"Ahh, welcome to the Opelucid City gym, you must be Ash." An older gentleman said.
"Yes sir, and this will be my seventh gym badge here in the Unova Region." Ash responded.
"Very well then Ash, and I do hope Drayton didn't give you too much trouble." The gentleman said.
"No sir." Ash replied.
"So Mrs Ketchum, how many of Ash's gym battles have you seen?" Rosa asked.
"Oh this will be one of his first matches I will see live." Delia admitted. "I've seen some of his earliest league battles live, but never a gym battle proper."
"Well then, you'll be in for quite the surprise no matter who he uses in this battle." Elliot said, thinking of the menagerie of Pokemon that Ash had collected in Unova.
"Very well then, our match will be a four on four battle, standard rules for any gym battle, and you may call me Drayden." The gentleman said.
"Alright then Drayden, don't hold back." Ash said, grabbing a Pokeball.
"Druddigon I choose you!" Drayden called out.
"Garbodor come on out!" Ash called out.
"That certainly is an interesting choice of Pokemon." Delia commented. "Is it good?"
"Debatably." Elliot commented.
"Garbodor use Body Slam!"
"Druddigon use Revenge!'"
Garbodor rushed forward, slamming into Druddigon as the dragon type retaliated, slamming their arm across Garbodor's body.
"Garbodor use Sludge Bomb!"
"Druddigon use Dragon Tail!"
Garbodor belched up a Sludge Bomb on Druddigon before being tossed back into their Pokeball by a dragon tail, having switched out with Duosion.
"Duosion, alright use Telekinesis!"
"Druddigon use Rock Slide!"
Druddigon summoned a flurry of rocks only for them and Druddigon to be stuck floating in the air.
"Now use Psychic!"
Duosion shuddered before sending all of Druddigon's rocks back at the dragon type, striking them multiple times in a row.
"Druddigon launch forward and use Crunch!"
"Use Shadow Ball!"
Duosion sent out a Shadow Ball, striking Druddigon before the dragon type bit down on the psychic type, breaking Duosion's concentration, dropping their telekinesis.
"Duosion switch out! Come back out Garbodor!"
"Druddigon use another Dragon Tail!"
"Garbodor use Gunk Shot!"
Garbodor raised his arm, firing a gunk shot from one of his fingers, Druddigon being drenched in the ball of garbage.
"Now Garbodor use Body Slam!"
While Druddigon was still recovering from the previous attack, Garbodor slammed into him with a full body attack, sending the dragon type crashing into a wall.
"Oh my." Delia commented, Pikachu still in her arms.
"Good work Druddigon, return." Drayden said.
"Come on Grandpa show him what's for!" Drayton called out, earning a scolding look from Drayden. "Right, sorry."
"Now Flygon show the power of the earth and skies of legend!" Drayden called out, sending out the dragon type as it flew around the large dragon statue.
"Garbodor return! Come on out Dewott!"
"Dew!" Dewott said, wielding his scalchop as he was sent out.
"Flygon use Dragon Tail!"
"Dewott block with Razor Shell!"
Flygon spun around, flinging his tail towards Dewott as the water type held his scalchop steady, holding off the attack from switching him out.
"Dewott use Ice Beam!"
"Flygon use Crunch!"
Dewott flung Flygon out of the way, before firing a freezing beam from his free hand, striking one of the dragon's wings as they lost control.
"Dewott use Razor Shell!"
"Flygon use Earth Power!"
Flygon controlled their plummet, landing on the ground before shaking it, tossing Dewott off of his feet, sending his scalchop way off course from their intended target, striking and getting struck in the large dragon statue.
"That seems bad." Delia said.
"It is, Dewott uses that Scalchop as his weapon." Rosa said. "Without it that means he can't use Razor Shell or Fury Cutter."
"Don't Dewott usually have two scalchop's though?" Drayton questioned.
"Dewott, catch!" Ash said, throwing the other scalchop from his pocket to the water type.
"Flygon get it with Crunch!"
Dewott raced forward, grabbing the spare scalchop at the same time as Flygon caught it in their mouth.
"Dewott use Razor Shell!"
Dewott focused, swinging Flygon overhead with all of his might, the dragon type letting go of the scalchop and slamming into the large statue, knocking free his other scalchop.
"Dew!" Dewott said, rushing forward to grab the other scalchop, wielding both once more.
"Dewott use Fury Cutter!"
Dewott wielded both of his scalchops, slicing them in an x formation knocking Flygon out from the compounded damage.
"You were great Flygon, take a long rest." Drayden said, returning the green dragon to it's Pokeball. "Now come out Altaria!"
"Dewott are you good to keep going?" Ash asked.
"Dew!" Dewott said with a confident smirk.
"Alright, use Razor Shell!"
"Altaria use Cotton Guard!"
Altaria took to the skies, fluffing their wings as Dewott launched both of his scalchops at the dragon Pokemon, striking them twice.
"Altaria use Dragon Pulse!"
"Dewott use Ice Beam!"
Dewott fired a freezing beam that pierced through the dragon pulse before Dewott was engulfed in the attack, with Altaria deflecting his own.
"Dewott use Razor Shell!"
"Altaria use Sing!"
Altaria gave off a melodious song, entrancing not only Dewott but Pikachu, and Rosa's Minccino as well.
Rosa saw through the reflection of Elliot's glasses, the Pokemon she'd befriended beneath Village Bridge dancing to the song.
"Stop that." Rosa hissed.
"What, I'm just watching the battle." Elliot remarked.
"Right, n-never mind." Rosa said, as the Pokemon stopped their dancing.
"Dewott return!" Ash called out. "Garbodor come on out! Use Smack Down!"
"Altaria use Fire Blast!"
Garbodor launched a shot right at Altaria, striking the Dragon type down as he was engulfed in flames.
"Garbodor now use Gunk Shot!"
"Altaria use Dragon Pulse!"
Garbodor lined up his shot, firing at Altaria, his poisonous shot landing from above as he was struck by the Dragon Pulse.
"Altaria return. Now it is time to end this. Haxorus come out!" Drayden called out.
"Garbodor let's do this quick and messy! Use Gunk Shot!"
"Haxorus use Dragon Dance!"
Haxorus took the gunk shot as he pranced about, gaining speed and power as a result.
"Garbodor use Body Slam!"
"Haxorus use Dragon Tail!"
Haxorus and Garbodor slammed into each other with enough force to wake up Pikachu as he leapt out of Delia's arms and onto the battlefield in place of Garbodor as the poison type was forced through a switch out.
"Pikachu use Iron Tail!"
"Haxorus use Shadow Claw!"
Pikachu leapt at Haxorus, his tail striking against the mighty dragon's claws.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Haxorus use Dragon Tail!"
Pikachu leapt off of Haxorus's arms, into the air, getting out of the way of the dragon tail before firing off a thunderbolt that struck through the dragon.
"Haxorus use X Scissor!"
"Pikachu use Charge Beam!"
Pikachu gathered the electricity between his paws before firing off a beam of electricity at the dragon type, piercing through the X Scissor attack and striking the dragon moments before Pikachu himself was sent tumbling back from the impact.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Haxorus use Dragon Tail!"
Haxorus swung towards Pikachu, the two being covered in the power of Pikachu's electricity, knocking out the dragon type.
"Congratulations on your victory Ash, here in recognition I present you with this, the Legend Badge." Drayden said, holding it out to Ash.
"Thank you Drayden." Ash said.
