Billy Stands Tall
As Billy sat in his garage tinkering with some tech, he heard the Communicator go off.
"Yes, what is it Zordon?"Billy said as he placed the wristwatch-like device to his face.
"Come to the Command Center immediately." Zordon's voice said with a strong sense of urgency.
"I'm on my way."
Billy stood up and upon pressing one of the buttons on the Communicator was teleported directly to the Command Center. As he fully materialized, Billy looked around for his comrades but found himself alone.
"Where are the other Rangers" Billy asked aloud.
"That's the reason why I called you here Billy." Zordon's voice said as his face appeared on the transparent tube.
"What happened Zordon?"
"I asked Alpha to conduct a test on each Communicator and collect data."
"What kind of test?"
"Zordon asked me to tell the others to go to certain locations to verify connectivity with each Communicator and the Command Center. One by one each of them never responded. I feel something terrible has happened to them…aye-yi-yi-yi!" Alpha said as he appeared in a panic.
"Don't worry Alpha, I'll get to the bottom of this. I recently added a new function to my Communicator, a GPS of sorts. By using the frequency of my Communicator, I can triangulate the frequency of the others." Billy said as he began to fiddle with his Communicator.
After a few moments, Billy stood perplexed.
"What is it, Billy?" Zordon asked.
"I can't seem to locate any of their Communicators. I should be able to connect to them as long as they are on Earth."
"That's very troubling. Is there anything you can do?"
"Well, if I send out a strong enough frequency from here I should be able to get a reading of the last reading from one of their Communicators. Alpha, send out as high a frequency as you can."
"You got it, Billy," Alpha said as he began to turn knobs and flick switches of the control console.
After some time, Billy got a reading.
"There! I got a reading from Trini's Communicator. The signal is coming from just outside Angel Grove city limits. I'm sending the data to the Viewing Globe/"
"Alpha, find those coordinates and send Billy there right away."
"Yes, Zordon," Alpha said as he began to feverishly tap the controls.
"Billy, find the others and return here immediately."
Billy nodded as he was teleported to the location. As he reached his destination, Billy scanned his surroundings. He realized he was standing in an empty spot of land consisting mostly of just dirt. Billy slowly scanned for the other Rangers but was unable to find a single clue.
Using the upgrade to his Powersuit which allowed him to connect to the Command Center, Billy reached out to Alpha.
"Alpha can you hear me?"
"Loud and clear, Billy."
"I haven't found anything here yet, but I'm going to keep looking."
"Be careful Billy, I have a bad feeling about this situation," Zordon said.
"I will Zordon," Billy said then going back to searching.
"Ah, the final Ranger twerp has arrived. Ready to join the others?" a voice said with a boisterous laugh.
"Who are you and what have you done with my friends?" Billy shouted.
"What? Do you miss your little friends? I can surely show you where they are…" the voice said as a being appeared.
Billy spun toward the voice and came face-to-face with a tall being with a dark tone complexion. It wore a long dark blue cape decorated with white diamond-like patches that shimmered.
"I know well enough you're not going to just show me where they are. But, I'm not opposed to getting answers after I beat you down. It's Morphin' Time, Triceratops!" Billy shouted as he grabbed his Morpher and held it out in front of him.
The Blue Ranger suit formed over Billy's body and as soon as he felt the power surge in his body, Billy went on the offense.
"Yes…fight me til your heart's content. You'll end up like the rest." the being said as they raised their arm into the air.
A long staff materialized and the being grabbed it, holding it defensively. Billy noticed the staff pulled out his Power Blaster and fired. The blast seemingly made contact but did not faze the being. He quickly changed strategy and as he closed in, switched his Power Blaster to Dagger mode.
Billy slashed at his opponent but was countered by the staff. He quickly flipped the Power Dagger around and hit the middle part of the staff hard enough to break the defense.
Upon flipping the weapon back around, Billy stabbed forward. As the blade touched the being, it was gone in an instant. Perplexed, Billy jumped back.
"Who…what are you?" Billy asked.
"Well, since you asked…I am Wyrmz and with my Shinning Star Staff I will seal away all the Power Rangers and rule the Cosmos!"
"Are you one of Rita's monsters?"
"Rita?…Rita Repulsa? No, that witch isn't fit to perform magic at a birthday party. Once I'm done with you, she's next."
Uncertain of what to make of his opponent, Billy reached out to Alpha.
"Alpha, do you know or have any information on this Wyrmz?" Billy said trying to keep focus on Wyrmz.
"No. Neither myself nor Zordon has ever heard of him and there's no information about him in the database," Alpha said as he poured through datalogs.
"Well, I guess I have no choice but to fight until I find a way to stop him."
Billy stood and watched Wyrmz for a moment.
"What is this a staring contest? Are you going to attack or what?" Wyrmz said.
Billy knew if he didn't engage now, he would have to go on the defensive.
"I guess you give me no other choice," Billy said as he held his hands out in front of him.
The Powerlance materialized into Billy's hands and upon gripping it, a surge of power filled him. Without a second thought, Billy charged at Wyrmz. Seeing the attack coming, Wyrmz raised his Shinning Star Staff over his shoulder.
Billy saw the change in posture and knew Wyrmz was going for a direct counterattack. As he closed in Billy rotated his right hand and let go of his weapon with his left, doing a lighting quick upward swipe.
Wyrmz retaliated by doing with same with his staff but downward. The two weapons met with a loud clang, the resulting resisting force pushed the two of them away from each other.
"That's some real power you got there. If I had known the others were capable of such things, I would have fought them too instead of sucking them up before they even knew what happened." Wyrmz said with a sneer.
Billy knew the opportunity to find out what happened to the others was now.
"Sucking them up?" Billy questioned.
"Yes, and they have been sealed far away."
Billy remembered the times Rita or her monsters used other dimensions to seal parts of his team away before.
"Are you saying they're in another dimension?"
"Not quite, more like another universe."
Billy knew that if the others were in another dimension finding them wouldn't be easy, but doable with the help of Alpha and Zordon. But knowing they were in a separate universe, made things a whole lot dire.
"I can tell that you're trying to formulate a plan other there. I can let you in on something…if you don't attack, you will soon be a universe away."
Realizing the truth, Billy had to attack to be able to not be lost like the others. With a strong grip on the Power Lance, Billy charged back towards Wyrmz. Billy watched Wyrmz as he got closer, observing the "staff over the shoulder" strategy.
As soon as he saw the staff come down, Billy quickly moved to the right, dodging completely. With Wyrmz's side wide open, Billy swiped at him with the Power Lance. As the tip of the Power Lance was about to make contact, Billy felt a tremendous pull.
He jumped back, freeing his weapon. Unsure of what was going on, Billy charged again but dodged left instead, but again he felt the pull and jumped away.
"What on Earth is going on?" Billy asked himself.
Billy pondered about what was happening and concluded that Wyrmz's body must have some sort of magnetism. He knew to defeat Wyrmz, he had to "demagnetize" him. In the distance, Billy could hear the screeching of metal parts and knew that was going to be his answer.
"Sorry, to do this…but you know how it is…" Billy said then turning around and sprinting away.
"And I heard the Power Rangers were courageous. I guess there's nothing wrong with a little chase," Wyrmz said before going after Billy.
As Billy followed the direction of the metal sound, he peered behind him to make sure Wyrm was still following him. After clearing a short incline, Billy found what he was hoping for, a scrapyard.
Billy ran towards a small group of workers.
"Hey, you guys need to clear out of here, there's a monster coming!" Billy shouted.
The men looked at each other for a moment, but they soon realized a Power Ranger was telling them to run and decided to heed the warning. Once the workers had cleared the area, Billy turned back to see Wyrmz clearing the hill. He ran towards the electromagnet's controls and waited.
"This is getting tiresome Power Ranger. Let's go back to fighting, okay?" Wyrmz said.
"How about you hang out a bit?" Billy said as he switched the electromagnet on.
As the power to the magnet turned on, small pieces of scrap metal flew toward the magnet. But after a few moments, Wyrms continued to stay on the ground. Billy was confused and a bit shocked.
"You thought that pull you felt earlier was magnetism I assume? Unfortunately, it is not. It is, however, a means to an end…an end of everything you know and understand!" Wyrmz shouted.
As Wyrmz raised his arms, the cape opened causing Billy to become alarmed. In the place of a physical body, Billy saw a swirling black void.
"You're body…it's a wormhole," Billy said slightly stunned.
"Close, it's more like my body is part of a wormhole. I was hoping to have had you sucked in by now, but it seems I have to do more than baiting you to get close. Shooting Star Slaughter!" Wyrmz yelled.
The diamond shapes on his cape began to glow brightly, but before he could figure out what was happening, the diamonds shot beams of light out toward Billy. He dodged the attack as quickly as he could but managed to get hit by one of them.
The beam of light grazed Billy's upper arm, slicing apart a small area of his Powersuit and giving him a superficial wound.
"Be careful Billy, those are concentrated beams of pure light. They can penetrate almost anything," Billy heard Zordon's voice say.
"Well, looks like I'm going to have to get rid of that cape," Billy said as he looked around for an idea.
He looked up at the electromagnet and thought of something if he maxed out the power of the electromagnet, he could use the Power Lance to absorb the electricity. Without wasting any more time, Billy cranked the controls and generated as much power in the generator as the machine would allow.
He then took the Power Lance and pierced the generator with it. The electricity quickly began to flow into his weapon.
"Billy stop, that's too dangerous. If any of that electricity flows in reverse, your body will absorb it all!" Alpha said in a huge panic.
Billy remained silent, giving no response. He was using all his concentration and power to make sure his plan worked. Feeling the limit of power reaching its penultimate level, Billy pulled the Power Lance free.
As he examined it, the amount of energy it was exuding was tremendous. Electricity flashed and crackled along the entire length of the weapon.
"Are you just going to stand there and twiddle your thumbs or are you going to face me?" Wyrmz said.
"Well, you get what you ask for," Billy said as he arched back.
As soon as he had Wyrmz in his sights, Billy launched the Power Lance as hard as he could.
Though it was moving extremely fast, Wyrmz noticed the Power Lance. He stood confident, even smirking knowing the effort was in vain as he was sure the weapon would be sucked inside.
To his surprise, however, the moment the tip entered the void the electricity flowed outward. The Power Lance eventually disappeared into the void but the electricity remained, damaging Wyrmz.
Billy watched as his opponent writhed in pain, the electricity starting to cause the cape to disintegrate. His hopes rose as he watched his efforts pay off. Wyrmz stood hunched over as the remainder of his cape faded away.
Billy stood, thinking of a way to finish off his opponent but was interrupted by laughter coming from Wyrmz. As he peered over, he could see Wyrmz slowly bend back up straight with a devilish smile on his face.
"Don't think you've beaten me, Power Ranger…" Wyrmz said arrogantly.
Billy watched as Wyrmz stuck his hand into the void in his chest and slowly pulled the Power Lance from it. Upon fully removing the weapon, Wyrmz threw it to the side. Billy looked at his weapon to see it charred and smoldering.
"What you don't seem to realize Power Ranger, is that you've made the worst mistake of your meager life…"
"What do you mean?" Billy asked.
"My cape…my Celestial cape, wasn't just for fashion nor attacking."
"What about it then?"
"It was the only thing that prevented the wormhole from overexpanding. Now I can use that and swallow your entire universe. Spacial Expansion!" Wyrmz shouted as his body began to grow.
Billy watched in horror as Wyrmz continued to grow just like one of Rita's monsters. As he grew, objects from the scrapyard began to be sucked into the void. Scrap parts, tires, and small appliances disappeared.
"Damn, I have only one option…I need Dinozord power!" Billy yelled emulating Jason.
From a nearby desert, a large sand dune begins to shake. A large metal door frees itself from the sand. It stops as it becomes parallel with the surrounding sand. Inside, a monstrous engine roars to life, and its tank treads move putting the machine in motion.
The Triceratops Dinozord pulled into the harsh desert sun and moved in the direction from where it was being summoned. After a few moments, the Triceratops Dinozord smashed threw the fence surrounding the scrapyard and plowed through the mounds of scrap automobiles.
Billy jumped into the cockpit, ready to fight.
"That stupid dinosaur tank won't help you stop me, everything ends here!"
Wyrmz put up his hands and intensified the gravitational pull. Scrapped automobiles began to fly toward Wyrmz and disappeared into the void.
"I will stop you and save everything!" Billy yelled.
Billy launched the two horn grappling hooks, each being pulled into Wyrmz's hands. He forced his Dinozord in reverse, forcing the chains to pull taught. The gravitational pull intensified more, Billy feeling his Zord move back toward Wyrmz.
"Alpha, can you increase the energy output of my Zord?"
"Yes I can Billy, but it would require sacrificing power to the Command Center."
"It's okay Alpha, give Billy's Zord as much power as you can."
"Yes, Zordon," Alpha said as he began to switch power to Bill'y Zord.
As the power flowed in, the Zord pulled back creating tremendous force. Wyrmz began to struggle to keep balance.
"Okay Alpha, when I say put all the power coming from the Command Center and feed it into my Zord."
"All of it?!"
"Do it Alpha, I have faith in Billy."
Billy lifted the tail of his Zord and altered the position of the two laser cannons, making them angled slightly. He knew if he could take the enormous amount of power from the Command Center, put it into the laser cannons, and fire at Wyrms it would make the wormhole just unstable enough.
"Do it Alpha!" Billy yelled as he readied himself.
Alpha switched all the power to Billy's Zord and as if time began to slow, Billy sourced all power to the laser cannons and fired. The two laser blasts collided, forming a larger single blast that hurdled toward Wyrmz.
With no time to react, the blast hit Wyrmz and quickly sucked into the void. His body slowly started to break apart and too, get sucked into the void.
"Damn you Power Ranger…the cosmos…will still be mine…" Wyrmz said as the remainder of his self was sucked into the void.
"Next time don't underestimate Billy, the blue Power Ranger!" Billy retorted.
Billy noticed the wormhole begin to violently destabilize, knowing his friends had to get out quickly.
"Trini, can you read me?" Billy said into his Communicator.
"Yes, Billy I can hear you," Trini said after a few moments.
"You guys have to teleport to the Command Center immediately, the wormhole is collapsing!"
"You got it, Billy," he heard Jason say.
After a few moments, Billy saw his fellow Rangers teleport out of the wormhole and head toward the Command Center.
"Billy, quickly send your Zord back and we can use whatever power was left to seal the wormhole," Zordon instructed.
"Affirmative, Zordon,"
Billy held up his Morpher and with a flash of blue light, the Triceratops Dinozord was teleported back to the desert. As the power came back to the Command Center, Alpha used it to quickly seal the wormhole.
Everything sat silent as Billy stood relieved that ordeal was over. He teleported back to the Command Center and reunited with his team.
"Billy!" Trini yelled as she saw Billy.
She hugged her friend tightly, happy to see him again.
"That was some quick and intuitive thinking on your part Billy," Zordon said.
"Yeah, if you hadn't done what you did, the rest of us would have been toast," Zack said.
"I did what comes naturally," Billy responded.
"That's why you're a part of this team Billy," Jason said putting his hand on Billy's shoulder.
"Now that everything is back to normal, we need your help to get power back to the Command Center," Alpha said in the usual panic.
"We got you Alpha," Billy said preparing diagnostics.
