Nope. First time." Roxas admits.

However, Dragon was not amused by this.

She is about to bite down on Shrek when he lets go of the chain causing the chandelier to come down on her head and wrap around her neck like a collar.

Jumping off her, Shrek grabbed Donkey and ran to his team.

"Follow me!" Shrek said jumping to a lower level to see a beautiful woman with long red hair, and a green dress waiting for them. This was Princess Fiona.

Smiling she was about to call out to Shrek when he grabbed her.

"Who are you people?!" Fiona asks.

"We're his backup!" Roxas said.

"Hi, Princess!" Donkey said surprising her.

"He talks?!" Fiona said surprised.

"Yeah, it's getting him to shut up that's the trick," Shrek said as they reached a collapsed pillar.

Turning around they saw the Dragon closing in.

"Balloon!" Roxas yells creating a ring of balloons that floated in front of them.

"Balloons? Of all the tricks in your arsenal, you pick balloons?!" Shrek snaps but the second they come in contact with the Dragon they explode stunning her.

"Ooh fun and useful," Ruby said impressed.

"Less talking more running!" Roxas said as they slid down the pillar and ran through a large hall.

With the spell wearing off, the Dragon chased after them.

Seeing it close in, Ruby noticed many pillars around them.

"Guys I got an idea!" Ruby said as they all ran in different directions.

As the dragon's chain was unraveling everyone ran in different directions forcing them to zig-zag around her.

Turning a corner, Blake and Roxas saw they were right in front of the dragon.

Roaring the dragon hurled a fireball at them forcing them to run.

Maneuvering past all the chains, Shrek let Fiona and Donkey go.

"All of you head for the exit!" Shrek said picking up a sword. "I'll take care of the dragon!"

Stabbing it through a link in the chains, Shrek ran to the exit with them.

"Run!" Shrek yells as the dragon turns towards them.

"Ruby do that thing again!" Roxas urged.

Understanding what he meant, Ruby used her semblance to outrace the dragon's fireball and make it to the other side of the bridge.

Turning around Donkey panics seeing Dragon close in when suddenly the chandelier pulls Dragon back, the sword having lodged itself into a stone column and getting the chain stuck.

Forced to fly back, Dragon lets out a roar of defeat before whimpering sadly.

Sliding down the volcano, Fiona was overjoyed to be free.

"You did it! You rescued me! You're amazing. You're wonderful. You're—" Turning around she sees Roxas and Team RWBY slide down next while Shrek and Donkey stumble at the bottom. "A little unorthodox I'll admit. But...thy deed is great, and thine heart is pure. I am eternally in your debt,"

Clearing his throat, Donkey gestures to them.

"We helped too," Ruby said.

"Of course, and what brave knight would be complete without his loyal band of warriors and his noble steed," Fiona said hugging them all.

"I hope you heard that. She called me a noble steed. She thinks I'm a steed," Donkey said.

"Loyal band of warriors. Not bad." Ruby said liking the sound of that.

"The battle is won. You may remove your helmet, good Sir Knight," Fiona urged making Shrek and everyone else pause.

"Um no," Shrek said confusing her.

"Why not?" Fiona asks.

"I have…helmet hair," Shrek said making up an excuse.

"Please. I would'st look upon the face of my rescuer." Fiona said.

"Um, that's not a good idea." Roxas cringed.

"But then how will he kiss me?" Fiona asks surprising them.

"What? That wasn't in the job description." Shrek said looking at the others.

"Maybe it's a perk." Donkey shrugs.

"No, it's destiny. Oh, you must know how it goes: A princess locked in a tower and beset by a dragon is rescued by a brave knight, and then they share true love's first kiss." Fiona recites.

"Wait you think Shrek is your true love?" Ruby asks.

"Well…yes," Fiona said.

Pausing everyone glanced at each other before they burst into laughter.

"Oh, this is too good." Ruby laughs.

"I can't breathe! I can't breathe." Yang laughs.

"What is so funny?" Fiona asks.

"Trust me on this, I'm not your type," Shrek assures.

"Of course, you are. You're my rescuer. Now-now remove your helmet." Fiona urged.

"I really shouldn't," Shrek said.

"Take it off! Now!" Fiona snaps.

"Shrek, I think we might have to get this over with." Roxas cringed.

"All right. Fine." Reaching up, Shrek pulls off his helmet revealing he is an ogre.

"You're...an ogre?" Fiona said confused but not frightened.

"What were you expecting? Prince Charming?" Weiss asks.

"Yes actually…no! This is all wrong! You're not supposed to be an ogre!" Fiona snaps.

"We're sorry for the deception but we were sent to rescue you by Lord Farquaad. He's the one that wants to marry you." Ruby explains.

"Then why didn't he come to rescue me?" Fiona asks.

"Good question. You should ask him that when we get there." Shrek said taking off the pads.

"But I have to be rescued by my true love! Not by some ogre, his band of mercenaries, and his…pet." Fiona said.

"Now we're mercenaries?" Ruby narrows her eyes.

"So much for noble steed." Donkey said.

"Listen, Princess, you have to understand a lot of people can be helped if we bring you back." Blake pleads.

"Well, I'm sorry, but your job is not my problem. You can tell Lord "Farquaad" that if he wants to rescue me properly, I'll be waiting for him right here." Fiona said sitting on a nearby rock.

"Hey! I'm no one's messenger boy, all right?" Shrek said approaching her. "I'm a delivery boy."

"You wouldn't dare." Fiona glares.

Grabbing her, Shrek puts Fiona over his shoulder.

"Hey put me down!" Fiona snaps.

"You guys coming?" Shrek asks.

"Right behind you." Donkey said.

"This is not going the way I pictured," Blake said.

"It's for the Faunus, Blake. Remember that." Roxas said as they followed him.

"Put me down or you will suffer the consequences! This is not dignified! Put me down!" Fiona said punching his back and screaming trying to break free.

Hours later, Fiona had finally calmed down to the point she was hanging off Shrek listening to Donkey.

"Okay, so here's another question. Say there's a woman that digs you, right, but you don't really like her that way. How do you let her down real easy so her feelings aren't hurt, but you don't get burned to a crisp and eaten? How do you do that?" Donkey asks.

"You just tell her she's not your true love. Everyone knows what happens when you find your—" Before Fiona could finish Shrek bumps her shutting her up.

"Why you." Fiona glares.

Glancing around to make sure no one was listening, Yang noticed Blake was in the back talking with Roxas and Ruby while Weiss was in the front.

"So, uh Princess, since you're giving out love advice. Say you liked someone and maybe that person has shown hints of liking you back, but you don't know if it's the real thing. How do you know you really LIKE LIKE them or you just like being around them?" Yang asks.

"If this person means a lot to you, and there are many things about them that you like, then you should just go for it and tell them. Telling them is much better than saying nothing at—" Fiona said only for Shrek to bump her again interrupting. "The sooner we get to Duloc, the better."

"Oh, you're gonna love it there, Princess. It's beautiful!" Donkey assures.

"And what of my groom-to-be, Lord Farquaad? What's he like?" Fiona asks interested.

"Well, let me put it this way, princess," Shrek said as they stopped near a river. "Men of Farquaad's stature are in "short" supply." Shrek jokes making them all laugh.

"I don't know, Shrek. There are those who think "little" of him." Donkey said making Yang laugh harder.

"Come on guys, cut him slack. Some are just too "small" for the big leagues." Yang jokes making Blake snicker.

"Stop it. Stop it, all of you. You're just jealous that you can never measure up to a great ruler like Lord Farquaad." Fiona assures.

"If anyone has trouble with measuring it's him," Roxas said making everyone snicker.

"Either way, we can leave the measuring to her when we get back tomorrow." Shrek urged.

"Tomorrow?" Fiona said in a worried tone as she looked towards the setting sun. "It'll take that long? Shouldn't we stop to make camp?"

"No, that'll take longer. We can keep going." Shrek said.

"If it's because of food, don't worry we have some." Ruby assumes.

"But there's...robbers in the woods." Fiona points out worrying Donkey.

"Oh man, camp is starting to sound good right about now." Donkey gulps.

"Don't worry we can handle a few thieves, right Shrek?" Roxas assures.

"Relax. I'm scarier than anything we're going to see in this forest." Shrek said but Fiona ran in front of him and Roxas.

"I NEED TO FIND SOMEWHERE TO CAMP NOW!" Fiona snaps startling them all.

"Did I used to be this unbearably pompous?" Weiss whispers to her teammates.

In the end, they set up camp near a cave which Fiona immediately claimed but not before she tore bark off a tree to use as a makeshift door.

As the sun went down, everyone but Fiona was sitting around a fire.

"Some first mission, we marched into a castle, beat up knights, then go on a quest to save a princess." Ruby lists.

"Gotta admit, this is going pretty well," Yang said as Ruby handed her the canteen.

"I just can't believe we found so many stragglers on our first try. And Blake's parents no less were among them." Weiss said.

"I know. Once we get Fiona back to Farquaad we have to find a place that's perfect for them. One that my dad can navigate." Blake said.

"Your dad?" Roxas paused confused.

"Back in Menagerie, my dad was the chief. So if we're setting up a place for the Faunus to call home it might help to keep my dad in the loop for all things regarding them." Blake advises.

"Makes sense." Roxas nods.

"The hard part is going to be telling them that I'll need to keep doing this to find more stragglers," Blake said.

"I'm sure they'll understand after we get them settled," Ruby said.

"Hey Roxas, what does your family think about doing all this?" Weiss asked but he just looked at the fire with a blank expression.

"I wouldn't know. I don't have a family." Roxas states surprising them.

"Oh…I'm sorry." Weiss cringed feeling she struck a nerve.

"What happened? Did you lose them?" Yang asks.

"Or worse, did they lose you?" Ruby asks.

"It's not like that. It's complicated." Roxas said.

Glancing at him, Weiss remembered Roxas said the same thing when they talked at the manor.

"What do you mean?" Donkey asks but Roxas cringed unsure how to say it.

"There's no shame in being an orphan, Roxas." Shrek assumes that's what he was trying to say.

"Thanks." Roxas said.

"Hey, Shrek, what are we gonna do when we get our swamp anyway?" Donkey asks looking at Shrek.

"Our swamp?" Shrek pauses.

"You know when we're through rescuing the princess and all that stuff." Donkey points out.

"There's no we. There's no our. There's just me and my swamp. And the first thing I'm gonna do is build a ten-foot wall around my land." Shrek states turning away.

"Really? After everything he's done to help you?" Roxas asks.

"You can't make an exception?" Ruby asks.

"You know what I think? I think this whole wall thing is just a way to keep somebody out." Donkey assumes.

"No, do ya think?" Shrek mocks.

"Are you hiding something?" Donkey asks turning to him.

"Never mind Donkey," Shrek said.

"Is this one of those onion things?" Donkey asks.

"No, this is one of those "drop it and leave it alone" things!" Shrek snaps.

"Why don't you want to talk about it?" Ruby asks.

"Why do you want to talk about it?" Shrek counters.

"Who are you trying to keep out?" Donkey asks.

"Everyone!" Shrek snaps surprising them.

"Now we're getting somewhere." Donkey said.

"Oh for Pete's sake." Shrek groans none of them aware that Fiona's door opened briefly.

"Why do you have a problem with everyone?" Yang asks.

"I'm not the one with the problem. It's the world that seems to have a problem with me. People take one look at me and go "Aah! Help! Run! A big, stupid, ugly ogre!" They judge me before they even know me. That's why I'm better off alone." Shrek admits.

Frowning Blake sat next to him.

"I get it. Back home, Faunus like my people treated us like garbage that we were animals. For so long I was ashamed to admit it, even to the people closest to me." Blake admits surprising him.

"It sucks when you feel like you're all alone," Roxas adds.

"You know what? When we met, I didn't think you were just a big, stupid, ugly ogre." Donkey said.

"We didn't mind hanging out with you," Ruby said.

"I know," Shrek said.

"And you know Blake, we're glad you did open up to us eventually." Yang smiles.

"Yeah…I am too." Blake smiles.

The next morning, they were all surprised to see Fiona had made them all an egg breakfast.

After eating they all made their way down the path when Shrek let out a burp.

"Shrek." Donkey scolds.

"What? It's a compliment. Better out than in, I always say." Shrek laughs.

"I can understand that." Yang snickers.

"Still, that's no way to behave in front of a princess." Donkey said as Fiona let out a louder burp surprising them all.

"Thanks," Fiona said walking ahead.

"She's as nasty as you are," Weiss remarks.

"Fiona, you're acting a lot different than we expected," Blake said.

"Well, maybe you shouldn't judge people before you get to know them," Fiona remarks walking ahead.

As she did some vocalizing suddenly Armored Archers, Dire Plants, and Bandit Heartless appeared in front of them blocking their path.

"What the?!" Fiona gasps.

"Fiona!" Shrek gasps.

"Heartless!" Roxas gasps.

"Look out! The monsters are back!" Donkey panics.

"These guys have rotten timing." Yang groans.

As a Bandit Heartless was about to charge in, Fiona leaps up and kicks it in the face.

"That's for ruining a good morning." Fiona glares surprising them.

"Whoa," Shrek said surprised.

Aiming its bow the Armored Archers fired arrows at them.

Grabbing Donkey, Shrek pulls him out of the way as an arrow bounces off a rock behind him.

As the five of them charged in to help Fiona, the Dire Plants fired seeds alongside the arrows.

"Hiya!" Doing a split kick Fiona nails two Archers in the face knocking them back.

"Where was this when we went to rescue you?" Weiss asks slashing an Archer multiple times before stabbing it in the chest making it disappear.

"A girl has to have some surprises," Fiona smirks.

Racing towards the Dire Plants, Roxas delivered several quick and powerful slashes destroying them.

With no more seeds being fired at them, they were able to take on the Bandits and Archers with ease.

Nearby a Bandit swung its sword at Blake but she blocked it allowing Ruby to move in and slash its head off destroying it.

As Yang delivered an uppercut to an Archer sending it flying upwards, Blake and Roxas struck two Bandits sending them flying.

Looking up Fiona saw them coming and jumped doing a spinning kick taking all three heartless out at once and sticking the landing.

With all the Heartless destroyed Fiona walks to Shrek.

"Shall we?" Fiona gestures before walking ahead.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on now. Where did that come from?" Shrek asks.

"What?" Fiona asks playing it casually.

"Don't what us. You didn't tell us you could fight like that." Roxas said.

"Where did you learn that?" Shrek asks.

"Well when one lives alone, uh, one has to learn these things in case there's a...there's an arrow in your butt!" Fiona points.

"What?' Turning around we see one of the Heartless had shot an arrow into Shrek's butt.

"What? Oh, would you look at that?" Shrek said playing it casual.

"How are you not freaking out?!" Ruby asks.

"Why are you?" Shrek asks.

"Roxas, you gotta heal him." Weiss urged.

"My magic can heal him but we need to remove that arrow," Roxas gestures.

"This is all my fault I'm so sorry." Fiona apologizes.

"For what?" Donkey asks finally catching up.

"Shrek's hurt." Roxas gestures.

"Shrek's hurt! Shrek's hurt?! Oh no Shrek's gonna die!" Donkey panics.

"Donkey calm down!" Blake said.

"You can't do this to me, Shrek. I'm too young for you to die! Keep your legs elevated! Turn your head and cough! Does anyone know the Heimlich?!" Donkey panics.

"Donkey!" Fiona said grabbing him by the ear. "If you really want to help Shrek. I need all of you to run into the forest and find me a blue flower with red thorns."

"All of us?" Ruby asks. "How does a flower help?"

"We're wasting time woman! Let's go! Blue flower, red thorns. Don't die, Shrek." Donkey said as Roxas and Team RWBY spread out. "And if you see a bright tunnel stay away from the light!"

"Donkey!" Shrek and Fiona yell before he runs off too.

"What are the flowers for?" Shrek asks.

"For getting rid of Donkey and to spare the others from seeing this," Fiona explains. "Now let's pull that thing out."

Gulping Shrek was not a fan of this.

Splitting up, Blake and Weiss were searching together.

"This has been one of the weirdest missions I've ever been on," Weiss said.

"It's weird though. The way Shrek made things sound. It's like there's small parts of Remnant in this place too." Blake said.

"How does Roxas not lose it with every world he goes to?" Weiss asks.

"I don't know how but I guess he's used to it." Blake shrugs searching for the flower.

"I'll have to ask him later," Weiss said.

In another part, Yang and Ruby were searching together.

"What do you think Fiona needs a blue flower for?" Yang asks.

"Maybe it's some kind of medicine." Ruby shrugs.

"You don't think Fiona just wanted some alone time with Shrek, do you?" Yang asks.

"What makes you say that?" Ruby asks.

"Fiona's suddenly acting nicer to him. To all of us. Why do you think that is?" Yang asks.

"People change, remember how closed off Blake was to us? But she opened up eventually." Ruby points out.

"I guess that's true." Yang pauses.

As Roxas was looking around, he noticed some apple trees nearby and got an idea.

Finally, Donkey was walking by some bushes.

"Blue flower, red thorns. Blue flower, red thorns. Blue flower, red thorns. This would be so much easier if I wasn't color-blind! Blue flower, red thorns." Donkey recites.

Suddenly throughout the forest, they heard Shrek's screaming.

"Shrek! I'm coming!" Biting down on a random flower which happened to be a blue flower with red thorns, Donkey ran back.

Rushing back, they arrive to see Fiona had fallen on top of Shrek.

"Ahem." Donkey clears his throat getting their attention.

"If you guys wanted alone time all you had to do was ask," Yang smirks.

"Oh, come on! That's the last thing on my mind. The princess here was just—" Before Shrek could finish Fiona pulls the arrow out of his butt making him scream in pain.

"There. That wasn't so bad." Fiona smirks.

"Ow." Shrek groans.

Needless to say, the rest of the walk back was interesting, to say the least. Shrek and Fiona were bonding quite a bit and they seemed to enjoy each other's company.

Eventually, they arrived at a Windmill on the outskirts of Duloc.

"There it is, princess. Your future awaits you." Ruby gestures.

"That's Duloc?" Fiona asks surprised.

"Yeah, I know. You know, Shrek thinks Lord Farquaad's compensating for something, which I think means he has a really…" Before Donkey could finish Shrek stomps on his foot. "Ow!"

"I guess we better move on." Shrek urged.

"The sooner we get you back, the sooner we can save all the Faunus," Blake said eager to see her family again.

"Sure, but Shrek…I-I'm worried about Donkey," Fiona said.

"What?" Shrek asks.

"What are you talking about?" Weiss asks.

"I mean, look at him. He, he doesn't look so good." Fiona gestures but while everyone thought he looked fine, Shrek smiled knowing what she was thinking.

"What are you talking about? I'm fine." Donkey said.

"Well, that's what they always say and then...then...then the next thing you know, you're on your back. Dead." Fiona points out scaring him.

"You know, she's right. You look awful. Do you want to sit down?" Shrek asks.

"I'll make you some tea." Fiona offers.

"Come on, can't we wait until later?" Blake asks.

"I didn't want to say anything, but I got this twinge in my neck, and when I turn my head like this, look." Donkey said turning his neck sharply and they heard a loud crack.

Smiling Shrek and Fiona found an excuse to stall for time.

"Who's hungry? I'll find us some dinner." Shrek said walking away.

"I'll get the firewood," Fiona said.

"Shrek! Fiona wait!" Blake called out but it was too late.

Walking over, Yang patted her on the shoulder.

"It's one more night Blake. They'll be fine." Yang said hopeful.

"Oh man, I can't feel my toes." Donkey said freaking out.

"You don't have toes." Roxas points out.

"Oh god! You're right! I need a hug!" Donkey pleads.

"You know I'm gonna make sure that windmill is good enough for Fiona," Roxas said walking out.

"Right behind you," Weiss said following after.

"Maybe we can find some blankets inside," Blake said following them.

"I'm gonna go get some water," Ruby said walking away.

"Ooh sunflowers, maybe I can get some seeds," Yang said as they all walked away leaving Donkey alone.

As the sun was beginning to set, Shrek had caught rats for dinner and while Fiona was happy to dig in, TEAM RWBY was not a fan of this.

"Hey if you girls are hungry, I might have something you want." Roxas offers.

"Roxas, I doubt you have anything I want," Weiss said.

"Suit yourself," Roxas said before they heard a crunching noise.

Lifting her head, Weiss turned around to see Roxas eating an apple.

"Where did you get that?" Weiss asks.

"Oh, when Fiona sent us on that flower chase, I found an apple tree and decided to pick a few," Roxas said reaching into his coat and pulling out some apples.

"And you're just telling us this now?" Yang smiles as Roxas tosses her, Blake, and Ruby.

"Better than rats," Blake said.

"But aren't you part cat don't you…" Roxas starts.

"I'm not a full cat; I don't chase and kill mice." Blake glares.

"Sorry. Still learning this stuff." Roxas apologizes.

"Cut him some slack. He's not saying to be mean." Yang said.

"Alright," Blake said eating her apple.

"Here," Roxas said handing one to Weiss who happily ate it. "Sorry if I sounded weird. Each world is a little different. Some are obvious and some are more cryptic."

"While some are just crazy?" Ruby guesses.

"You have no idea. I've been to quite a few and seen some others." Roxas said.

"Alright, what's one of the craziest worlds you've ever been to?" Yang challenges.

Pausing Roxas thought about it for a few minutes.

"There's this world. It has a castle where everyone inside is cursed. All the servants and staff were objects: a candelabra, a clock, a teapot, and literally everything, but the one who had it the worst was the master of the castle. He was cursed to be a horrible beast. There was only one person in the whole castle that was human." Roxas said getting their attention, especially Blake's. "A girl named Belle the only person Beast cared about more than anything. When she was kidnapped, he risked everything to rescue her because even though he was a monster she didn't see that."

"She fell in love with him? A beautiful girl with a monster?" Blake asks.

"They cared for each other. It's kinda sweet. Shows that if you let the right person into your heart it can lead to surprising things." Roxas said.

Blake didn't know why but she felt drawn to this story.

"What happened to them?" Weiss asks.

"I don't know. I haven't been to that world in a while. I hope they're doing well." Roxas said when he noticed Shrek and Fiona. "Well look at that."

Glancing at the fire, they saw Shrek and Fiona gazing at each other when Donkey stepped in.

"Man, isn't this romantic? Just look at that sunset." Donkey said startling Fiona.

"Sunset?!" Fiona gasps standing up. "Oh no! I mean…it's late. It's very late."

"Late? What are you talking about?" Ruby asks.

"What's with you? You did the same thing last night?" Yang asks.

"Wait a minute. I think I know what's going on." Donkey assumes. "You're afraid of the dark, aren't you?"

"Yes, that's it. I'm terrified. You know, I'd better go inside." Fiona said going to the windmill.

"Don't feel bad, Princess. I used to be afraid of the dark, too, until - Hey, no, wait. I'm still afraid of the dark." Donkey realized.

"Why am I not surprised?" Weiss rolls her eyes.

"Good night," Fiona said going inside.

"Good night," Shrek said watching her.

"Well, now we know why you two were so eager for a break," Yang said.

"What are you talking about?" Shrek asks.

"Come on, Shrek we're not idiots. You like her." Blake said.

"You're crazy. I'm just bringing her back to Farquaad." Shrek denies.

"Oh, come on, Shrek. Wake up and smell the pheromones. Just go on in and tell her how you feel." Donkey urged.

"There's no point. Even if I did tell her and I'm not saying I do she's a princess…and I'm…" Shrek paused.

"An ogre?" Roxas finished.

"Yeah," Shrek said standing up and walking away.

"Where are you going?" Ruby asks.

"To get more firewood," Shrek said.

Glancing to the side, they saw there was already a giant pile.

"Maybe one of us should go talk to him," Ruby suggests.

"I'll go," Blake said walking after him.

Walking to the hill overlooking Duloc, Shrek sat down.

"Mind if I join you?" Blake asks walking over.

"I'd say no, but you guys don't seem keen on listening." Shrek deadpans as Blake sits down next to him.

"Yeah, we've had experience going against orders," Blake said.

Sitting in silence for a few minutes just taking in the view, Shrek took a deep breath.

"You know Blake, you're lucky," Shrek said.

"Yeah, how so?" Blake asks.

"You're different but you've surrounded yourself with people who like you. You have a chance at getting the love you want. I don't." Shrek said.

"Maybe you do too," Blake said.

"Doubtful," Shrek said.

"Listen…if I told you something would you keep it between us?" Blake asks.

"I don't have anyone else to tell," Shrek said.

"There's someone that I really like. An extraordinary person, but it's a little hard to say my true feelings because deep down I'm worried that they'll reject me." Blake admits.

Turning to her, Shrek puts his hand on her shoulder.

"I think whoever you love would be lucky to have you," Shrek said making her smile. "Tell anyone I said that and I'll deny it with every bone in my body," Shrek said making her giggle.

"My lips are sealed," Blake said.

"Thanks, listen. I just want to be alone for a while. Are you going to listen or keep annoying me like Donkey?" Shrek asks.

"I can do that," Blake said standing up to leave.

"Hey, Blake," Shrek calls out. "This person you're in love with. When you're with them, do you get this warm feeling inside? Something that makes you feel as long as you have them in your life it's all that matters?"

Pausing Blake thought about said person and smiled softly. "Yeah…I do."

"Then I hope you have better luck than me," Shrek said as Blake walked away.

As the moon rose and the sky darkened, we saw Roxas and Team RWBY talking around the fire while Donkey slept and Shrek was still by the sunflowers.

"Let me see if I got this right. Even though Faunus are almost identical to humans they were treated less than humans and war broke out because they wouldn't give you equal rights. And even when you got them, nobody wanted you to have them which led to a revolution?" Roxas recites.

"Pretty much," Blake said.

"Am I missing something? Why did people want to do this?" Roxas asks.

"Equality isn't something everyone is on board with. Look at how Farquaad is treating magical creatures." Weiss said.

"Sorry if I said anything offensive." Roxas apologizes to Blake.

"It's fine, Roxas. You don't know what our world is like." Blake said.

"Kinda glad I don't. We definitely don't have issues like that in Twilight Town." Roxas said.

Suddenly they heard a thud coming from inside the windmill.

"What was that?" Ruby said as Donkey woke up.

"What if one of those monsters went after Fiona?" Donkey gasps.

Worried for her safety, the 6 of them ran to the windmill and opened the door.

"Princess Fiona?" Roxas calls out.

Looking around they saw shadows and cobwebs but no sign of the princess.

"Princess?" Donkey calls out.

"Are you okay? We heard a noise." Ruby calls out.

As a shadowy figure was sneaking around them, the figure stepped on a rotten board and fell across from them.

Startled they saw the dust clear and a figure emerged.

Screaming in horror, Donkey ran behind Yang.

"No! No! Calm down!" Emerging from the dust an ogress approached them.

"Who are you?! What did you do with the princess?!" Weiss accuses.

"I'm the princess. It's me, in this body!" She said.

"Oh, my God! She ate the princess! Get her!" Donkey panics.

"No! It's me." Stepping forward they saw the ogress was wearing the same green dress, had red hair, and a crown. Just like…

"Fiona?!" Blake said in disbelief.

"W-What happened to you?" Ruby asks.

"You look…different." Yang gestures.

"I'm ugly, okay," Fiona said not beating around the bush.

"Was it something you ate? I knew those rats were a bad idea." Donkey assumes.

"No. I've been this way for as long as I can remember." Fiona admits.

"What are you talking about? We've been traveling for days and we never saw you like this." Roxas said when Weiss realized something.

"Except when the sun goes down and you need someplace to stay," Weiss recalls and Fiona nods.

"By night one way, by day another. This shall be the norm... until you find true love's first kiss... and then take love's true form." Fiona recites looking at her reflection in a barrel of water.

"This sounds like something in your books, Blake," Yang said.

"Fiona, what is that?" Blake asks.

"It's a spell. When I was a little girl, a witch cast a spell on me. Every night I become this. This horrible, ugly beast!" Fiona said smacking the water before sitting down. "I was placed in a tower to await the day my true love would rescue me. That's why I have to marry Lord Farquaad tomorrow before the sun sets and he sees me...like this."

Horrified, they realized why Fiona was so eager to be rescued, why she was so big on true love. It was her only hope of removing the curse.

"You know…it's actually not that bad when you get used to it," Ruby said trying to help.

"Yeah, and like you said you're only like this at night," Yang said.

"You got it easy. Look at Shrek. He's ugly 24/7." Donkey adds.

"But I'm a princess. This is not how a princess should look." Fiona gestures to herself.

Frowning Weiss knew that pain all too well having to be forced to look perfect herself.

"Fiona, what if you didn't marry Farquaad?" Donkey asks.

"I have to. Only my true love's kiss can break the spell." Fiona reminds.

"If you ask me, you seem to like being around Shrek more." Roxas points out.

"Shrek?" Fiona pauses.

Just outside the windmill, Shrek was walking towards the steps with a sunflower in hand.

"Princess, I…uh, how's it going, first of all? Good? Um, good for me too. I'm okay. I saw this flower and thought of you because it's pretty and…well, I don't really like it but I thought you might like it cause you're pretty. But I like you anyway." Shrek said to himself before sighing. "I'm in trouble. Blake made this sound so easy." Shrek said taking a deep breath. "Okay, here we go."

As he made his way up the steps, he could hear them talking.

"I can't just marry whoever I want," Fiona said.

"Take a good look at me. I mean, really, who could ever love a beast so hideous and ugly? "Princess" and "ugly" don't go together. That's why I can't stay here with Shrek." Fiona said.

Eyes widening in shock, Shrek believed she was talking about him.

"My only chance to live happily ever after is to marry my true love. Don't you see? That's just how it has to be." Fiona said.

Stepping away from the door, Shrek throws the flower to the ground and walks away.

"You need to at least tell Shrek this." Donkey said.

"No! You can't breathe a word. No one must ever know." Fiona urged.

"Fiona, take it from a girl who wore a bow over her ears to hide what she was. Keeping a secret about who you are never working out. People find out eventually." Blake urged.

"Promise you won't tell. Promise. I'm looking at you too, Donkey." Fiona urged.

"Fine, we won't tell. But you should." Donkey urged as they walked out.

Looking to the ground, Fiona sees the sunflower Shrek had tossed.

"You wore a bow over your cat ears?" Roxas asks.

"It's a long story; we'll tell you later," Weiss said as they walked out.

The next morning, we see Fiona picking the petals from the sunflower.

"I tell him, I tell him not. I tell him, I tell him not…I tell him." Fiona smiles reaching the last petal.

Making her way out, the sunlight hit Fiona changing her from ogre to human.

"Hey!" Fiona calls out waking everyone up.

"What is it?" Roxas groans.

"Where's Shrek?" Fiona asks.

"We don't know. When we left, he was gone." Ruby yawns as Shrek returns with an angry look on his face.

"Shrek, are you all right?" Fiona asks.

"Perfect, never been better," Shrek said sarcastically.

"There's something I have to tell you," Fiona said.

"You don't have to tell me anything, princess. I heard enough last night." Shrek said as everyone sat up in realization.

They hoped they would talk but not like this.

"You heard what I said?" Fiona said surprised.

"Every word." Shrek declares.

"I thought you'd understand," Fiona said.

"Oh, I understand. Like you said, who could love a hideous, ugly beast?" Shrek recites.

"But I thought that wouldn't matter to you," Fiona said.

"Well, it does," Shrek said when a trumpet flared and a group arrived. "Right on time."

Turning around everyone saw Farquaad in armor riding on his horse as a squad of knights followed behind.

"Princess Fiona." Lord Farquaad smiles.

"As promised. Now hand it over." Shrek orders.

"Very well, ogre. The deed to your swamp, cleared out, as agreed. Take it and go before I change my mind." Farquaad said as a knight held out the deed.

Walking up, Shrek took it from his hands.

"Shrek, what's going on?" Roxas asks.

"Holding up our end of the deal. What about them?" Shrek gestures.

"As for the rest of you, all the creatures called Faunus are gathered at Duloc castle waiting for you all." Lord Farquaad gestures.

"All of them?" Weiss asks.

"From the Swamp and the dungeons, all in one place." Farquaad clarifies.

Glancing at each other, they should be happy to hear that but circumstances made it difficult.

"Forgive me, Princess, for startling you, but you startled me for I have never seen such a radiant beauty before. I am Lord Farquaad." He introduced.

"Lord Farquaad? Oh, no, no. Forgive me, my lord, for I was just saying a short…" As she was talking Farquaad snaps his fingers and a knight picks up him.

Lifting him off the horse we see he was using gauntlets and leg extenders to control the reins.

"Oh man I want to laugh so hard right now," Yang cringed trying to keep it together.

"Not a good time," Weiss whispered.

"Farewell." Fiona finished.

"Oh, that is so sweet. You don't have to waste good manners on the ogre. It's not like it has feelings." Farquaad mocks.

"No, you're right. It doesn't." Fiona glares as Shrek looks away clearly hurt by that statement.

"Princess Fiona, beautiful, fair, flawless Fiona. I ask your hand in marriage." Lord Farquaad asks getting down on one knee. "Will you be the perfect bride for the perfect groom?"

As Fiona glances at Roxas and Team RWBY all of them are shaking their heads. Turning her gaze to Shrek, his back was still turned to her.

"Lord Farquaad, I accept. Nothing would make—" Fiona starts.

"Excellent! I'll start the plans, for tomorrow we wed!" Lord Farquaad interrupts.

"No! I mean uh why wait? Let's get married today. Before sunset." Fiona urged.

"Oh, anxious, are we? You're right. The sooner, the better. There's so much to do!" Farquaad snaps his fingers and is lifted back onto his horse. "There's the caterer, the cake, the band, the guest list. Captain, round up some guests!"

"Fare thee well, ogre," Fiona said walking away.

"Shrek, are you sure you want this?" Roxas asks.

"More than anything," Shrek said walking away.

"Shrek, what are you doing? You're letting her get away!" Donkey said.

"So what?" Shrek asks.

"Shrek, listen there's something you don't know." Donkey starts.

"Oh I heard you, you're all great pals. So why don't you follow her or them home." Shrek urged.

"But…I wanna go with you." Donkey said.

"Hey I told you, didn't I? You're not coming home with me. I live alone! My swamp! Me! Nobody else! Understand? Nobody! Especially useless, pathetic, annoying, talking donkeys!" Shrek snaps.

"What is your problem?!" Weiss snaps.

"My problem what's yours?!" Shrek snaps.

"He's your friend. You don't talk that way to your friends!" Weiss said.

"Shrek, I know you're angry but—" Roxas starts.

"But nothing! You have what you want! I have what I want! This partnership is done! Finished! Over! Now gather up your weird animal freaks and leave me alone!" Shrek snaps walking away.

"But I thought…" Donkey starts.

"You thought wrong!" Shrek said leaving.

Frowning Donkey looked at them and shook his head.

"Nice knowing you guys." Donkey said walking away.

Frowning, Team RWBY hated this. Fiona, Shrek, and Donkey were all going separate ways, they wanted to help but they just messed things up for all of them.

"Roxas, what do we do now?" Ruby asks.

"The only thing we can do. Let's go get your parents, Blake." Roxas said as they walked away.

Arriving at Duloc, we see Farquaad in a white tux leading the 5 of them down the hall.

"So where is everyone?" Blake asks.

"In there," Farquaad said gesturing to a door.

As Blake opens the door, she eagerly walks in first but to her confusion sees a dark empty room.

"Mom! Dad!" Blake called out but didn't see anyone.

"Where is everyone?" Ruby asks.

"Yes well, you see…there's been a change of plans," Farquaad said when suddenly a large net was dropped down on Blake forcing her to the ground.

"Blake!" Yang gasped when suddenly multiple knights emerged from the shadows and grabbed her, Ruby, Weiss, and Roxas.

"What is going on?!" Roxas snaps.

"When I saw you all make my strongest knights look like jokes I realized something. You shouldn't be bargaining with me, you should be serving me." Farquaad said with an evil grin.

"We'd never serve you!" Ruby snaps.

"Oh I think you will, if you don't I'll kill every human/animal freak you came to save. Starting with that one." Farquaad said as several knights grabbed Blake and put a chain around her neck.

"Blake!" Detaching her arm, Yang wiggles free from the knight and runs to her.

"Stop her!" Farquaad orders as a large beefy executioner tackles Blake to the ground across from Blake.

Reaching out, both tried to grab each other's hand but as they were inches apart the two girls were pulled away.

"You'll never get away with this." Roxas glares.

"That's no way to talk to your new king. Perhaps some time in the dungeons will help." Farquaad said as they were taken away.

Down below, while Fiona is preparing for her wedding, we see Yang, Ruby, and Weiss with chains around their legs and their weapons confiscated.

Across from them, Roxas was in a separate cell.

"Girls…I'm so sorry." Roxas frowns.

"It's not your fault Roxas. You didn't know Farquaad was a lying piece of garbage." Weiss said.

"Can't believe Fiona's marrying him," Roxas said.

"And if we don't listen to him, he's going to kill Blake and all the Faunus." Ruby groans. "We wanted to help but we just made things worse."

Sitting on the floor, Yang felt terrible. She was so close, but she let Blake get captured. And now she and her entire family were in danger and she couldn't do anything.

As Ruby looked around, she noticed a Gingerbread man with his legs broken off lying on a plate near the cell.

"Ooh, a cookie." Ruby smiled at her favorite snack hoping it would lift her spirits.

"Wait, Ruby what if it's poison?" Weiss asks as Ruby picks it up.

"Well, maybe just one of these," Ruby said reaching for a gumdrop button.

"No not the buttons! Not my gumdrop buttons!" It yells startling her.

Dropping the cookie on the plate he groans in pain.

"Even cookies are alive in this place?!" Weiss snapped.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were alive," Ruby said picking him up.

"Please, I've had it rough enough as it is," Gingy said struggling to get back onto the plate.

"Who are you?" Ruby asks.

"I'm the Gingy, the Gingerbread man. Or at least I was until Lord Farquaad captured me. He ripped my legs off and tortured me. Made me tell him everything about magical creatures," Gingy sobs.

"That monster," Ruby said horrified.

"That's what I said," Gingy said sitting up. "Is it true that there's a Princess here?"

"Yeah, Princess Fiona. We brought her here." Weiss said.

"Oh no, no, no," Gingy panics as Roxas leaned against his cell.

"What's going on?" Roxas asks.

"Farquaad is just using her," Gingy said getting their attention. "I was there when the magic mirror told him. He's just marrying her so he can be king."

"What?!" The four of them snapped.

"The second he puts that crown on his head, we're all doomed." Gingy declares.

"I can't believe this! He never cared about Fiona at all!" Weiss snaps.

"Hey shut up! Don't speak ill of Lord Farquaad!" A knight said as he and another knight walked past them carrying Ruby, Weiss, and Blake's weapons along with Yang's arm.

Narrowing his eyes, Roxas knew what he had to do.

"I swear, if I get out of here, I'm gonna kick Farquaad's ass," Yang growls.

"Hey, where's Roxas?" Weiss points.

"Huh?" Looking up they saw his cell door was open.

Confused they suddenly heard yelling followed by a whacking sound.

A few seconds later, Roxas walked up to their cell holding their weapons and Yang's arm.

"Need a hand?" Roxas asks holding up her arm making Yang snicker.

"How did you get out of your cell?" Ruby asks as Roxas summons Oathkeeper.

"These things aren't called keyblades for nothing." Walking up Roxas taps the locks and the door opens.

Using it on the locks, Weiss, Ruby, and Yang got up.

"Ok if you guys are open to it, I have a plan." Roxas offers.

"What do you get?" Ruby asks.

"We bust out this prison, free Blake and the Faunus, stop Fiona from making the worst decision of her entire life, beat up everyone who tries to stop us, give Farquaad the royal butt-kicking he clearly deserves, and get the hell out of this crazy kingdom." Roxas lists.

"Why didn't we do that the first time we came here?" Yang asks.

"Wow Roxas, I thought with how things were going you weren't big on breaking rules." Weiss assumes.

"One thing you all should know about me; I hate following orders. If someone orders me to do something I don't like, I'll do anything possible to avoid it" Roxas declares with a grin making the three girls smile.

"Roxas, we are going to get along just fine." Ruby smiles.

Running out of their cell, they searched the dungeons to find everyone.

Running down one hallway, Yang stops to see Blake all alone in a cell.

"Someone order a prison break?" Yang asks.

Looking up Blake smiles happy to see her.

Punching the door down, Yang ran over.

"I was worried for a second," Blake said.

"Only a second?" Yang smirks.

"I knew you'd figure a way out. You're extraordinary that way." Blake smiles.

"You've never been intimidated by me. Even when you didn't like me that much." Yang said.

"I was a little wary of people in general," Blake said as Yang picked at her shackles.

"But you never gave up on them. You know what matters to you." Yang said freeing her. "Blake…so much has happened in such a short amount of time. And as I saw Shrek and Fiona falling in love, it made me think about stuff…with you and I don't want to make the same mistake they did."

"Yang. Just say it." Blake urged.

"I think…I love you." Yang confesses.

"I love you too." Blake smiles.

Overjoyed beyond words, the two girls gazed into each other's eyes before slowly leaning in until their lips touched.

Briefly separating the two girlfriends were officially a couple.

"Uhm…" Blushing the two girls turn around to see Roxas, Ruby, and Weiss staring at them.

"Did we miss anything?" Yang asks.

"Uh…someone want to fill me in on this?" Roxas asks.

"It's been a long time coming. That's all you need to know." Weiss assures.

"Blake, as much as I would love to continue this, we have a wedding to crash," Yang said holding up Blake's Gambol Shroud.

"I'm listening," Blake said.

"So are we?" Looking down the hall, Blake's eyes widen seeing Ghira, Kali, and all the Faunus lined up with weapons.

After breaking out of the dungeons, they raced towards the church where an army of knights was standing guard.

"Farquaad's in there. If we want to get to him, we need to get past them." Ruby said.

"We can take them," Ghira said.

"Are you sure?" Roxas asks.

"Trust us, we've been itching for some payback," Ghira growls when Weiss notices something.

"Seems like we're not the only ones." Weiss points.

Looking up, they were surprised to see Dragon land in front of the church with Shrek and Donkey on her back.

"Go ahead, have some fun. If we need you, I'll whistle. How about that?" Donkey said as Dragon attacked the guards.

As the guards ran away in fear, all the Faunus raced out to join the fight.

"You kids get moving! We'll handle them!" Ghira said grabbing an axe and charging in to lead the battle.

As the Faunus went to get some much-needed payback, Dragon was enjoying herself as well chasing the knights.

"Shrek! Donkey!" Turning around the two of them saw their friends race over.

"Am I glad to see you guys." Shrek smiles.

"What are you doing here?" Blake asks.

"I came to get Fiona back. I know I don't deserve it but I'm sorry for being a jerk and a lousy friend." Shrek apologizes.

"What happened to you?" Ruby smiles amused.

"He finally listened to me." Donkey said.

"So uh…Dragon?" Weiss gestures.

"Turns out she's a real sweetheart." Donkey smirks confusing Weiss even more.

"Just roll with it." Roxas reminded as she shook her head.

"Alright let's do this," Shrek said as they kicked the door open just as Fiona and Farquaad were about to kiss. "I OBJECT!"

"Shrek?" Fiona said surprised.

"Oh, now what does he want?" Farquaad said annoyed as Roxas and TEAM RWBY ran in after.

"Hey there, lovely day for a wedding," Ruby said as they all raced behind Shrek.

"What are you all doing here?" Fiona asks.

"Really, it's rude enough being alive when no one wants you, but showing up uninvited to a wedding." Farquaad glares.

"Don't you go there," Yang growls.

"Fiona, I need to talk to you," Shrek said.

"Oh, now you wanna talk? Well, it's a little late for that, so if you'll excuse me—" Fiona leans in about to kiss him but Shrek pulls her away.

"You can't marry him!" Shrek urged.

"Why not?" Fiona asks.

"He's just marrying you so he can be King!" Roxas declares making the entire town gasp.

"Outrageous! Fiona don't listen to him!" Farquaad urged.

"He doesn't love you! He never did!" Ruby adds.

"He was just using you like he wanted to use us!" Weiss said.

"He's not your true love," Shrek said.

"And what do you know about true love?" Fiona asks.

"Well…uh…I mean." Shrek stutters surprising Fiona.

Farquaad was amused.

"Oh, this is precious. The ogre has fallen in love with the princess! Oh, good Lord." Farquaad laughs.

Flipping through cue cards, a man held one up to the crowd that said LAUGH, and everyone in the church laughed.

Growling, Team RWBY, and Roxas hated Farquaad with every passing second.

"Shrek, is this true?" Fiona asks.

"Who cares?! It's preposterous! Fiona, my love, we're but a kiss away from our "happily ever after." Now kiss me!" Farquaad orders as small shreds of darkness emit from him.

"Oh no." Roxas gasps.

"Don't do it!" Yang yells.

"He's not worth it!" Ruby yells.

Looking out the window, Fiona saw the sun was setting. "By night one way, by day another." Fiona recites before facing Shrek. "This is what I wanted to show you earlier."

As the sun set, Fiona's spell surrounded her body causing her to turn into an ogress surprising everyone but the ones who knew.

"Well, that explains a lot." Shrek smiles.

"Ugh, it's disgusting! Guards! Guards! Get them out of my sight!" Farquaad orders but no guards come.

"Sorry guess, they're a little preoccupied," Weiss smirked as they approached the front.

"No one is here to save you this time shorty." Yang glares cracking her knuckles.

"You'll never be king." Blake declares making something snap in him.

"All this hocus-pocus alters nothing, this marriage is binding, and that makes me king!" Farquaad said putting the crown on his head. "SEE?! SEE?!" Farquaad roars as darkness surrounds him.

"What's happening?!" Fiona gasps running to Shrek.

"The darkness in Farquaad's heart is growing. Growing to the point—" Before Roxas could finish the darkness created a large red and black jester-like Heartless with long spindly legs, long black arms that was juggling swords, red and yellow armor, and Farquaad's ridiculous hat on his head.

"I will rule this entire world and will destroy any magical freak or annoying brat who gets in my way!" Farquaad orders as the Scarlet Mefist split into 2.

"You girls ready?" Roxas glares as they draw their weapons.

"Divide and conquer. Weiss, Blake you two are long-range and keep the guests safe." Ruby starts.

"Everyone else. Let's go!" Roxas roared as he, Ruby, and Yang charged in.

Taking a deep breath one Scarlet Mefist blew flames at them but Weiss slammed her rapier down creating a wall of ice to block it.

Slamming her fist against the ice wall it shattered pelting both Heartless.

Sliding in between them, Roxas came up behind one and struck it in the back.

Shaking it off, the Scarlet Mefist threw swords into the air forcing Ruby to leap up onto the chandeliers.

"I suggest you all get down! It's about to get ugly!" Ruby yells as all the citizens duck under their seats in fear.

Spinning downwards, Ruby slams her scythe against the one Scarlet Mefist but the Heartless is still standing.

Swinging its other arm, the Scarlet Mefist whacks Ruby sending her skidding across the floor.

Switching to gun mode, Ruby fires shots at it.

As the second Scarlet Mefist engulfed itself in flames it charged at Yang.

Raising her arms, Yang tried to block the attack but the heat made her cringe.

"They need help!" Fiona said.

"I'm with you!" Shrek said.

Using her semblance, Blake's clone tosses her into the air allowing her to throw her gun surrounded with ice dust making it explode in the Scarlet Mefist's face stopping its attack and making it stagger back.

With an opening present, Yang rushed forward punching the Scarlet Mefist in the gut sending it crashing against the wall.

Across the chapel, Roxas unleashed a barrage of dual keyblade strikes while Weiss used her glyphs to keep him in the air.

Using her semblance, Ruby rams into the Scarlet Fefist knocking it into the other.

"No! Stop them! Destroy them!" Farquaad snaps.

As the two Heartless were about to get up two sets of chains were thrown pinning them down.

Surprised they saw Shrek and Fiona holding the two Heartless down with their combined strength.

"You mind hurrying up?!" Shrek yells.

"We can't hold them much longer!" Fiona yells.

Not needing to be told twice, Roxas charged in.

"Weiss remember that combo we did earlier?" Roxas asks.

Nodding Weiss released tons of Fire Dust.

"Firaga!" Roxas yells as his fireball collides with the dust setting off a chain of explosions around the Scarlet Mefists.

Leaping through the smoke, Yang hurls a flaming punch destroying one of them.

In a flurry of rose petals, Ruby flies in and slashes it across the chest before Blake appears behind her.

Stabbing her weapon through its chest she jumped back as Oathkeeper, Oblivion, and Weiss' raiper flew in impaling alongside Blake's weapon.

Diving in, Yang punches all 4 blades allowing them to pierce through its chest destroying it.

"And then there was one." Shrek glares as everyone sets their eyes on Farquaad.

"No! No! This is my story! I will have an order! I will have perfection! I will have—" Before Farquaad can finish Shrek whistles loudly.

Flying in from the window, Dragon crashed through with Donkey riding on her head.

Before Farquaad could escape, Dragon bent down and swallowed him whole in one gulp.

"All right! Nobody move! I got a dragon here, and I'm not afraid to use it!" Donkey threatened as all the remaining knights backed away. "I'm a Donkey on the edge!"

Behind them, the door opens revealing Ghira, Kali, and all the Faunus.

Belching Dragon spits up the crown that rolled along the floor stopping at Ghira's feet.

"Celebrity marriages, they never last, do they?" Donkey jokes as the town claps amused. "Go ahead Shrek."

Smiling everyone parted ways so Shrek and Fiona could reunite.

"Fiona…I love you." Shrek declares.

"Really?' Fiona smiles.

"Really, really." Shrek smiles.

"I love you too," Fiona responds as the two of them kiss.

Grabbing a marker, Ruby swipes a cue card and writes on it. Holding it up to the audience it said AWWWWW!

"Awww!" Everyone in the church said playing along.

Suddenly Fiona began to glow as the magic spell lifted her into the air.

Engulfed in a bright light it explodes around her destroying all but one stained glass window with Farquaad on it before being lowered to the ground.

Seeing one was leftover; Dragon punches it shattering the glass.

"Fiona, are you okay?" Shrek asks approaching her.

Helping her up, Fiona sees she is still an ogre.

"I don't understand. I'm supposed to be beautiful." Fiona said confused.

"But you are beautiful." Shrek declares.

Sniffling Team RWBY tears up overjoyed when suddenly Farquaad's crown begins to glow.

"What's happening?" Ghira asks as Roxas approaches him.

"May I?" Roxas asks summoning Oblivion.

Walking to the edge, Roxas held up his keyblade he shot a beam of light into the sky causing a giant keyhole to appear.

"That's the keyhole?" Weiss said in awe.

"Incredible." Ruby smiles.

Raising his keyblade, Roxas seals it preventing Heartless from ever coming back.

As the light dies down a new keyblade appears in Roxas' hand. The handle and hilt were shaped like Shrek's swamp hole, the blade was Fiona's tower with a red dragon wrapped around the edge to make the teeth, and the keychain was Fiona's tiara.

"Okay, that is pretty cool," Weiss said impressed.

"So, what's going to happen to this place now?" Shrek asks.

"Without a King, Duloc will probably fall to ruin," Fiona points out.

"Not necessarily," Roxas said getting their attention. "This place just needs a king. Someone who knows how to rule and care for its people."

"Yeah, but where are we going to find someone like that?" Donkey asks.

"Right here." Picking up the crown, Roxas walks straight towards Ghira leaving him and all the Faunus speechless.

"Roxas? What are you doing?" Blake asks.

"You said it yourself. The Faunus have never had a kingdom of their own, but here's a kingdom without a king." Roxas said.

"You want me to be a King?" Ghira asks in disbelief.

"If you want to. I'm not going to force you; I promised I'd help you find a new place to call home. If you want to give this a chance, be my guest. If not, I'll take you with me. But what do you say?"

Pausing Ghira looked at all the Faunus and then at his wife and daughter.

They were somewhat familiar with the way things were so adjusting wouldn't be so hard.

Slowly Ghira looks to the people of Duloc.

"I won't force you all to stay, I can't promise Duloc will be perfect but if you all will give me a chance. I will try to make this kingdom a place to call home…for all of us." Ghira said as everyone muttered to themselves.

Walking up to him, Roxas put the crown on his head.

"All hail King Ghira Belladonna!" Roxas declares.

"All hail King Ghira!" The people and Faunus chanted.

"Oh my god!" Ruby squeals in realization.

"What?" Weiss asks.

"If Blake's dad is a King, that means Blake is a Princess!" Ruby points out.

"I am?" Blake said in disbelief.

"Oh I am going to love teasing you over this," Yang smirks.

After all the chaos from the wedding died down, we see the Faunus and the people working to make adjustments to Duloc.

"Here," Roxas said handing Kali a gummi phone. "If for any reason it's not working out for any of you give us a call and we'll come and get you."

"Roxas, I can't thank you enough for this," Kali said.

"Think nothing of it," Roxas said as she hugged him in thanks.

"A human boy crowned a faunus King. Who is this friend of yours?" Ghira smiles.

"Roxas is very unique." Blake smiles.

"Well, I'm glad you met," Ghira said.

"You sure I can't convince you to come with us? There's more than enough room for all of you." Blake said.

"Blake, you made the most of this opportunity let us try to make the most of this one first." Ghira urged.

"All right," Blake said seeing they wouldn't back down.

"But if you ever miss us, we're just a call away," Kali said walking over.

Smiling Blake hugged both her parents.

"I love you both," Blake said.

"We love you too." Kali smiles.

"So, this Yang girl," Ghira smirks making Blake blush.

Glancing over, she sees Yang, Weiss, and Ruby talking to Fiona, Shrek, and Donkey.

"You guys sure you can't stay for the wedding?" Shrek asks.

"Thanks but we're good," Weiss said not looking forward to a swamp wedding.

"Thank you all so much for everything," Fiona said gratefully.

"Anytime Fiona." Ruby smiles.

"Keep an eye on these two, Donkey." Yang urged.

"Oh, you don't have to worry about me. I ain't ever leaving Shrek's side." Donkey assures as Dragon leans in and nuzzles him. "Well…after Dragon and I have some quality time together."

Cringing Weiss still found this weird.

As the Normandy arrived to pick them up, the 5 of them walked into the clearing.

"Oh hey by the way! There's a little gingerbread man in the dungeons. Can you make sure he gets back on his feet?" Ruby asks.

"Too late Ruby." Turning around, Ruby saw Gingy walking towards her with a candy cane walking stick revealing his legs were glued back on with magic shell frosting.

"Gingy!" Ruby smiles with big eyes.

"You didn't think I would let you leave without saying goodbye." Gingy smiles.

"Take care of yourself Gingy. Farquaad's not gonna push you around anymore." Ruby said.

"Not anymore, this cookie has some fight in him," Gingy said swinging his candy cane like a scythe making Ruby giggle.

"So, what did you guys think? We saved this world, gave the Faunus a new life, helped Shrek and Fiona, and took down an evil King. Not bad for a first time, huh?" Roxas asks.

"Roxas, for the first time in a while I feel we really did some good." Ruby smiles.

"Thank you for letting us be a part of this." Weiss smiles.

"If anything I should be thanking all of you. You didn't have to say yes, and I appreciate it." Roxas smiles walking ahead.

Behind them, Yang and Blake were walking together.

"The others are in for a surprise when we tell them what happened," Yang said.

"Oh yeah," Blake said as they walked together hand in hand.

Their first mission was a success but there were still more worlds out there and more loved ones to find.

Here's a hint for the next world: Cold water makes me a girl, hot water makes me a guy
