The light burned her, but it also sustained her, as from there came the beasts that she'd feed on. Still, she wound webbed up her entrance thickly, to keep the painful light from reaching her and hurting her.

She made her nest far from the entrance, far from any stray light that could seep in and burn her, searing in her chitin.

The mountains shielded her from the worst, but there was the real wonder if the ability to eat weighted up to the ability to get hurt and burned on a regular basis.

The only times she could get outside was when storms passed overhead, thick webs covering the world in all directions. She was a great proponents of storms, hunting in the dark forests of this region, getting new and exciting meals.

Still, she never dared linger long, as the water was a constant reminder that sooner or later the thick webs would be gone, opening her domain to the sky-lights again. At least the fire-threads did not hurt her, so she could ignore those for the most part.

What had to have been quite a few egg-cycles - if she still had those, now that it took food to get them and not just time - when she got a new kind of snack. It honestly wasn't worth it, beyond a new taste, between it being pointy and hardly having any sustenance to it. But at this point, she'd take the 'new taste' as being worth it.

Even worse however, it damaged her webs... and because it'd been pointy, she didn't have the energy to fix them.

So instead she retreated into her deepest den, to heal her wounds and regain the energy to make new threads to stitch up the holes the pointy thing had left. Beyond a few food items, she was alone her, so it wasn't like there was something that'd be a problem if it got further in.

That's what she thought, only to feel gentle tugs on her threads a short while later and then feel her knowledge at the edge of the little cavern increase.

That... was very new...
