A Dark Messiah's Atonement
AN: I don't own Star Wars or Kuroinu
Warning, this story will contain dark themes such as blood, gore, coarse language, sexual content, mentions of rape, and misogynistic slurs. Reader discretion is advised!
Darth Vader should have died. He should have been redeemed for killing the emperor and saving his son. The Force had different plans for him. Waking up in his prime body and somehow gets involved in a war on gender equality. Looks like his time as the Chosen One wasn't over yet. And why are the women here dressed skimpily?! He honestly couldn't care less.
Note: This is also my first Star Wars story so please bear with me right here. This will take place after the events of Return of the Jedi, shortly after Vader's passing. Please enjoy!
Prologue
A Sith In Jedi's Clothing
The Force had always worked in mysterious ways. Many who wielded this power were given to those who were gifted with an ability. Jedi and Sith and others throughout the galaxy, many of these Force-users would utilize it either for pure motivations with the light or pragmatic wishes by using the dark side of its power.
Darth Vader was in both of these categories. The Sith Lord had now perished after sacrificing his life to save his son. His last memory from his remaining life as a Sith. He will never forget the excruciating pain that his former master inflicted on him before he threw him off the shaft. The painful lighting from his insidious master's hands would be his downfall since the suit was designed on purpose to put him down in case he disobeyed his orders.
He did not care, he had stopped The Emperor from causing him and his son any further pain. Palpatine, the one who had been responsible for so much suffering, was gone for good. Luke was safe from his clutches...but it came with a cost.
His life for that matter but was this worth the chance in the end? Yes, It was.
He did it. He defeated Sidious and broke free from his chains. And also, he had put an end to his inner struggles as well. He fulfilled the prophecy and redeemed himself to the light side of the Force. The fallen Hero With No Fear was free from his pain and could finally rest, hoping his son and daughter would grow up into better people, and not commit the same decisions as he did.
Instead of embracing the calming light into the afterlife, it seems The Force had other plans for him after all.
His work was not finished yet.
Darth Vader opened his eyes once more, not expecting to see the bright sun hitting through his lens. As he held his breath, he shakily proceeded to get up but as his body moved, he already noticed a big change in his movement. His mechanical breathing was still there but the burning pain in his lungs was gone completely. As his body stood, he felt both of his legs coming too, only these weren't the prosthetic limbs minus his right arm, which Sidious installed for him. These were his original limbs. Anakin Skywalker's limbs.
Vader underneath his mask, his eyes widened at the huge surprise. This was a sight he was not expecting to occur to him. Another thing Vader noticed was the armor he was currently wearing, while the same as he wore on the Death Star, was changed a bit due to different prosthetics on his body. As Vader began to take another step, he noticed the strange sensation appearing as this felt weird for him to be walking like this. This was a far cry from the tall, mechanical cyborg that once terrorized the Galaxy when he was a part of Palpatine's empire.
Oh, how much he regrets it. At least he was able to correct that mistake, thanks to his son bringing him to the light once more.
Taking a look at the current environment he was located in was a beautiful green forest, set in a flourishing area. Vader underneath his skull-like mask displayed a small smile, not expecting to see a peaceful sight, filled with serenity.
Vader wandered through the trees of the forest, the fresh air entering his lungs began to give the former Sith Lord a sign of nostalgia.
How long has it been since he could breathe without the constant irritation in his suit?
The former Sith Lord's eyes turned to spot a small lake filled with clear water. Vader walked over to catch a glimpse of himself. He began to stare at the reflection and the skull-like mask covering his whole identity. The helmet on top of his head was covered with a dark, black hood. He doesn't even remember where he got the hood from. He pushed his hood back, revealing the unforgettable helmet on top of his head that came with the mask.
He wondered… His original limbs had returned. Could it be the same with what's underneath the haunted mask that's terrorized the Galaxy for many years to come?
Not wanting to question his decision, Vader slowly brought his hands to his face, removing the mask as he took another look at his reflection as a familiar image was shown in front of his eyes.
It wasn't his scarred face, thanks to the lava burns on Mustafar. It was his face appearing 30 years younger, with the blue coloring of his eyes and the long brown, wild, messy hair that accompanied his current appearance as he stated before. The only scar he bestowed was the one on the right side of his face. He was flabbergasted at this sight as he dropped his mask on the ground.
It… It couldn't be. His hair returned? And the injuries and burns were completely gone. Vader places his right hand on his left cheek, caressing it as the unendurable disfigurements are officially long gone.
Did… Did the Force do this? Why did it do this? Was there a good reason for it?
'What... What has happened to me?'
Vader was confused. Where did the Force even send him? He was stuck in some unknown forest with no urban environment in sight, only the breezing sight of nature and the sun shining down upon him. Was this another planet by any means?
Hearing a noise in the distance, the Force was warning him of an incoming threat. Looming terror was nearby. There was a disturbance close by. At that moment, the once clear, blue eyes of Anakin Skywalker shifted back to the dark, red Sith eyes of Darth Vader once again. Vader picked up his mask from the ground with both hands as he stared at its lifeless, black sockets, reminding him of the terrorizing figure across the Galaxy.
It gave him an idea, however. Vader would continue that philosophy as he would use the same image, to strike fear but no longer at innocents but instead into his enemies who would threaten the peace. Vader puts the mask back over his head as the mechanical breathing returns, places his dark hood over the helmet, and walks to where the threat is coming from.
Whatever plans the Force had for him weren't done yet. Calling to the Force, Vader clenched his fist tightly, summoning the power as it began to fill his mind, swirling around him like a fire roaring, a rage wrapped inside of him. Vader concentrated on locating the source of this trouble. His emotions started to darken further since it was giving him a dark impulse, letting it invade his thoughts.
This world… while looks to be peaceful, is far more sinister than Vader could make it out to be. Fear. That was the first thing Vader noticed as the Force was nudging him to investigate further what dark secrets this place had to offer. Vader may have won his previous war but second nature was calling to him.
'Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Qui-Gon, Padme… I'm sorry for all of the acts I committed when I was under Sidious' reign. I hope… each of you can forgive me for what I've done. I promise you... on this day... that I will find a way to atone for my sins... even if I will not be forgiven of it... But I do not expect to be forgiven... Nevertheless, I must atone... I must...'
With that said, the tall, intimidating user of the dark side continued to walk where the disturbance was coming from. Vader's right hand began to wander down his belt, grasping the one weapon his former master Kenobi taught him around his Jedi years. He had a feeling he would need it on this journey. It was time to show this world what he was made of. Darth Vader had arrived and was going to let this realm know that his full potential would roar across this land.
Karma's here to collect its debt.
In the woodlands of Ken, a war broke out a month ago. This once beautiful land was thrown into treachery due to the selfish motives of monsters and was no longer a paradise to live in. Men, women, and children were dragged into this as death and destruction led everywhere.
Four big creatures, appearing like a couple of ogres wearing some kind of black armor with green cloth. These creatures were called orcs. Dozens of these creatures stormed villages, killing anyone who got in the way of their goal. A lot of the villages were ransacked by these armored orcs who dared oppose them and would show what would happen if they dared cross them. They were the ones in charge here. After one month since the war started, they have become acquainted with an unlikely aid. Those unlikely aids are The Black Dogs.
The Black Dogs have allied with the orcs and other dark forces across the land of Eostia. This monstrous army was sent everywhere throughout the lands, burning villages, killing men, and violating innocent women. Cackling evilly, two of the orcs turned their attention to a destroyed carriage. Two people, one brown-haired man, and one black-haired woman were lying on the ground, praying for some sort of miracle to come. The man on the ground got up and grabbed his partner, preparing for an escape. One of the orcs took notice of this sight as the orc swung his fist, into the man's chest, nearly killing him.
"Ahh!" The man screamed in pain due to taking a punch from the large brute. Blood began to come out from his mouth.
"Neil!" The woman screamed, running towards her partner.
Before she could take one more step, she felt a nudge grabbing her. The orc grabbed her right arm as the brute began pulling the woman towards.
"No! Let… me… go! Let go of me!" The woman screamed.
The orc begins to smile dumbly, laughing thinking this woman can take the both of them on. This was pure amusement to the orc. The orc pins her to the ground, his intent clear. The man from the ground begins to slowly get up, hoping he can intervene before it's too late. Right as he got up, he felt a large foot pushing him back onto the ground. The other orc slammed his left foot on top of him, preventing him from interfering. The man screamed again, trying to find the strength to break free from the orc's grasp. His partner began to cry, seeing her lover pinned by these disgusting brutes.
The orc began to feel her up roughly, smile growing wider in anticipation. She continued to scream, tears running down her eyes, as did her partner, hoping someone, or even something, could intervene and save her from her fate. Before the orc could consummate his lust, a sudden tug pulled him back. A magical sensation wrapped around the orc's neck, feeling the air being sucked out from his pipe.
A loud crack was heard, causing the other orc to turn its direction to where the sound came from. The orc questioned dumbly where its comrade went, only for its question to be answered in the sound of a chilling echo that could be described as breathing.
"Khooh Phuur."
Taking hold of the situation, the former Sith Lord underneath his hood and mask held the now-dead creature in the air, dropping its ugly corpse on the ground. Three of these anomalies took notice of the newcomer at the scene, confused at what just transpired. The man dressed in black had just killed one of their comrades, using some kind of magic by levitating him and killing him without leaving a touch.
The satisfaction of killing that repulsive creature gave Vader enjoyment, which made him instinctively realize that his Sith tendencies weren't completely gone. Nevertheless, it was the first time he felt a sense of righteousness for using the dark side of the Force's nature. He knew he wasn't proud of those actions during his time as a Sith Lord. He had committed heinous actions across the Galaxy and knew it was a mistake he deeply regretted. But what these aberrations were doing was much worse than what he and the Imperials had done in the past. These creatures were forcing themselves on a woman just for disgusting pleasure and Vader knew that there was no redemption for these animals.
Even more so... these creatures, knowing who they are, are too dangerous to be kept alive. And he felt that the spirit of Mace Windu, if he were alive today, would take exception to this and strike them down so that no one else would be harmed by them.
The brutes growled aggressively at the sight of Vader, realizing he was the one responsible for killing their comrade. The armored Force user underneath his mask displayed a small smirk, knowing he had just made himself a target for these imbeciles.
'Good... Focus on me, and not on the ones you preyed upon...'
At the height of his power, Vader could just stretch his hand out once more, choking all these savages and putting them out of commission with just a simple command from his hand.
But where was the fun in that?
With a cold stare underneath his mask, he reached down the belt as a glow of red ignited through a crimson blade coming to life. The former apprentice of Kenobi and Sidious was going to enjoy slaughtering these animals once more. The rest of the creatures screamed, raising their weapons as each of them ran toward the former Sith Lord.
That was a mistake.
Swinging the blade in an adrenaline rush, Vader decapitated the second creature's arm clean off, leaving a burnt stump. The brute screamed in pain, holding his stump as its arm was now on the cold ground. The red blade came swinging again and in a split second, the head of the dead creature fell to the ground with its eyes open in shock.
Two left.
The third brute attempted by bringing its axe down to attack Vader from behind, only for the former Jedi to bring out his crimson saber to sever both of its arms. The brute screamed with agonizing pain as it lost both of its limbs. As the axe fell, Vader quickly used the Force to levitate the weapon before it could get a chance to drop to the ground. With a causal Force push, the axe was sent straight at the monster's forehead, cutting half its skull open as the rest of its brain matter fell from its head.
One left.
This fuels Vader to keep slaying more of these creatures. Reuniting with the feeling of his body from the Clone Wars as he recalls using the Force in fast movements across the battlefields. His duel with Count Dooku was one greatly improved from their first encounter, losing an arm in the process but would return the favor to Dooku by severing both of his limbs. The satisfaction was beginning to remind him of when he first tapped into his dark attributes. These dull creatures reminded him of the Tusken Raiders. The monsters that killed his mother, overworking her with no hydration or fuel.
His rage grew, remembering that terrible memory as it was the very first time he used the dark side of the force.
These animals would be suffering. The fact that this wasn't the first time they have committed this act, enraged Vader further as he began to dance elegantly swinging his blade like a fire engulfing its victim. Only these brutes weren't victims and deserved the karmic justice they had going for them.
The last creature lunged forward with one final attempt to end the dark Force user, only to be stopped mid-air. The brute in armor dropped its weapon as it began to clutch its neck, feeling the urge as an invisible sensation was choking him to death. With one final clench from his right hand, Vader crushed the windpipe of the ogre-like creature. A sickening sound was heard out loud, as every bone in the creature's body shattered inside. Blood started to come out from its eye sockets with its right one popping out, resulting in a brutal blow to the perverted fiend. He would not show any mercy to these vile dregs.
'These creatures are quite... revolting. A pitiful end may as well be due for you all...' Vader thought, dropping the final creature as its corpse fell lifelessly on the ground.
After finishing off the last of these animals, Vader turned to face the couple who reunited with each other while Vader was having a little squabble with these hoodlums. They had a look of relief and fear at the same time. The couple appeared as if they were in a hopeless situation again. As if they were facing death once again.
Vader knew they had questions for him, possibly asking what kind of motives he had here. Walking slowly towards the couple, Vader decided to ease the tension by asking a concerning question.
"...Are you both well?" Vader asked as the voice that he spoke sounded like his robotic tone during his time when he was a part of the Imperial team.
Flinching at the sound of his voice, the couple was surprised at the concern in his menacing voice. What surprised them further was his right hand to reassure them he was not a threat to them.
"Ye-Yeah, we… are." The man spoke, wiping the blood from his lips as his partner began to lift him to regain his steps. "Who… who are you?" The man asked with great curiosity.
"Khooh Phuur."
A name. What should this man call him? Should he tell him his true identity as Anakin Skywalker? Or should he continue to go by the name of Darth Vader? As much as a part of him wanted to discard the name that had brought death to countless innocents for the past twenty to thirty years of serving the Empire, he knew that he could not make his identity known. He was still in uncharted territory and he may never know when enemies may strike when they least expect it.
With a heavy heart, resolved and unwavering, still recalling the words that he spoke with Luke, he will continue to call himself...
"Vader... You may call me, Lord Vader...' The tall man responded with a voice that carried a hint of solemnity that hid many regrets.
"Vader…?" Neil muttered, sporting a thoughtful look. "That's a strange name. But I don't judge, I suppose. You did save my bacon after all. My wife and I are grateful for what you have just done." The man meant sincerely, reaching out to grab the former Sith Lord's hand. Vader looked at the hand in confusion for a second. Feeling out of his element, Vader ignores the man's hand motion, causing Neil to put his hand down.
"Oh! Where are my manners? My name is Neil. This is my wife, Lily." The man answered happily as his wife gave a small wave out of hesitation and nodded toward the dark-masked figure.
Vader announced calmly. "What has happened here, if you do not mind my questions?"
Neil prepares to answer his questions. "We were on our way back from Thorn when all of a sudden, these… brutes came out of nowhere and destroyed our carriage. We didn't think anyone would come to our aid. Sorry… to ask of you, mister… but what kind of sorcery was that?!" The man shouted curiosity and a little excitement was evident in his voice.
Thorn. Vader wasn't familiar with the name of the location. His eyes narrowed. He continues to ask further.
"What is this place?" Vader asked.
Neil was taken aback by that sudden question. "P-P-Pardon me?" The man questioned.
"I am only asking a question. What is the name of this current location?" Vader asked simply.
"Y-Yo-You're in… the forest of Esride," The man spoke, confused.
"No, that is not what I meant. I am asking about the name that this planet is called," Vader asks further.
Neil paused after hearing that. "Planet? I'm… sorry… sir but I'm afraid I have no idea what you're talking about. You're currently in the kingdom of Eostia if that's what you're asking."
Eostia? Kingdom? Vader wasn't sure of these names. During his time as a Jedi and Sith, as he passed through the memories, he had never even heard of these areas before. This made him a bit concerned.
"Kingdom? Where… is this place exactly?" Vader questioned.
"You're… near the village where Ken is almost located. Have you not heard of these kingdoms before?"
Now...how to answer this? It was clear to Vader that the man was of a primitive culture if he had not even heard of the term 'planet', meaning that interstellar travel had yet to be invented here. If he ever believed in luck, Vader may as well curse it now because he may as well be stuck on this backwater planet without even a ship to leave when needed. Still, he must answer with subtlety. He does not want to draw further attention to himself. A simple answer would suffice.
"No... It would seem... That I have been sent far away... To a place I do not recognize..." Vader answered vaguely.
Neil paused before he took a look at his wife, suspecting that he was a possible foreigner around here. And even without using the Force, Vader can tell just by the expressions on their faces. Thinking about the current dilemma, it would explain why the creatures he fought not too long ago differed from those he tackled both in the Clone Wars and during the Empire's reign.
How did he get here? What were the circumstances behind this? Was this another destination? Another world? Somewhere in the galaxy? Or...is it similar to that time in Mortis? If it's the latter, then he is most concerned, because now that would lead him to question why he was here. And does this relate to how he is healed of his scars from Mustafar? Too many questions. And Vader needed concrete answers, not riddles.
"If you do not mind, I have one final question," Vader said.
"Sure, how can I help with that?" Neil said, noticing the change in the man's tone.
"Has this world or… kingdom as you described... discovered space travel?" Vader could not help but ask, even when he already knew that the hope of that was slim. Nevertheless, it did not hurt to try asking.
Neil's face was confused due to the further evidence all over his face. "No… again, I'm sorry, sir but I don't know what you mean by that? Are… are you okay, perhaps? We can take you to a local village in case you want a clue as to what you're looking for?"
Vader twitched. That confirms his situation. He stood quiet, sporting a thoughtful look. With a sigh, he spoke.
"I see."
Vader turned, leaving the couple in shock as he began to walk away from the area.
"Wait!" Neil shouted, stopping the former Sith apprentice. "You still haven't told us what kind of magic was that?! How did you do that? Or what kind of weapon was that?!"
In that realization, Vader knew this was only going to leave attention for him.
"Khooh Phuur."
"That magic that you speak of... It is... a gift, one that I had been born with for as long as I can remember, one of many, of past and of future, who was born to wield this gift. Thank you both for your cooperation, but I am afraid that I cannot stay here for very long. I must go now," Vader nodded slightly out of courtesy before leaving the couple in peace.
"But… Do you have any idea where you're going? My wife and I can help you to the closest village!" Neil shouted as the former Sith Lord began to stop in his tracks.
...He did have a point. He was a stranger around these parts. Right now, he needed information and a guide. He needed to find civilization nearby to understand what was the history behind this land. There were possible resources that Vader had no information on, and he needed to find that out.
What was the currency here? Were there military organizations here? Were there different ranks here? Did they have the types of resources for their equipment or was there any form of democracy here?
There was no chance of risking it here. A practical line of thought sprung into his mind. If these two are willing to support him, he supposed that he could take advantage of this.
"Khooh Phuur."
"Very well. You may lead the way."
"R-Rea… Really?"
"Yes, due to some circumstances, I may need your cooperation in further uncovering my location. At best, a place to seek silence and solace for the night."
"Great. My wife and I can show you the nearest place. But be careful, watch out for The Black Dogs." Neil warned.
Black Dogs? That name made Vader raise an eyebrow.
"What do you mean?" Vader raised a brow with skepticism.
Neil and his wife stare at the former Sith with shocked expressions.
"You… You never heard of The Black Dogs. Those… Those bastards are the reason why we're in this war in the first place!" Neil raised his voice as the anger began to overtake him. Vader's interest was piqued due to the man's reaction and tone of voice changing abruptly. He can feel the hate and the anger, one that is buried deep within.
"Neil. Calm down." Lily gently places her right hand on her husband's to prevent him from being consumed by his anger. "Forgive him. But we've been through a lot in the past few days." Lily apologized for her husband's behavior.
Neil shook his head and started to take a deep breath, not wanting to worry his wife further.
"You're right… I'm sorry for raising my voice. It's just… it brings back painful memories." Neil excused his behavior. He should have not yelled in front of his wife, especially towards the man who saved her from being violated by those hideous beasts.
Vader was quiet after his little outburst. Now he wonders... Who were these Black Dogs, the ones that he had just heard recently coming from this man?
At that time, Neil piped up, answering Vader's question at the right time.
"The Black Dogs… We thought they were supposed to be our heroes. The ones who would end the war and bring this country peace. But next thing we know, that's what led to this mayhem in the first place. We were fools to believe that a couple of mercenaries could fix the job." Neil expressed in disgust.
War. That wasn't anything new to Vader. This does confirm his suspicions. No wonder the Force was sending him a malicious view when he came in contact with its presence. But this still didn't answer his question. Who exactly were The Black Dogs? What war was this man even talking about? Certainly not with The Empire. Palpatine is dead. The Empire is gone for good.
From how Neil described this band of soldiers, they were supposedly the heroes of this nation but ended up becoming the bane of this kingdom. Was this some sort of a twisted parallel towards him? Too primitive, but nevertheless apt.
Vader needed to choose his next words carefully to get his questions answered without arousing suspicion. He was already out of place in his unusual appearance.
"What kind of war are you perhaps referring to?" Vader inquired.
Neil let out a sigh as a melancholy smile appeared on his face. "The war… against Kuroinu. The war against the mercenary company. It has been going on for almost a month or two. Many people have lost their lives in the war." Neil expressed bitterness all over him.
Lily came by his side as she held his hand tightly, doing her best to comfort him.
Despite the neutral mask with empty, soulless emotion, Vader felt sympathy for the man as he was dragged into a battle with no chance at survival. This hit close to Vader's emotions, recalling the conflict between the rebellion and the Empire.
"What had caused this war to even occur in the first place?" Vader raised a question to the brown-haired man.
"You… don't know what's going on here, do you?" Neil asked.
"Would I ask if I knew of my circumstances?" Vader bluntly said.
Neil chuckled a bit after hearing that. "Can't blame you. You kinda do look out of place and I've seen a lot of weird shit out there." Neil pointed out, straightening his body as his face twisted into a serious expression towards the dark-masked man.
"This war only started in the first place because our so-called Goddess couldn't have done this herself. She had to send her dogs in the first place to end the war. She and the princesses are at fault for this mess happening in the first place!" Neil yelled, slamming his hand on the ground.
"Neil," Lily worried.
Goddess. Was there a higher hierarchy with potency? And Princesses... So there was royalty involved. Why didn't that surprise Vader?
Neil took another deep breath again, not wanting to give in to his anger. "Sorry. Let me start over again. Before The Black Dogs came into play, there... was a war between the Goddess and the Dark Elves in the land of Eostia. The Dark Queen of the Elves despises hatred towards the Goddess and the Seven Shield Alliance. They... are known as the Seven Shield Princesses, led by her. Some heroes they were." Neil spoke with disgust in his voice.
Even behind his stoic mask, Vader knew what the man was going through. Were they corrupt just like the Jedi Council?
Neil continued with his explanation. "Instead of handling the problem themselves, they send their lackeys to handle the job. Well, they did. They've accomplished that but at what cost? They took over the Black Fortress and captured the Queen. We thought it was all over from there but it's too bad that they have different plans."
"How so?" Vader asked.
"After they captured the Dark Queen, supposedly, I heard that the leader of The Black Dogs declared war upon the land of Eostia. That… wasn't it… He not only would… take over the Country but he and his men would start to enslave the entire Country and subjugate women as their slaves."
Slaves. That word hit Vader like the laser on The Death Star. Vader recognized that term as it was a personal subject to him. His eyes narrowed, the urge to clench his first was strong but did not do so, control was his ally, and the dark side submitted, focusing all of his training, all of the scars, all of the pain, all of the regret. He was Darth Vader. It is the dark side who should submit to him, not the other way around.
The only visible thing was the breath that ran deeply through his apparatus. Memories of his homeworld come back to haunt him from a certain point of view. In one sense though, this world may be suffering a different but no less worse kind of fate. Corruption is a disease that never seems to outright die, just slithers back and takes a different form. A way of things. One that Vader is more than aware of.
"But…" Neil continued, grabbing Vader's attention. "These aren't… the ordinary slaves you're thinking of. These… slaves are made for a man's pleasure. Word has it, they started with the Dark Queen and are moving next to each of the kingdoms to enslave the rest of the Princesses. Th-They declared a kingdom, nothing filled but rape. They even went as far as to align themselves with those… disgusting bastards you slayed over there." Neil pointed his finger at the dead bodies of the orcs. Vader's gaze turned over the trash corpses before turning back to Neil.
All he ever felt behind his cold exterior was empathy and sorrow. Just by listening, he can tell that management was incompetent. If this were before Endor, Vader would not have tolerated this lack of propensity.
If they are supposed to be the established guardians of this land, why did they not contribute? Why did their chosen warriors choose to betray the land? What the hell was even going on here?
Burning down villages, killing innocent people who were not at fault, and violating women due to some insane megalomaniac's urges. And claiming they were the victims because they weren't gaining respect for the opposite sex, well, that was just the height of ludicrousness. But not as ridiculous as forming an empire for... not so noble purposes.
While Vader despised Sidious with all his fiber, he could nevertheless understand the motivations behind the reason for Order 66, even if it was a rather twisted perspective.
But that was an unfortunate mistake that was now his eternal regret, one that he never wished to be, but could never be undone, and now has to move forward with that guilt in mind, forever haunting him.
"Since then, we have been at war with them and so far, it has been nothing but a plague, affecting men, women, and children who used to call this place home. Everything has gone to shit since that day." Neil grimaced with his partner, Lily, on his side, continuing to comfort her husband.
Vader did not respond. Thoughts come to his mind.
Was this why the Force had sent him here? To save this unknown land from a terrible unforeseeable fate? Was he the one who could change the world he was in? Did he deserve to be redeemed? Was he the right person for this type of job?
No, for once in his life, Vader didn't think the Force made a correct choice here. Not after carrying out the duties of his former master, Sidious, from terrorizing the Galaxy in fear.
Redemption wasn't a choice for him anymore.
... Was it?
Was it even possible for him? His vengeance is what led him to become the former monster he was. The internal rage he constantly carried with him is what resulted in him falling into the dark side of his views.
Before closing his eyes in a second, he sees all the hardships and the darkest of times he went through. His mind was beginning to be surrounded by darkness. Walking further into an empty void, filled with no chance at the light. Shrouded with the cold feeling a warm gleam appeared further in his thoughts. He then remembered the words of his loved ones.
"There… is good in him. I know there is… still."
"There is good in him."
"Your thoughts betray you, Father. I feel the good in you, the conflict."
"I am a Jedi, like my father before me."
A mental slap caught Vader as his eyes opened and broadened underneath his mask. No, he will not allow the Dark Side to take control of him again. Instead, he chooses to tame its power and will learn how to balance the light and the dark inside of him. Right now, he promised himself that he would not fail and would become a beacon to show his determination to survive in this new world.
"I see," Vader announced, before lending a hand to Neil. "Then, if we are to continue, once again, I may need a guide to the nearest settlement."
"Y-Y…Yes. I know the closest one." Neil meant, attempting to get up as he accepted Vader's hand again. Neil begins to struggle, due to the blow the orc delivered to him not long ago.
"Here. Allow me." Vader said, placing his hand on the man's chest.
A light appeared on Neil's chest as the pain was slowly moving away, once the light disappeared, so did Neil's injury.
"There. That should leave you in better condition."
"Wha… What? How did you do that?!" Neil questioned.
Vader's expression was unforeseeable, and his face gave no reaction. He only responded. "As I stated before, it is a gift that I have. Only the ones who were born to wield this power are from where I come from." Vader explained, turning around as he began to move to the next environment. "Now, we must move along. I wished to arrive there before sunrise."
Neil and his wife took a look at each other before turning to the man wearing dark. "Right. I still have currency. You know, to rent a hotel for the night? Somewhere where we can find a place to sleep at night." Neil spoke up, as he and his wife walked up close to Vader's right side.
"Very well, lead the way. Though I hope that you know the correct routes and directions to take from here."
"Yes! Lily and I would visit this place a lot before the war started. So I guarantee you it will be an easy walk from here." Neil guaranteed.
"Very good. Show me."
As Vader begins to walk next to the couple, the dark-haired woman walks up to the former Sith Lord. Unexpectedly, the woman wrapped her arms around Vader, catching him completely off guard.
"Thank you. Thank you for saving me from those beasts." Lily showed her gratitude, making the former Jedi slightly unnerved by her appreciation.
Hugging. This wasn't something Vader was not used to. This was foreign gratitude to him. Hugging was something Vader did not do daily. Not when you had a former goal of conquering the Galaxy. The only time Vader received this type of treatment was when his former master, Sidious would bombard him with Force lighting in case he disobeyed orders. That was the comfort he would get as a "pat on the back."
Not entirely sure how to return the gesture, Vader thought it would be appropriate to place his right arm, patting the woman on her shoulder. Vader did not do hugs. The only time Vader engaged in affectionate acts was when his former wife was alive during his time as a Jedi. This was beginning to bring back a bad memory, let alone of a woman he saved not too long ago. Instantly, Vader took Lily by the shoulders and removed her from his personal space. That was enough gratitude for one day.
"You do not need to thank me. I simply acted when it was necessary. Nothing more."
The woman shook her head in disagreement. "Still, you saved me and my husband. Both of us are grateful for what you did. And we promised you, we will not fail at aiding you."
Neil and his wife sped up and continued to escort Vader to the nearest village. After what this man had done for them, it was time to return the favor. While in his thoughts, Vader reminisces from his time as a child slave to a Padawan, a young Jedi Knight, a war hero, a galactic Emperor, to a man with a scarred past. Vader wasn't sure if he would call himself a champion but why else would the Force choose him and leave him stranded here in a world that was unknown to him at the moment?
For now, that didn't matter. The Force chose him because it knew his time as The Chosen One wasn't over yet.
Jedi or Sith, it didn't matter to him.
With that being said, everything would go his way, and would not choose to repeat his previous mistakes once again. Two people were alive and well. Untraumatized and living in a healthy state because he chose to intervene. He wouldn't let fear or misery get to him anymore. No matter how painful it was. Yes, while the Dark Side was tempting to use, he would stay on the path that would benefit him and others around the area. Vader would finally be free and would continue to fight so people could live the next day, thanks to him, giving a chance to believe in a righteous action.
With that, the land of Eostia was never the same. Darth Vader has arrived to change the outcome of the war in the land.
AN: Hello Everyone! Hope you guys enjoy this obscure crossover I planned with everybody's favorite Sith Lord.
Special thanks to Meraj Alimi (King101) for helping me beta this chapter! Couldn't have done this without their contribution and appreciate the assistance now.
Originally, this was supposed to be a Star Wars/Akame Ga Kill crossover but recently on this site, I heard of the series Kuroinu due to many fics being written about it.
And oh boy! I wasn't expecting to see a series like that get published on this site.
If you're wondering, no, I have never watched the original OVA nor do I plan to watch it since I heard it's a pretty depressing series with a dark ending. Only knowledge was due to reading fics and that's about it.
The only reason I wrote this is because my craving for a good Darth Vader fic to read has been lacking and what better way than to send him to a world where he gets a chance to slaughter misogynistic incels.
Also, Vader in this story is in his prime and I got the idea thanks to VFSNAKE's fic but with some minor changes. Vader still has his kick-ass voice and armor with the iconic mask minus the helmet but does have Anakin's body. Please tell me Vader was written well in character and wasn't too OOC.
With that said, I hope you guys will enjoy this story and offer any ideas since the lore of Kuroinu doesn't offer much knowledge.
Please leave a favorite, follow and review, and tell me what you enjoy so far in the first chapter. Also, don't forget to join my discord server on Emerald Library. The link is in the profile.
Check out the other stories I posted and I will keep you updated with the results.
All that being said, stay safe and stay awesome! I will see you guys next time! Adios!
