"When you're finished with dinner, I want you to start on your chores. Afterwards I want you to start your homework. No Tik Tok, Snap Chat, or YouTube. Got it?"

Cora nodded her head seriously at Jamie and picked at her food. Looking up at him, she tried to keep her temper in check. That was all Eddie.

"When am I going to be ungrounded dad? I've been doing everything you've been telling me to do for the last month and a half."

With an unimpressed look, Jamie shook his head.

"I want you to learn how to be responsible honey."

Cora felt her jaw drop. She knew she was being responsible.

"But I am being responsible daddy! I've been doing what you said!"

Jamie sighed. Cora was as head strong as Eddie was. When she got to thinking something, she wasn't going to budge. But on this particular subject of being responsible, he wasn't going to budge at all.

"You don't think I haven't noticed you sneaking onto Snap Chat in the last month?"

Cora furrowed her eyebrows.

"How did you…?"

Then it dawned on her. Of course he knew. She continued her conversation.

"Of course, you knew dad. I forgot. You grew up in a house full of cops!"

Everyone at the table could only look at Cora. Eddie gave Cora a serious look.

"Cora honey, your dad means well. He really does. He loves you. Wait, Jamie how did you know she was on Snap Chat?"

Jamie looked at Eddie and shook his head.

"I may be a doctor, but I've got my sources."

Now it was Eddie's turn to sigh.

"Finish your dinner Cora and then start your chores please."

Cora felt her jaw drop again.

"Mom! I thought you would take my side!"

Eddie shook her head.

"Sorry honey. But your dad and I have to be a united front. One of us can't just give in."

Cora put her fork down on her plate and pushed her chair out.

"I'm full, may I please be excused?"

Jamie nodded his head and motioned at her.

"You may."

Jamie and Eddie watched as Cora emptied her have eaten plate of spaghetti into the garbage, rinse her plate and place it in the dishwasher along with her fork. The other kids by now had finished up their dinner and were going to start their chores as well. Jamie blew out a breath and shook his head.

"Do you think I'm being too hard on her babe?"

Eddie shook her head no.

"I don't think so bub. She's been pushing too many boundaries lately. I know she's a teenager, we both know that, but she needs to know where the line is. Her emotions are all over the place. She's still having nightmares about what happened at Eric's party. It's probably partially why she's lashing out at you Jamie."

Jamie smirked and looked at Eddie, pulling her into a hug. When he let go he put in his two cents.

"When did you become a psychiatrist babe?"

Eddie shrugged her shoulders.

"I haven't. I've been reading some articles on how to deal with teenage outbursts."

Jamie went over towards the sink and wrapped his arms around her waist. Then he peppered a few kisses down the left side of her neck. Stopping for a moment, he gave his answer.

"I'm so proud of you babe. It hasn't been easy in the last year with Cora, but you've shown a strength I've never seen in you before."

Eddie nodded as Jamie went back to kissing the side of her neck.

"We were both teenagers once Jamie. I would rather set some strong and clear boundaries with her than to have her grow up like I did and have too much freedom. I think what happened with Eric scared her. But she's starting to like boys, and I worry about her sometimes. I just want her to be safe. I don't want her to get pregnant."

Jamie sighed against the back of Eddie's neck. If he was honest, he'd been thinking the same thing.

"It's why we need to set clear boundaries for her."

Jamie didn't believe his own words though. They could weather this storm. They were strong together.
