Noted about the gender, I do make mistakes and in my albeit weak defense, the red female symbol blends in a bit against her Bisharp's background on Bulbapedia on my iPad. As for the Kingambit, just remember not long ago I had an Annihilape in Johto. Anywho, onto the story!
"So final 16, how are we looking?" Elliot asked.
"N is still in the running." Ash said.
"So are we though." Hugh reminded. "Any luck on the recruiting front?"
"Yeah, we've been getting some trainers agreeing to help us if anything happens, how about you?" Rosa asked.
"I've been working on it." Hugh admitted. "Who do you have for your next round opponent?"
"I've got Steve." Ash said, recognizing the sometimes friend, sometimes rival from the other club tournaments.
"Pretty sure his name is Steven." Elliot commented.
"No, definitely Steveo." Hugh pointed out.
"What about you Hugh, who's your opponent?" Rosa asked.
"Some kid named Geraldo." Hugh admitted.
"He has to be strong to make it this far in." Rosa said.
"Or just got some lucky match ups." Ash reminded.
"Just know after this round we're officially rivals again until we need to be on the same side." Hugh said with a smirk.
"Alright Hugh, best of luck today." Ash said, shaking his rivals hand.
"You too Ash, don't loose until I finally get my full battle against you." Hugh said with a smirk.
At the arena
"Alright Steve, let's both give it our all!" Ash said. "Come on out Garbodor!"
"It's Stephan you know that!" Stephan exclaimed in exasperation. "Liepard let's go!"
"Garbodor use Gunk Shot!"
"Liepard use Double Team!"
Liepard's form shuddered, creating four extra copies of it as one was struck by the Gunk shot, dispersing the shadowy clone.
"Garbodor use Body Slam!"
"Liepard use Shadow Claw!"
The four remaining Liepard leapt at Garbodor, slicing at him as he rushed forward into another, taking damage as he missed the real Liepard once again.
"Liepard use Shadow Ball!"
"Garbodor use Sludge Bomb!"
Garbodor launched a ball of sludge up and into the center of the three Liepard, dispersing the center clone as he was struck back by the shadow ball.
"Got ya." Ash said, seeing some of the residue from the sludge bomb sticking to one of the Liepard. "Garbodor use Gunk Shot!"
"Liepard use Hyper Beam!"
Garbodor fired a ball of poisonous gunk into the air, arching over Liepard's Hyper Beam and striking the dark type as Garbodor was pushed back by the hyper beam.
"Garbodor use Sludge Bomb!"
Garbodor launched a ball of sludge at the recovering Liepard, knocking them out finally, even with the downside of loosing so much health in the process.
"Liepard come on back!" Stephan called out. "Now come on out Zebstrika!"
"Looks like Blitzle evolved, but we beat him before, and we can beat him again." Ash said with a smirk. "Garbodor use Gunk Shot!"
"Zebstrika use Giga Impact!"
Zebstrika galloped across the arena, easily dodging Garbodor's attack before slamming into the massive poison type, sending it tumbling back with the massive force of their attack.
"Garbodor use Gunk Shot!" Ash called out.
Garbodor coughed, catching his breath before pointing his arm out at Zebstrika, his finger guns jamming, causing it to back fire, even making Garbodor look ill.
"Garbodor return!" Ash called out. "You did great, now come out Darmanitan!"
Darmanitan landed on the battlefield, slamming her fists on the ground as Zebstrika finished recharging from his previous attack.
"Darmanitan use Flare Blitz!"
"Zebstrika use Wild Charge!"
The two Pokemon, engulfed in each of their raw elemental energy rushed at each other as fire and electricity collided, creating a bright light in the center of the arena.
"Darmanitan use Hammer Arm!"
Darmanitan slammed her fist down, shaking Zebstrika off balance, before beating her own chest.
"Did Darmanitan, just use Belly Drum on her own?" Rosa asked.
"Last time she had a real fight was against N and Skyla, maybe this is her showing she wants to use that move, regardless of how Ash feels after what happened." Elliot commented.
"Darmanitan use Rollout!"
"Zebstrika use Stomp!"
Darmanitan curled into a ball, rushing at Zebstrika, the electric type slamming their front hooves on top of them, digging Darmanitan into the ground with a KO.
"Darmanitan return." Ash said.
"Not good, we forgot just how tough Zebstrika has been, Ash needs a winner to turn this around." Rosa remembered.
"Golett come on out!" Ash called out with confidence.
"It's, genius." Elliot said in surprise. "With Golett's typing Ash has a huge chance that Stephan's last two Pokemon can't hurt him."
"You think so?" Rosa asked.
"We know Stephan prefers his Zebstrika and Sawk from the times we've met him, and Golett's typing makes them immune to Normal, Fighting, and Electric types." Elliot pointed out. "Types both of those Pokemon excel in using."
"Zebstrika use Wild Charge!"
"Golett use Bulldoze!" Ash called out.
Golett slammed his fists on the ground, shaking the field of the arena, knocking Zebstrika about before it slammed into Golett, knocking him about, but not doing much to him.
"Golett use Mega Punch!"
Golett raised his fist, firing it at Zebstrika, slamming them into a wall before knocking it out.
"And Zebstrika has been knocked out by Golett!" The judge declared.
"No matter, if anyone can hit hard enough to knock that guy out, it's Sawk!" Stephan declared, switching in his fighting type.
"Hey Elliot, any chance that Sawk could hit Golett?" Rosa asked.
"Of course, any move not of those three types would hit them, surely in preparation for the league, he would have brought such a move." Elliot commented.
"Sawk use Bulk Up!"
"Use Shadow Punch!"
Golett rocketed forward, slamming his fist into Sawk's gut as he fighting type flexed, keeping strong.
"Use another Bulk Up!"
"Use Mega Punch!"
Golett continued punching Sawk switching back and forth between the two punches as Sawk kept raising his stats more and more.
"If Sawk can hit Golett, this is it." Rosa said nervously.
"Use Close Combat!"
Sawk launched a flurry of punches at Golett, striking all of the ground types parts multiple times, causing him to collapse in a heap.
"Golett!" Rosa exclaimed.
"Haha! I won! I actually won!" Stephan cheered.
"Not so fast Stephan, Golett has a unique ability to their physiology." Ash said, as Golett began reforming. "They are a ghost type after all. Now Golett use Focus Punch!"
Golett pulled their arm back before swinging it forward, sending Sawk flying with the fist.
"Golett use Mega Punch!"
Golett rocketed the rest of himself forward, slamming his second fist into Sawk while reconnecting to his other hand, the fighting type dropping to the ground limp.
"And Sawk is unable to continue battling, the winner is Golett and Ash!" The announcer declared.
"I'll be honest Ash, using a Pokemon like that to fight me was pretty smart." Stephan said.
"Don't sell yourself too short, you did manage to take out both Garbodor and Darmanitan." Ash reminded. "Look, I'm asking for your help here pretty soon, can I count on that?"
"At this point I'm not going anywhere, don't worry." Stephan said with a smirk. "Best of luck in the final eight."
