Currently, it was a normal day in the prestigious huntsman School known as Beacon Academy. Currently, most of the students were in the cafeteria as it was lunch time, with most of them discussing one thing and one thing only; the Vytal Festival!
The Vytal Festival is a yearly competition where the four most prestigious huntsman academy's across the planet of remnant gather together at Amity Colosseum to battle it out to see which school has trained the next generation of protectors for humanity.
Many of the students at Beacon Academy were discussing strategies since the tournament was in three rounds in the form of teams, doubles, and singles. Many were discussing who was going to be in the doubles round if they moved on and who was going to represent their team in a single rounds.
At a table in the middle of the room was team RWBY and team JNPR! These two unofficial sister teams were currently having discussions on what they were going to do at the festival, well everyone except the leader of team JNPR; Jaune Arc. He was currently playing a video game of all things on an old looking device that no one had ever seen him have before...?
Ruby was the first to pick up on this, so she knew her male best friend well. And she knew him well enough to know that he never had such a device on him... Especially one so old and outdated.
It was a regular kind of device that was rectangular in shape. It was red on the right side and blue on the left side. It had all kinds of joy-cons you would expect of a device of its era. It even had a place where you can charge said device when it runs out of electricity. The only problem is that no one is sitting at the table. Remember seeing such a device before... Was it from an older era or something?
"Jaune, what are you doing?"inquired Ruby, wondering what her male best friend was doing at that moment.
"Playing..."Simply responded Jaune, who continued fiddling with the buttons on the mysterious device.
"I think she means what are you playing with?"clarified Weiss, wondering what the guy who used to hit on her was doing with such a device.
"I'm just playing with my Nintendo switch."Simply replied the natural blonde before he went back to focusing on his game.
"A Nintendo what?"inquired Nora,who doesn't remember hearing of such a company before.
"I've never heard of such a company. Are they new or something?"inquired Ren, but he was ignored by his team leader and male friend.
"I don't think a company like that has ever existed.. At least as far as I know."said Pyrrha, who doesn't remember about hearing some company called Nintendo.
"Me and Ruby are the next biggest video game nerds next to Vomit Boy, and we definitely never heard of a company called Nintendo before. Where did you get that Nintendo switch.' inquired Yang, wondering where her sister's male best friend got such a device.
"In the mail. I think my father or my grandfather sent it to me."said Jaune, who continued playing after responding.
"Did the package have a return address?"inquired Blake, who was actually curious about what other people were doing for once.
"No... But that's not unusual in my household."said Jaune, making his friends look at each other with worried looks as they can't believe he just opened a package with his name on it without thinking much of it.
Especially since it had no return address!
"Jaune, are you sure you should be messing with that thing? You don't know where it came from."said Ruby, worried about her male bestie.
Jaune stopped doing what he was doing at that moment and looked at his friends with a confused look.
"It's just a gaming device. I've been playing with it the last several days to relieve stress, and it's actually quite interesting. It only has two games, but they're quite interesting."replied Jaune before he went back to playing on his Nintendo switch.
"Jaune, you know I don't like to be rude. But the Vytal Festival is right around the corner, and we really need to talk about team strategy."said Pyrrha, trying to talk to her partner and the guy she secretly had a crush on.
"I don't see why we need to worry. We have a power lifter, a guy who's basically a ninja, and a world-class champion. As long as I don't get too much in the way, we should be fine."said Jaune nonchalantly.
"Aww, thank you."said Nora, who considered powerlifter a complement.
Especially since she was someone obsessed with the gym, particularly with something called thunder thighs!
"Jaune, what game are you even playing?"inquired Yang, who was curious as what game was distracting Jaune so much that he hardly paid attention to what his friends were saying.
"Pokemon."replied that dork knight nonchalantly.
"Poke what? I've literally never heard of that word before in my life."said Weiss, who is not more confused than ever.
"If this really awesome game where you can capture these cool looking monster like creatures and train them for battle. Then, you can battle NPCs until they level up. I'm almost done with this game. It was kind of hard, but the game I played before was harder."said Jaune with a smile on his face before going back to playing.
"That sounds a lot like slavery."said Blake, who wasn't sure if she likes this Pokemon game she just heard of right now.
"I thought so too, but apparently, they're completely cool with it. According to the lore, Pokemon regularly jump in front of humans to see if they are worthy of being their trainer. They basically have the same mentality as Nora."said Jaune, making Nora feel appreciated.
"Yeah, they sound like my kind of pets! Is there a cute one who wields a hammer?"inquired Nora, wondering if there was such a Pokemon.
"Um, I don't think so... I'm not really sure since there's only this game on this Nintendo switch. It's called Pokemon Shield, and I'm really getting good at it. All I have to do is pick up my final team, and I can battle the champion."said Jaune with a smile on his face before going back to his game.
"Wow, you seem really invested in this."said Ruby, who understands that she can appreciate a good video game.
"Well, I feel like this game was meant for me. Especially since I chose a starter Pokemon that was based on a rabbit. I don't know if you guys know this, but I'm particularly fond of rabbits."replied Jaune since he was wearing a pumpkin pete hoodie after all.
"Well, what's the little guy called?"inquired Nora, who thought rabbits were cute.
"He was called Scorbunny, but he's currently a Pokemon called Cinderace! I was going to give him a nickname since that's an option, but I'm absolutely terrible at coming up with a nickname, so I decided to just leave it with its Pokemon name."said Jaune, causing his friends to look at each other with confused looks before remembering that he was not good with names.
Especially since he still calls Ruby crater face sometimes.
"So who's your team? How many of these Pokemon creatures can you play with?"asked Ruby, who was curious.
"My team currently consists of Pokemon, I think, are cool or intimidating. I was going to go with cute, but I don't want that to ruin my tough guy image. So I decided to go with Pokemon that are intimidating and have good stats. I think I did a good job so far. Cinderace will definitely help me beat the champion. Oh, and you can only carry a maximum of six, which I think is fair, "said Jaune with a satisfied look on his face before he went back to playing.
"Jaune, I don't think you should be playing with a mysterious device you just got in the mail one day. How do you know it's safe?"inquired Blake, who's seen enough scenarios to know that these en badly... But most of those scenarios are from the books she reads.
"Well, the only thing that was in the box was this Nintendo switch and a charger, so I think it's okay. But you do have a point... I tried looking up the Nintendo company, and I couldn't find any results."said Jaune, making his friends look at him like he was crazy.
Weiss immediately pulled out her scroll and typed in Nintendo on the search engine, only to get no results from the internet search...?!
"Okay, I think you really need to put that thing down before you do something stupid... Or more stupid."said Yang, who tried to grab the Nintendo switch only for the other natural blonde to move out of the way.
"Guys, it's okay! My dad actually knows some guys in the video game industry. I think I'm supposed to be a beta tester for this stuff or something. Who knows, maybe this guy who was behind the Nintendo company that still doesn't exist is just barely getting it off the ground, and it will soon be the next biggest video game company."said Jaune, who didn't want his precious game system taken away from him.
"I don't think someone trying to build a video game company would like you such an older model of console."pointed out Pyrrha, with the others nodding their heads in agreement.
"Okay, maybe you guys are right... But these games are fun. I already finished playing Batman: Arkham Asylum. Now the only thing I need to do is finish this Pokemon game, and I'm golden. So just trust me, I'm sure everything will end just fine once I finish this game. I'm almost done."said Jaune, who decided to leave the table before his friends tried to take the game away from him again.
Once he was gone, Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Pyrrha, Nora, and Ren looked at each other with concerned looks. Although some of them were close to Jaune and some warrants, that didn't mean they didn't care about their friend. Jaune was an okay guy in their books, and they didn't want him to get hurt.
"Should we be worried?"inquired Blake, wondering if they should be worried about the mysterious Nintendo switch that just appeared at Jaune's door one day.
"I'm sure there's a logical and rational explanation for all of this."said Weiss, even though her face didn't portray an Express that said she believed what she just said.
On the contrary, she appeared to be the most curious since this is the first time the dolt appears to be so invested in something. Plus, getting to know about a mysterious company that hasn't become the next big thing yet could be a valuable asset in the future.
"Well, maybe his dad is using him as a beta tester. And maybe the older model is so that the game could probably run better."said Ruby, even though she did not appear to believe what she was saying.
"Do you honestly believe that?"inquired Yang, wondering if a little sister was being serious right now.
"No... Even if it is a company that's just barely starting out, it doesn't make sense for them to use an older model like that switch or whatever he keeps calling it. In this day and age, video game companies always try to make games comparable with the latest model of consoles, so using an older model would be more of a negative publicity stunt than a positive one. I mean don't get me wrong, there are those guys like my dad who use older models stubbornly because they say they're better, but more often than not video game companies focus on a younger demographic. So either Jaune is lying to us, which is unlikely because he's a bad liar. So the more likely option is that someone is manipulating him from behind the scenes."said Ruby, feeling like that was the most likely scenario.
"You know what I think! I think that Nintendo Switch is a console from another world, and once fearless leader finishes playing the second game. Something super unexpected will happen!"said Nora, once again coming up with one of her crazy theories.
"Nora... That is even crazier than when you said that the waffle industry is secretly running the world of Remnant. We know you prefer pancakes over waffles, but there's no way waffles are secretly running the world."said Ren, feeling like his best friend was being crazier than usual.
"I never said waffles run the world. I said the companies who make waffles run the world. Everyone knows that the war between pancakes and waffles is never-ending, so waffles have secretly taken over in order to wipe out the existence of pancakes forever."said Nora, making everyone look at her like she was crazy.
"Is she being serious right now?"inquired Yang to Blake with a whisper.
"I honestly can't tell with her."replied Blake with a whisper so that Nora wouldn't hear her.
"Anyway, I think we should take that game away from him before he does something stupid."said Pyrrha, trying to get everyone back on track.
"But how on Remnant are we going to do that? He literally stopped Yang from taking it away from him. Should we wait until he falls asleep and take it away from him?"inquired Nora, wondering if they should do that.
"We could always force him."suggested Yang, getting a disapproving look from her team.
"Yang, that's not nice."said Ruby, as that would be like taking candy from a baby, which is never a good thing.
"And taking it away from him is asleep is any better?"inquired Yang, getting no response from everyone else.
"Fine... Well, wait until he's asleep. I mean, what's the worst that can happen."said Yang with a nonchalant attitude.
It was in that moment of giant explosion that was heard from where Jaune ran off to.
"Jaune!"shouted Pyrrha and Ruby at the same time, worried about their secret crush / male best friend at the same time.
Both team RWBY and most of team JNPR quickly made their way to the dorm rooms, as that was where the explosion was heard.
They kind of expected fire, but they didn't find anything of the sort. All they found was confused students looking around trying to find a source of the explosion, but the only thing they could find was the noise they heard earlier. There was no debris, no fire, no smoke. Nothing one would expect from an explosion was anywhere to be seen.
The group of seven friends quickly arrived at team JNPR's dorm room, where they determined the explosion to have come from. Pyrrha was the first to go in that she was the most worried, but what she saw next and what the other saw next was the last thing they expected to see.
Jaune was currently lying unconscious on the floor as a large rabbit like creature was poking him with a stick.
The creature is a bipedal, rabbit-like animal. Most of its torso and head, as well as its arms and tail, are white. The creature has long white ears, the insides of which are yellow. Its white eyes, which have red-orange irises, have a deep navy pattern below them and yellow eyebrows above them. These eyebrows connect at the nose, which is red-orange, and form a "crown," which connects to the red-orange tuft of hair sticking out from its forehead, similar to a flame It has two whisker-like tufts of white fur on each side of its face. Over each shoulder is a navy patch of fur, resembling a shoulder brace, which continues down the torso and connects in the middle of the chest, creating what resembles a sports tank top. This navy-colored fur is also seen on its lower torso, creating what resembles a belt. The fur on its lower body is colored red-orange and resembles a pair of pants, with yellow pockets and ending in yellow tufts at the knees, with little tufts of fur on the backside of its thighs. Its ankles and feet are colored navy-blue and tipped red-orange at the toes. On the underside of each foot, there are three yellow dots of fur.
"Cinder...Cinderace!"said the rabbit like creature, who appeared to be worried about Jaune.
"Ha! For once, Nora Valkyrie was right about her theory!"said Nora with a satisfied smile on her face, seemingly blind to the situation at hand.
Meanwhile, there was a note next to Jaune's hand, and it was exactly where a Nintendo switch was supposed to be.
On the note was only one sentence!

Little did the dork knight or any of his friends know that this unexpected gift known as the Nintendo switch would forever change Jaune's world! Now, with the power of one of the universe's greatest heroes and Pokemon, just how much will the fate of Jaune Arc change! Will he be able to handle this new power! Will he be able to tame his new Pokemon now that they are real! Will he be able to handle what is surely to be the next biggest story in the school, possibly the rest of the world. There is truly only one way to find out, and that is to see where the story goes from here. Hopefully, Jaune's Pokemon and his friends will help him on this long and surely difficult journey while trying to get ready for the Vytal Festival!
