It was late January here in California, where we see a young Naruto Uzumaki just lying on his bedroom looking board at his bedroom ceiling.
This recent 13 year kid was not having a good time since the first quarter of the new school year as a middle schooler was notorious.
Not understanding the reason why, but it seemed a lot of his closest friends changed for the worst over the course of summer, none more so than his longtime friend Sasuke.
It seemed that everyone developed an attitude over the course of summer break, none more so than Sasuke, who after making his middle school debut was the first year heart throb who even got hit on by girls from upper grades.
So apart from seeing his friends acting like assholes to him, and his best friend being an emo piece of shit heart throb finally got to Naruto as he got back at everyone.
How'd he do it you might ask, well while the social norm would be to cyber bully these people on social, Naruto preferred leaving things with a physical mark.
So just before everyone was dismissed on Christmas break, he pulled a prank that left everyone in school splattered in paint, his friends getting glittered and feathered on top of it, while Sasuke got ousted to be a closeted gay brony.
Naturally this resulted in him getting suspended, and him having to be home schooled at home by his mother these last few weeks, who was at the end of her ropes with this problem child of hers.
Which is why she hired someone to privately home school him while she went back to her day job working as privateer courier.
"Naruto, are you up" called Kushina, "Yeah" called back Naruto as he didn't answer the door.
"I'm heading off to work, be sure to answer the door, your new homeschool teacher should be coming soon" said Kushina, "Ok" said Naruto dismissively as he continued lie down in bed and continued to brood.
With his head filled with ideas of justified vengeance, Naruto was scheming of new ways to get back at his classmates who sided with everyone but himself for another 5 minutes before he heard someone ring the doorbell to his apartment.
Pushing himself out of bed, Naruto went to answer the door, still in his orange pajama bottom pants and plain black t-shirt and mentally prepared to deal with some college idiot looking for extra credit.
Upon answering the door, Naruto was surprised to see some emo girl, who was admittingly cute, to be roughly a few years older than him answering the door.
"Hi are you Naruto Uzumaki" asked the girl, "Yeah, that's me, and you are…" asked Naruto as he wasn't sure what this girl was trying to sell him.
"My name is Ruby Rose, though feel free to call me Ruby, I'll be your home tutor starting today" said Ruby.
"Oh, yeah mom mentioned you'd be coming over, come on in" said Naruto as he let the teenage girl in as he admired her wearing a LINKIN PARK t-shirt and those striped detached sleeves and knee high converse he's seen the girls back in school are wearing.
"So, you ready to start you're first day with your new home tutor" asked Ruby, "Yeah I was gonna ask, but how old are you" asked Naruto.
"Oh, I recently turned 15" said Ruby nonchalantly as she made a spot on the kitchen table, "15 doesn't that mean you're only a few years older than me" asked Naruto.
"Yes it does, so what subject do you want to start with today, literature, math, or science" asked Ruby, "Just hold on a second, I mean how can you be a teacher, are you like a super genius or something" asked Naruto.
"It's a long story that involves me emancipating from my parents, and my uncle who has a friend who helped me find a loophole to start a career as a tutor for you, but we can talk about that later" said Ruby.
"Emancipating, what does that mean" asked Naruto, "Basically I've divorced myself from my parents" said Ruby.
"Wait, can you legally do that" asked Naruto, "Under the right circumstances yes, a minor can separate themselves from their parents and live independently to an extent" said Ruby.
"Now let's save any questions for later, and let's get a head start on your school work already" said Ruby as Naruto sighed in defeat.
"Can I at least eat some breakfast before we begin studying" asked Naruto, "Sure thing" said Ruby as she allowed Naruto to heat himself up some pop-tarts and pour himself some OJ before starting his lessons at long last.
Later
Unlike with regular school, Naruto didn't need to spread his day out in long hour and a half studies and deal with social cliques that seems to run everyone's life when being home schooled.
As such Naruto was pretty much done with his studies by 1, leaving him plenty of time to enjoy his day.
"And~ we're done, in record time no less" said Ruby, "Thank god" sighed Naruto as he laid his book down.
"Meaning I also get an hour to myself and chill here with you" said Ruby, "Don't you want to head back home" asked Naruto.
"Not really, I kinda got no one waiting for me back at my place at the moment" admitted Ruby as she left out the part she got paid by the hour.
"So you live by yourself" asked Naruto, "I mean, I currently live with my uncle Qrow till I'm old enough and saved up enough money to either buy a car or something and then it'll be me on the open road" said Ruby.
"All right" said Naruto as he got up and stretched himself for a minute before retreating to his bedroom and changed back into his everyday clothes which include orange cargo pants, and an orange pullover sweater with the corner of the front packet having a large hole in it.
Seeing Ruby back chilling in the living as she was checking her iPod touch, Naruto joined her as he sat on the couch and began to start up his Xbox.
"So Ruby, are you not going to school anymore" asked Naruto, "No, I took my GED over the Fall, a requirement needed to not only emancipate from my parents but also get me to work" said Ruby.
"I see" said Naruto, "Now let me ask you a question, why are you not in school" asked Ruby.
"To meet cute emo girls" said Naruto as he tried to act suave, "Shoot, and here I thought you liked goth girls instead" said Ruby as she playfully dismissed the teenage boys advances.
"But in all seriousness, why" asked Ruby, "Sigh, all my friends kinda turned their backs on me and became assholes, especially my best friend, so I decided to get back at them and everyone at school in a massive prank, which ended in me getting expelled and hated by everyone" said Naruto.
"Damn, that's pretty badass" commented Ruby, "Yeah, but honestly I've been thinking about the whole experience this whole time" said Naruto.
"And" asked Ruby, "The blame might be mine alone, with all the bridges I have burned, and I don't feel like I have to apologize for any of it" said Naruto.
"Why don't you feel like you need to apologize" asked Ruby, "I've known a lot of these people in elementary, and my best friend before preschool, so for them to just ignore me and snub me like the assholes they've become, I felt I was losing something I don't deserve, fake friends" said Naruto.
Hearing his reason for his actions got Ruby to crack a smile as she could definitely relate to what Naruto was saying since she's been in similar situations herself.
"You definitely have wisdom beyond your years" said Ruby, "What does that mean" asked Naruto as he was confused by the comment.
"It means you got something to lack for your maturity, I mean seriously pranking the whole school and your friends, what did you do, drop a stink bomb in the auditorium" asked Ruby.
"A giant paint bomb, while making it look like my ex best friend was a gay brony" said Naruto as Ruby choked on a laugh over hearing how crazy this boy is.
"Oh my god, that's rich" laughed Ruby, "Glad you found it funny, my mom sure didn't" said Naruto as he snicked over his past achievement.
During the next hour, Naruto and Ruby would chat and swap stories, before it was time to see Ruby go, but you know what, Naruto can't wait till tomorrow and see her all over again.
So it's been a while since I've last written something like this, and I've honestly only made one after so long out of impulse like all the other album fic's I've made in the past, which will probably be one of the many priority fic's I'll be writing for this new year.
