I don't own the Boy/Girl Battle Series.
This story starts one year after the Malloy girls moved back to Ohio.
Third Person POV:
Mr. and Mrs. Malloy were driving down the street when the light turned green, and they started driving. However, a drunk driver was driving down the road as well. He couldn't see where he was driving and suddenly . . .
The Malloy car flipped over multiple times before landing upside down. Mr. and Mrs. Malloy were dead.
The next day. . .
"Beth!" Eddie shouted. "Caroline! Get down here, we're going to be late!" The two younger Malloy girls bounded downstairs and raced out the door locking it behind them.
At school
"Would Edith, Bethany, and Caroline Malloy please come to the main office?" The announcement rang. The students ooooh the three girls out of the classrooms they were in. The three girls met up with each other in the halls.
Caroline asked, "What do you think it's about?"
Beth replied, "I don't know."
Eddie looked solemnly forward.
The three Malloy girls went into the office and stopped dead when they saw a police officer. He turned to them when he heard the door click and said to them, "You girls Edith, Bethany, and Caroline?"
The girls nodded.
"I hate to be the one to break it to you, even with seeing how young you are. ."
Eddie cut him off. "I'm turning 13 this year. Beth's 11 right now but Caroline's 9."
"Exactly. Girls, your parents are dead. They got into a nasty car accident." The girls froze. "It says here that your grandmother, Kathy Malloy, will be your caregiver. Did you girls leave your stuff in the classroom?"
The girls too stunned for words, nodded once more.
The secretary said, "Go get your stuff girls, then come back." The girls went out the room, all of them holding back their tears. When they got back into the classroom, they quickly gathered their things and ran out the door. Their teachers yelled at them to come back. Beth got back to the office first, her tears spilling out of her eyes. Caroline was next, sobbing. Eddie arrived last, her eyes wet, but not a single tear falling out. The police officer looked grim, understanding how they probably felt.
He said, "Your grandmother has been called; she's coming to pick you up."
The girls didn't respond in any way shape or form.
Two years later . . .
September
Buckham, West Virginia
Jake POV:
"Leave him alone!" I exclaimed, defending my brother Josh.
The bully punched me in the eye and continued to rip up Josh's notebook. The bully's friends were holding my brother down.
"Nice try, shortie," he said, laughing. I growled and lunged at him, knocking him to the ground. I punched him a hundred times before Steve lifted me away from him. Even after the beating I gave him, the bully still had a smirk on his face and was flipping through pages of Josh's notebook, his latest page. Josh looked alarmed, but I couldn't do anything thanks to Steve.
"Oh, what's this? Little Joshie has a crushhhh!" He laughed and tried to rip out the page before Tony pounced on him, grabbed the notebook and flung it to Wally who was watching. Bill and Danny tried to help Josh but just got knocked down.
Suddenly a loud whistle could be heard. Mr Johnson, our PE teacher was standing there and he looked pissed.
"Principal's office! Now!" He yelled.
We all numbly walked down to the principal's office, Mr Johnson walking right behind. He was muttering something about teaching.
"In all my forty years, I never . . ."
We made it to the principal's office and Mr Johnson started rambling.
"Caught these boys fighting out on the field, sir. They have no idea what's coming to them. Why I oughta-"
"Mr. Johnson! That's enough." Mr. Kittle said.
I looked over at Josh. He had his head down, looking at the ground.
"I'm afraid we'll have to call all of your parents." Mr. Kittle said.
"But-" Wally tried to defend us.
Mr Kittle raised a hand. "I will go over the footage myself. But for right now, you're all suspended until further notice."
"Mr Kittle?" Josh's bully asked.
"Yes Elliot?"
"They started it" he cried.
"WHAT!?" We shouted.
"No we didn't!" I exclaimed.
"Yes you did!" Elliot did his best to look pitiful. I realized suddenly that I gave him enough bruises for his claim to be believed.
"That's a big offense boys." Mr Kittle said grimly.
"We didn't do it!" I cried.
"I'm afraid we have to call your parents."
Let's just say, Mom wasn't happy.
"They blame my boys for self defense!" She cried at the dinner table. "Shir's just as mad!"
"We're all mad Ellen. Hal's furious." Dad said to her. Josh and I looked at each other.
"We were thinking about leaving, Shir and I." Mom said. "But we don't know where to go."
"What about Ohio?" Peter spoke up.
"Peter!" Wally hissed quietly.
"Well we surely couldn't bother them much, now could we? I mean, asking so much of them would be... well ... awful!" Mom said, concern tracing her voice.
"What do you mean?" I asked, but mom didn't hear me.
"Tom, you still have their number, right?"
"It went dead a few years back. Don't know why."
"What's going on?" Josh asked as Mom stood up and went to the phone.
"How would you boys feel about seeing the girls again?" Mom asked.
A few days later...
Josh POV:
Welp, it was official. We, along with the Bensons, would be moving to some dinky town in Ohio called Cali. Mom and Mrs. Benson had called the school to inform them we would not be going there anymore. As we were packing all our things into the moving van, I thought a bit. Tracy Lee would never again throw herself at Wally, which I'm sure he was glad with. We'd never live on Island Ave again, which was sad, and Jake, Steve and Tony would never play on the Buckham Badgers again. Instead, they'd be playing on the Cali Cougars along with Eddie. Hopefully of course. Jake didn't seem too thrilled about the move, on the outside only. Inside he was elated to be rid of Elliot, and maybe to see Eddie again. He'd never admit it though.
"Boys, you ready?" Mom asked. We all looked around once more, then nodded.
"Okay, then get in the cars!" Mom shouted. We complied and started to get in, each with an activity. Jake pulled out his Walkman and tossed a baseball up and down. I had my sketchbook, which gratefully wasn't destroyed. Wally had brought a book, reminding me painfully of Beth. I was excited and nervous to see her again. Peter had brought a coloring book. Dad's music blasted through the speakers of his truck, where Jake and I would be riding for the next three hours. Wally and Peter were riding with Mom. This setup was so we could bring both cars. As far as I knew, the Bensons had done something similar.
"I suggest getting some sleep boys!" Dad hollered over the music.
"In broad daylight? No chance!" Jake answered. I smiled from my setup in the backseat. I was laying down on my back trying to draw a decent looking sunset with only my pencil. I was a bit scared to open up my colored pencils because they'd just go all over the place. I was unbuckled, something my mom would be scandalized to see. Jake had pulled down his headphones to his Walkman and was singing along to the classic rock my dad was playing, occasionally stopping once in a while to tell me when he saw the cops so I could buckle up.
"Hey, Josh!" he hollered.
"I know, I know." I yell, setting myself up to get buckled.
I looked out the window and saw the car go by. I stayed buckled this time and just turned my body back to a resting spot, still trying to draw the sunset. Unluckily for me, it was high noon at this time, so I couldn't see a direct sunset at the moment. I let my mind wander and next thing I knew, I started to see the face of Beth in my sunset. I blushed wildly, erasing quickly the drawing.
Apparently Jake saw it and said, "What were you supposed to draw?"
"Sunset!", I yell.
"Try to take a nap, boys!" Dad shouted again.
"It's high noon Dad!" Jake shouted. (For me it's midnight as I'm writing this lol)
"You'll be thanking me if you do!" Dad shouted. I smiled at my dad, closed my notebook and my eyes. I soon fell fast asleep.
Jake POV:
Dad looked in the rearview mirror and saw Josh asleep. I looked back, grabbed my camera, and took a photo of him. It printed from the camera and I grinned.
"Who you gon' give that to?" Dad asked.
"I don't know." I lied. I was probably going to give it to Beth, just to see my twin's face go up in flames. I smiled at that thought.
Apparently Dad saw me smile even though he was supposed to be driving because he said, "Excited to see the girls?" I nodded slightly not knowing he saw that.
As we neared the town, their town, Josh began to stir. With a groan he opened his eyes.
"Are we there?" He asked.
"Yeah almost." I responded.
"Can't believe we're gonna see them soon." Josh muttered.
"Yeah," I whisper.
Soon, we were driving through the town, taking in all the sights of what they grew up with.
We passed by the ball park and I jumped to attention. There were about three fields, one for tee-ball, one for softball, and one for baseball. We continued driving and saw a motel. We pulled in and checked in.
"We're obviously not staying her forever, just for a bit boys." Mom said to assure us about the living conditions.
"Hey." Wally said, "Who else saw that sign that said, 'Malloy Farms' ?" Bill raised a hand. We were hanging out on the playground near the motel.
"What?" Steve asked.
"Can't say I did." Tony said.
"I was asleep." Josh said.
"Nah." I answered.
"I did." Bill said. "Probably a relative or something. I mean, didn't they say they lived in the town?"
"They did." Wally confirmed. "Do you think we should find where they live?"
"That sounds creepy." Danny says.
"Hold up." I say, getting up to find my mom. "Hey Mom, do you know where the Malloys live?"
"Uhh yes." My mom answers, shuffling through clothes she's putting away. "Do you boys want to go see them?"
"Y'know, let them know we're in town but not telling them we're staying here." I said as a joke.
"Joseph Hatford," Mom warned.
"Kidding," I chuckle. "Yeah, we kinda did want to see them, see how they're doing."
I muttered under my breath, "Let Eddie know she's got competition again."
Mom seemed relieved. "Well, get in the cars, and I'll let the parents know.
Soon, we're off driving again, this time knowing where we're going to be ending up.
"We're here." Dad says suddenly, stopping the car.
We get out of the car and make our way to the house until someone stops us. She had green eyes, black curly hair, and dark skin.
"Don't bother," she says, "They're dead."
