A Total Drama and Hazbin Hotel Crossover Story
Chains of Fire: A Teen's Heroic Quest through Hell
A Night to Remember
Chapter 1
(Note, the story will begin on the set of Total Drama Action right after the cowboy challenge when Gwen breaks up with Trent. Justin hears their conversation and decides to take a different approach. What will he do? Wait and see, it may be worth your time.)
Overhearing Trent and Gwen's conversation, Justin's anger flared. He had just learned that Trent was deliberately undermining their team's chances of winning, all to impress Gwen, who had ended their relationship over it. It seemed ludicrous. Without better knowledge, Justin might think Gwen had manipulated Trent, knowing he would do anything for her, like a lovesick puppy. But Justin refused to overlook this; he couldn't let Gwen or Trent off the hook. They had to face consequences, but what should he do? Typically, Justin left decisions to others, like his manager or makeup staff, and life was carefree. However, this challenge was his alone to tackle. As he stroked his chin, deep in thought, Justin knew he needed to harness all his wits to devise the perfect plan for revenge.
He withdrew to the boy's trailer to concoct a strategy. With a pen and notebook in hand, he started jotting down ideas, only to tear them up, crumple them, and throw them away, frustrated by his lack of creativity and the feasibility of executing the plans solo. As he discarded one sheet after another, a growing collection of crumpled paper accumulated in the trash bin behind him. Fifteen minutes had passed, and still, Justin found himself devoid of any practical ideas for his efforts, he was unable to do it. Lacking the imagination and strategic planning he believed necessary for enacting grand revenge, he glanced at the wall clock, noting the ample time remaining before the award ceremony. With his team having lost the challenge, someone would be voted off the show.
He was determined it wouldn't be him, intent on exacting his revenge before midnight. Reclining in his chair, Justin gazed at the ceiling, struggling to devise a plan solo. His scheme had to remain secret; he couldn't risk others getting involved or meddling. Suddenly, it became clear to him. The show, Total Drama Action, was filmed on a movie set—a place brimming with the necessary props to execute a fantastic scene. Reverting to his initial stance, Justin experienced a revelation. If he couldn't generate an original idea, he would scour the movie set to discover the ideal prop to employ in his plan against Gwen and Trent.
With no time to waste, Justin left the trailer and set off for one of the movie studios to begin his search. Somewhere within one of these studios laid the answer to all his problems. He didn't know exactly what he was looking for, but he would know the minute he laid eyes on it. Walking inside, Justin looked all around him. He could see cardboard cut outs of buildings, fake plants, some film equipment, and furniture. So far, nothing looked good enough to use for his revenge scheme. He'd have to go further inside to find something useful, but he'd have to hurry. If he didn't use this time wisely the award ceremony would begin. Justin decided to pick up the pace. Accelerating his pace within the building, he scoured every nook and cranny to no avail; nothing useful caught his eye, nothing that declared itself the solution he sought. His search seemed futile. Just as he was about to give up and turn back, something caught his attention, halting him in his tracks.
On an old wooden table, a large book laid on top. An old dusty large book with a brown cover that had writing on it. Justin approached the table to have a closer look at the book. He didn't know why, but there was something about the book that drew him in like a moth to a light. It was as if the book was calling out to him. Almost as if it were alive. Whispering words only Justin could hear through the darkness. Words that were hypnotic. Pulling him closer to the old book until he was standing right in front of it. The whispering had stopped, but Justin still heard a small voice telling him to pick up the book. He didn't know if it was his own or the whispering. Not that it mattered, the book was right before him, so what does he do? He grabs the book then leaves the studio. Uttering not a single word as he walks back to the boy's trailer. His body moved on its own as his mind was occupied by various thoughts.
Upon reaching the trailer, Justin prepared to delve into the book. Spreading it open on his bed; he perused the pages until he located what he sought. How did he know where to search? It was as if an invisible force was directing him, whispering instructions to Justin. Not to give away a lot of information, but there was more to Justin then he was letting on. There's a saying about having skeletons in one's closet. In Justin's case, he had one major skeleton sitting deep in his closet. Waiting for the moment when it would scurry out and break free should Justin utter a word. Not that he ever would. This secret he was keeping buried would be his downfall should anyone uncover it. Scanning through the book, he came across the page he was seeking. A sly smirk formed on his face. Before this day was over, Gwen would learn the hard way what it felt to have karma bite her in the ass.
~Later that Day~
Justin had diligently prepared the spell for the summoning. Now, all that remained was to entice Gwen and recite the spell. Luckily, he had the perfect plan to lure her in, trap her, and send her packing down in the pits of despair. The plan was simple, and it happened as such. Justin came to the mess hall during chow time before the Gilded Chris awards kicked off. He entered the tent through the open doors and noticed Gwen seated alone at a table to his right, while the others were busy getting their food or seated at another table. A smirk appeared on Justin's face as he walked towards Gwen. He tapped her shoulder to get her attention and asked her a simple question. Would she be kind enough to come with him. There was something he wanted to show her before going with his team to the award ceremony. Gwen asked him what he wished to show her to which Justin replied that it was something special he put together as a surprise for Chris. It sounded azured. Why would Gwen go see some surprise being put together for Chris? Justin replied that he wanted an artist's opinion because he knew Gwen drew in her sketchbook every so often. He thought she could give him some pointers on making his masterpiece more alluring to Chris. When put that way, Gwen decided what the Hell, agreeing to follow Justin.
The initial phase of his plan had been executed. Gwen was trailing him to the designated spot on the property where he intended to implement the second step. To be precise, it wasn't entirely unmarked; he had chosen the Wild West section, specifically the cow pen, to assemble the spell according to the instructions in the book. Should Gwen try to take off, Justin had that covered. He guided Gwen down to the lot, leading her inside to the center of the pen. Gwen didn't understand why Justin lead her to the Western film spot when they had been there earlier that day. The absence of anything resembling a surprise in the area only heightened her suspicion. Why had Justin brought her here? Clearly, something was amiss, but the nature of it eluded her. She pondered over Justin's motives for bringing her to this place when there was no surprise in sight.
"Justin, what's going on? You brought me to the lot we were just on this morning claiming to have a surprise for Chris you wanted my artistic opinion on, but there's nothing here." Gwen stated.
Justin smiled as he picked up the book he had placed on a box beside him. He glanced over at Gwen, noting she was precisely where he needed her to be. He then opened the book to the marked chapter that contained the spell. As Justin remained silent, Gwen's suspicion intensified. Unbeknownst to her, danger lurked nearby. Directly beneath her feet was a sizable pentagram, marked out in red. She would remain oblivious to the peril until the final moments.
"Sorry Gwen, I'm a little preoccupied with this book. It's part of my surprise I'm working on, and I need your help with the final preparations." Spoke Justin.
"What kind of preparations?" Gwen asked.
"If I told you, it wouldn't be called a surprise." Justin replied. "Just bear with me for a while Gwen. I promise everything will be explained momentarily."
He couldn't let Gwen leave before he began the incantation. If she made an attempt to leave, he would enact the trap to keep her at bay until he sent her to her doom. He lifted the book up to get a better angle of the page. You may be asking yourselves how Justin is pulling this off when he's not one to use his brain that often. He's not an idiot like Lindsey; he just doesn't enjoy using his brain to the fullest. He boasts that he is a beautiful specimen who doesn't need to use his brain as much as others. With an elite team to handle the thinking for him, including his modeling team and manager, he feels no need to. So why is he using his brain at full capacity now? The answer is simple, Justin isn't the one in control.
You were referring to the instance when he heard whispers as he approached the book. Those were the whispers of the unseen force that has always been by Justin's side since the very beginning. Long before he came to the Total Drama family, Justin struck a deal with forces not from this world back when he was in middle school. Believe it or not, Justin was a hot mess nerd alert acne four eyed goober. Not the most attractive person to lay eyes on when walking down the hallway. Imagine if you would one of those overweight nerds who have the appearance of a creep that keeps the girls at bay and the guys ready to pick a fight with because it was an easy target. That being said, Justin endured the constant torture of swirlies, wedgies, being a punching bag, taken as a joke, humiliated, a never-ending cycle he endured for years. Justin never fought back or spoke up against his tormentors, but after a particularly humiliating incident in the cafeteria, he reached his breaking point. The anger he had suppressed erupted like a volcanic explosion.
That evening, upon returning home, Justin secluded himself in his room and began researching on his computer for ways to exact revenge on those who had wronged him. Typing away on the keyboard, Justin searched for anything that he saw fit to enact his revenge. He did countless searching, coming up with nothing useful in the process. This made his anger grow with every empty search that came back to him. It seemed the internet was mocking him he thought. Purposely coming back with nothing on the web for him while he sought out revenge. Was everything and everyone against him? Would he spend the rest of his life as an easy target for bullies till he died? No, he wasn't going to let that happen. Not as long as he was alive and breathing. Revenge would be his. One way or another he would have his revenge. Even if he had to sell his soul to the devil himself.
What happened next would be saved for another time. While Justin's past is intriguing to tell, Gwen is the main focus of this chapter. Her life could end any second from Justin's careless actions. Although he was not in control, he was conscious of his actions. Like a puppet tethered to strings, yet fully cognizant of the world around him. Soon, Gwen would cease to interfere with his teammates' hearts and challenges. Yes, revenge was a dish best served cold, or in this case it was best served on a silver platter that shined like his dazzling smile.
Speaking of Gwen, she remained on the spot Justin asked her as he rumbled through the book in his hands. She was unable to grasp Justin's actions, to comprehend what he was truly doing. Suspicious was more like it which was how Justin was acting. Muttering to himself and turning pages, was this the surprise he had in store for Chris? Why ask her for assistance when there was nothing in the area that required her artistic feedback? He could have asked anyone else for assistance and yet he asked for her help. She could be overthinking. Justing probably wanted her help because she had something the others didn't that would be helpful to the young model. While Gwen didn't know Justin that well, she would bare through it to help Justin. Hopefully this wouldn't take long, Justin had to leave for the Gilded Chris awards soon since his team lost the days challenge.
With her arms crossed, foot tapping the ground, Gwen waiting on Justin. At first, Gwen didn't notice that below her feet laid the painted pentagram. Which slowly began to glow a bright red color. It was only when Gwen's eyes were wandering around that she spotted the glowing symbol beneath her feet. At first, Gwen thought this was some kind of trick. A movie prop or special effect that Justin laid out as part of the surprise he was working on.
"Justin, what's with the special effects?" Asked Gwen. "Is this part of the surprise, or something else?" Gwen was still slightly suspicious of Justin's behavior, but didn't say a word about it.
"Patience, Gwen. Your answer will be ready in just a moment." Spoke Justin, mumbling the words to the book a little louder.
Listening, Gwen heard a few of the words Justin spoke. She couldn't make out what he was saying, but if memory served her right, she had heard some of the words spoken from Justin's mouth before. Not from casual conversation, it came from a book. Not that she had a book in her belonging with those words in it. She remembered once from a movie with the main protagonist speaking these strange words to send the beast back to Hell. That was a movie, fictional to be exact. A book akin to the one experienced in real life would be nonsensical. Besides, why would there be a book like that on the studio lot? Chris couldn't have owned such a monstrosity that held supernatural powers. Unsure as she was, Gwen was starting to suspect that this might not be an act.
"Justin, what's going on?"
Justin didn't reply, he was lost in translation. The more he spoke, the more the pentagram glowed. This was a cause for alarm. Slowly, Gwen started backing away; unfortunately, she didn't get very far. Curtesy of the trap Justin laid out her attempt to flee, Gwen found herself inexplicably rooted to the spot, unable to move her feet despite her efforts, as if they were magnetized to the ground. It was highly unlikely, but at that very moment it felt that way. She tried to move but couldn't no matter how hard she tried. Confusion with a hint of fear came to Gwen's face. She couldn't lift her feet up and when she tried to remove her feet from her boots, she found that impossible. What was happening? Her heartbeat increased, pounding against her chest. This wasn't a joke; she was in real danger.
"Justin? Justin?! JUSTIN?!" She cried out, but he ignored her.
His voice intensified, and this time Gwen could discern the words he uttered, even though their meaning eluded her. Not that it mattered—Gwen understood the situation all too well, despite wishing fervently that she did not. She didn't know how much time she had remaining, but Gwen had to do something before it was too late. Unsure if she'd lose her voice as she did with movement to her legs, Gwen began to cry a loud for help. She cried out, hoping for anyone nearby to hear her and come to her aide. This didn't bother Justin because Gwen would soon be gone before anyone could come to her aide. Besides, her screaming amused him. It was music for his soul to feed off of. Gwen continued to cry out. Hoping that someone, anyone would hear her before she met a grizzly fate. Never in her whole life did Gwen think her life would end this way and at the age of sixteen.
The pentagram's glow below her brightened. Nearly blinding her had she not lifted her head higher in the air. Still crying out with every ounce of air in her lungs. Someone had to hear her, they had to. Her time was almost up. Fear crept up her spine as the glow expanded little by little.
Why was Justin acting this way? She barely knew him. Indeed, they had been teammates on the island, but his brief stay hadn't allowed for a deeper connection. Now, as competitors on opposing teams vying for the prize money, she maintained her integrity. She refrained from speaking ill of him or circulating falsehoods; such behavior was below her. Had she done something to upset him without her knowledge? That couldn't be, the only thing she'd done recently was broken up with Trent earlier that day. Unless...
Gwen's screams halted momentarily as a thought struck her. She had spoken to Trent in private, yet there was a chance Justin might have overheard their conversation. Hearing all about what occurred between the pair. If that was true, why go to all the trouble doing this? Blackmailing would have sufficed compared to being sent to Hell.
"Justin! Justin please, you don't have to do this!" Pleaded Gwen. "If you stop now, I'll forgive you and we can talk about this!"
Pleading was not in Gwen's nature, but given her circumstances, what other choice did she have?
"You don't get a say in this Gwen!" Justin began. "People like you don't deserve to get away with the crimes you commit! You think you can just walk over those weaker than you? No, no this is one punishment you won't be getting out of that easily!"
Gwen gazed at Justin, her expression one of bewilderment. She couldn't grasp the full meaning of his words. Was it possible that he had experienced a dreadful event in the past that had profoundly affected him? She tried to plea with him again, but he wouldn't listen. He was seriously going through with this. Once more, Gwen tried to call for help. Pulling at her legs with her eyes closed due to the light's glow. Unbeknownst to Gwen or Justin, someone had heard Gwen's cries. They rushed to her aid, but they weren't fast enough. The pentagram's glow created a blinding light that unleashed over the area. Knocking anyone back if caught in the lights path. It lasted a few seconds then it was gone. As soon as they came out of their daze, those who came to Gwen's aide noticed three important things while getting up on their feet.
1. Justin was laughing manically with the book in hand.
2. The pentagram was nearly destroyed. Burnt up, leaving a permanent mark in the ground.
3. Gwen was nowhere to be seen.
Justin continued to laugh, paying no attention to when his arms were twisted behind his back, and he was surrounded by several of the other contestants.
"What just happened? What the hell did you do?!" The voice came from Duncan who had locked Justin's arms behind his back.
"Okay, I don't know if what we saw was fake or not, but Gwen disappearing out of thin air looks real enough." Spoke Leshawna. "Boy you better start talking or you're going to face a whole lot of Leshawna."
Harold examined the burnt ground that was steaming from the heat. Owen, Beth, DJ, and Lindsey watched him. Waiting in wonder to hear what he had to say. Which would take a while.
"Aren't we making a big deal out of nothing?" Asked Heather. "This was probably a joke setup by Chris who asked Justin and Gwen to take part of."
"Uh-uh, no way. That was too intense to be a setup. How can you explain us being thrust back to the ground and nearly losing our sight?" Questioned Leshawna.
"She's right Heather, I don't think they make any machines that can do that." Spoke Beth.
At this point, Justin's laughter grew softer. He was still laughing, just not as much. Duncan tried to question him again but was ignored. Receiving more laughter in reply. Trent walked up and took a stab at it.
"Justin, what just happened? Where's Gwen?" Even though they had just broken up, Trent was still concerned about Gwen's safety.
Justin laughed, this time growing louder.
"Justin I'm serious, what did you do? Where's Gwen?" Trent asked again.
It took a moment, but Justin ceased his laughter. He looked Trent in the eyes, speaking only these few words in response. "She got what she deserved. You'll never see her again."
At those words, Justin erupted into maniacal laughter once more, leaving everyone around him stunned in shock. Trent stepped back from Justin, struggling to process what he had just heard; it was overwhelming. Overcome, he dropped to his knees, clenching his hands into fists. It couldn't be real; it had to be a nightmare. He thrust his fists into the air, shaking with rage, and cried out. Gwen, the first girl he ever loved and whose relationship he had ruined, was gone.
Hot tears fell from his eyes. His friends tried to comfort him, but it brought little comfort to him. Gwen was gone, lost forever unless Justin confessed his crimes though unlikely. All that was left was the burnt ground and the book Justin held. This was now a crime scene. They had to get Chris to get the police involved. There still had to be a way to find Gwen. There had to still be hope, but it wouldn't stay to them, Gwen was already tumbling down the rabbit hole into her own nightmarish Wonderland. There she would stay until a solution was found to guide her way home.
End of Chapter 1
I'm aware this story might seem absurd, but I figured, why not take a chance? Merging Hazbin Hotel with Total Drama is a significant gamble to engage readers. Yet, that's the essence of risk-taking. It's inherently challenging, and I'm ready to embrace that challenge with this narrative.
