Yes, the money Ash made from the movie wasn't much, but in the games the money you make from Pokestar Studios is actually nothing. And while Ash is the titular character of his movies, he's also a new actor so he isn't being paid star levels of money.

Yes Ash does need to learn how to keep his friends out of dangerous situations, and while the Durant situation wasn't entirely his fault, he did take action in trying to protect them and we'll see him be more proactive at that in the future
We find our heroes finally having reached Undella Town, enjoying the warm weather and white sand for the day.
"Alright, I let the Nurse Joy know about the Durant issues and approximately where we had found them." Elliot said, walking back to the beach where Rosa was relaxing. "Where's Ash by the way?"
"Over there." Rosa commented, lying back on the beach chair, Herdier at her feet.
Off in the distance
"Alright Servine use Leaf Tornado but have it hit that pile of sand." Ash called out.
"Is he still at that?" Elliot asked curiously.
"Ever since he realized Servine evolved into Serperior, they've been working at trying to use Leaf Storm." Rosa said with a sigh.
Servine flipped about, trying to get his Leaf Tornado to try and reach further than just right around him.
"Alright let's take a break for a bit and get some running in. Who's with me!" Ash said excitedly.
"I'm good right here." Rosa said.
"No thanks." Elliot remarked.
"Alright then, just me and my team, let's go guys!" Ash said, as he took off down the beach with Pikachu, Servine, Dewott, and Riolu hot on his heels.
"Lolo." Solosis said, floating around Rosa's beach umbrella.
"Trubb?" Trubbish asked, looking out of a trash can, noticing Ash was gone.
A bit further down the beach
"Alright guys, let's take five." Ash said, stretching as he looked out over the open waves. "Stu Deeoh said to start heading north tomorrow, so might as well enjoy this weather while we're here right!"
Ash looked over the horizon, seeing something approaching from the water.
"What is that?" Ash asked. "Is it, a giant Basculin?"
"Is that a confused twerp I hear?" Jessie asked.
"I believe it is, you'd think after all these years he'd know better." James explained.
"Enough yapping, let's get his Pokemon and get out of here!" Meowth said, as a net was launched at Ash's quartet of Pokemon.
"Dewott use Razor Shell!" Ash exclaimed.
Dewott sliced at the net to no avail as he, Pikachu, and Riolu were all caught in it's grasp.
"You really didn't think we'd plan for that after he turned sides back in Driftveil?" Jessie asked. "Now how about you hand over that Servine and maybe we'll let you go."
"Not happening! Now give me back my Pokemon!" Ash exclaimed.
"Not happening, meh meh meh." Jessie taunted. "Scolipede let's go!"
"Seismitoad come on out too!" James exclaimed.
"Servine use Leaf Tornado!"
Servine flipped into the air, sending out a tornado of leaves around him as he bounced into Seismitoad.
"Scolipede use Poison Tail!"
"Seismitoad use Drain Punch!"
Scolipede and Seismitoad teamed up on Servine, striking the grass type to the ground with relative ease.
"Pikachu try and break free with an Iron Tail! Dewott use Aqua Jet! Riolu use Force Palm! Servine get out of there and use Energy Ball!"
As Ash's Pokemon tried to break free from the net as Servine slithered out from the two larger Pokemon, firing off an Energy Ball that Scolipede easily absorbed.
"Give it up twerp, you've lost it." Meowth taunted.
"Scolipede use Steamroller!"
"Seismitoad use Hyper Voice!"
"Servine look out!" Ash exclaimed, getting in the way of Scolipede's attack, getting pinned down himself. "Go get the others, we need help!" Ash grunted.
"Meowth, why aren't we moving yet?" James asked.
"It's that traitor Dewott, he's strong enough to keep our sub from going backwards." Meowth said, seeing Dewott alone using Aqua Jet to counter the force of their jets.
"Well he can't keep up forever, use full force!" Jessie argued.
"What do you think I've been doing woman?!" Meowth countered angrily.
"Ser. Vine!" Servine exclaimed, rushing at Scolipede, knocking the bug type off of Ash, having run at full speed at it.
"Servine!" Ash exclaimed.
"Serv." Servine said proudly before looking at Seismitoad and Scolipede.
"You want to try it again, alright use Leaf Storm!"
Servine flipped into the air, sending a storm of leaves, striking Seismitoad and Scolipede dropping the water type to his knees.
"You did it Servine, now again!" Ash exclaimed.
Servine sent out another Leaf Storm, more powerful than the last, dropping Seismitoad completely as Scolipede began feeling the effects of the attack.
"Scolipede don't just stand there! Use Steamroller!" Jessie barked.
Scolipede launched at Servine, pinning the grass type to the ground.
"Servine use Wrap!"
Servine extended his vines, trying to trap the bug type to get the upper hand to no avail, as he was pushed deeper into the sand.
"Servine!" Ash exclaimed, as a light shot out from beneath Scolipede, as a long tail, wrapped it's way around the bug, squeezing it tightly.
"Perior." A voice said, slithering back out with ease.
"Alright Servine, or Serperior you evolved!" Ash exclaimed, before getting a serious look on his face. "Let's send these two back and rescue the others, what do you say?"
"Perior." Serperior said in acknowledgement.
"Alright then, send them packing with an Aqua Tail!" Ash exclaimed.
Serperior flicked their long tail, coating it in massive amounts of water from around them, slamming it into Team Rocket's Pokemon and sending them flying back onto the top of their submarine, startling the trio inside.
"Now let's get the others!" Ash exclaimed, as Serperior dove into the water taking off towards the net that was becoming visible thanks to Dewott's work.
"Dew!" Dewott exclaimed, seeing Serperior as the grass type looped their tail through the net, pulling at it in one direction as Dewott pulled in the other, breaking the net and freeing the three Pokemon inside as Serperior grabbed Riolu and Pikachu before returning to shore.
"Alright, Serperior you've earned this one. Use Leaf Tornado!" Ash called out.
"Perior!" Serperior exclaimed, sending his most powerful Leaf Tornado straight out, striking the Basculin sub, before it set off a series of explosions, sending the five Team Rocket members blasting off.
"Looks like we're blasting off again!" The trio exclaimed.
